Travis Scott, Quavo, Tom Brady & More Link Up For Beach Football Before Michael Rubin’s White Party

Michael Rubin is currently preparing to host his annual Independence Day white party, and as expected, it’s already brought countless celebrities to the Hamptons. Earlier today, for example, he took to Instagram to share a fun clip of several of them playing beach football. Travis ScottQuavo, Odell Beckham Jr., and more were wrapped up in the game. Others, like Druski, watched from a distance.

Fittingly, Tom Brady and CJ Stroud served as team captains, and they all seemed to take the game pretty seriously. Of course, they were also fully prepared for the evening’s festivities, sporting all-white outfits. Check out the video below.

Tom Brady & CJ Stroud Serve As Team Captains For Pre-White Party Football Game

Fans are glad to see the hitmakers letting off some steam, as it’s been an undoubtedly busy few months. Earlier this week, Quavo unleashed his eagerly anticipated “Tough” collaboration with Lana Del Rey, which has earned him a great deal of praise. As for Travis Scott, he’s currently on the European leg of his “Circus Maximus” tour and is still hot off of performances in the Netherlands, Poland, and more. He also ran into a bit of legal trouble last month, when was arrested in Miami for alleged disorderly intoxication and trespassing.

Details of what led up to the arrest still remain a bit murky. According to reports, however, it all started with a minor disagreement on a yacht. Fortunately, he appeared to get over it pretty quickly, even launching merch featuring his mugshot the very same day. What do you think of Travis Scott, Quavo, CJ Stroud, Tom Brady, and more linking up for a game of beach football before Michael Rubin’s annual white party? Are you looking forward to seeing who else pops out for the high-profile event? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Metro Boomin & Future Fans Speculate That They Canceled Tour Dates Due To Low Ticket Sales

Future and Metro Boomin have canceled a couple of dates for their upcoming tour, namely shows in Milwaukee, Nashville, Columbus, New Orleans, and Tulsa on August 2, 6, 10, 20, and 25 respectively. As such, many fans are speculating on what could’ve prompted this decision, with low ticket sales in these cities being an easy theory to attach to. However, it’s unclear whether this actually contributes to the decision, as all these mentioned concerts already sold about half of their available tickets. Still, there’s not really much of another reason as to why this could happen at press time, so we’ll see if either artist ever addresses it in the future.

Actually, both Future and Metro Boomin have a lot to clear up and speak on these days, whether it be for the beef-sparking music they dropped this year or their personal moves. Moreover, in the producer’s case, he recently scared fans by suggesting that his next album will be the last project he releases on streaming services. We all know how contentious the debate between DSPs and the music industry’s artists has been for about a decade now concerning proper payment and support. It seems like that debacle might never fade, but moves from huge artists to combat this could lead to interesting results.

Regardless, Metro Boomin has a couple of big LPs in the works, so he’s got a lot to follow up on if his streaming service suggestion is in any way sincere. There’s his collaborative album with JID, plus a new collab tape with NAV that they recently teased. Will all or any of these come out eventually, or will they eventually fall under the the weight of platforms like Spotify and Apple Music? We’ll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, as for the Atlanta trap pioneer, Future is working on a new mixtape as well, so there should be even more heat from him sooner rather than later. Of course, we’re sure that many fans expressed disappointment when they heard this news about the canceled tour dates. Whether you’re seeing them live, or whether you’re looking forward to their next drops, it’s clear they will still dominate rap conversations for the rest of 2024. Once their tour kicks off, we’ll see exactly what we were missing, and we might even get an idea of what’s to come.

Tom Brady, CJ Stroud, Quavo, Travis Scott, And More Played A Star-Studded Beach Football Game

Many of the biggest stars in the world of sports, music, and entertainment are in the Hamptons this weekend for Michael Rubin’s annual white party. Before they all don their all-white outfits to celebrate the Fourth, a bunch of them got together for a game of beach football, with Tom Brady and CJ Stroud serving as captains.

Among those playing were Travis Scott, Quavo, Micah Parsons, Odell Beckham Jr., Damar Hamlin, and Grant Williams, while others like Druski wisely opted to offer commentary from the sidelines.

Unsurprisingly, it was the non-football players that seemed to be taking the game the most seriously, as Travis Scott was running routes like his life depended on it, and he and Quavo went head-to-head on some reps, with Scott catching a TD from Brady and Quavo catching one from Stroud. We also can see Damar Hamlin got a pick-six off of Brady (who I assume then ripped into his receiver for running a terrible route and not coming back to the ball). And then at one point Grant Williams gets tackled to the ground by Rubin, who seemed content to play offensive line, and I guess when you are throwing the party, holding rules don’t apply. The most important part was it seems we avoided any of the active athletes suffering an offseason injury, and everyone got a little sweat in before hitting the open bar later.

YNW Melly Awaits His Murder Retrial As His Lawyer Blasts Florida Prosecutors

The YNW Melly mistrial for double murder was one of hip-hop’s biggest stories last year, and it’s far from over yet. Moreover, he still awaits a retrial, but a new Instagram post from his lawyer Bradford Cohen points to a heated battle between prosecutors and the defense. Specifically, Cohen responded to an appeals court standing by a judge’s blockade of prosecutors cross-examining a state attorney if she becomes a witness in the retrial. In his message, the attorney blasted his opposition at Broward County, Florida’s State Attorney’s office and madeb it clear that he feels very displeased with how this whole situation played out.

“Essentially, the Broward State Attorneys Office really screwed this case up,” YNW Melly’s lawyer expressed on social media. “I have never seen anything like it. Literally refused to pass this case to an unconflicted state attorneys office after the defense listed one of their own state attorneys as a witness. They wanted to be able to cross examine the state attorney that was what amounted to a whistle blower and testified that a police officer lied.

“The lower court ruled that the Broward State Atty Office can not cross examine one of their own,” YNW Melly’s attorney continued. “That means if they stay in the case, there will be no cross examination of the State Attorney that testified the lead detective lied about the service of a subpoena. The appellate court just agreed with the lower court. A real circus over this case and mishandled from the 1st day when I was in the case. Bad investigation and even a worse trial. To think that the Broward State Attorneys Office would mishandle an important double murder case because of ego… unbelievable.”

Meanwhile, YNW Melly also appeared in headlines recently thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s mention of him on his Drake diss track, “Euphoria.” “Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite rappers so I feel honored and appalled… I’m a household name, just for the wrong s**t!” Melly stated to TMZ about the controversial shout-out. We’ll see whether or not this retrial bodes better news for him in the future.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Music Video Teasers Have Drake Fans Up In Arms

Last month, it was revealed that Kendrick Lamar was in the process of shooting a new music video for his track “Not Like Us.” He was spotted filming it in Compton alongside a huge crowd of fans and peers, leaving fans eager to see what was to come. An official release date for the video has yet to be revealed, though supporters recently got an exciting first look with some teaser photos.

In one of them, Kendrick is seen swinging at an owl-shaped piñata. “No OVH*es were harmed in the making of this video,” a disclaimer at the bottom of the image reads. Of course, this has gotten Kendrick fans more anxious than ever to see the video. Drake fans, on the other hand, aren’t happy.

As the photos make their rounds on social media, X users are weighing in, and not all of their reactions are positive. While some commenters are criticizing Kendrick for seemingly cropping part of his son’s face out of one of the images, others think his fiancée Whitney Alford looks downtrodden.

Many commenters also simply argue that the beef has gotten old, and are accusing Kendrick of milking it for streams. Regardless, Kendrick is sure to have plenty of support whenever he finally decides to drop the highly anticipated video. After all, he just reignited his fanbase with his explosive “Pop Out” show in LA, a massive donation to various charities, and more.

Cardi B Is Reportedly Facing A $50 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Over ‘Enough (Miami)’

Cardi B did not refrain from throwing the BET Experience 2024 production team under the bus. That was an unsurprising development because Cardi never withholds her opinions, so there’s a fair likelihood that she will eventually comment on a reported copyright infringement lawsuit aimed at her single “Enough (Miami).”

On Wednesday, July 3, CBS 4 News (also known as Valley Central) first reported the news that McAllen, Texas artists Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District Of Texas claiming “Enough (Miami)” used portions of their 2021 song “Greasy Frybread” “without permission.” (“Greasy Frybread” was used as a promotional song for FX’s Reservation Dogs.) The copyright infringement lawsuit seeks $50 million due to “substantial damages,” like financial losses and irreparable harm, according to Valley Central.

Cardi B, OG Parker, DJ Swanqo, Celebrity Booking Agency, Atlantic Records, and Warner Music Group are listed as defendants.

TMZ and New York Daily News also obtained the court documents.

Cardi B released “Enough (Miami)” in March, and the aggressive rap song peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 — charting for 14 weeks total.

Cardi B has yet to confirm a release date for her long-awaited sophomore studio album, but on June 29, she posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I have everything planned, locked, and ready to go. Every thing I said I would do this year, I’m going to do it. Nothing is going to stop me. I proved myself before, and I’m going to do it again… now rest.”

Beyonce’s New Wax Figure Leaves Fans Confused: “That’s Becky”

It goes without saying that replicating Beyonce with wax would be a pretty tough feat. Recently, however, the Grévin Museum in Paris has earned a great deal of backlash for what fans think is a wildly off-base depiction of the icon. They unveiled the new wax figure earlier today. Social media users were quick to call them out, accusing them of whitewashing the multi-hyphenate.

“Baby that’s Addison Rae,” one Instagram user writes in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section. “That’s Becky not Beyonce,” someone else jokes. Others are questioning why the figure’s skin tone was made lighter than the actual Bey’s, and have been reminded of similar instances involving other celebrities. Last year, for example, the same museum unveiled a wax figure of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which some thought more closely resembled Mr. Clean.

Grévin Museum Unveils New Beyonce Wax Figure

The Rock himself responded to the uproar, revealing that he and his team planned to reach out to the museum to ask them to change some “important details,” including his skin color. The museum ended up fixing the wax figure, and acknowledging that it was “indeed whiter than it should have been.” According to them, the mistake was made due to the reference photo they chose to use, and how “tricky” lighting can be sometimes. It’s unclear whether or not Beyonce plans to do something similar. She’s yet to address the debacle at the time of writing.

Back in 2017, Madame Tussauds also displayed a Beyonce wax figure that led to a tremendous amount of criticism. Again, fans demanded a “re-do,” insisting that both her features and skin tone were not being accurately portrayed. The museum later announced that the figure’s styling and lighting would be “adjusted.” What do you think of the Grévin Museum’s new Beyonce wax figure? What about social media users’ reactions to it? Why Are Future & Metro Boomin Canceling Tour Dates This Summer?

Each summer, we anticipate the biggest tours to come to our city. However, it seems that for a few artists, the demand isn’t high enough. Apparently, that’s the case for Future and Metro Boomin, who are coming off of the release of two joint projects, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. The first boasts the hit single, “Like That” ft. Kendrick Lamar and sparked a wild feud between Drake and basically, everyone else who appeared on either of the projects.

Both Metro and Future have strong collaborators within trap music for the better part of the decade. Their combined stardom would’ve presumably been a shoo-in for sold-out crowds worldwide. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. According to Journal Sentinal, the two have officially nixed their August 2nd show in Milwaukee, along with several other dates, from the We Trust You tour. Here’s what we know so far.

Canceled Concerts & Refunds

Fiserv Forum released a statement late Wednesday afternoon confirming the cancellation of the Milwaukee concert. “Future’s concert scheduled for August 2 at Fiserv Forum has been canceled. If you purchased your ticket from the Fiserv Forum box office or online via Ticketmaster, refunds will be automatically processed and returned within 30 days,” the statement read. Unfortunately, no additional information was provided regarding the reasons behind this decision.

Impact On Upcoming Performances

Interestingly, the canceled Milwaukee concert was scheduled for the night before Future and Metro Boomin’s planned performance at Lollapalooza, the mega music festival in Chicago. According to the tour’s website, the Lollapalooza show is still on. This suggests that the artists are selective about which performances to cancel. If this were a one-off cancellation, perhaps, we’d be able to chalk it up to some sort of prior engagement or travel conflicts related to the two shows. However, Milwaukee isn’t the only city impacted by the recent decisions.

Other Canceled Dates

Several other tour dates have been reportedly marked as canceled. These include an August 6 concert in Nashville and an August 10 show in Columbus, Ohio. Moreover, it appears that the two were also expected to perform at New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center (Aug. 20), but the show no longer appears on Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and the venue’s website. Other dates that have reportedly been canceled are Tulsa, OK (Aug. 25). The tour, initially announced in April, was set to cover 26 stops across North America, starting in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 30.

Why Are They Canceling Shows?

Thus far, there isn’t any particular reason that’s been provided to the public. In recent weeks, there have been some rumors that they haven’t been able to move enough tickets in certain markets. There have been a few whispers that both Canadian dates in Toronto and Vancouver may have been impacted by initially gained steam surrounding the pair of Canadian dates in Toronto and Vancouver – largely connected to their ongoing feud with Drake. However, both of these shows seem to be still on their itinerary for this summer.

Ultimately, there hasn’t been any concrete data available that would suggest either Metro Boomin or Future aren’t selling tickets. Still, that wouldn’t necessarily be shocking as it’s been difficult for plenty of major-name artists to book full-blown tours as of late. Even outside of hip-hop, bands like Black Keys and even superstars like Jennifer Lopez have pulled out of cross-country treks. Though J. Lo’s team said she wanted to spend more time with the family, the announcement arrived on the heels of reports of poor sales. Black Keys, on the other hand, canceled their arena tour with promises to reschedule dates in smaller venues.

Conclusion

Despite having two consecutive albums reach the top of the Billboard 200 within a month and a half of each other – not to mention a chart-topping single – Future and Metro Boomin’s recent cancellations put a spotlight on the conversation surrounding the disconnect between the streaming world and hard ticket sales. This conversation has become more prominent, especially as we witness streaming giants fail to fill out arenas. Still, Future and Metro are much more than two artists who’ve grown popular on Spotify and Apple Music; they are pivotal forces who’ve transcended hip-hop in many ways. However, with inflation hitting hard and the cost of concert tickets running deep, the canceled tour dates probably aren’t related to a shift in cultural relevance but rather, the financial crisis impact millions of people. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding their upcoming tour.

Birdman & Slim Celebrated With New Orleans Street Naming In Honor Of Cash Money Anniversary

Recently, Birdman and Slim were honored in New Orleans with a street renaming ceremony, just in time for the 30th anniversary of Cash Money Records. The Saratoga St. and Erato St. intersection will now be called Williams Brothers Way to recognize the duo’s contributions to the music industry. Their mother operates a bar nearby, and the ceremony took place fairly close to the home they grew up in. They both were in attendance, alongside Juvenile, B.G., and more.

“As former mayor of New Orleans, I’m extremely proud of the street being named in honor of ‘Baby’ and ‘Slim,’ CEOs of Cash Money Records,” Marc H. Morial, National Urban League President and CEO explained in a press release. “Their contributions to the music industry and their impact on our community have been immense, shaping the cultural landscape and providing opportunities for countless artists that hail from the Crescent City.”
