Joe Rogan Praises Kanye West’s “Jail”: “Gotta Let A Guy Like This Get Out Of Line Every Now & Again”

Joe Rogan praised Kanye West’s Donda track, “Jail,” during a recent episode of his podcast with Shane Gillis. In doing so, he labeled West a “bad motherf*cker” and joked that society has to let him “get out of line” so he can make music like that.

“We play this one song in the green room when we really wanna get things popping,” Rogan began. “The ‘I’m going to jail’ song… God damn that song rocks.” After playing some of the song, he adds: “He’s a bad motherf*cker man. You gotta let a guy like this get out of line every now & again. That’s what makes him so brilliant. He’s got a tornado going on in his mind. There’s a tornado in there. At any given time.”

“Jail” ended up being one of the biggest songs from Donda and won the award for Best Rap Song at the 2022 Grammy Awards. It peaked at No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Check out Rogan’s opinion on the song, as well as Kanye West’s controversial behavior, below.

Joe Rogan Discusses Kanye’s “Jail”

Joe Rogan’s discussion of West comes as the disgraced rapper prepares for the postponed release of his new album with Ty Dolla Sign, Vultures. While the two originally intended to drop, earlier this month, the day came and went with no new music from West, as fans have become accustomed to. One issue he mentioned on social media was not being able to get Nicki Minaj to clear her verse on “New Body.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Joe Rogan and Kanye West on HotNewHipHop.

Kid Cudi has been hard at work on his new album, Insano. A few months ago, the rapper revealed that it will truly be a stacked record, as he is planning for it to have more than 40 songs.

“I ended up makin some more sh*t cuz I was in the f*ckin’ zone and I wanted to make something undeniable and change my entire live experience,” he posted on social media. “This album was made for tour next year. Get ready.”

When Does Kid Cudi’s New Album Insano Come Out?

According to Cudi’s bio on Twitter/X, his new album will be dropping on January 12. This has also been confirmed as a pre-order date on Republic Records’ official store. While not much else is known about Insano yet, it will likely include his recent “At The Party” collaboration with Pharrell and Travis Scott.

Back in September, the rapper had delayed the record’s release, pushing it instead a few months back. “I have to push Insano back until January,” Cudi announced at the time. “I want to make sure that everything lines up and I give y’all the best version of myself.”

Insano is out 1/12/2024 via Republic. Find more information here.

Snoop Dogg ‘Giving Up Smoke’ May Have Been A Joke, But His New Hemp-Infused Drinks Will Help You Skip The Smoke Yourself

Last month, when Snoop Dogg said he was “giving up smoke,” some more skeptical commentators speculated that he was gearing up to announce some product designed to deliver THC alternatively, like a line of edibles or a drink. And while that turned out not to be the case, it didn’t take long for the international cannabis mascot to actually announce such a product — albeit with much less hoopla this time around.

Snoop’s new hemp-infused beverage line comes courtesy of Hill Beverage Co. and includes multiple flavors, with CBD-only, and versions with CBD, Delta-9, and THC. The drinks include Doggy Spritz in Cherry Limeade and Peaches N’ Honies flavors, and Do It Fluid in Blood Orange and Blue Razz flavors. Give that man points for consistency — and levels!

Snoop’s been expanding his portfolio a great deal lately, with the new sports comedy movie The Underdoggs coming to Amazon Prime Video early next year, his Funko store in Inglewood doing brisk business for the collector community, and his ongoing interest in NFTs and blockchain all looking to make up the deficit in streaming royalties.

But the high point of his year was undoubtedly getting to try a roasted marshmallow for the first time while shooting the commercial for the smokeless Solo Stove.

Who Is Headlining Governors Ball 2024?

Governors Ball

The 2024 music festival season is on track to revival this year. So far, Lollapalooza has announced their international installments (Chile, Brasil, India, and Argentina) of the event. Domestically, Bonnaroo, Solid Sound, Stagecoach, Sol Blume, and Dreamville Fest have already begun to roll their lineups. Now, all eyes are on the holdout like Governors Ball.

Who is headlining Governors Ball 2024?

As of today (December 19), organizers for the multi-day festival have not announced the lineup. Fans eager to iron out their plans for summer 2024 have been speculating who could appear. For the 2023 festivities, the headliners included Lizzo, Odesza, and Kendrick Lamar. These entertainers had released a new project at the time or were reentering mainstream popularity.

Keeping that in mind, festivalgoers are sharing their dream lineup online, which lists Peso Pluma, SZA, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott as potential headliners. Unfortunately, it will be a while until the official lineup for Governors Ball 2024 is made public. For now, supporters are just going to have to sit patient.

If this year’s festival could stand up despite the Canadian wildfire smoke aftermath, next year should be no problem.

When Will The Governors Ball 2024 Lineup Come Out?

NYC’s annual music festival, Governors Ball, will be returning during the summer of 2024. Typically held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park now, attendees who are interested in going might want to know exactly who is playing before buying tickets — or making the trek from another state.

Here’s what to know.

When Will The Governors Ball 2024 Lineup Come Out?

While it’s currently the holiday season, it also means that the release of the Gov Ball lineup is right around the corner. In both 2022 and 2023, the music festival unveiled it at some point in January, building anticipation and giving guests a few months to prepare.

So, right now, it is still unknown who exactly will be taking the festival stages. That hasn’t stopped speculation on Reddit, however, as users are trying to sleuth some of the lineup by using the radius clause — meaning who doesn’t have an NYC-based show.

Claire Rosinkranz is allegedly confirmed, as one user pointed out she has a Governors Ball Presents show that summer. Other potential acts include Bleachers, Chappell Roan, Tyla, Teezo Touchdown, Idles, Greta Van Fleet, and Inzo.

Others in the comments have also been hoping for Lorde, Jpegmafia, The Killers, and more. Red Hot Chili Peppers are also listed, but as an unlikely possibility — just not completely ruled out. To reiterate, though, this is all fan speculation.

NBA YoungBoy Finally Lands Trial Date In Gun Case

NBA YoungBoy will officially be standing trial in his long-standing gun case in July 2024, according to court documents obtained by AllHipHop. The notice went out on December 13. YoungBoy has been on house arrest in Utah while awaiting trial since his 2020 arrest for federal firearms charges.

“Trial (jury) in this matter is hereby assigned for Monday, July 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. through Friday, July 25, 2024, in Courtroom 3 before Chief District Judge Shelly D. Dick,” the notice read. “Pretrial Conference is set for Tuesday, June 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in chambers before Chief District Judge Shelly D. Dick.”

The arrival of a trial date comes following YoungBoy and his team’s request that the terms of his house arrest be relaxed. They cited his worsening mental health as well as difficulty producing music. “Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight, and sleep. Mr. Gaulden [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation,” his lawyers said. They added that his sales have “suffered” due to his “limited ability to produce quality recordings.” They also added that he’s already “exhausted all his options for recording in his home with a very limited production crew.”

In response, prosecutors argued that the request was not specific enough about the details of working in outside studios. “Where are the studios? Who is allowed there? Will individuals that are not allowed at his home be present at the studios? How many people will be at the studios?” were among the questions they raised. The judge has not ruled on that request yet. Be on the lookout for further updates on NBA YoungBoy’s case on HotNewHipHop.

The LOX: Where Are They Now?

The Lox may not have reached the universal acclaim or brand recognition of rap groups like NWA or the Wu-Tang Clan yet, but they serve as one of hip hop’s most iconic influences. The Yonkers, New York-based trio has been commonly referred to as your favorite rapper’s favorite rap group, making the lyrically focused iconoclasts some of the most revered performers in the genre. As recently as 2021, the rappers made history in their landmark Verzuz event against the Diplomats and landed a prominent placement on Kanye West’s Donda album.

The trio has continued to make music as a group to this day, though each of the members has gone on to a host of solo projects and extracurricular ventures. The group even received the keys to the city of Yonkers in 2021 after opening a series of public parks, workout stations, and other thriving local businesses. Here’s a look into what Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch have been up to in the last several years.

Jadakiss

Arguably the most recognizable member of The Lox, Jadakiss’ scratchy vocals and harsh delivery can be heard in a host of feature verses with prominent rappers such as Kanye West, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Westside Gunn, and ScHoolboy Q. The rapper has released 6 albums and 6 mixtapes as a solo artist since 2001. Jadakiss released his most recent solo venture, the album Ignatius, in 2020.

After performing alongside his Lox brothers in the 2021 Verzuz match against The Diplomats, Jadakiss and his bandmates scored massive streaming increases. Some sources claim The Lox’s streaming numbers rose by over 215 percent after the live event, with many fans referring to the outing as the best Verzuz battle committed to the stage thus far. In 2022, Jadakiss presented Sheek Louch and Styles P with their own personalized Lox championship rings while the trio shared the stage at LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells festival.

As a revered member of his community, Jadakiss has founded a number of local businesses. One such venture includes the Kiss Cafe, which the rapper launched in late 2022. The cafe serves as a multi-generational family business and is run in collaboration with Jadakiss’ father, Bob Phillips, and the rapper’s son Jaewon.

Like his associates, Styles P serves as a founder and co-owner of D-Block Records. D-Block has served as the home of The Lox’s music since the brand’s release from the Diddy-owned Bad Boy Records in 1999. Styles P serves as the busiest member of the group musically, releasing a staggering 15 solo albums, as well as a wide array of collaborative projects and mixtapes since 2002.

In his personal life, Styles P is a vegan and has partnered with Jadakiss to run the Bronx-based juice bar Juices For Life. The first location opened in 2011 and has since expanded into 6 stores across New York. Styles also started a local health food store called Farmacy for Life in collaboration with his wife in 2018.

Despite his many career successes, Styles has been eyeing the laid-back retirement lifestyle in recent years. Reports indicated that the rapper plans to step down from his position at Juices For Life in October 2022. Likewise, Styles P has made plans to conclude his prolific solo career with two final albums, before shifting his focus to running Farmacy For Life full-time. Though Styles has announced the end of his solo career, he has assured fans that he’s still on board for all future shows, albums, and features alongside The Lox.

Sheek Louch

Sheek Louch seems to be the least outgoing member of the group, with very little information on his personal life available to the public. Like many rappers, the Lox artist has a somewhat shady past, including an appearance on the reality television series World’s Wildest Police Videos. Sheek Louch has released 6 solo records since 2003, along with a wide array of mixtapes. The artist has also prominently worked alongside Wu-Tang Clan members such as Ghostface Killah.

As one-third of The Lox, Louch has created some of the hottest hip-hop music known to man, with plenty of legendary rappers citing the influence and scope of the group as nothing short of revolutionary. Sheek has continued to perform with The Lox, including a recent Hip Hop 50 celebration with special guest Mary J. Blige on December 16, 2023.

Drake Reveals His Gambling-Inspired Alter Ego

Drake is someone who has been doing a lot of gambling as of late. Overall, this is because of his massive partnership with Stake. Stake is a crypto-gambling platform that has exploded in recent years. The company has games that you can play online. Furthermore, you can also engage in sports betting which is a large part of what Drizzy does on there. Ultimately, he is their largest spokesman, and sometimes, he even goes on the streaming platform Kick for some gambling streams.

We have seen him do this in the past, however, he found himself back on the platform over the weekend. It was here where he could be seen streaming outside and having a delightful time. In fact, at one point in the stream, he got to show off his new alter ego. As you will see, this alter ego came to him in the form of a hat. On the hat are dollar signs and a girl named Anita Max Wynn. If you read it fast, you will hear “I Need A Max Win” which is simply gambling jargon. Needless to say, Drizzy is fully embracing the Stake ecosystem.

Drake On Kick

Whether or not he continues to do Kick streams, remains to be seen. Considering the fact that he is taking a break from making music, he may just have more time to do these kinds of things. Furthermore, there are a lot of huge creators on Kick right now. Among them is Adin Ross, who Drizzy shouted out during his recent broadcast. One could only imagine what a collaboration between these two would end up looking like. Perhaps Adin can break his artist drought and get him on.

Let us know what you thought of the recent Drake stream, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on your favorite artists and their upcoming releases.

Gunna Shows Support For Young Thug During “Hot” Performance In Dubai

While Young Thug awaits his RICO trial to resume in the new year, Gunna is exploring the world. It’s been over a year since the Drip Or Drown rapper was released after accepting an Alford Plea. We’ve heard very little from Thug’s corner about his thoughts about his protegé. Still, Gunna has continuously expressed his support for the Slime Season artist. Recently, he took to the stage in Dubai where he performed “fukumean” and several other anthems while declaring “Free Jeffrey.”

Although Gunna came through in support of his latest album, a gift & a curse, he delivered some of his biggest pre-arrest hits. During “Hot,” his collaboration with Young Thug, a massive sign that called for the Punk rapper’s popped up on the screen behind Gunna. It undoubtedly earned plenty of applause from the audience. However, some fans felt a type of way. There’s still the narrative that Gunna ratted on his co-defendant to regain his freedom.

Gunna Takes On Dubai

Gunna’s recent performance in Dubai remains one of the few times he’s hit the stage since coming home. Following the release of his latest album, Gunna performed a pair of shows in Los Angeles and New York. Both performances proved that his grip on the culture hasn’t waned. Fans showed out for him, quickly revealing that none of the allegations against him have deterred people from listening to his music. Still, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be touching the stage in Atlanta soon. Perhaps, we’ll have to wait to see how the YSL trial pans out first.

Speaking of the YSL trial, Young Thug’s attorney recently opened a “motion to dismiss” appeal. Ultimately, Thug’s attorney, Brian Steele, followed through with his promise to try and get the case dismissed. The judge previously denied the possibility of dismissing the case. However, if the appeal proves to be successful, we might see Young Thug come home soon. Check out Gunna’s performance in Dubai above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.

Did Metro Boomin Respond To Drake’s Alleged Diss?

Drake hosted a Kick.com livestream this past weekend (the one during which he got a hefty $0.20 tip from a viewer), and some think one moment from the broadcast was directed at Metro Boomin.

At one point, Drake said, “And to the rest of you… to the rest of you, the non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet-and-deleters, you guys make me sick to my stomach, fam. Honestly. If you guys… look in my eyes: You guys want to do something? You guys…? That’s what I thought. That’s what I thought. Mmhmm.”

Many saw this as a reference to a Metro Boomin tweet that he later deleted, which read, “yet [Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss] still keeps winning rap album of the year over [Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains]. proof that award shows are just politics and not for me. Idc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to peoples everyday lives.”

Did Metro Boomin respondo Drake’s alleged diss?

A Metro tweet from after Drake’s livestream is being interpreted by some as a response. He simply shared a 9-second clip from a popular RDCworld1 YouTube video called “BLACK SITCOM THEMES VS WHITE SITCOM THEMES,” in which a group of men laughingly tell another one off-camera to calm down and put his gun down.
