Guapdad 4000 And Rick Ross’s ‘How Many’ Remix Video Is Filled With Bel Aire And Beauties

For my money, one of the best albums of 2021 so far is Guapdad 4000’s Illmind-produced, autobiographical 1176 on which the Bay Area rapper exorcises the demons of his youth and cleverly flips an Alice Deejay sample to reflect on his life of crime on “How Many.” Today, Guapdad dropped the deluxe version of 1176, revealing the big-name guest who was initially left off the tracklist: Rick Ross, who appears on the “How Many” remix.

That’s not where the connection stops, by any means. After the deluxe version’s release, Guapdad shared the video for “How Many (Remix),” which sees the two rappers throwing a private house party with a bevy of beauties bouncing their booties and bottles of Ross’s Bel Aire champagne providing the refreshments. There’s also a fun bit where the emblem on a Rolls Royce Phantom slides out of its concealed compartment, only instead of a little angel, it’s a tiny Rick Ross.

Aside from sober reminders of Guapdad’s rough and tumble upbringing 1176 also found the rapper celebrating his Filipino roots with the tender “Chicken Adobo,” which has since become something of an anthem.

Russ Rolls The Dice, Hoping To Get ‘Lucky’ In Love

Russ takes a hard right turn on his latest loose single, “Lucky,” moving away from the moody sounds of his prior efforts this year like “Bankrupt,” “Private,” and “Status,” and even departing from more braggadocious fare like “Ugly” and “Small Talk.” Instead, he picks an uptempo, dancey instrumental with a four-on-the-floor beat to sing the praises of his latest paramour. He opens the track crooning about just how lucky he is, before switching to a quick-step rap cadence suggesting all the thrills he has planned for his romantic partner.

Commenting on the track’s YouTube stream, Russ thanked fans for supporting him, even on left-field departures like “Lucky.” “Thank you to all of you forreal!” he wrote. “I just like making whatever I’m feeling at the moment..it’s therapeutic for me so for y’all to get somethin from the music too means a lot.”

The New Jersey rapper-singer’s near-constant stream of new music is one of the reasons he called his career “pandemic-proof” last year as he continued to advocate for artist ownership. Of course, it probably helps that in addition to his music, he’s got multiple other streams of revenue, including his recently launched strain of cannabis, which he called the “best studio weed.”

Juicy J Turns Up In The Studio With Rico Nasty For His Stripped-Down ‘Take It’ Video

On June 25, Juicy J will release the deluxe version of his 2020 album The Hustle Continues and by way of announcement, he shared the stripped-down video for album single “Take It” featuring Rico Nasty. The video is shot through grainy, low-fi cameras as the two rappers turn up in the studio while recording their hedonistic verses, exhorting listeners to “take it to the head / Drink it ’til you dead.” The track is vintage Juicy J, with Rico’s unhinged yell-raps providing some extra uninhibited energy to its already propulsive vibe.

Juicy has become one of hip-hop’s foremost mentors in recent years, using his veteran savvy to cultivate a younger generation of standouts which includes Logic, who provided the producer tag Juicy uses to this day and appeared on The Hustle Continues single “1995“; Flo Milli, who he’s expressed interest in producing for; Jucee Froot, a fellow Memphis native Juicy has assisted; IDK, who counts Juicy among his titular friends on IDK And Friends 2; and Megan Thee Stallion, to whom Juicy has given a ton of twerk-ready beats.

Don Toliver, Latto, And Lil Durk Remake A Southern Rap Classic With ‘Fast Lane’

Every day brings the Fast And Furious sequel F9 closer to release and Atlantic Records, the distributor of the film’s upcoming soundtrack, is doing its part to leave enough breadcrumbs to maintain fans’ excitement. The latest is “Fast Lane,” which features Cactus Jack golden child Don Toliver, Chicago drill pioneer Lil Durk, and the recently renamed Latto contributing swaggering verses to a remake of the beat from Big Tymers’ 2002 hit “Still Fly.”

Over the triumphant brass and organ combination, Durk and Latto spit defiant bars about their respective successes, with Latto calling herself “the best of the bestest” and Durk threatening “I could put some rappers all on blast, but ain’t gon’ mention them.” Don Toliver provides a melodic hook, bragging, “They say that I know magic how my whips change.”

The song is the opener from the F9 soundtrack, which drops June 17, one week before the film screens nationwide. The album will feature contributions from both pop stars like Anitta and rappers such as the late King Von, Offset, the late Pop Smoke, Rico Nasty, and many more. Last week, the Ty Dolla Sign, Jack Harlow, and 24kGoldn single “I Won” was released with a cinematic music video.

Doja Cat Brings Her Fans On Step Closer To ‘Planet Her’ With The Euphoric ‘Need To Know’

There are so many moments and achievements that arrived for Doja Cat’s thanks to her sophomore album, Hot Pink. A chart-topping song and a TikTok trend are just the half of it, but now that’s all in the past as she’s ready to start a new chapter in her career. Doja’s third album, Planet Her finally has a release date as she announced earlier this week that it would arrive on June 25. With “Kiss Me More,” her collaboration with SZA leading the way, Doja Cat returns with “Need To Know” as the second single from the album.

The track is a euphoric effort supported by a hard-knocking bass and Doja’s repeated requests for a happy ending to her night with her adoring lover. “Wanna know what it’s like / Baby, show me what it’s like,” she proclaims on the song. “I don’t really got no type / I just wanna f*ck all night.” Prior to the song’s release, she spoke about it in a post to Twitter. “Need to know isn’t even the next single is just some sh*t before the next more important single comes out for you to enjoy,” she wrote.

In addition to sharing the release date for Planet Her, Doja also revealed the tracklist and artwork for the album. Its cover art depicts her laying naked on a sparkly neon-colored rock with bright colored particles covering her private parts. As for the tracklist, Planet Her is comprised of 14 songs and guest appearances from Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID, and SZA.

Kanye West No Longer Follows Kim Kardashian On Twitter

Kanye West has approximately 30.3 million followers on Twitter. The number of people that Kanye follows is substantially smaller: 218, as of this post. Interestingly, Kim Kardashian is no longer among that select group.

As Page Six notes, West recently unfollowed Kardashian as well as her sisters Kourtney and Khloé. It’s not clear, though, when that change happened, whether it was prompted by the birthday wishes he received from Kim and Khloé or by Kim opening up about their divorce on last night’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians series finale. It may also be related to reports that West has been dating model Irina Shayk for at least a few weeks, which Kardashian is reportedly fine with.

It’s worth noting, however, that West currently follows just one account on Instagram, and it’s that of Kardashian.

On yesterday’s episode of Keeping Up, Kardashian explained why she decided to move on from her marriage, attributing part of the reason to a lack of overlap in their lives: “I want someone where we have the same shows in common. I want someone that wants to work out with me. Like, every single day, Khloé and Tristan and I would workout at 6 a.m., the three of us, and I was third-wheeling it for a good eight months in quarantine, and I was so envious of that. I was like, ‘Wow, it’s, like, the little things I don’t have.’ I have all the big things. I have the extravagant everything you can possibly imagine and no one will ever do it like that — I know that, and I’m grateful for those experiences — but I think I’m ready for the smaller experiences that I think will mean a lot.”

Roddy Ricch Clarifies The Grammy Comments He Directed At Kanye West Last Year

Towards the end of 2020, The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards. Amid all the controversy that would pour out after the nominations were revealed, there were certainly celebratory moments for a number of artists like Roddy Ricch. The Compton native received six nominations at the show, which included nods in the Best Rap Song, Song Of The Year, and Record Of The Year categories. Despite it being a high moment, Roddy felt it was ruined for him as just months prior, Kanye West, one of his idols, delivered a golden middle-finger to the Academy by peeing in one his Grammy awards, an act Roddy would criticize him for.

“If I get nominated for six Grammys and a n**** I look to that had 22, 23, 24, 25 of these motherf*ckers and I come in here, I get nominated for six this year, I feel like that’s a good number,” Roddy said during a March Instagram livestream. “And this year this n**** just pissed on that sh*t. Like, how you think that make the world look at my accomplishment, n****? I did all this shit and you pissing on sh*t. That sh*t be lame. I don’t really like that sh*t.” However, during a recent interview on Los Angeles’ Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Roddy clarified the comments he made.

“I feel like what I was saying, I needed to gather my thoughts more and say it how I wanted to say it,” Roddy admitted. “What I was saying was, I grew up looking to a Kanye or Jay as like, if I do this, I want to have 27, 30 Grammys because that’s what they did. When I seen him pissing on a Grammy, it kinda rubbed me wrong ’cause I was like, damn n****, now that I’m getting nominated, I feel like everybody’s sh*tting on the accolades.’”

Kim Kardashian Finally Opens Up About Her Kanye West Divorce: ‘It’s The Little Things I Don’t Have’

As it related to Kanye West, last week’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians was a big one. In it, Kim Kardashian spoke as frankly as she ever had about her and West’s relationship troubles, saying that the situation made her feel like “a f*cking loser.” Last night was the series finale of the show, and during the episode, Kardashian spoke about why she decided to divorce West.

Speaking with Kris Jenner, Kardashian began:

“I just feel like I’ve worked so hard in life to achieve everything that I’ve wanted to, and I’ve lived up to my expectations and achieved ten times more than I even thought was humanly possible, but I don’t have a life to share that with. Like, I do — obviously my kids and everything — but am I just going to sit here and think, ‘OK, my kids fulfill me and I’m good?’

I never thought I was lonely. I always thought that’s totally fine: I could just have my kids, my husband moves from state to state, and I just am on this ride with him, and I was OK with that. And then after turning 40 this year, I realized, like, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state.’ To me, I thought, ‘Oh my god, that’s when we’re getting along the best,’ but then that is sad to me and that’s not what I want.”

She went on to talk about how while she appreciated all of West’s grand gestures, she doesn’t feel like their lives and interests had enough overlap:

“I want someone where we have the same shows in common.

She concluded, “I’m numb. Like, I’m tired of that, but I do know that I will be happy. I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy.”

Looking at Kardashian’s outfit in the scene and comparing it to an Instagram post, BuzzFeed News speculates the conversation was filmed in mid-January, about a month before Kardashian filed for divorce. However, Kardashian spoke about turning 40 years old “this year,” and her 40th birthday was on October 21, 2020. So, it’s also possible the chat took place in late 2020.

Saint Jhn And SZA’s Blissful ‘Just For Me’ Is The Latest Effort From The ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Movie

The upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy seems to be a place where unexpected musical collaborations are occurring. After the Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin were paired over a Just Blaze-produced beat for “We Win,” the first single from the movie’s soundtrack, the latest offering from the soundtrack comes as an effort with Saint Jhn and SZA. The duo joins forces for “Just For Me,” a blissful track that captures the acts in dreamy spirits on cloud nine as they profess their love for each other. The song arrives a little over a month before the movie’s July 16 premiere in theatre.

Both acts on Saint Jhn and SZA have been active in the music world in their own ways over the last few months. Saint Jhn’s 2021 has been quiet, but he concluded 2020 in a very active way thanks to multiple videos from his third album, While The World Was Burning, which he released in November with features from Kanye West, Future, Kehlani, 6lack, and more. As for SZA, she’s been working towards her currently untitled sophomore album that will hopefully arrive sooner than later. Until then, fans can enjoy her recent singles, “Good Days” and “Hit Different” with Ty Dolla Sign as well as her “Kiss Me More” collaboration with Doja Cat.
