Tay-K & Attorney Decline Plea Deal For Second Murder Case From 2017, Trial Date To Be Revealed Next Month

It has been eight years since Texas rapper Tay-K was handed down a capital murder charge after a home invasion robbery and murder. He fatally shot a man by the name of Ethan Walker in Mansfield, Texas. However, after being arrested he was released on bond and wildly cut off his ankle monitor while awaiting his sentence. From there, everyone knows how the story goes. Tay-K releases “The Race” during that time period, but then, he got into serious trouble while on the run. Police said that he had murdered a second victim, Mark Anthony Saldivar, in San Antonio this time. This all leads us to Tay-K recently declining the plea deal for that latter murder case in 2017.

According to XXL, video footage surfaced this past weekend from an unknown date of Tay-K and his attorney confronting the state. In the Zoom call, the rapper is dead silent during the whole interaction with the judge. Even though his attorney did all of the responding, Tay-K certainly felt that declining the plea deal was his final decision. Clearly, he feels very sure that he is an innocent man.

YNW Melly’s Retrial Postponed, Judge Grants Motions To Exclude Evidence

YNW Melly’s double murder retrial, originally scheduled for February of next year, has been pushed back once again. Broward Circuit Court Judge John Murphy honored the Melly’s team’s request for an extension earlier this week, allowing them more time to prepare their defense. Jury selection is underway, and opening statements will now begin on March 5, 2024.

In the meantime, the rapper’s team will conduct more than a dozen depositions, several of which were canceled this month. The news follows Murphy’s decision to partially grant 13 defense motions to exclude evidence, per the Miami Herald. Digital evidence, including text messages sent around the time of the murders, has now been restricted. Murphy will also make decisions on various other motions at a hearing next month.

YNW Melly’s Retrial Will Now Begin On March 5, 2024

The news also follows prosecutors’ push to have Melly’s song lyrics used against him in court. They filed for 55 songs, 18 audio files, 14 YouTube videos, and four album covers to be admitted as evidence in his retrial. This is a hotly debated move fans have also seen in Young Thug’s RICO trial. It sparked numerous discussions surrounding creative freedom, with several of the artist’s peers and fans speaking out against the judge’s decision.

Fat Joe, for example, shared his thoughts with CNN‘s Gayle King in November, claiming that a majority of his lyrics don’t reflect the truth. “I’ve been rapping professionally for 30 years,” he explained. “I’ve lied in almost 95 percent of my songs. I’m being honest. I write like I feel that day. I’m just being creative. You couldn’t build a jail high enough for the lyrics I’ve said on songs, which are all untrue. What I am is a family man, the person who gives back to my community all the time, opens businesses in my community.” What do you think of YNW Melly’s double murder retrial getting pushed back again? The arrival of a trial date comes following YoungBoy and his team’s request that the terms of his house arrest be relaxed. They cited his worsening mental health as well as difficulty producing music. “Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight, and sleep. Mr. Gaulden [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation,” his lawyers said. They added that his sales have “suffered” due to his “limited ability to produce quality recordings.” They also added that he’s already “exhausted all his options for recording in his home with a very limited production crew.”

In response, prosecutors argued that the request was not specific enough about the details of working in outside studios. “Where are the studios? Who is allowed there? Will individuals that are not allowed at his home be present at the studios? How many people will be at the studios?” were among the questions they raised. The judge has not ruled on that request yet. Be on the lookout for further updates on NBA YoungBoy’s case on HotNewHipHop.

Jonathan Majors’ Assault Trial Date Revealed

During a court hearing today, Judge Michael Gaffey denied Jonathan Majors’ motion to have his domestic abuse charges dropped. This means that his case will now go to trial, which is scheduled to begin on November 29 of this year. Majors’ team also put in a new motion, requesting for the judge to keep “contested evidence” away from the public due to his celebrity status. “The disclosure of sensitive information will limit Mr. Majors’ right to a fair trial,” his team claims.

Majors was first arrested in March of this year, after an alleged dispute with his girlfriend at the time, Grace Jabbari. He was handed assault and aggravated harassment charges, and later pled not guilty to all four. The following month, several additional women came forward with their own allegations against the actor. Reportedly, they worked alongside the DA to build a case against Majors.

The DA responded to his motion to dismiss with a lengthy document, unveiling new details about the night of the alleged incident. According to the 115-page filing, the duo were in the back of a cab on their way home from a party when Jabbari spotted a flirtatious text on her then-partner’s phone. She then grabbed his phone, which resulted in a struggle. As he tried to pry the device away from Jabbari, she says she sustained various injuries, including “bruising, swelling, and substantial pain.”

He then allegedly struck her in her right ear. The filing claims that once the cab came to a stop, both of them got out of the vehicle. Prosecutors claim, however, that he “grabbed her, picked her up, and threw her back inside.” Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Jonathan Majors.
