Kanye West Poses With Playboi Carti After The Latter Shows Up Late To Listening Party

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign are gearing up to drop a brand-new album this Friday, December 15th. Overall, it still remains to be seen whether or not the album will actually drop. Of course, Ye has a history of delaying his projects. Typically, he will debut an unfinished album and then continue working on it for months. He has done this numerous times before, and consequently, fans are very skeptical that he will drop. Having said that, he seems pretty serious this time around.

Last night, Kanye held a listening party event in Miami. There were a ton of stars who showed up for the party. Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Freddie Gibbs, and Offset were all there. We heard tracks with Baby and Gibbs, while even getting a verse from North West. Needless to say, this is a project with a ton of big names. One person who is also on the album is Playboi Carti. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the listening party on top. That said, he did eventually get there, as evidenced by the picture below.

In the photo, you can see that Carti is wearing a unique outfit, at least for him. Furthermore, Ye is wearing his black KKK mask that was a fixture from last night’s performance. Overall, it was a very interesting look for both of these men. It would have been nice for Carti to have been at the party, but alas, Carti has never been one for timeliness. With Carti teasing new music quite a bit as of late, it will be interesting to see how his feature sounds. We could probably expect his new deep vocal register to make an appearance.

Be sure to let us know what you think of this link-up, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always keep you informed on your favorite artists and personalities.

50 Cent Trolls Diddy By Sharing Mase’s Freestyle Diss

50 Cent took aim at Diddy yet again on Instagram, earlier this week. This time around, 50 shared a throwback video of Mase dissing the disgraced Bad Boy mogul. In the caption, he added: “Who said MA$E don’t get busy man you gotta listen.”

As for Mase’s freestyle, he performed it in March 2022 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “Empty pipes when cliques get called/ And go to church on Sunday, I’m the illest of all/ Don’t ever put Mase with other Bad Boys who had hardships/ You know I get it jumping like a mosh pit, n***a/ On the verse level, dirt level/ I can never work level,” Mase raps. “N****s mad I made it to the ‘I would never work’ level/ Since Cain killed Abel, I’m able to kill Cain/ And Love don’t steal, my n***a, change your name/ I see no integrity in your name, and I’m haunted by the Ghost of St. James.”

For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.” He also described the allegations as “sickening” and accused the victims of looking for a “quick payday.” He added: “I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.” Be on the lookout for further updates on the lawsuits against Diddy as well as his feud with 50 Cent on HotNewHipHop.

Ice Spice And Sexyy Red Were Some Of The Most Searched Trends Of 2023

Earlier this week, Google released some information about the most searched terms on their platform this year. That included a specific section for music and musicians. While the top searches of the year feature the artists you’d expect like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Drake, the top trending searches sport some major newcomers. The trending search list aims to track artists who may have not had sustained high search numbers all year, but hit major peaks. That explains the inclusion of people like country singer Jason Aldean and 1975 frontman Matty Healy who had controversial moments this year.

Also among the top trending searches are two of the biggest breakout rap stars of the year. Ice Spice and Sexyy Red are probably the two biggest breakout rap acts of the year and they both turn up in the top 10. Red herself comes in at number 10 likely drawing attention for some of her hilarious public statements and controversial moments. Ice Spice on the other hand is all the way at number two. That isn’t all that surprising in a year where she made waves for collaborations with Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj and an appearance at the MET Gala. Elsewhere on the list are fellow newcomers from other genres like Oliver Anthony and Peso Pluma. Check out the full top 10 list below.

Ice Spice also has a song appear on the accompanying list of top trending song searches. Her collaboration with PinkPantheress “Boys a liar pt. 2” shows up at number 5. The song blew up on social media early this year which translated it into a breakthrough hit for both artists that reaches the top 10 of the Hot 100.

Someone who was listening to a lot of Ice Spice’s music this year was actually Spice herself. Last month, she shared her Spotify Wrapped with fans online so they could see what she’s been listening to. Hilariously, she was her own top artist and her top songs were made up entirely of her own tracks. What do you think of Ice Spice and Sexyy Red turning up among the top trending searches for musicians this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nicki Minaj “Pink Friday 2” Review

Since the turn of the decade, we’ve constantly faced reminders that seminal bodies of work that arrived post-2010 have withstood the test of time. Pink Friday, released on the same day as Kanye West’s magnum opus, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, left an ineffaceable mark on pop culture. That day, we witnessed Ye rise from the ashes of the still-infamous VMAs incident. But for Nicki Minaj, it was a day when she shook up a male-dominated genre with a distinct claim for her spot. Pink Friday created the template for the women who came after Nicki. Over a decade later, the effects are clear as day. At a time when women are simultaneously moving the needle and dictating what’s hot, it’s impossible to ignore the doors that Nicki Minaj broke down with her debut album.

Mixtape Nicki Returns

Pink Friday 2 arrives 13 years later, coinciding with her 42nd birthday, and appropriately so. Her latest studio album, which was initially due out in November, celebrates her place in history as we close out the Hip-Hop 50 celebrations. Pink Friday became a forceful and vibrant introduction to an integral figure in hip-hop’s fabric. Its sequel feels like a culmination of 10+ years of dominance in the rap game with responses to calls for “mixtape Nicki” and bolder advances towards melodies that can sometimes fall flat. Best exemplified in the first few songs alone, the Billie Eilish-sampling “Are You Gone Already” finds Nicki exploring her airy vocals with introspection on motherhood and the loss of her father.

But after such a loaded and emotionally-heavy glance into Nicki’s psyche since Papa Bear’s birth, she delivers a glorious spree of bars over hard-hitting production. “Beep Beep” and “FTCU” bring Nicki Minaj’s lyrical mastery to the forefront over production from Murda Beatz and ATL Jacob, respectively. The former feels more in line with one-off singles like “Chun-Li” which oozes New York swagger over electrifying production. The latter, however,

“Big Difference,” too, finds Nicki making it clear that while she’s here to play for keeps, not to play nice. “When bitches be rappin’, I’m laughin’, it sound like you tryin’ to me/ I’m who you dyin’ to be/ Will somebody cop all these groupies a ticket? ‘Cause I’m who they dyin’ to meet,” she raps, imposing a standard that she expects her “sons” to uphold, especially if they’re gunning for her throne.

A Star-Studded Line-Up Of Collaborations

With a tracklist of 22 songs, Nicki fortunately doesn’t need to rely on guest features to prop it up. However, the guests appearing on the project help elevate the album and add a breath of excitement. Take “Let Me Calm Down,” for example.  After linking up with Young Money alum Drake on “First Person Shooter” and “Evil Ways,” it would’ve felt only appropriate that J Cole similarly went bar-for-bar with Nicki. However, that competitive spirit manifests in other forms. As the two trade bars reflect on loyalty and family, Nicki perfectly sets up Cole for an impressive performance that remains one of the best verses on the album.

Unfortunately, the same can’t necessarily be said for her mentor Lil Wayne, who ends his rather impressive 2023 feature run with a throwaway verse on “RNB.” Nicki’s latest signee Tate Kobang holds down the hook on the song but part of it feels like it could’ve been a reference track for Chris Brown.

However, Drake lends his talents for easily one of the most infectious records on the project, “Needle.” Although their previous collabs, whether “Moment 4 Life” or “Seeing Green,” allowed the two to flex their lyrical prowess while similarly tracing their influences back to Lil Wayne, “Needle” leans deeper into the Caribbean and African influences that are dominating mainstream sounds. No doubt, both Drake and Nicki Minaj have played critical roles in popularizing these genres for Western audiences in their careers. However, Drake brings some serious Views vibes with an infectious earworm of a hook that sounds like it came from PartyNextDoor’s hard drive. For Nicki, it’s a record that further traces her history in Caribbean music, similar to “Forward From Trini” ft. Skeng and Skillibeng.

Pink Friday 2 Is A Breath Of Fresh Air In Her Catalog

While there are plenty of highlights across the album, Pink Friday 2’s biggest weakness is the reliance on all-too-familiar samples that fail to do justice to the original. Songs like “Pink Friday Girls” feel like it’s a contrived effort for TikTok virality and inescapable radio play through Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.”

However, there are other moments where she effectively flips popular records into something of her own. “Barbie Dangerous” pulls directly from Biggie and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s iconic “Notorious Thugs,” down to the double-time flows that would make Biggie and Bone Thugs proud. Then, there’s “Everybody” ft Lil Uzi Vert, an inarguable hit record. Transforming Junior Senior’s “Move Your Feet” into a Jersey drill banger, Nicki and Lil Uzi Vert continue to find new soundscapes for their chemistry to flourish. While Nicki’s attempts to fortify relationships with the younger generation of artists, “Everybody” showcases her and Uzi’s synchronicity to a tee.

At first glance, Pink Friday 2 can be easily written off as another cash grab: an expansive 22-song tracklist that utilizes already famous songs to recreate the success of “Super Freaky Girl,” which in itself already felt like an attempt to mimic the impact of “Anaconda” in the TikTok era. However, there’s less tension in trying to guard her throne and more comfort in the beauties of motherhood and family on Pink Friday 2. Ultimately, it’s not like Nicki’s necessarily changed in the 13 years since her debut album, but the maturity is a breath of fresh air in her catalog.

Diddy’s Former Bodyguard Roger Bonds Calls Mogul “Emotionless”

Diddy’s former head of security Roger Bonds plans to tell his side of the story on an upcoming episode of The Danza Project. In an exclusive trailer provided to Hot New Hip Hop, Bonds, who previously corroborated Cassie’s claims of Diddy’s abuse before walking back on his comments, sat down for a tell-all where he shared his perspective on the matter. The show’s co-host, Danza, doesn’t hold back on asking the questions that have been on our minds. He presses Bonds over whether he witnessed Diddy’s abuse. Then, he dives into the wild allegations regarding male escorts that the world uncovered in Cassie’s lawsuits.

Danza also asks if Cassie might be exaggerating about whether Diddy has some “fruitiness in him.” Bonds neither confirms nor denies it. “I have seen things that will make you question things,” Bonds says.

Elsewhere in the episode, he also claims Diddy never reciprocated the same level of loyalty that he displayed towards the mogul. Despite spending holidays together and forming a tight relationship, Roger recalled a time when Diddy downright doubted his ability to make a similar income without him. “Knowin’ Puff, he’s emotionless,” he said in the episode. Additionally, he recalls Diddy telling him, “All I care about is my bitches. I don’t know how to be your friend.”

Roger Bonds To Appear On The Danza Project

Following the string of lawsuits filed against him, Diddy vehemently denied any wrongdoing. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation, and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday,” Diddy said in a statement. “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth.”

The full episode of The Danza Project’s episode with Roger Bonds will go live this Friday. By the looks of the trailer, it’s going to turn heads. Bonds worked for Diddy from 2003 to 2012, so he’s undoubtedly been by Diddy’s side through plenty of highs and lows. His recent appearances in the media have indicated that he’s not holding his tongue when it comes to his former boss.Check out the trailer for Bonds’ interview on The Danza Project, which debuts on December 15th exclusively on their YouTube channel.
