Lauryn Hill Brings Out Her Son YG Marley & Wyclef Jean For Captivating Performance At The BET Awards

With a stacked performers list like the 2024 BET Awards had last night (June 30), there were bound to be some special moments. The current stars were mostly holding down the fort this year, especially the ladies. GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Ice Spice, Muni Long, and Sexyy Red are just a few to name. However, you can argue that Lauryn Hill is still that big ticket performer after her showing at the BET Awards. The iconic multi-talent of the 90s is still going strong decades after her solo and group success with the Fugees, as she still frequents live performances.

In fact, Lauryn Hill will be going back on tour later this summer in August. It is to continue the celebration of The Miseducation and The Score and there will be 21 dates to be had. After two cancelations, Lauryn, Fugees, and the fans will finally be able to relive those legendary works live. It feels like her BET appearance is going to be a taster for what is to come down the line.

Finally, Wyclef Jean, popped out toward the end to reunite with Lauryn for a rendition of “Fu-Gee-La”.

Yung Miami Promises “Caresha Please” Comeback & Speaks On Her Solo Music

Yung Miami has a lot on her plate right now, and she spoke about her next moves with Carl Lamarre of Billboard at the 2024 BET Awards last night (Sunday, June 30). Moreover, they broke the ice by talking about their favorite Usher song and remarking on how she’s sometimes in her R&B bag as an artist. But speaking of that, the former City Girl also had some words about the solo music that she’s working on now that the duo is no more. “Oh, Yung Miami ain’t never left, babe,” she remarked. “But… This new era that I’m stepping into, this new music that I’m working on, it’s gon’ show that growth and that improvement. And it’s gon’ show that that’s why I’m Yung Miami, that’s why I’m Caresha.”

In addition, Yung Miami also promised that her podcast Caresha Please is coming back soon, which should be very exciting for fans to hear. On it, she’s opened up diverse conversations about relationships, the music industry, the entertainment business, and a whole lot more. Caresha has quite the media empire with her brand ventures as well, and seeing them all develop in real time reinforces the others. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for this solo music to drop.

In other City Girls news, JT recently suggested a possible explanation as to why she and Yung Miami chose to part ways as a hip-hop duo. “I did not want that to happen…” she told Keke Palmer. “When you get to the point of ego… it gets there. You forget to express yourself in a private setting, or you forget to talk like adults. It happened and it was stupid, and it’s done. It’s over with and now it’s funny to both of us. It’s hilarious to both of us. Now, it’s just a funny thing in time to us.”

Meanwhile, Playboi Carti recently seemed to shoot his shot with Yung Miami. Like most things related to Carti, his post featuring a picture of her didn’t come with much of an explanation or prelude. But it was still curious for fans to witness, so we’ll see if anything comes of that. Megan Thee Stallion & GloRilla Try To Out-Twerk Each Other During BET Awards Performance

Unofficial duos are always special to see in hip-hop, and we’re sure that many fans would go wild over a Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla collab album. Moreover, after the former’s opening performance at the 2024 BET Awards last night (Sunday, June 30), she joined the latter for her own medley of some of her big 2024 singles so far. They performed their collab “Wanna Be” together (sadly, no Cardi B for the remix version) and even had a twerk-off onstage. Overall, it seems like the “Hot Girl Summer” tour mates had a very great time at the ceremony, and their collaborative and personal bond is heartening to witness.

Furthermore, this is the wholesome message that Megan Thee Stallion had for GloRilla as she reflected on their tour together, for which Glo opened for Meg. “I love the bond that me and @glorillapimp have built in these past few weeks ! Nelly and Ashanti hosted their baby shower over the weekend, Fat Joe confirmed in a post on Instagram on Sunday. Reflecting on the event, he shared a photo of himself with the couple, which he captioned: “Today we had a Baby Shower, i love you my sister I’m sooooooo happy for yall guys GOD IS GREAT.” The two are expecting their first child together.

In response, fans showed plenty of love for the couple. “Awwwww congratulations. Ashanti and Nelly. Nelly and Ashanti originally began dating in the early 2000s but split up in 2014. Nearly a decade later, they reconciled and are getting married. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, last month, Ashanti revealed that Nelly proposed while they were in bed watching TV together. “I cried, I gave him the biggest hug and kiss ever,” she recalled, “I FaceTimed everyone I know… I was overjoyed and shocked and surprised and happy kind of like all in one.” She also explained how things are different this time around. “I think just we both are so passionate about working and about building family,” she said. “We are so, so aligned.”

50 Cent Clowns Rick Ross For Getting Jumped By Drake Fans In Canada

Rick Ross recently learned the hard way that all his Drake trolling could get him in trouble, as a group of OVO fans attacked him and his crew last night (Sunday, June 30) for allegedly playing Kendrick Lamar’s Drizzy diss, “Not Like Us,” at a Vancouver music festival in Canada. Of course, this resulted in a whole lot of social media discussion as fans reacted to the latest chapter in the great rap beef of 2024. So with all that conversation and debate going around, did you ever think that trolling master 50 Cent wasn’t going to offer his two cents?

“LMAO [laughing emoji],” 50 Cent captioned his repost of the Rick Ross and Drake fans footage on Instagram on Monday morning (July 1). “THE GREAT ESCAPE! MEEKA CALL [phone emoji] THE CHASERS, THEY ARE CHASING ME. [laughing emoji] LOL.” Funnily enough, it seems like the 6ix God himself liked a post about this incident on IG, although he hasn’t spoken on it publicly as of writing this article. We can only imagine that he must feel quite flattered, vindicated, and overjoyed at this confrontation.

Elsewhere, one of 50 Cent’s other allusions in this IG caption concerns his ongoing beef with Meek Mill, which recently re-escalated after some social media shots. However, it’s interesting because one of Fif’s friends, Mike Knox, recently apologized to someone from the Philly MC’s entourage for dissing him, so it’s clear that at least some people on both sides want to cool down. Presumably, the G-Unit mogul doesn’t agree, or else he probably wouldn’t have referenced Meek in this message. Still, for him, it’s all jokes and he’s been doing it for too long to change, so we doubt we’ll see them reconcile anytime soon.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent has some much larger fish to fry than this Rick Ross and Canada incident, such as his spirits lawsuit that allegedly led to a self-harm threat from a supposed scammer. That sounds like a big headache, but one that he will probably continue to battle with his head held high. We’ll see if anything else comes of this fight, as Rozay seemed to take it in stride. Will more folks get involved or is this strictly about the former “Lord Knows” duo?

Gunna Approached By Man At BET Awards & Gets Called A “Rat”: Watch

Gunna cannot seem to shake the “rat” allegations after a random man confronted him at the 2024 BET Awards. It was a short but bizarre interaction, as the One of Wun rapper was chatting with two female staff workers on the red carpet before the festivities began. The man walked up to the Atlanta native and said, “Gunna Wunna man, you can’t be in the city doin’ all that ratting and s*** (expletive). Rat a** n****”. As he walked away, one of the ladies shouted “What?!” and proceeded to go after him. However, Gunna stood still and watched as his trash talker scurried away not saying a word.

Instead, he stared daggers into him, and fans were siding with Gunna online. “Then he walked away like a coward cause he got scared of gunna”, one X user said. Another added, “Bro ran off so fast after he said it”. Unfortunately, this will most likely not be the last time the hitmaker gets pestered for his alleged actions keeping Young Thug in court during the YSL RICO case. All in all, it was an extremely corny and coward-like maneuver by the guy. Surprisingly, though, this is not the first time he has done something like this.

According to HipHopDX the dude goes by K Rich and went viral as well for his recorded interaction with Jay-Z. It was in regard to the dinner or the $500,000 questions that was running rampant online. Rich went up to Hov and said, ““I’m taking that $500,000. I ain’t taking that dinner, I’m taking that $500,000”. All Jay could do is give him a fist bump and tell him “be good, man”. As for Gunna, this might be the moment he remembers the most, and that is even with the three nominations he received at the BETs.

Kanye West Is Being Sued For His Wife Bianca Censori Allegedly Sending Porn To Employees

Last month, Kanye West was sued by former employee Lauren Pisciotta for sexual harassment, breach of contract, wrongful termination, and creating a hostile work environment, just a few months after being sued by former employees of his Donda Academy who claimed discrimination based on race and whistleblower retaliation. They say bad news comes in threes, and just like that, Mr. West has been named in another lawsuit by former employees who want damages for unpaid wages, overtime pay, and emotional distress after they say they were emailed porn by West’s “wife,” Bianca Censori.

According to TMZ, these employees were freelance developers hired to create a new music streaming app for Kanye, so that he could release his albums Vultures 1 and 2 without splitting profits with Apple, Spotify, Tidal, and the rest. Through his former(?) chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos (who is also named in the suit), Kanye’s company promised $120,000 to the international group, which included “underage teens as young as 14.” However, in addition to not being paid for their work — shocker — the groups says it was subjected to “forced labor and cruel inhuman, or degrading treatment.” Caucasian managers used harassing language to employees, citing age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and national origin; they were referred to as “new slaves,” and bulled into working long hour, resulting in sleep deprivation.

Then, after Kanye announced his short-lived plans to launch a porn company in April, they were tapped to create an app for that, as well. They say Censori emailed hardcore porn to one employee via a file-sharing link accessible to the minors on staff. By May, though, Kanye had seemingly scrapped his plans, and the developers say he stiffed them on the promised pay, despite their delivering at least one completed app. Censori is not named in the suit.

Killer Mike Addressed His 2024 Grammys Arrest With ‘Humble Me,’ A Spiritual Song He Wrote The Day After

Last week, TMZ exclusively reported that Killer Mike would not face charges from his arrest at the 2024 Grammys, where The Hollywood Reporter‘s Chris Gardner captured footage of Killer Mike being put into handcuffs after winning Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. As relayed by TMZ at the time, the arrest allegedly stemmed from “getting into some kind of physical altercation with a security guard.”

On February 12, the Atlanta rapper, actor, and activist addressed the arrest on The View, but he really addressed it on “Humble Me,” his new spiritual song that uses his personal experience to shed light on the broader, deep-rooted injustices.

“I won at the Grammys for spitting my grammar / Did that for Atlanta,” Killer Mike raps, while hands grab at him in the accompanying black-and-white video. “Did that for Atlanta, bruh / Swept up like a janitor / Got sent to the slammer, bruh / Treat me like an animal / Or some kind of Hannibal, vicious and cannibal / The devil be doin’ you, right when you doin’ it / The devil will ruin you.”

“I was in the studio the very next day,” Killer Mike said in a statement, as per press release. “I’m as inspired as ever, and I’m just following the music at this point. “All my heroes have been cuffed and mishandled in some way. I just thanked God in that moment of being Daniel in the lion’s den.”

Mike continued, “I came out of the jailhouse in the pouring rain to my wife waiting for me, lit a joint, celebrated a bit and then woke up and got the news about my son’s kidney. I believe that humility and worship granted me God’s grace in the face of that test, and I believe my son receiving his kidney was a blessing from God.”

By the video’s end, Killer Mike is joined by Pony Boy and puts his arm around him while rapping, “The devil put me on his whipping post / The Lord did not allow him to whip me / So, I went to sleep as free as can be, and the next day, my son got a kidney / Lord, humble me now.”

In February, Killer Mike spoke with GQ about his son, “Pony Boy,” receiving a kidney after three years on the list.

On Sunday, June 30, Killer Mike returned to Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, the site of his 2024 Grammys arrest, for the BET Awards 2024, where he got the last laugh by winning Album Of The Year for Michael.

Sexyy Red and Chief Keef sat right next to each other at the BET Awards, for which the former had a couple of performances to offer over the weekend. Moreover, this was a particularly interesting development for fans considering that Sexyy recently fought over Sosa with Kayla B, King Von’s sister who also claims to be in a close relationship with him. In fact, she tweeted about him right before the awards show: “[crying-laughing emoji] my man on his way 2 the B.E.T. awards looking like a Chicago rich [ninja emoji] [heart-eyes cat emoji] [crying emoji].” It seems like this whole saga might not be over yet, and we all might just be biting the bait.

Furthermore, a lot of folks assumed that this conflict between Sexyy Red, Kayla B, and Chief Keef was a promotional stunt for Sexyy and Keef’s new music video for “Bow Bow Bow (F My Baby Dad).” With this new development, this puts that interpretation under a bit more scrutiny, as it seems like they should’ve let it go already. Still, maybe there’s a delayed kick on this promo campaign for a close, or they got more than they bargained for. Nevertheless, it’s not like any party involved is claiming a really committed and exclusive thing… I mean, the two rappers are practically pretending to diss each other on “F My Baby Dad.”

No matter what’s going on with Sexyy Red, Chief Keef, and Kayla B, we’re sure that it’s all good news for all of their promo cycles and next moves. The St. Louis MC, for example, lit up the stage at the BET Awards last night with her main performance after doing so at their Experience showcase previously. A lot of this drama hasn’t stopped some fire singles and visuals from dropping; in fact, that’s what many think it’s for. Shocker…

Jokes aside, we’ll see whether any other big updates emerge from this saga. Sexyy Red, much like Chief Keef and Kayla B, has bigger fish to fry right now, most likely. At least legends like MC Lyte are there to defend her against her haters. Not that Sexyy needs it or anything, but if life is all about a balance, then this is a worthy counter to the prudes.
