21 Savage Finally Meets Nardwuar For An Interview

Nardwuar The Human Serviette has added to his legendary roster with a new interview in Vancouver with 21 Savage, who just kicked off his American Dream tour in the city earlier this week. Of course, it was a pretty chill, wholesome, and interesting interview that saw the rapper go down memory lane with a whole lot of “How do you know that?” answers. Moreover, the two talked about the history behind some of the Atlanta MC’s beats, his London background and that of his mother, what’s next for him on the trek, and his first-ever show in the A.

Overall, it was a nice interview to watch as usual, and a nice cool-down moment amid absolute warfare in the hip-hop game. Kendrick Lamar just name-dropped 21 Savage as one of the Atlanta artists that Drake is “colonizing” on his latest diss track in their battle, “Not Like Us.” As such, a lot of people reacted comically to this in the interview’s YouTube comments section and on social media, remarking how he’s just having fun and keeping busy while his Her Loss partner is on the battlefield. Some even joked that 21 is the mole, and that Nardwuar is the one that has been feeding both sides all that information.

21 Savage’s Nardwuar Interview: Watch

Jokes aside, though, we’ve actually seen 21 Savage living his best life these days amid a busy tour schedule, such as singing on Instagram again and showing some love to Ayra Starr. It’s unclear whether he or other name-dropped artists on either side will chime into this beef, especially in his specific case as he’s on tour right now and probably wouldn’t want to have any part in it. It’s not like they should in the first place, but it’s an interesting parallel since Drake was on tour when Kendrick Lamar dropped “Like That” and only responded after. But that’s enough speculation… we’re not Nardwuar, after all.

Meanwhile, speaking of the “Jimmy Cooks” duo, Drake and 21 Savage recently appeared in the city of Chicago’s lawsuit against Glock, with that track specifically seeing mention as an example of prolific references to the gun brand in media. Probably not the association that they expected, but here we are. It doesn’t affect either MC in any way, but it does go to show the very tangible and unignored reach that they have. It also shows how folks will only question these references when they’re not in an entertainment or capitalistic context… but that’s another story.

Adam22 Thinks Tyler, The Creator Is Out Of Touch In Regards To Interviews

Adam22 is someone who is not afraid of speaking his mind as it pertains to a whole plethora of issues within the hip-hop world. Overall, he has created quite the brand for himself with No Jumper. It is a media platform with numerous podcasts. Furthermore, he has interviewed some massive artists in underground hip-hop. He continues to deliver interviews to his fans, and while he might engage in some antics sometimes, people are still tuning into his shows. At the end of the day, he is here to stay.

Recently, Adam was on a podcast with Unghetto. During this conversation, they spoke about Tyler, the Creator and his recent comments about interviews in music. As Tyler told Nardwuar, he wants to do more interviews about the music itself. In his mind, interviews like Hot Ones are not valuable. He just wants to discuss his craft and what inspires him. This led to many people calling out Tyler for a privileged and downright nauseating take. Adam22 is one of those people, and you can see his full take, below.

Adam22 Shares His Thoughts

Essentially, Adam believes Tyler is coming from a place of great privilege when he says something like this. Tyler is already one of the biggest artists in the world, and he can talk about anything he wants. However, other artists are only able to get interviews while on a rollout. The smaller creatives will take anything that comes their way, and that includes interviews that don’t center on the music. It is a harsh reality, although it is one that Tyler has not had to deal with for years. While Tyler’s opinion probably won’t change anytime soon, there is no doubt that other artists are in agreement with Adam on his take.

Let us know what you think of Adam’s comments, down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and personalities.

Ice Spice x Nardwuar

We all know that Ice Spice played volleyball in high school and college. However, this particular photo is one that had not been seen before. Consequently, Spice was a bit shocked to see it in Nardwuar’s possession. Overall, Spice was a bit embarrassed by the photos and jokingly told Nardwuar to delete them. It was a pretty humorous interaction that ended with the artist talking about her love of the numbers 4 and 8. She also noted that underhand serves are not the way to go if you want to be good at volleyball.

Ice Spice Tells Nardwuar About “Scary” NYC Public Transit Experiences

Ice Spice reflected on her experience taking New York City’s public transit during an interview with Nardwuar at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, last month. In particular, the Bronx rapper described the city’s 4 Train as frightening. The line rides between Woodlawn in the Bronx and Utica Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

“Just scary,” Ice Spice said in the interview published on Saturday. “It was scary on the 4 Train, but we made it out, period.” When asked about the 12 bus, she added: “Not as scary as the 4 Train but still wonky. Made it out of that too. Thank you, God. God is so good to me.”

When Our Generation Music shared the clip on Instagram, many fans agreed with Ice Spice’s opinion on the train. “If you know you know. That 4 train brought trauma during the biggie, bb Simon’s and Prada days,” one commented. Another added: “Why u askin her, just ask more than half of America’s population.” Others praised the rapper for appearing humble. Elsewhere in the interview, Ice Spice discussed performing live, playing volleyball, the first time she heard Tyler, the Creator, and more. Check out her full interview with Nardwuar on YouTube below.

Tyler, The Creator’s New Nardwuar Interview: His Festival, Influences & More

Tyler, The Creator and everyone’s favorite Internet interview sleuth, Nardwuar, go way back- at least over twelve years, in fact. As such, it’s always heartening to see them link up, because few figures are so perfect for each other’s brand, passions, vibes, and humor. Moreover, the two linked up for their fifth interview at the rapper’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles. Backstage, they chopped it up about their history, the festival, Tyler’s influences, the gifts that The Human Serviette had for him, and so much more. We won’t spoil the whole thing for you, though; few music media treats are as wholesome and compelling as a Narduwar interview first-watch.

However, something from this interview that lit the Internet up was Tyler, The Creator’s comments on music journalism. “We’re at a point where a musician talking in detail about music and people are like ‘Why does he keep doing that?’” he remarked. “But if I was on here gossiping, people would feed into it. We need to get back to talking about music. We need to stop f***ing going sneaker shopping or deep-throating chicken wings for an hour.”

Tyler, The Creator’s 2023 Nardwuar Interview: Watch

Of course, this made many people come to the media’s defense, particularly for Sean Evans of Hot Ones, while others completely agree with the “WHARF TALK” creative. A few hours after these comments started to make rounds on social media, Tyler, The Creator clarified that he doesn’t hold any hard feelings for Hot Ones and wishes that he would’ve used a different example. After all, he agrees that shows like this are not the problem, and actually has other podcasts or programs that he actually dislikes. Overall, it seems like the Hawthorne native just wants more of a balance between deep conversation and some fun.

Few artists fall into that “fun” bag as organically, respectfully, and interestingly as Nardwuar, so it’s clear that having less serious discussion isn’t the issue here. I mean, we’re talking about Mr. “So you just gon’ bring me a birthday gift on my birthday to my birthday party on my birthday with a birthday gift?” here. Even if people may think he has a big ego- and he would agree– it’s because of how passionate he is and how he wants to talk about his love of music, not about whatever Twitter is up in arms about. We can’t wait for these two to link up again one day. For more news and the latest updates on Tyler, The Creator and Nardwuar, check back in with HNHH.

Tyler The Creator Demands Better Music Journalism While Coining The Most Hilarious Description Of ‘Hot Ones’ Ever

Whenever Tyler The Creator and Nardwuar link up, there’s always going to be some gold to mine. In his latest interview with the Canadian host, which they shot at Camp Flog Gnaw recently, Tyler deplores the gimmicky state of music journalism while coining what is possibly the funniest description of the show Hot Ones ever. Sneaker Shopping also catches a stray in the interview, which you can watch in full above.

While talking about how much he loves talking about music, Tyler wonders at fans’ reticence to take in such conversation in comparison to interview shows with wild hooks. Lamenting that so much music journalism is about beef and gossip, he says, “We need to get back to talking about music. We need to stop going sneaker shopping or f*cking deep-throating hot wings for an hour. Talk about your album, talk about music, talk about the 15 songs you guys have spent time and gotten mixed and mastered and put your heart into and produced… when the album comes out and it sells 2 copies, everyone is confused – but they don’t want to talk about the music, they’d rather eat chicken wings and sneaker shop.”

Tyler’s passion comes from a genuine place; he legitimately seems worried that the devaluing of music could lead to a place where the music isn’t worth making or listening to. However, perhaps in an object illustration of just what he was talking about, only the comments above were broken out on social media, prompting him to hit his Instagram Story to clear a few things up.

“In the interview i shared a thought about the lack of journalism in music,” he wrote, “and used ‘hot ones’ as one of two examples.”

it comes off as having so much disdain towards the show which i dont, but really it was to be used as a broader example that popped in my head while trying to make the point. i could’ve said one of the (podcasts/ outlets that really pushes the more negative stuff but in that moment i didn’t. so sean [Evans, the host of Hot Ones] you didn’t really deserve the energy that comes off, wasnt my intention at all although “deep throating chicken” sounds hilarious to me. i am highly opinionated and outspoken so it comes off as my usual “complaining” ( like everyone else does, mines just gets shared more than the regular poster or comment, even if most of the video is me giving praise and showing gratitude to a multitude of things, that’s not what’s gonna get shared or spoken about). this will most likely get lost while the clip continues to get tossed around, but at least a few of you will see this. won’t change much since it’s out but yeah. really wish i used a different example, you seem like a sweet ol lady

Hey look, I don’t always agree with T, but in this case… He’s absolutely right (and I’m not just saying that because my job is almost entirely dependent on me writing about music and people actually LOOKING at what I wrote). Music fans complain (rightly) about the focus on gossip and poor sourcing in music journalism today, but then click on SayCheeseTV and TheShadeRoom for their music news. Seems counterproductive to me. We (journalists and artists alike) get into this because we love music and we love talking about music. The cynicism and commercialism that is slowly sucking the soul out of everything can be fought, but only if we all care enough (that includes you readers and viewers) to do it.

(He’s also got a point about releasing music on Tuesdays again, but you can watch the interview for that too).

Lil Durk Thought Cutting His Hair Would End His Career

Lil Durk thought that his career might be over when he was forced to cut his hair. Earlier this month the rapper caught up with legendary interviewer Nardwuar for a chat. Nardwuar has a reputation for digging up old details and stories that artists aren’t expected to hear. Rappers like Lil Uzi Vert and A$AP Rocky have been blown away by Nardwuar’s level of research. For a question in this video, Nardwuar looked all the way back at 2013 when Durk was forced to cut his hair during a prison sentence.

“‘Cause when they cut my hair, the lady guard was like, ‘Why you cut your hair?’” Lil Durk answered. “But it ’posed to be mandatory, and I’m like, ‘What you mean what the f**k I cut my hair for?’ Then they did me any type of way. I looked in the mirror. I said my career over with. They cut me bald, all types of s**t.” Clearly Durk’s career wasn’t actually over. In fact, he’s blown up to far greater heights than he could have believed at the time.

Lil Durk Hated Cutting His Hair

2023 might be the best year of Lil Durk’s career thus far. Earlier this year he released his new album Almost Healed. The album had a pretty stellar debut soaring all the way to number two on the Billboard 200. It had the highest debut and largest first week sales for a rap album in 2023 until Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape numbers came in last week. He’s also had one of the biggest hit rap songs this year with “All My Life.” The J. Cole featuring track has stuck in the top 10 of the Hot 100 since it came out and was recently certified platinum.

Earlier this year the rapper confirmed that he isn’t done dropping new music this year. He promised that an Almost Healed deluxe edition is coming soon. What do you think of Lil Durk’s hair-cutting confession in his new Nardwuar interview? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nardwuar Interviews Snoop Dogg For The 11th Time

Nardwuar is one of the most beloved interviewers in all of music. That includes dozens of rappers who love interacting with him. The one rapper who has talked with him more than anyone is Snoop Dogg. That isn’t surprising given that the two are both well known for their humor and goofy personalities. The pair have done a total of 11 interviews over the past 23 years. The interview was posted to Nardwuar’s YouTube channel yesterday and already has over 600k views.

Nardwuar has been on rap fans mind a lot recently. He tried to catch up with Playboi Carti for an interview recently but ended up getting ignored. Video of Carti’s security separating the two went viral and Carti learned just how much love rap fans have for the interviewer when he faced quite a bit of backlash. A few weeks later Nardwuar was having the tables turned on him. He was being interviewed and was asked who his dream interview subjects would be. Included in the list were names like Barack Obama and Paul McCartney. Hilariously, the final name he listed was Playboi Carti.

Nardwuar And Snoop Dogg Chatting Once Again

Nardwuar also gets quite a lot of attention for his adorable relationship with Lil Uzi Vert. Video of the pair catching up after years of not seeing each other went viral as fans couldn’t believe how cute it was. Shortly after in a different viral clip Lil Uzi invited the interviewer to dinner at their house and even offered him free Call Of Duty lessons. It’s not clear at the moment if the two have a follow-up interview to their 2018 classic planned. Regardless, their ongoing relationship is delighting fans.

Nardwuar also popped up alongside another fan favorite rapper recently. During his set at Summer Smash last month, Ski Mask The Slump God was joined on stage by the beloved interviewer. The surprise delighted fans who cheered rapturously for him throughout his appearance. What do you think of Nardwuar and Snoop Dogg’s 11th interview? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nardwuar Lists Playboi Carti Among Dream Interviews

There are few interviewers in music more beloved than Nardwuar. He’s gone viral dozens of times for hilarious interview moments with rappers. Lil Uzi Vert, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, The Creator have all had their minds blown by the detailed research Nardwuar does before his interviews. This time around it was Nardwuar getting interviewed and he was asked about what his dream interviews would be. He lists three people in his answer starting with Barack Obama and Paul McCartney. Alongside those two legends, he completes his dream list with rapper Playboi Carti.

The statement comes just a few weeks after Carti “subbed” Nardwuar. After leaving his Summer Smash show last month, Carti was chased down the street by fans trying to get a glimpse of the rapper. But before he could even make it out a different fan tried to talk with him, Nardwuar. A video that went viral shows Carti in his car ignoring the interviewer’s questions while his security holds him back. In the wake of the clip, Carti realized just how beloved Nardwuar is online when fans bashed him for ignoring the loveable interviewer.

Nardwuar’s Dream Interviews

Of course, Playboi Carti isn’t the only rapper who’s been making headlines with Nardwuar recently. One of his most beloved interviews was when he sat down with Lil Uzi Vert in 2018 and the pair recently reunited. Firstly an adorable video hit the internet of the two of them embracing and being extremely happy to see each other. In a subsequently released video Lil Uzi invites Nardwuar over to their house and offers to teach him how to play Call Of Duty.

The hilarious and occasionally mysterious interviewer is loved by many rappers. He was at Summer Smash in the first place as a guest of rapper Ski Mask The Slump God. Fans lit up with cheers when they realized who was on stage with him. A subsequent video of the pair together on stage went viral in the days following. What do you think of Nardwuar listing Playboi Carti as a dream interview subject? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kid Journalist Jazzy And Nardwuar Had The Most Adorable And Wholesome Interview With Each Other

Teen music journalist Jazlyn Guerra — aka Jazzy’s World — has landed her fair share of big-name interviews. Over the last few years, she’s spoken with Jay-Z, J. Cole, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, and Nicki Minaj, to name a few. But what happens when the burgeoning star reporter meets one of the personalities who paved the way for her particular brand of on-the-spot artist interviews?

Well, now we know, thanks to “Nardwuar vs. Jazzy,” in which the Human Serviette gets interviewed by — and interviews — the kid journalist, leading to one of the most wholesome discussions in the business. Jazzy even dresses up as Nardwuar, complete with his signature plaid pants and matching bonnet. Nardwuar actually credits the look to Sebastian Bach of the ’90s hard rock band Skid Row, who stole his skullcap one day.

The two journalists go back and forth about the craft and their origins, from Jazzy’s Panamanian roots to Nardwuar’s punk band, the Evaporators. And of course, Nardwuar lavishes Jazzy with lots of gifts, including unusual chip flavors, a J. Cole double LP, and more. Jazzy even sings a little of her own theme song (someone get her into the studio, immediately!).

You can watch the full interview above.
