Summer Walker Praised For Stunning Feature On Childish Gambino’s “Sweetest Thang”

Earlier this week, the ever-so-talented Childish Gambino sort of surprised everyone earlier this week by releasing Atavista. We say sort of because most artists do not drop big projects on Mondays, but this effort was known to be coming soon. The California native describes this as his updated version of the 2020 project 3.15.20. Ultimately, the mixing was improved, tracks were added and subtracted, and new guests were brought into the fray. One of those fresh faces included Atlanta R&B songstress Summer Walker.

Her vocal talents were added to the seven-minute ballad about Gambino not understanding why his partner continue to loves him. Conversely, Summer reaffirms her affection on the outro in which they harmonize. “I just wanna say thank you / ‘Cause I love you, mm, mm (Love you),” she repeats. It is easily one of the most, if not the most stunning track on the album and fans are taking notice online.

The Neighborhood Talk gathered some tweets and everyone agrees that Summer has a gorgeous voice. “Oh he really put summer walker on sweetest thang.. it’s beautiful😫,” one user writes. “Summer Walker on here is EVERYTHING,” another adds. The song has some breathtaking church organ sections woven into the instrumental and when she pops in, it takes it to another level. She was definitely a natural fit, as Summer has shown interest in gospel music throughout her career. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she mentioned what she keeps in rotation from the genre. “”I have a very, very, very large playlist and I do not know the names of anything. I just listen to it… It’s like a bunch of gospel.”

What are your thoughts on the praise that Summer Walker is getting for her feature on Childish Gambino’s “Sweetest Thang” off Atavista? Is this one of her strongest guest performances of her career, why or why not? Is this the best song from Gambino’s new album? Did she have the best feature on the record? Kendrick Lamar’s Recent Diss Tracks Leading To Massive Earnings

Big numbers has been the story of the entire Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef so far. They’re two of the highest-selling and most acclaimed artists in hip-hop and they released a series of rapid fire responses to each other’s claims as the beef raged on. There’s six different tracks from the beef that land in the top 20 of this weeks Hot 100, proving that the beef has also been a massive commercial success. Drake landed two tracks on the chart with “Push Ups” in its third week and “Family Matters” inside the top 10, but it was Kendrick whose putting up astonishing numbers.

Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That” kicked the beef off in March and spent three weeks at the top spot on the Hot 100, where it still hovers in the top 10. The darkest song to spawn from the beef “Meet The Grahams” lands outside the top 10. But two of his tracks landed in the top three with “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” The latter has been particularly impressive, landing at the top spot on the Hot 100 with only 5 days of tracking compared to the usual 7. It’s also broken multiple streaming records, including some that were previously held by songs from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. Now there’s a full portrait of just how much money the songs are making.

Kendrick Lamar’s Profit From Diss Tracks Revealed

According to the weekly song revenue chart, only three tracks pulled in more than $200k last week and Kendrick has two of them. “Not Like Us” leads all other songs with $277k, over $20k more than the runner up. All of his songs on the chart combine for more than $700k, though it’s unclear just how much of that will actually end up with Kendrick himself.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar generating more than $700k from his Drake diss tracks? Do you think the profit from the beef adds extra evidence that it could have been set up by labels? Let us know in the comment section below.

The Game Explains Rick Ross Diss Amid Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef: “Keep That Same Energy”

One of the oddest side quests to prop up in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle was the feud between Rick Ross and The Game, which manifested through the latter’s “Freeway’s Revenge” diss track against the former. Moreover, while Rozay beefed with Drake outright, there wasn’t much pre-existing tension between these new opponents, and Game’s name hadn’t come up once from any side in that 20v1… or 1v20, depending on how you look at it. As such, the Los Angeles MC called into The Joe Budden Podcast to explain his goals with his song, and to remark on what’s happened since.

“A n***a sitting around just trolling, n***a, keep that same energy, n***a,” The Game told Joe Budden and company of Rick Ross on Thursday’s episode (May 16). “Bump heads with a n***a that really do this s**t. Bro, he did respond with a f***ing cereal bowl, n***a… We know you f*** ing eat. We see you. I don’t think it’s wise… and if he does, it’s done. The rap n***as ain’t saying what the people in the comments are saying. The rap n***as know what I do.

The Game Reveals Why He Dissed Rick Ross On The Joe Budden Podcast: Watch

“A rare iguana in a motherf***ing koi pond not gonna do it here,” The Game continued. “You gotta rap. All that luxury s**t not gonna do it here.” For those unaware, Rick Ross responded to the Drillmatic spitter with a a couple of troll videos, which was most of his ammunition against Drake in the first place. Furthermore, it seems like the Maybach Music Group mogul didn’t really want any lyrical smoke this time, or at least thought that it was unnecessary to respond. Considering how the Kendrick Lamar battle played out, perhaps this wasn’t such a bad decision. After all, flexers are flexers, wordsmiths are wordsmiths, and the world revolves much easier when they know their place.

Still, all bets are off as to how Rick Ross and The Game could continue their battle outside of wax, although neither seems interested in the other’s primary form of engagement. Maybe this is just the kind of thing that we forget about in a couple of weeks, especially as there is still a lot of conversation and traction around Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s tracks. Whether or not more skirmishes and callouts emerge this year is a mystery. But we definitely have our hands full at this point.

T.I. Commends J Cole For Bowing Out Of Kendrick Lamar Battle

J Cole’s decision to delete his Kendrick Lamar diss “7 Minute Drill” and issue an enthusiastic apology onstage was controversial, to say the least. At the time, many thought it was a weak move, and wished he would have stuck things out. Since then, of course, the consensus has shifted, as most fans and peers now agree that he did the right thing after seeing how Kendrick’s beef with Drake played out.

During a recent appearance on Big Boy TV, T.I. shared his take on the situation, commending J Cole for knowing when to bow out. According to him, the rapper made a good call and might have saved himself a lot of trouble. “I feel he chose peace and tranquility,” he began.

T.I. Praises J Cole For “Mature” Apology

“You gotta have thick skin and really be unfazed and unbothered,” T.I. continued. “And we don’t know the temperament or the sensitivity of Cole’s dynamic. We’ve never seen Cole upset. We don’t know where that would take him… I think that was quite mature of him.” T.I.’s not alone in thinking that J Cole was right to apologize, as Benny The Butcher had a similar take that he shared earlier this month.

“Honestly, you can see how gossipy and everything that this battle’s turned into,” Benny said at the time. “Do you blame him for not wanting to be a part of this at this moment? Do you blame him? I don’t. I probably would’ve went about it in a different way, but it’s like a gossip battle. It’s not like a rap battle, it’s like a ‘telling each other’s business’ type of thing, so I wouldn’t want to be a part of that.” What do you think of J. Cole deciding to delete his “7 Minute Drill” diss and apologize to Kendrick Lamar? What about T.I.’s take on it? Kendrick Lamar Drake Diss Records Make Up Nearly Half Of His Daily Spotify Streams

In wake of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, it appears the kid from Compton, California has come out on top. There will be a few staunch Drake fans that will swear that he indeed reigns supreme. But most hip-hop fans would come to the conclusion that K-Dot laid the smack down on the Canadian wonder kid. Many were of the opinion that he earned the W after dropping “meet the grahams,” and that “Not Like Us” was just him dancing on his grave. Drake stans will pop out every now and again to say that he is still the superior rapper because of the numbers he puts up when he drops. However, people siding with Kendrick can argue that point too after they hear about his Drake diss streams.

A post from the X account Kurrco has just surfaced and the daily plays Lamar is raking in is absolutely absurd. The data shows that on Spotify, all of the diss records are pulling in nearly 50% of those numbers. To be exact, the final percentage sits at an astounding 43.8% The same user revealed that Kendrick dwarfs Drake’s, which sits at a measly 7.9% To be fair to The Boy, he only uploaded “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” to Spotify.

Kendrick Lamar Has Further Proof That He Demolished Drake

These stats make a lot of sense, as “Not Like Us,” “euphoria,” “Like That,” and “meet the grahams,” all sit in his top 10 most popular. Furthermore, if you head over to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Kendrick claims three spots in the top 10 in that department as well. Every one of the aforementioned tracks, excluding “meet the grahams” are at number one, three, and six, respectively. “Not Like Us,” which sees Dot beat Drake at his own game by creating a brutal diss hit, debuted at number one and has over 121 million streams.

What are your thoughts on Kendrick Lamar receiving almost half of his streaming numbers from Drake diss tracks? Do you this is just further proof that he won the beef, why or why not? Which of the records is your favorite, and which is the best? Are you shocked that Drake’s number as so much lower? Rapsody Is ‘Back In My Bag’ With An Aggressive New Video From Her Album, ‘Please Don’t Cry’

Rap is back. Rapsody’s new album, Please Don’t Cry, is now out on DSPs, and with it, the video for “Back In My Bag” arrived today. Opening with a short interview with Rapsody in an empty arena talking about her personal evolution in the years since her last album release, Eve, the video then transitions into a hard-hitting clip with Rap performing the song as she rides around in a blacked-out truck, gets a tattoo, and mean mugs, ’90s-style, with her crew.

“Back In My Bag” follows “Asteroids,” “Stand Tall,” and “3:AM” with Erykah Badu as the fourth song from the album to receive a music video.

In her interview with Uproxx about the new album, she explained where she got the title. “I was on Pinterest and I found the title within a quote, and it said, “No, please don’t cry. You won’t always feel so broken.” And that’s what it is. It’s all temporary. It doesn’t last forever. But the grace is, allow yourself to feel it, but don’t sit in it. That’s all.”

50 Cent Reacts To Diddy Allegedly Assaulting Cassie In Security Footage

Today (May 17), CNN exclusively obtained some disturbing 2016 security footage of Diddy allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. In the footage, she’s seen waiting for an elevator in a hotel hallway, when Diddy runs out of his room in a towel. He then comes from behind her, pulling her to the ground and kicking her twice before attempting to drag her back to the room. Diddy is also later seen throwing what appears to be a glass vase at the singer. He has yet to address the newly surfaced footage.

Cassie’s lawyer, however, Douglas Wigdor issued a response via email. “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” he wrote. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

For those who don’t recall, Cassie filed a bombshell lawsuit against Diddy in November of last year, accusing him of sexual assault, physical abuse, and more. They settled shortly after, though his lawyers insist it was in no way an admission of guilt. As countless social media users and peers share their reactions to this latest development, 50 Cent chimed in, mocking Diddy for his team’s previous responses to all of the allegations brought against him in recent months.

👀Now I’m sure puffy didn’t do it, he is innocent this proves nothing ! This is what his lawyers are gonna say, God help us all 🙏🏿,” 50 Cent captioned the footage, which has not been included due to its graphic nature. What do you think of the newly surfaced footage of Diddy and Cassie? What about 50 Cent’s reaction to it? Cardi B Seemingly Reaffirms Her Commitment To Offset

It’s been a busy week for Cardi B fans trying to unpack all the news surrounding her personal life and musical output. First she shared and then later deleted a tweet that made it seem like she wouldn’t be dropping her new album in 2024 after all. That was eventually contradicted by her own label when they tweeted in response to her Rolling Stone cover story. Their response specifically called her upcoming album as one of the best of this year. The response, alongside Cardi deleting her original tweet, seems like good news for fans looking forward to her first new album in 6 years.

Fans trying to dissect Cardi’s personal life are having a similar back-and-forth. Late last year she and husband Offset seemingly had a rocky few months. Cardi even described herself as “single” at one point before the pair reunited for Christmas. They’ve appeared together multiple times since despite continued rumors of infidelity rocking the couple. But in her new Rolling Stone interview she may have re-affirmed her commitment to her husband. “It’s not even about love, we’re best friends. And it’s like, ‘OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.’ It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?” she says in the cover story. Check out the full interview she gave below.
