Styles P Releases New Project “Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf”

Styles P plans to leave his solo career behind for good but his fans won’t be left empty handed.

This week, the rapper came through with his latest body of work, Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf. Unfortunately, it also marks the second to last album that he’ll unveil in his career. Ghost comes through with gritty, hardcore bars over grimy East Coast production. Though it’s not a boundary-pushing album, it’s a firm reminder of why Styles P stands as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

The 13-song tracklist includes appearances from Bucky and Brady Watt, who appears on the previously released single, “Death Before Dishonor.” On the production side, Styles P enlists Vinny Idol, Black Saun, Ty Feif, as well as his own son, Noah Styles, among others.

In October 2022, the Yonkers MC announced that he would be releasing two solo albums before stepping back from hip-hop. Thankfully, he won’t be entirely moved from hip-hop. He revealed that he remains one-third of The LOX and will continue to contribute to future group efforts.

“I will be retiring late 2023 as far as my solo career is concerned,” Styles P wrote. “I have two more solo projects for y’all and I’m Out!!! I’ll be on deck for all things LOX music, shows etccc.”

He added that he was also stepping down from his position at Juices 4 Life.

Popcaan Shares His Latest Album “Great Is He”

Popcaan’s starting the year off on the right foot with the release of his latest project, Great Is He.

The Jamaican star’s new project marks his third release under the OVO banner since signing to the label in 2016. This time, he delivers a strong 17-song effort that boasts appearances from Drake, Burna Boy, Toni-Ann Singh, and Chronic Law.

Great Is He includes several previously released singles, such as “Skeleton Cartier,” “Set It,” “Next To Me” featuring Toni-Ann Singh, and the Drake-assisted, “We Caa Done,” which accompanied the album announcement.

Though he’s already one of the leading artists of the genre, Popcaan’s new album could kick off a new chapter in his career. Despite the worldwide acclaim and a wide fanbase in the U.S., Popcaan has yet to travel to America. However, with the release of Great Is He, it seems that he’s looking to finally tread across the U.S.A. in the near future.

“Why they let me into everywhere except America?? something not right!!! Well i would like to see what America look like,” he wrote on Twitter. “Let’s start the 1st time in America campaign today!!! #GIHE Go!”

Popcaan’s new album comes nearly three years after the release of his last solo project, FIXTAPE. However, he later joined forces with OVO affiliate, Preme, for their joint project, Link Up.

Lil Yachty Takes A Chance On New Album “Let’s Start Here”

Lil Yachty showcases his versatility more than ever on his latest project, Let’s Start Here.

In the last few months, the narrative surrounding Lil Yachty’s artistry has shifted exponentially. From the release of the viral single, “Poland” to his contributions on Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, Yachty’s undoubtedly grown as an artist. However, even then, critics and fans considered him a part of the mumble rap pack.

Let’s Start Here is a leap in a new direction for Lil Yachty. His latest project veers away from rap entirely for a psychedelic rock-influenced effort. The project boasts 14 songs in total with an array of uncredited features. Teezo Touchdown, Baby K, Foushée, Justine Skye, and more contribute to Let’s Start Here. On the production side, Yachty claims credit on 12 out of the 14 songs. Additionally, SADPONY, Justin Raisen, and Patrick Wembley heavily contribute to the tracklist.

Last night, Lil Yachty hosted an album listening party in New Jersey with Drake and Offset in attendance. He explained that the ambitious sound was a result of people counting him out as an artist over the years.

“I think I created this just because I really wanted to be taken serious as an artist. Not just some Soundcloud rapper, not just some mumble rapper, not some guy that made one hit. You know, I wanted to be taken serious because music is like everything to me. I respect all walks of music. Not just rap and hip-hop but everything,” Lil Yachty said. “If we gon’ be honest, there’s just a lot of n***as started copying the swag. And I felt like, cool, well, if everyone can do this then that’s fine but I’m going to show you what y’all can’t do.”

Marking his debut project, the 12-song effort is a concise and strong effort that further showcases his range and versatility. It’s Amazing boasts several previously released singles such as “Baby Goat,” “Bag I Know,” and “Ain’t Care.”

His new project also delivers a string of excellent collaborations. Lil Uzi Vert joins forces with Bouba on the bubbly, “Win A Lot”; Icewear Vezzo assists on disco-drill banger “Made It Off Rapping.” Then, there are a number of appearances from some of NYC’s drill artists like Sha EK, B-Lovee, and CJ Goon.

Overall, It’s Amazing is a promising effort that showcases the bright future ahead of Bouba Savage. Last year, the rapper inked a deal with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Highbridge Tha Label, who released It’s Amazing. Evidently, Highbridge currently has one of the most promising new artists to emerge out of New York City in recent times. It’s quite clear by the cover art itself, which immortalizes the infamous moment at Yams Day when A$AP Rocky threw Bouba Savage off of the stage. Considering how young Bouba is, as well, he’s undoubtedly only beginning to get his feet wet.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last we hear from Bouba Savage this year. Press play on his new project below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts on his new effort.

“Champagne Jack” and “The Cost” both landed on DSPs prior to Noble’s grand return. Speaking on the latter, he previously said, “Nothing in life is free. Everything has a cost. At times that cost is too high or too unknown and we’re left to figure it out. This song is a reflection of the toll that cost can take on a person.”

“The high cost of fame, the high cost of dreams, the high cost of love, friendships and relationships… it can be a bit heavy to consider and yet as social beings, interaction is necessary. All of our desires are reachable as long as we are willing to pay the cost,” the Kansas native went on.

Along with the project’s arrival, Noble has markedly declared “whatever it is” to be the focus track. Feel A Way marks his first release since Rebirth of Gene in March 2014, which made it to the iTunes R&B Albums Top 20 chart.

Boldy James Drops New Album “Indiana Jones” Amid Car Crash Recovery

Even though he recently suffered a nasty car crash, one of hip-hop’s most prolific artists is still delivering. Moreover, Boldy James just shared his new collaborative project with producer RichGains, Indiana Jones. Furthermore, the adventurous new album reflects the Detroit MC’s ability to match his energy with any beat he faces.

When the world learned of a car crash that left Boldy in critical condition, many reached out with their condolences. However, no one could’ve guessed that a brand new project would land in listeners’ laps this week. In fact, they were probably too busy worrying about his other release this week. Moreover, he dropped a physical-only EP with frequent collaborator Real Bad Man on Monday (January 16).

Meanwhile, Indiana Jones sees Bo engaging with more contemporary trap production and grander instrumental pallets. While his work in the genres of drumless, boom-bap, and coke rap is monumental, he aims to impress with each release. Still, this new album is one of his most refreshing yet, even considering his incredible 2022 run. Moreover, he released five albums from December 2021 to December 2022, and this is practically a sixth entry in that feat. Furthermore, with each new drop (which seems to happen every other Friday now), Boldy cements his status as one of the best today.

However, what did you think of Boldy James’ new album with RichGains, Indiana Jones? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out the tracklist down below. Memphis is running things, once again, partially due to the group of women who’ve been dishing out heat. Gloss Up has been among those who’ve continued to show out with each opportunity. Following the success of songs like “Don’t Play With Me” and her stand-out verse on HitKidd’s “Shabooya,” the Quality Control rapper is ready to make her mark on the rap game.

Today, she unveiled her new body of work, Before The Gloss Up. Her debut project on Quality Control boasts 13 songs in total with a healthy mix of collaborations and solo tracks that showcase her strengths. During her appearance on HNHH’s On The Club Up, Gloss discussed how the success of her crew, including GloRilla, has pushed her even further.

“Now [Memphis] influenced me a lot, like, they giving me a lot of faith to keep going,” she said. “‘Cause it’s like, we the first girls that’s out of Memphis that’s actually doing something. For a long time, it’s been the dudes getting it on, so now it’s like, the girls getting recognition. It’s cool cause everybody supporting us right now, and I like it.”
