Zack Fox Returns With Soulful “Wood Tip” EP

If you know anything about Zack Fox, you know that he is one of the funniest people on the planet. He has hosted numerous shows throughout his career, and his Twitter account will always have you laughing. Additionally, Fox has proven himself to be a solid musician. The man has a few hits to his name, including the incredibly catchy “fafo.”

With Christmas just a week away, it would appear as though Fox has a gift for his fans. This early present comes in the form of a four-track EP called “Wood Tip.” Although Fox is mostly a comedian, fans will be very surprised by the direction of this new EP. Instead of delivering his signature hilarious raps, Fox has come through with a soulful project that has an 80s twist to it.

Since this project is only four tracks long, it won’t take you long to get through it. The longest song here is “can’t fight the devil” which comes complete with a feature from Diamond Cafe. Additionally, Diamond Cafe is also on the song “holdin’ on.” For the most part, however, Fox handles the singing by himself. Overall, you may find yourself surprised by just how solid his voice is here.

Fans are already praising the project, and it is easy to see why. The production throughout the project is stunning, and it matches the winter vibe quite nicely. There is a nice bit of replay value here, and if you love this kind of music, then Fox’s latest effort is right up your alley. Moving forward, we hope he continues to explore this sound.

As always, you can stream the new project, down below. Additionally, you can head to the comments section to give your thoughts on this surprising new EP. Furthermore, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Young Dolph Shines On Posthumous Album, “Paper Route Frank”

Young Dolph had an amazing career that inspired numerous artists from the Memphis area. His tragic passing last year sent shockwaves throughout the music world, and it remains hard to fathom what happened. Overall, it is just a truly sad situation.

Although he is no longer with us, Dolph had a lot of music in the vault. Like many artists who have passed on, his estate took over his catalog, and now, a posthumous album has arrived. This project is called Paper Route Frank and it contains 13 tracks. Additionally, there are features here from Gucci Mane, Key Glock, and more.

Young Dolph Singles

Before the release of the album, there were two singles in the form of “Get Away” and “Old Ways.” As you can hear above, “Old Ways” was a smooth track that contained a lavish piano-based beat. Moreover, Dolph was delivering some of his signature flows in that deep voice that ultimately made him so fun to listen to. Overall, it was a solid indication of how this album would sound.

As for the rest of the project, we get that same iconic Young Dolph sound. Bandplay, Drumma Boy, Sosa 808, CEOO, and Dun Deal are all credited as producers on this album, and they did a phenomenal job with the sound. Everything here sounds cohesive, and the project is a great way to pay homage to someone who meant so much to so many.

Jim Jones Rallies The VL Crew For “Jim Jones Presents: 12 Days Of Xmas”

There might not be another rapper who is as dedicated to spreading holiday cheer like Jim Jones. Over the course of his career, he’s consistently blessed fans with holiday records and albums. In 2006, he dropped off A Dipset Xmas. Two years later, he followed it up with the release of A Tribute To Bad Santa Starring Mike Epps.

Nearly 16 years later, and he’s returned with his latest Christmas album, Jim Jones Presents: 12 Days Of Xmas. The rapper’s latest project is a compilation effort that highlights the talent on his VL imprint. Along with Rayy Rayy, who supplies comedic relief during the skits, Jim allows his roster of artists to shine across the board. Though the comedian provides skits, he also has his own track with the titular track.

“Comedy and music has always been synonymous for me. One compliments the other,” said Jim Jones. “I’ve been watching Rayy Rayy grind and make so many people laugh since I’ve first noticed him during the pandemic. He’s helped with the decision to start signing comedians not verbally through conversation but through his comedy. So when I decided to make the Christmas album 12 days of Christmas it was only right I have Rayy Rayy host for his debut on vamplife comedy.”

12 Days Of Xmas provides some familiar holiday sounds while updating them to reflect the soundscape of New York’s scene.

Little Simz Releases New Project “No Thank You”

In the past six years since releasing Stillness In Wonderland, Little Simz has truly lived up to the potential that everyone saw in her early on. The British rapper made a statement on GREY Area in 2019, cementing her as a generational voice in the UK. Since then, she’s gone on to collect plenty of awards and star in Top Boy before unleashing last year’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.

Fans might have thought that they would have to wait until 2023 for a new album from Little Simz. She barely released any music this year but last week, she announced that she was coming through with a new body of work.

Today, Simz shared her new album, NO THANK YOU. The 10-song effort has a run-time of nearly 50 minutes without any features credited. However, the project is entirely produced by SAULT’s INFLO. The results speak for themselves as Simz’s lucid flows and penmanship meet the versatile musicality of INFLO’s production. Together, they came through with a buzzer beater for Album of The Year.

As the album dropped, Simz shared a brief statement regarding the project.

emotion is energy in motion.
honour your truth and feelings.
eradicate fear.
boundaries are important.”

Hopefully, the release of NO THANK YOU leads to a tour in 2022. Press play on Little Simz’s new project and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Sha EK Delivers On “Return Of The Jiggy”

Sha Ek’s efforts this year are worthy of the rookie of the year title. After all, he Bronx drill rapper cemented his name with a consistent string of releases this year. In September, he unveiled Face Of The What, his debut album. Paired with a string of singles and three-song packs, he’s ascended as one of the hottest rappers to come out of New York this year.

As 2022 comes to an end, Sha EK is evidently making an effort to stand out with one final offering. On Friday, he blessed fans with his latest release, Return Of The Jiggy to sum up a solid year. The 14-song project drops shortly after he released O To The G.

Return Of The Jiggy is even more tuned into expanding the Bronx drill sound with a wide-range of producers. Though Fast Life Beats and 083CHEE have their fingerprints across the tracklist, Sha EK also links up with the likes of Droski, donzi, Shah Major, YoSixty, Young Madz, and more.

Though it’s only been a few months since Face Of The What, Sha EK captures his growth on Return Of The Jiggy. The rapper reflects on overcoming adversity, as well as using rap as a vehicle to make something of himself. It’s another impressive outing from Sha EK that further proves why he is one of the coldest out of the Bronx.

Sha EK is certainly only getting started. With two projects under his belt in a matter of months, he’s setting the stage for what should be a helluva a year in 2023.

Bun B &Statik Selektah Release “Trillstatik 2”

Two hip-hop heavy-hitters from different scenes have joined forces once again. Bun B and Statik Selektah have teamed up for their latest collaborative project, Trillstatik 2. Along with Bun’s Houston drawl and charisma and Statik’s classy East Coast production, there’s a host of amazing features. Some have returned from their first album together, like Big K.R.I.T, Smoke DZA, Haile Supreme, Termanology, and Paul Wall. Also, there are new exciting names like Boldy James, Dave East, Styles P, 38 Spesh, and Papoose.

While this release is surely exciting and successful for the Houston icon, it’s also a time of sad reminiscence. Recently, Bun B posted on Instagram on the 15-year anniversary of his partner Pimp C’s tragic passing. He wrote a touching message for his fellow UGK star, acknowledging how making music has been different for him ever since.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t feel the loss,” he expressed. “I just find better ways to cope with it. Missed and loved but appreciated for the time we did have with you. Your spirit lives on in your music and your legacy lives on through your kids. The trillest ever born. They’ll never be another. Love you bro. And it’s still UGK For Life! #LongLiveThePimp.

“I haven’t really enjoyed making music since Pimp passed away,” he confessed to HipHopDX earlier this year. “And so now that I get to make music with friends and I’m not under any contractual obligation, I make music because I want to not because I have to, so it’s a different experience for me. For me, it just has to be fun or I’m not going to do it. I just don’t want to do it.”

Meanwhile, the fun and passion really comes through on Trillstatik 2. For example, the beats are lush and structured to perfection, with Statik slowing down his New York sound just a bit for Bun’s flow. The variety of guests on the project also makes it feel like a dynamic listen. However, maybe the most mind-blowing part about this album is that it was recorded and streamed live from scratch on December 7th. What’s more is that Bun B teases a third installment on the very last track.

Also, you’ll probably recognize a few great samples on this record that you’ve heard on other gems this year. For example, “In My Hand” has the same sample as redveil’s “pg baby” from this year’s excellent learn 2 swim. Moreover, on the lyrical end, Bun B’s as sharp as ever. He’s demonstrated his evergreen skill on other cuts like this year’s “BULLETZ AND BROKEN GLASS” with RJ Payne and fellow legend Ice-T.

What did you think of this album? Let us know in the comments below. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can find Bun B and Statik Selektah’s Trillstatik 2 on your preferred streaming service.
