Gucci Mane Speaks On Mixtape Mount Rushmore

However, Wilson is not the only person who has been commenting on hip-hop Mount Rushmores. Gucci Mane has proclaimed that he “belongs on the Mount Rushmore of anything” after being left off a now-viral meme. The original meme listed Future, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, and Jeezy as its “Mount Rushmore of Mixtapes”. “I definitely belong there on the Mount Rushmore of anything. That’s just my opinion, but I’m biased. I’m not blind, you know. I’ve got different criteria that what I judge than what, probably, you judge. Or somebody else might judge. Or the popular opinion might judge,” Gucci told the Rap Radar podcast.

The post, made last month, has sparked a lot of debate in the music community. To Gucci’s credit, a lot of the replies were lamenting his exclusion from the list. Other frequently mentioned names included Wiz Khalifa, Jadakiss, and Lil B. Who would appear on your “Mixtape Mount Rushmore”? Let us know in the comments below.

Mario Believes He Earned Spot On R&B’s Mount Rushmore

Mario has been in the R&B genre for decades now, amassing chart-topping hits, awards, cultural acclaim, and a lot of experience. Moreover, TMZ Hip Hop recently caught him on the street in Beverly Hills, and they prompted a “R&B Mount Rushmore” conversation. Of course, the Baltimore singer had plenty of names to go through, many of which came almost instantly to him when asked about the genre’s all-time greats. However, he eventually pivoted to making his own case as to why he should also be part of that list of GOATs. Sure, there are many to consider, but the 37-year-old doesn’t want anyone sleeping on him. Also, he spoke about the music industry as a whole within hip-hop and R&B.

“Ooh, that’s a good one,” Mario replied to the question of his R&B Mount Rushmore. “Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, um… me! *laughs* You know why I say that? Hold on. Because I grew up listening to so many different types of music. With my mother and my grandmother, I got two generations of just soul music, you know, just great R&B. You know what I’m saying, that I grew up to. So that’s why I say my voice, I can do a little bit of everything. I was thinking the fourth person would be… the fourth person would be Whitney Houston. Um, Usher, it’s a lot. My Mount Rushmore can go, like, it can go cr*zy.

Mario Makes His Case For R&B’s Mount Rushmore

“I think that what can help with R&B culture is just getting back to, like, raw music,” Mario said of the current genre landscape. “Just really taking your time to create timeless music and not just hits, you know what I’m saying? Let’s just get back to creating timeless music, let’s get back to artist development, let’s get back to creating music that can stand the test of time, man. Originality. I wouldn’t say there’s something wrong with music. I think that, as a culture, we just gotta get back to making meaningful music. Not music just to make bread and make money, but music that makes people feel something. Feel good, you know, feel inspired.

“If you go back to any classic album you think is classic and you listen to it, something about that album inspires you,” he continued. “Music is meant to inspire people, it’s meant to be the soundtrack of our culture. If 20 years from now, people want to understand our world based off of the music we listening to today, what would they be getting? I mean, that’s what I think about it, you know what I’m saying? It’s a lot of greats out there, still a lot of young artists that came from that time that’s doing their thing. I would have to put [Chris Brown] in my Mount Rushmore, he a young GOAT.” Meanwhile, for more news and updates on Mario, check back in with HNHH.

6LACK Gives His Take On The Greatest Atlanta Rappers Of All Time

Recently 6LACK appeared on All Up In My Grill to discuss a number of different topics. One of the longer discussions they have is about rappers from 6LACK’s native Atlanta. He’s asked about his “Mount Rushmore” which is shorthand for the four best/most legendary artists. ”If I could combine Andre and Big Boi into like a connected person on Mount Rushmore, then I would put OutKast right there,” he began. “I’m gonna jump to the new era because these two artists hand in hand have changed the sound of music today, Future and Yung Thug.”

6LACK also took the opportunity to flex just how many legends Atlanta has. “This is where it gets a little tricky because we’ve got T.I., we’ve got Jeezy, we’ve got Luda, we’ve got Gucci. I’m gonna give it to Tip because he had such an impact on my school year.” Even after discussing his Mount Rushmore of Atlanta rappers, he had more names to offer. He cited Jermain Dupri, Gucci Mane, Goodie Mob, Jeezy, and Usher as influences on his career. He also took the opportunity to express his love for hot lemon-pepper wings. You can check out the full interview below.

In between the two he released the 6pc Hot EP which featured Lil Baby. That EP went on to debut at number 15 on the Billboard 200.

6LACK has spent much of his time in between albums delivering guest vocals. Last year he teamed up with Jessie Reyez for a song called “FOREVER.” He also teamed up with J. Cole and Bas for a standout track on Cole’s most recent studio album in 2021. What do you think of 6LACK’s picks for the best rappers to ever come out of Atlanta? Timbaland Delivers A Unique Hip-Hop Mount Rushmore

Timbaland is easily one of the greatest producers to ever grace the genre of hip-hop. Moreover, he has done some exceptional work in the pop and rock spaces, as well. One can just look at his work with One Republic, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake to understand what we mean. Overall, the producer will go down as a legend, and at this point, he is already considered as such. These designations are absolutely deserved, and it’s good to see the artist getting a ton of shine in interviews and other forms of media.

Additionally, Timbaland has been paying homage to the greats, whenever he can. For instance, he was on the I Am Athlete podcast, where he was asked to give his hip-hop Mount Rushmore. “Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, they changed my life,” Timbaland said. “I started getting more into it. Rakim who really set the bar high for me. I was like, ‘Oh, this bubblegum rap gotta go.’ Then Big Daddy Kane, you know what I’m saying? Then I was like, for me, like who is this? Then came LL Cool J. I’m goin’ from my DJ career. I’m naming them from that perspective.”

Timbaland Honors The Greats

From there, Timbaland continued to name the people who helped him throughout his career. Whether it be as a producer or just as a DJ, the artist got to see the history of the genre play out. “And then there was RUN-DMC. RUN-DMC might’ve been before LL Cool J because RUN-DMC had a lot of lyrics and they was poppin,’” Timbaland explained. “Now, if you want to talk about lyrics, I’m goin’ by what moved and changed lives. Then after that, then came DJ Premier and Guru. Then Wu-Tang, Method Man. Then came, I can say after that, Fat Joe and Big Pun, for me. But, then Outkast. Then Ludacris.”

While this might be a crowded Mount Rushmore, you cannot blame the super producer for including so many people. After all, hip-hop has a ton of amazing artists who have influenced the current generation. Let us know who would make your hip-hop Mount Rushmore, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the hip-hop world.

Nick Cannon’s Female Rap Mount Rushmore Includes Nicki Minaj And Missy Elliot

If there’s one thing hip-hop loves to debate, it’s the genre’s various Mount Rushmores. There’s West Coast vs. East, old school vs. new school and of course, male vs. female. The latest lyricist to share their opinion on the best of the best from artists of the opposite sex is Nick Cannon, who spoke with Bootleg Kev about which women’s faces he would have carved into the historic monument.

Unsurprisingly, Nicki Minaj was one of the first names to come up in conversation. “I think [she’s] the female GOAT,” the podcast host told his guest. “She is,” Cannon wholeheartedly agreed. “First of all, let’s not disrespect Nicki. [She’s] a GOAT, whatever her gender is. She’s one of the coldest artists in the last decade. We can’t sleep on her skill, her pen, sonically. She changed the game,” he insisted, the passion evident in his voice. “‘Monster’? That was her record,” the California native added, referring to Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy fan favourite, which also features Rick Ross.

Nick Cannon Reveals His Female Rap Mount Rushmore

“The only person, to me, that has the same level of talent, and that we should even be comparing her to, is Lauryn Hill,” Cannon went on to say, bringing the Fugees starlet into the chat. “Or Missy [Elliott],” he quickly added. “Those three, that’s the Mount Rushmore.” Kev chimed in with some thoughts on the final addition, noting, “Missy, out of the three we just named, has my favourite music… [She] had a four or five album run that was just like, ‘Jesus Christ.’ And she was working with Timbaland, and helping write for f*cking Ginuwine.”

Now that the interview is making rounds online, social media is calling Nick Cannon out for leaving several major players off his list. Among them are Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, and Queen Latifah, all of whom have been huge contributors to shaping both the culture and the music industry throughout their respective careers. Which artists would we find on your female rap Mount Rushmore? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop news updates.

E-40, Ice Cube & Too $hort Debate The Mount Rushmore Of East Coast

Ice Cube, E-40, Too $hort, and Snoop Dogg form the Mount Rushmore of the West Coast. Each artist has over 30 years under their belt in the rap game. In 2020, they decided to join forces for a West Coast supergroup under the moniker Mount Westmore.

Cube, 40 and Too Short recently sat down with Talib Kweli on The People’s Podcast where they discussed who the East Coast counterparts would be when it comes to a Mount Westmore. The three rappers debated with Kweli on who belongs on the Mount Rushmore of the East Coast. E-40, Short and Cube agreed that Jay-Z and Nas belong in the top four positions, along with Busta Rhymes. However, it was the fourth position that was up for grabs.

Co-host Jasmin Leigh said that the list isn’t limited to artists from New York City rappers. That’s when Talib suggested that Redman deserves the fourth spot. He also said a Wu-Tang member, like Ghostface Killah, was also a candidate to round out the list.

“All of Wu-Tang is dope to me so I don’t know who we would put,” 40 added.

Too Short then suggested that Fat Joe would also be a solid contender. However, the conversation then extended to legends from the 80s such as KRS-one.

“You got to be a little more lightweight, a little more current,” 40 continued. “We need to put them in a whole different category. Them dude are super legends.”

Earlier this month, Mount Westmore released their debut album, Snoop, Cube, 40, $hort, including previously released singles like “Bad MFs.” However, it seems like fans could expect even more music from the legendary artists in the future. Short previously explained that they would be releasing more “volumes” to follow their debut album. No word on when we could expect them to deliver their next project but it seems like they could have a major 2023 ahead of them.

Chris Brown Names Jay-Z, Big L, Biggie, and 2Pac On His Mount Rushmore Of Rap

Chris Brown

Social media was set ablaze last year with people debating on who should be on their Mount Rushmore of hip hop from the last decade. It seems as if the conversation is still lingering as people are still debating on which four rappers should have their faces on the side of the mountain.

In a new interview with LA Leakers, Chris Brown revealed who his Mount Rushmore of rap is, and even took one person off to add another.

“JAY-Z, Nas, Big L, and 2Pac,” Brown said when asked about who his Mount Rushmore of rap is. However, after giving it some thought, he decided to replace one of the artists with another legendary NYC MC.

“Skrrt, put Biggie, in the spot of Nas!” Brown said. “I love Nas, damn, it’s f*ckin’ up! Damn, hold up I’m sorry. Rakim in there too, I’m sorry! That’s all mine. Everybody I said, those are in my Mt. Rushmore. I made my own Mt. Rushmore.”

While Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, and Pac might be common names when talking about the Mount Rushmore of hip-hop, many initially left Big L out of the conversation, making him a surprising edition to Brown’s list.

Chris Brown recently dropped his 10th studio album Breezy, and after only selling 84,000 units the first week, Brown claims that he only receives support when he’s doing bad rather than when he is doing good.

“July 8th breezy deluxe album,” he wrote in his Instagram Stories. “Not that it matters…SEEMS LIKE YALL ONLY INVEST IN THE NEGATIVE STORIES ABOUT ME. CHRIS GETS IN TROUBLE (THE WHOLE WORLD IS ON it). Chris drops album [crickets]. I’m back on my gangsta sh*t. It’s BRACKING at all times.”

Fans Oppose Lil Baby’s Inclusion In The Latest Mount Rushmore Meme Featuring Atlanta Rappers

It seems that every so often, the “Mount Rushmore” conversation resurfaces on Twitter, bringing with it another round of debate. Over the past few weeks, Mount Rushmore memes have returned in a big way thanks to a Rap Caviar post about the Mount Rushmore of the 2010s. While that debate mainly revolved around the absence of Nicki Minaj, the latest iteration has inspired even more spirited debate thanks to a generational disconnect and the controversial inclusion of one much newer rapper, Lil Baby.

The new meme posits the “GOATs of Atlanta” — i.e. the “greatest of all time” rap acts from The Big Peach — as Jeezy, Future, Rich Homie Quan, and Lil Baby. Leaving aside the fact that no rapper who debuted before 2000 appears, fans opposed Lil Baby’s inclusion, as the younger rapper has only had two studio album releases since breaking out in 2018 with Harder Than Ever. While Lil Baby has expanded his catalog with joint albums like Voice Of The Heroes with Lil Durk and Drip Harder with Gunna.

Hip-hop fans were also put off by the omission of higher-profile faces like Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Outkast, and T.I. Some fans also questioned the inclusion of Rich Homie Quan, whose contributions, while notable, were also decidedly limited thanks to Quan’s relatively short run of impactful hits.

You can see some of the responses below.

Nicki Minaj Reacts To A Theoretical Mount Rushmore Of 2010s Rap That She’s Not On: ‘Wow’

“The Mount Rushmore of [blank]” has become a common framework people like to use to establish who are the best or most important figures of a certain field. For example, The Rock once shared his list of people who would be on his personal Mount Rushmore of wrestling. Now there’s a Mount Rushmore of 2010s rap making the rounds, and Nicki Minaj (who was not included on it) has some thoughts… or rather, one concise but open-ended one.

This afternoon, the Twitter account for Spotify’s popular RapCaviar playlist shared a rendering of a 2010s rap Mount Rushmore, and the graphic features Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and one blank spot. The tweet asks, “Who takes the fourth spot on the Mount Rushmore of the 2010s?” Minaj saw that list and had a simple response, replying on Twitter, “Wow.”

Of course, “wow” could mean a lot of things. Perhaps Minaj is upset that she wasn’t one of the initial three rappers chosen. Aside from her own exclusion, maybe she doesn’t agree with RapCaviar’s picks. Or, maybe seeing Drake, Lamar, and Cole all together gave her perspective on how great hip-hop was in the 2010s and she was responding to that with awe. Whatever the case, the image certainly got a reaction out of Minaj.

It’s not hard to make a case for Minaj to appear on this Mount Rushmore. Her four studio albums (all released in the 2010s) have all been certified Platinum at least once, her first two topped the Billboard 200 chart, and her most recent two achieved chart peaks at No. 2. During the decade, between her own songs and featured appearances, she had 16 top-10 singles, including top-3 highlights like “Super Bass” and “Anaconda.” She also racked up ten Grammy nominations during the 2010s and has been dubbed by many as the “queen of rap.”
