Lakers Announced Championship Ring Policy

The NBA doesn’t have an official policy on who gets a Championship ring when a team wins the NBA Finals. Each franchise is allowed to determine its own rules of eligibility. While players may not be officially credited as an NBA champion by the league, getting a ring is the decision of the team.

This is important as it defines whether players cut or traded during the season are eligible to receive a ring if that team wins it all. The Lakers are currently having a great playoffs. They have already taken down the two-seed Grizzlies and sit one game away from eliminating the Warriors. But the Lakers also swung some pretty big trades this season. That leaves the question as to whether those players get rings.

All Lakers, Past And Present, Will Get Rings

The Lakers traded eight players during the regular season. The most notable departures were Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverly. Westbrook was dealt to the Jazz in the three-team trade that brought Jarred Vanderbilt to the Lakers. The same day, Beverly was sent to Orlando in a four-team trade that saw the Lakers acquire Mo Bamba. In total, the Lakers had nine players who are no longer on the roster. While eight were traded, a ninth player spent time on the Lakers’ roster before being sent to the team’s G-League affiliate.

However, the Lakers have confirmed that all players who played for the Lakers during the season would be eligible for a ring if the Lakers win the Finals. That would mean the Lakers would be giving out 26 player rings in the event that they win the Finals. Championship rings are valued at around $20,000 to $30,000. That means that to fulfill this promise, the Lakers will have to spend a minimum of $520,000 to ensure that everyone gets a ring. The end estimate sees that number balloon to $780,000. Do you think every player should get a ring? Let us know in the comments below. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

NBA Sets Start Times For NBA Finals Games

The NBA Finals will soon be heating up. But before we get there, the league has made a big announcement. According to Front Office Sports, the league is moving up the start time for each game in the Finals. The league has decided that each game in the series will begin at 8:30 PM ET. A move that hasn’t changed in over 20 years. For the last 20 years, each game in the Finals has started at 9 PM ET. However, that time has regularly made fans of the East Coast groan.

Now it seems the early start time may put a pause on the negative reactions from the East Coast. However, 30 minutes may not be that much of a factor for a game that will still be ending near 11 PM. However, it seems like the move is the right situation when dealing with fans all over the country. Fans like myself have been fighting our eyelids during these late series matchups that include West Coast teams. Including Tuesday night’s pivotal matchup between the Nuggets and Timberwolves.

NBA Finals Gets Earlier Start Time

The time is set. Now, who will be involved in this season’s Finals? There are many contenders who could be involved in the summer classic. The Denver Nuggets punched their ticket to the next round on Tuesday night. However, the Nuggets will have a tough second-round matchup with the Pheonix Suns. Rounding out the rest of the Western Conference, the Lakers and Warriors could once again play a role in the NBA championship. Basically, the Western Conference is completely up for grabs.

Looking at the Eastern Conference, it seems only a few teams have a shot at conference bragging rights. However, the number one seed Milwaukee Bucks, are in deep waters. The team is one more loss from being eliminated from the playoffs. A Heat series win would be only the second time an eight seed has taken down a one seed. So, which two teams will make it to the NBA Finals this summer? Please give us your predictions in the comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here with HNHH.

Chris Paul Locked In For NBA Finals Run

Chris Paul’s career resume already has the Phoenix guard among the greats in league history. Undoubtedly, Paul will join the greats in the Basketball Hall of Fame. However, the future Hall-of-Famer is missing one massive accolade. Paul has yet to become an NBA champion. An accolade that has long been on the veteran guard’s mind. However, this season may be Paul’s best chance at hosting the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Paul recently discussed what winning the championship would mean to him.

Paul recently spoke with Mark Medina of the Sportsnaut on the chances of a championship run. “I appreciate it. No one wants it more than I do,” Paul stated when discussing Damian Lillard’s comments on wanting to see Paul win a ring. As it currently stands, Paul is one of the greatest NBA players to never win a ring. A group that no superstar player wants to be a part of. But Paul realizes his chances of catching that elusive ring are dwindling. Especially with his recent luck of attempting to stay healthy.

Chris Paul Preparing For Potential Finals Run

The physical and mental work that goes into an NBA season can be exhausting. Many of the current playoff teams have dealt with the injury bug. The Suns are no exception. However, Paul and his team are not using that as an excuse. Injuries are a part of the game. Even without all the injuries, this team can still make it all the way to the NBA Finals. Paul has been on many great teams. However, the talent on this Suns roster may be the best in the entire league.

The Suns will open the 2023 playoffs with a strong matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers are a team full of stars, just like the Suns. But the Clippers will more than likely be without Paul George for the duration of the series. The Western Conference looks to be anyones for the taking. Has the time finally come for Chris Paul to become an NBA champion? If not the Suns, who are your favorites to win it all? Please give us your opinions in the comment section. Joel Embiid Is Done With MVP Talk, Focused On NBA Title

Joel Embiid has been among the discussions for the NBA MVP Award this entire season. The debates on the award have become exhausting. However, Embiid understands just how important the award is. But the time for talking about the award is over for Embiid. The Philadelphia Sixers star says he’s ready to put his focus on winning the NBA Championship. Although grabbing both accolades would be a perfect way for any player to cap off a successful season.

In a recent interview with Marcus J. Spears of Andscape, Embiid commented on everything that goes into being an MVP candidate. “A lot has been said, and a lot of people haven’t been happy about how the whole thing has been going on, about how people keep bashing each other and all that stuff. Where was all that [sympathy for me]? People kept bashing me the last two seasons, putting me down. But now other guys are being put down, now it’s an issue.” The pressure of being in the conversation can weigh heavy on anyone. But Embiid is ready to move on.

Joel Embiid Chasing First NBA Title

Embiid and the Sixers will begin their quest to the NBA Finals this Saturday. Awaiting the Sixers in the first round will be the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets were a pleasant playoff surprise this year. Since the team traded Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, many didn’t believe they stood a chance. However, the Nets proved everyone wrong by taking the sixth seed. But the Nets will have their hands full with this Sixers team. Brooklyn may not have one person on the roster that can contain Embiid’s dominance.

Embiid is ready for the time for talk to be over. Honestly, the whole NBA world is ready for the MVP race to be called. The dissecting of the league’s best players can become a microscopic snoozefest rather quickly. However, there will be a winner announced. But the name of that winner has yet to stand above the rest. Will this finally be the year Joel Embiid becomes the MVP of the NBA? Tell us who you think will win the MVP in the comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here with HNHH.

Draymond Green’s Warning To The NBA

Draymond Green is locking in for the 2023 NBA Playoffs. The Golden State Warriors star has a simple message for the rest of the league. “Don’t let us win another f****** championship.” Green is highly confident in his Warriors grabbing their fifth title during his tenure. Undoubtedly the Warriors have been the greatest NBA franchise of the last decade. Another championship this season will cement the franchise among the likes of the 90’s Chicago Bulls. A comparison that could be made already.

Obviously, the Warriors have what it takes to win the championship. They’re already the reigning champions of the league. The Warriors took down the Celtics last season behind a vintage Steph Curry playoff series. However, the Warriors have had to deal with the injury bug this season. It seems everyone, from Curry to probably the water boy, had to deal with some kind of injury this season. But that doesn’t mean the Warriors should be counted out. The team is built by shooting, and a hot streak could lead them right to the promised land.

Draymond Green Is Ready For A Warriors Repeat

However, standing in the Warriors way first would be the Sacramento Kings. The Kings have been one of the hottest teams this season. Including comparisons to great Warriors’ offenses of the past. But as the old saying goes, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. If the Kings are able to defeat the defending champions in round one, it will go a long way toward their confidence. But don’t count on Green and company to fall so easily.

Draymond Green is ready, as is the rest of the NBA world. The Warriors-Kings storyline is just one of the many great first-round matchups. But before we get there Tuesday night belongs to the play-in tournament. One team from each conference will be sent home. While the seventh side on both sides will be decided. Luckily for the Warriors, they avoided the play-in by earning the sixth seed in the West. However, be careful what you wish for. Michael Jordan Finals Sneakers Go For Record Number

Michael Jordan’s legacy seems to be on a pedestal above the rest. It seems as if everything attached to the Jordan name simply becomes iconic. This could be a reason why the Jordan Brand sneaker and clothing have become must-haves. Jordan’s playing career will forever be intertwined with his clothing and shoe brand. Following the recent release of the movie “Air” Jordan’s sneakers are now becoming a topic among fans. However, for one fan, a pair of Jordan’s game-worn shoes are worth everything.

Max Molski of NBC Sports Chicago reported that a pair of Jordan’s 1998 Finals sneakers are going for a record number. The alleged bid was made for $1.8 million. The bid is just an unbelievable amount of cash for anything. Let alone a pair of sneakers. However, this bid doesn’t sit alone at the top for the highest bid on sneakers. The bid for Jordan’s shoes ties the highest bid for a pair of sneakers with the 2008 prototype of “Nike Air Yeezy” that was worn by Kanye West.

Michael Jordan’s Sneakers Become Sought After Prize

The highly sought-after sneakers would be the “Jordan XIII.” The shoes were worn by Jordan in his final NBA Finals appearance. The Chicago Bulls legend helped deliver six champions to the organization. His final two championships came at the demise of the Utah Jazz. Hall-of-Famers Karl Malone and John Stocken brutally lost back-to-back final appearances to Jordan and his Bulls. Meanwhile, the shoes Jordan wore in the final series will forever live in infamy.

Above all, Michael Jordan will forever be the most iconic North American athlete. His contributions to the sport of basketball on and off the court are too many to count. His Airness can now add another legend to the endless amount of stories about the Bulls star. Just how much would you spend on a pair of Jordan’s game-worn sneakers? If you could choose, which edition of Jordan’s shoes would you add to your collection? Drop your choices in the comment section below. LeBron James Sets Sights On NBA Title

LeBron James knows what it takes to win an NBA Championship. The four-time NBA Champion is starting to notice his Los Angeles Lakers are coming together. On Sunday, the Lakers defeated a lowly Rockets team 134-109. With the win, The Lakers now sit one game outside of the Western Conference sixth seed. Which is a huge opportunity to avoid the play-in tournament. However, a sixth-seed berth would have the Lakers playing the Sacramento Kings in the first round.

With the bottom of the Western Conference being a tight race, losing is not an option. As the final week of the regular season is here, the Lakers know what is at stake. Looking ahead to see a potential playoff opponent is irrelevant if you’re not in the playoffs. James’ teammate Anthony Davis also understands this. Davis had a monster performance on Sunday. The former number-one overall pick dropped 40 points in the Lakers’ dominating victory over the Rockets. Davis’ performance was exactly what LeBron was hoping to see.

LeBron James Has Eyes On Fifth Ring

When healthy, Davis and James can rival any other duo in the league. The only problem this season is they both can’t seem to stay healthy. LeBron knows the potential of the duo and understands the stakes at hand. After Sunday’s game, LeBron spoke with the media about what Davis’s performance means for the future of the team. “We want to be on the floor together and make magic…He’s definitely making magic right now for sure,” James stated. The Lakers have all those tools to be a tough matchup for anyone in the Western Conference.

No one seems to be counting out what the Lakers can do in the post-season. Seemingly for good reason. James is one of the greatest players to ever step on an NBA court. Davis isn’t too shabby himself. The pair have won an NBA Championship together already, during the 2020 season. They know that it can be done. However, the road to get there isn’t the road most travel to winning a title. Can the Lakers win their second title in the LeBron era? Sound off in the comment section below on your thoughts on a Lakers championship. For more on the latest news inside the NBA, stay right here at HNHH.
