Young Thug Surprises Lyft Drivers To Play Them His New Album, ‘Punk’

In the new promo spot for Lyft, Atlanta rapper Young Thug surprises a number of Lyft drivers, playing them songs from his upcoming album, Punk. In the opening of the clip, Thug shows off his sense of humor, reproducing the Twitter favorite meme of Thug in the studio with Lil Durk before heading outside to catch his ride. The various drivers are all shocked and amazed to find that their rider is the world-famous rapper, with one saying, “Some people call you the greatest. I’m starting to see why.”

In the press release for the promo, Thug explains, “In a car, you get to hear sounds you wouldn’t hear if you were in a studio, or in a club, or on stage. When you record a slap, you’re like, we got to go hear this in the car.” Naturally, in addition to promoting both Lyft and Punk, the brand partnership benefits fans, too: Riders will get 10% off Young Thug merch and music from the rapper’s online shop using the promo code “PUNKLYFT.” Also, while using the app, entering the promo code “YOUNGTHUG” in the rewards tab will unlock “SP5DER Mode,” offering Young Thug-themed icons.

Thug’s rollout for Punk, which drops this Friday, October 15 via YSL and Atlantic, has also included the purchase of 100 acres of land for a Slime City theme park, a Tiny Desk Concert with Travis Barker, and the slippery single, “Tick Tock.” He also played a trio of new songs at the Givenchy Paris Fashion Week show.

Megan Thee Stallion Is Teaming Up With Popeyes To Release Her Own ‘Hottie Sauce’ And Merchandise

McDonald’s isn’t the only fast-food chain collaborating with rappers lately. Popeyes — which previously collaborated with Uber Eats and Migos — is joining the fun bringing Megan Thee Stallion for a theme-appropriate Megan Thee Hottie Sauce, as well as merchandise. In a press release, Popeye’s describes the sauce, saying it flaunts a sweet, yet bold flavor with a hint of spice, inspired by Megan’s sassy personality,” and revealing some of the ingredients, including Aleppo pepper, cider vinegar, honey. The sauce will be available starting October 19 as an option for the chicken sandwich and the newly added chicken nuggets.

Additionally, the food chain announced that Meg has purchased a Popeyes franchise — however, there was no information on the location or when it’d open. According to AdWeek, the merchandise collection will include bikinis, hats, shirts, and even plush dog toys shaped like chicken tenders (Meg’s French bulldog, 4oe, is almost as famous as she is on Instagram). Finally, the partnership will also be making a “six-figure donation” to Houston Random Acts of Kindness. AdWeek notes that the partnership is a departure from prior food-food-rapper bids, like Taco Bell naming Lil Nas X its “Chief Impact Officer,” due to the inclusion of Megan’s franchise ownership.

Young Thug Told Kanye West They Would Not Be On Speaking Terms If He Didn’t Appear On ‘Donda’

This Friday marks a bit moment for the music world: the release of a new Young Thug album. The Atlanta rapper is gearing up to share P*NK, which fans have spent the better part of two months waiting for after he announced it during an NPR Tiny Desk performance over the summer. Thug sat down with Complex for an interview, where he spoke about Kanye West and how he ended up on his tenth album, Donda.

“I just hit Kanye like, ‘Bro, if I ain’t on the album, we are not speaking,’” he said to Complex’s Erik Skelton. He explained his take on the legendary superstar. “What n****s don’t know about Kanye West is he’s a real n***a,” Thug said. “He’s a billionaire, and all that sh*t is cool, but in real life, he could survive in the trenches. If he go to the trenches, the jungle, he could survive. He a real n***a.”

So far, Thug has only shared one single from the album, namely “Tick Tock.”

Kash Doll Flaunts The Perks Of Being ‘Single & Happy’ In Her Video With Wale And Eric Bellinger

Two years after her last project, Stacked, Kash Doll is back in action with a new video, in which the Detroit rapper calls on Wale and Eric Bellinger to join her for “Single & Happy.” The song was shared at the end of August and in the video, Kash Doll poses as the queen of her palace while a group of men audition one-by-one to be her partner. Wale and Eric Bellinger appear beside her while also sharing their perks of the single life.

The track is Kash Doll’s third single of the year following “Like A Pro” with Juicy J and “Thumbin.” Prior to that, she teamed up with fellow Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley for “Goldilocks” and called on DJ Infamous, Latto, and Benny The Butcher for “Bad Azz.”

As for her collaborators, Wale is a little over a week away from sharing his seventh album, Folarin II, which is led by singles that include “Poke It Out” with J. Cole and “Down South” with Yella Beezy and Maxo Kream. Maxo Kream Announces The Release Date For His Album ‘Weight Of The World’ With A Video For ‘Greener Knots’

This past summer, Houston rapper Maxo Kream celebrated the second anniversary of his sophomore album, Brandon Banks, which marked his first release with Roc Nation and RCA and a step upward in the rapper’s artistry. Now the Houston native has announced his third album, Weight Of The World, which will arrive on October 18, giving his fans just five days to prepare for its release.

The big announcement was paired with a new video for the latest single off the album, “Greener Knots,” which features production from Hit-Boy. The song finds Maxo discussing the harrowing things he saw during his childhood, while the video reenacts a crime Maxo and his friends committed.

“Greener Knots” is the third single from Weight Of The World. Maxo began the rollout for the project with “Local Joker” and its sentimental video. He followed that with “Persona,” which features a strong verse from Tyler The Creator and a braggadocious video. As for his upcoming new album, Maxo has yet to share the full tracklist and cast of guest features, but he did reveal that it checks in at 16 songs.

Lil Kim Thinks 50 Cent Is ‘Getting Creepy’ After He Compares Her To The ‘Leprechaun’ Movies

Lil Kim is just about fed up with her “Magic Stick” collaborator 50 Cent after his latest post, calling his trolling antics corny and opining that the Queens rapper is “obsessed” with her. 50, who seems to spend almost as much time trolling on Instagram as he does producing his many, many shows on Starz (which include the latest iteration of Power and BMF) posted a side-by-side comparison of a photo of Lil Kim performing at a show and the titular villain from the Leprechaun horror movies.

“I’m sorry i know it’s early but i don’t know why sh*t like this is funny to me,” he captioned the photo. However, when Kim saw it, she was less than amused. “Ur so obsessed wit me this is getting creepy,” she commented. “This one ain’t it bro. Not funny at all. I was hoping to laugh wit u but cornyyyyy. Boooo!!! U falling off. Im too bad and too fly in this video. U reachin now but we all know whyyyy.” For those who don’t know, Kim previously joked that 50 was “in his feels” over being turned down for a dinner date after he compared her BET Awards look to an owl.

In that instance, Kim herself reposted the side-by-side, teasing 50 and promoting her upcoming memoir (a very 50 Cent-esque move, to be honest). This time, though, there was no image to repost after the initial clap back. 50 deleted his post… but not before The Shade Room got ahold of it. You can see both posts above.

Lizzo’s Sheer Outfit From Cardi B’s Dancehall-Themed Birthday Party Raises Eyebrows

Cardi B recently turned 29 years old and to celebrate, she threw a blowout, dancehall-themed birthday bash in Los Angeles attended by friends and collaborators like Chance The Rapper, Lizzo, Snoop Dogg, and more. And while the fashion was mainly in keeping with the theme, one star’s risque ensemble raised a ruckus on Twitter when photos from the party surfaced online, as fans battled over her controversial look.

Lizzo, with whom Cardi B collaborated on the former’s new hit single “Rumors,” attended the party in a revealing outfit consisting of a glittering purple mesh dress, nipple pasties, and black thong underwear. Just as in the past when Lizzo’s worn a revealing outfit, folks on Twitter had a plethora of thoughts.

Plenty of those reactions were negative, focusing on Lizzo’s body shape and deriding her for sharing so much of herself with the world. However, others came to her defense, pointing out that commenters didn’t have much to say about Rihanna when she wore a similar see-through dress at the 2014 CFDA Awards. In fact, Rihanna was celebrated and the dress has even become a popular Halloween costume. It seems that Lizzo and her looks will continue to cause controversy as long as she remains so unapologetic about her shape and society, on the whole, remains judgemental of women with larger bodies. Society can grow up, though, because there are far more pressing concerns than what a celebrity wears to her friend’s birthday party.

Huey Briss Delivers A Gritty Performance Of ‘Grace Park Legend’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Long Beach has long been on hip-hop’s map as a result of Snoop Dogg’s eternal popularity, but in recent years, the nation’s gaze has been returned to the city by the sea thanks to the efforts of a rising crop of rappers that includes, Vince Staples, Seafood Sam, and Huey Briss. Huey himself dropped by Uproxx Studios to demonstrate just why North Long Beach deserves its renewed time in the spotlight with a gritty rendition of the song “Grace Park Legend (Norfside)” from his spring 2021 album of the same name.

In a recent interview with the Long Beach Post, Huey breaks down the thematic drive behind the chilling single. “When I’m talking about North Long Beach, I’m talking about people that aren’t there. It’s like I’m talking to ghosts,” he says. “Ninety percent of the people I grew up with are not even here. They’re all in jail, but not because they’re bad people, but because they’re broke. What you want to do? Go to college? You never see nobody do that. You only want to be what you see, and you see everybody around you steal a car, you’re gonna steal a car.”

Fortunately, the music is beginning to take off for the self-proclaimed Grace Park legend, who recently released the deluxe version of his album, which you can listen to here.

Moneybagg Yo And Jhené Aiko Celebrate Having ‘One Of Dem Nights’ With A Sultry Video

When Moneybagg Yo dropped his new album A Gangsta’s Pain in April, one of the fan-favorite standout songs was the Jhene Aiko-featuring “One Of Dem Nights.” A marked departure from much of Moneybagg’s existing oeuvre, the smooth, R&B-flavored track found Moneybagg sharing his X-rated fantasies alongside the bell-voiced singer. Now, six months out from the song’s initial release, Moneybagg shares the well-suited video for “One Of Dem Nights,” which sees the rapper mugging next to the singer, who also appears in miniature sitting atop the stove and a shelf in the trap house.

“One Of Dem Nights,” along with other hits like “Time Today,” “Hard For The Next,” and “Wockesha,” helped propel Moneybagg’s fourth album to a No. 1 debut, then keep it atop the Billboard albums chart two weeks later, where it returned after a huge streaming week. In addition to his own well-received singles, the Memphis native secured a number of high-profile features with names like Belly (“Zero Love“) and Meek Mill (“Hot“).

Meanwhile, Jhene Aiko celebrated the 10th anniversary of her debut mixtape, Sailing Soul(s), in March, then poked her head out for features on Ty Dolla Sign’s “By Yourself” and Swae Lee’s “In The Dark” from Marvel’s Shang-Chi.
