Monica Claims She Was Mistaken For Sexyy Red But Fans Aren’t Buying It

Monica has found herself back in the spotlight on a nearly night by night basis, at least among the Barbz. Back in February she was revealed as the opening act on Nicki Minaj’s highly anticipated Pink Friday 2 tour. When the tour finally took off a few weeks later she got plenty of love from the Barbz for her opening performances. The tour is still chugging along before shifting to an overseas leg starting next month.

But her affiliation with Nicki may be starting to run deeper than she anticipated. She took to Instagram to share a story with fans about an alleged encounter in ana airport. “Ok… This older lady literally chased me down in the airport to say Good Morning Miss Sexyy Red May I pls have a Picture! I hated to disappoint her but I said ‘Mmmm I love her but I’m not Sexyy Red” LMAOOO now I can’t get the song out of my head!!! She was so disappointed LOL. While the story is funny to imagine, plenty of fans online immediately commented that imagination might be all it is. Check out some of the responses to her story below.

Others did take the story at face value, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t come at it with jokes. “That’s so disrespectful to Monica tf” one highly-upvoted comment on the post reads. The variety of reactions to the post divided fans even further in the comments.

Akademiks Sued For Rape & Defamation: What We Know

Content Warning: This article contains details of sexual assault and rape that some might find disturbing.

DJ Akademiks, real name Livingston Allen, faces a brand new lawsuit stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred in his home. According to Rolling Stone, Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe sued the media personality on allegations of rape, sexual assault, and defamation. Since then, Ak has denied any wrongdoing with hopes that this will get resolved in court. This is what we know so far.

Allegations Of Rape & Assault

Abashe said she met Allen online in 2021 and entered into a relationship with him. However, on July 16, 2022, when Abashe visited Allen’s house in New Jersey, she alleged encountering a nightmare. Instead of a private rendezvous, she claimed she found herself in the company of two unknown men, who allegedly drugged and assaulted her. Abashe claims to have been raped on Allen’s pool deck while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and later, in a bedroom by Allen himself. The lawsuit details horrifying accounts of sexual assault, including physical and emotional trauma suffered by Abashe.

Abashe Submits Alleged Evidence

Following the alleged assault, Abashe said she took significant steps to seek justice. She underwent a rape kit examination, which reportedly revealed traces of Allen’s sperm. Photographs of bruises sustained during the incident were taken, further corroborating her claims. Additionally, Abashe engaged in a recorded conversation with Allen, during which he allegedly admitted to having sexual intercourse with her. Subsequently, law enforcement obtained a warrant for surveillance footage and other evidence, including allegations that Allen attempted to destroy potentially incriminating materials.

On the criminal side, he ultimately never faced any charges, even though Abashe did take her allegations to police. While she “chose silence,” she said that she decided to sue Akademiks after the allegations resurfaced at the end of 2023. Around that time, both parties addressed the claims on social media.

Defamation Claims & Social Media Response

In response to the allegations, Allen denied any involvement in the assault, claiming he was asleep at the time. However, in a video addressing the incident, he made statements that Abashe’s lawsuit argues as defamatory, stating during a Dec. 30th, 2023 stream, “She was getting trained by my two mens on my pool deck.” Allen’s remarks, suggesting Abashe willingly participated in an orgy, are contested by the lawsuit, which claims he “defamed” her by “accusing her of voluntarily having an orgy with his friends at his home while maintaining that he never participated at all.” Abashe’s decision to file the lawsuit followed unsuccessful attempts to privately resolve the matter, according to her lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn.

Has Akademiks Responded?

Although his main Instagram account was removed online just a day before the lawsuit arrived, he responded to the lawsuit during a recent livestream. “My only comment should really be: whatever this is should be handled in court. Just know that, according to the law and according to the police and according to all sanctioning, governing authorities, Akademiks is an innocent man who has not ever been charged with anything of the sort that has to do with any deviancy or anything like that. Has never been charged, will never be charged,” he said.

However, he claimed that this civil lawsuit against him is a “shakedown.” He added that he’s not under any sort of criminal investigation, though mentioned that the current attorney for Abashe is actually representing Lil Rod in his lawsuit against Diddy. Ak said Tyrone Blackburn, the attorney for Abashe, is attempting to gain some sort of monetary gain out of him.

“I’m not even hiding and ducking from a situation, or ducking from the narrative that happened,” he said. “I pretty much told everything. And also I told the truth. The police came, they looked, we gave them everything. Pretty much everything is documented, caught on videotape. They got to see it with their own two eyes. Not only did they say, ‘Ak, you good’ — and this is not just word of mouth. This is, ‘You’re officially clear. We could not bring any criminal Charges. You are not criminally liable.’ But also, anybody else in the situation, was also clear.”

Who Is Ziya Abashe?

Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe is the plaintiff in the lawsuit against DJ Akademiks. In response to the suit, she told Rolling Stone, “I’m confident that justice will prevail and the veil will be removed so no other woman will have to endure what I did.”

Abashe boasts over 11,000 followers on Instagram. Her YouTube page, where she vlogs and shares product reviews, also has over 13,000 subscribers. “African girl with insatiable curiosity.  Interested in spirituality, astrology, beauty/health and DIY’s,” her bio reads. Outside of that, there’s little information available about her. However, she seems to be quite active on social media.

Big Daddy Kane Blames Fans For Making Drake & Kendrick Lamar’s Feud “Unenjoyable”

Big Daddy Kane hasn’t been keeping up with Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing feud and says the fanbases have made it “unenjoyable.” He discussed the battle of diss tracks during a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, explaining his issues with the situation. Each artist has dropped several songs in the time since Lamar kicked things off with his verse on “Like That,” back in March.

“I was trying to keep up with the Kendrick and Drake thing but I kinda lost interest,” the legendary rapper admitted. “It just wasn’t exciting to me — not because of them two, but because of the fanbase. The fanbase just made it to where, I’m good.”

He continued: “It’s not a competitive thing about who spit the better bars. It’s a thing about fact-checking to see if this person told the truth. It’s like, if the line is dope and he dissed you, it’s dope, it’s that simple […] Why are we trying to critique and decipher what was said? It’s just a dope rhyme. Enjoy the music, man, for what it is. It just wasn’t for me. It’s not about Kendrick or Drake; it’s the fanbase, the listeners and their comments and their views. They make it unenjoyable for me.” Check out Kane’s full comments on the situation below.

Big Daddy Kane Speaks On Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Beef

Kane isn’t the only veteran in the rap game to express their disappointment in the feud. The Roots drummer Questlove recently remarked that the beef shows how “Hip Hop is truly dead.” He remarked: “Same audience wanting blood will soon put up ‘rip’ posts like they weren’t part of the problem.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Big Daddy Kane as well as Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud on HotNewHipHop.

DJ Akademiks Responds To Rape Lawsuit, Implies Big Institutions Are Out To Get Him

DJ Akademiks has been dealing with a severe lawsuit that includes allegations of rape, sexual assault and defamation. The accuser is former girlfriend, Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe, in which she essentially describes a night that went south. Abashe claims that after not seeing Ak for about year, she was invited to his house on July 16, 2022. Additionally, the lawsuit details a disturbing series of events, as she says she was drugged by two of Ak’s friends. After allegedly being raped by both of them, she was awakened by DJ Akademiks around 4 a.m. Furthermore, it gruesomely explains that he was allegedly “pulling her hair, prying open her legs, and brutally raping her.”

After declining to speak with Rolling Stone after their piece, he went on livestream to respond to these allegations. During his animated diatribe, he seems to be implying that Roc Nation and Tyrone Blackburn are hunting him. The latter is the attorney who has been representing Lil Rod in the infamous Diddy situation. In the clip below, Akademiks is seemingly alluding to the fact that Blackburn is also the one representing Abashe. If you remember, numerous reports came out that he was being critiqued for the salacious lawsuits he was using. In an article from Baller Alert, the federal judge overseeing the hearings was suggesting that he was trying to attract media buzz and “embarrass defendants” instead of seeking justice.

DJ Akademiks Suggests That He Is Being Targeted

In terms of the Roc Nation post above, Akademiks also is suggesting that the famous label is out to slander his name. This belief presumably stems from the fact that the media pundit has been critical of the Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez situation. The CEO of Roc Nation, Desiree Perez, is also on the Rolling Stone Culture Council. Of course, that is where the main report about the lawsuit came from earlier today. Overall, Akademiks’ implications in regard to Perez and Blackburn do not hold any concrete evidence. That could change, but for now, this is simply hearsay from Ak. There is certainly more to come on this, so be sure to stick around with HNHH.

What are your thoughts on the response from DJ Akademiks in regard to the rape lawsuit filed against him earlier today? Are his claims that he is being targeted by Tyrone Blackburn farfetched or fair? How do you think this will all play out in the future and why? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding DJ Akademiks and this rape lawsuit. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Diddy Doubles Down On His Call For “Love” With His Latest Message To Fans

Last week, Diddy’s continued social media use was called into question by many fans. The rap mogul is in the middle of months of increasingly pressing legal trauma. It began last year with a lawsuit filed by Cassie alleging abusive behavior. Though it was quickly settled, that set the tone for the months since. He’s faced numerous new lawsuits since then including one particularly viral filing by producer Lil Rod. More treacherously though, two of his properties were raided by the federal government as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged sex trafficking.

Throughout all of it, he’s occasionally posted to Instagram basically as if nothing else is going on. Sometimes that’s promoting something he’s working on and other times its simply a life update. Last week he shared a video that seemed to ask fans why they were hating on him and imploring them to spread more love. That seems to be the theme at the core of his newest post as well. It’s a minimal affair with a caption that simply reads “LOVE” with a few emojis. The picture itself is simply plain black text that reads “time tells truth.” The message seems to be an attempt on the rap mogul’s part to claim that he’s innocent and that the truth about the allegations surrounding him will be revealed in time. Check out the newest post he made below.

Diddy Claims That Time Will Tell The Truth

Surprisingly Diddy kept his comments on for his newest Instagram post and fans reacted exactly how you’d expect them to. “You’re definitely gonna serve some time I can tell you that” one of the top comments on the post jokes. “yeah that’s why you in trouble now” another fan agrees.

What do you think of Diddy’s newest Instagram post seemingly proclaiming his innocence in the face of allegations of decades of bad behavior? Do you think he should take a step back from Instagram until all of his legal matters are sorted out? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nav Is ‘On My Way 2 Rexdale’ On His Upcoming Album, Out This Summer

Cheer up, Toronto. It’s not all bad news. While Drake licks his wounds, another of T. Dot’s favorite sons, Nav, has announced his new album, On My Way 2 Rexdale, is… well … on the way. The XO signee announced the impending release with a dramatic trailer, which promises a summer 2024 release date and features teases of the album’s featured guests through some suggestive imagery. It’s like a scavenger hunt for clues, from weathered skulls wearing bat-ear hats to looming cactuses and slithering snakes.

Nav has been off the radar for almost a year, ever since completing his Never Sleep Tour and livestreaming his hometown show in Toronto. While he joined Metro Boomin at the producer’s Red Bull Symphonic performance in Los Angeles, he has stayed out of the spotlight while working on On My Way 2 Rexdale, which follows his fourth album, Demons Protected By Angels, released a little under two years ago in September 2022.

That album had guest features from Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, and Gunna, and the imagery from the trailer suggests that they might all be back to help Nav kick off his next era. You can try and decipher the clues in the video above, or just wait ’til summer — which is only about a month away — to find out.

Meek previously posted about Akademiks on Monday, calling him a “rapist type.” He wrote in full: “They all post bad about me because I don’t pay none of them. That’s why they have akademiks a rapist type couch potatoe controlling the narrative on the biggest battles to keep track… I been told him stop posting me they business flow when they speak only on the culture!” Akademiks replied to the post later in the day. “Can someone tell washed up ass Meek Mill to hang it up,” he wrote. “You making the same mistake u did in 2015 bozo… stop tweeting. go make a track dummy. Mans mad his career got killed by a singing n***a.. a blogging n***a and cuz of a lawsuit. U blocked me weirdo stop talking bout me.”

Akademiks has since labeled the case a “shakedown.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Meek Mill on HotNewHipHop.

Chief Keef “Almighty So 2”: The 7 Best Beats

Since Chief Keef released Almighty So in 2013, fans have wanted more. While the rapper has dropped many projects since then, they just weren’t a continuation of the beloved mixtape. However, in May 2024, over a decade after Almighty So, he finally released the highly anticipated Almighty So 2. The album contains lots of sick beats, and stellar performances from Chief Keef, so it’s no surprise fans are loving it.

It’s been a long time coming, and now that it’s finally here — with a tour on the way, as well — it’s an almost surreal experience for many listeners. Chief Keef, with the help of his collaborators, has delivered a memorable album that lives up to high expectations. Almighty So 2 is filled with fire tracks that are brought to life by Keef’s performance, and impeccable production handled by the Chicago star himself. Here are the seven best beats on the new studio album by Chief Keef.

7. “Too Trim”

Track 6 on Almighty So 2, “Too Trim” is easily among the songs with the best beats on the album. The track was produced by Chief Keef and Young Malcolm and sees both producers leaving nothing on the floor. It has all the elements of a great drill record, and then some. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most menacing beats on the project. All its many elements come together nicely to evoke an unsettling, yet exciting feeling. To his credit, Chief Keef rarely ever misses on tough beats and that’s certainly the case on “Too Trim.”

6. “I’m Tryna Sleep”

Almighty So 2 is a 16-track album, and “I’m Tryna Sleep” is the very last song on the body of work. Although it’s the album’s closing track, it certainly packs one of the hardest punches on Almighty So 2. The track is solely produced by Chief Keef, who equally delivers a grand performance on what is undoubtedly one of the album’s hardest beats. The rapper cooked with the beat, and then, ate it up with his bars and aggressive delivery. “I’m Tryna Sleep” opens with soothing keys. However, do not be fooled, because just a few seconds in, it switches up and catches you off guard. It is a masterclass in drill.

5. “Jesus” (ft. Lil Gnar)

Another track that starts off misleadingly, “Jesus” has a hypnotic guitar melody that’s the center of attention within the first minute. However, a few seconds before the one-minute mark, it transitions into a dramatic drill beat. This track was produced by Chief Keef, Mike WiLL Made It, and Shawn Ferrari. Without a doubt, it is one of the best beats Chief Keef raps on throughout Almighty So 2. Both Keef and Lil Gnar bring the heat on this track, especially after that sick beat switch.

4. “Banded Up” (Ft. Tierra Whack)

“Banded Up” is the eighth song on the tracklist of Almighty So 2. Featuring the eclectic Tierra Whack, it is one of the standout tracks in a sea of great songs. Both performers deliver excellently, aided by production that fits snugly around their bars. Solely produced by Chief Keef, “Banded Up” easily ranks among the absolute best beats on Almighty So 2.

3. “1,2,3”

This track contains one of eight beats solely produced by Chief Keef on Almighty So 2. It is also definitely among the hardest of them all. Chief Keef did his thing on this song, with both the rapping and the production. All the original elements he put together while cooking the beat come together very nicely. However, what makes the beat even better is the sampled tracks it incorporates. “1,2,3” contains samples from two tracks, “And I Love Her” by Bobby Womack, and “Land of a Thousand Dances” by Wilson Pickett. Altogether, these elements, original and borrowed, make one of the standout tracks on the album.

2. “Neph Nem” (ft. Ballout & G Herbo)

From the very first second of “Neph Nem,” you can already tell it’ll be a banger. The cinematic quality of the keys and drums that open the song prepares listeners for the rest of the beat. When the remaining elements of the beat come in before the 30-second mark, it’s glorious. This is another one of the eight beats Chief Keef produces solely by himself on the album. On “Neph Nem,” he lays it all out on the floor, and unsurprisingly, the performers don’t disappoint either. Ballout and G Herbo’s contributions to the song help make it an undisputed highlight on Almighty So 2.

1. “Runner”

Opening with the soulful voice of Nancy Wilson, this track leaves an immediate impression on listeners. It enchants and disarms you, leaving you totally unprepared for the heavy beat drop that follows. This is arguably the best of all the beats Chief Keef produced on this album. From the 808s to the sublime keys, to the hi-hats, this beat has a lot going on. However, it all melds together without a problem. Additionally, it samples “Streetrunner” by Nancy Wilson. Her vocals are laced throughout the track at specific points, giving the song some extra sauce.
