The album boasts appearances from some of the industry’s finest, including Future, DJ Khaled, Wale, The-Dream, Teyana Taylor, and many more.

The three previously released singles “Shaq and Kobe” “Go To Hell,” and “Lyrical Eazy,” all appear on the project. “Go To Hell,” just dropped earlier today, and it incorporates the captivating use of a sample. The song is a sample of “Shout,” a track by the iconic group Tears For Fears. These tracks offered a glimpse into the lyrical and sonic chemistry that these two hip-hop titans bring to the table. However, there’s many more gems that people will be surprised to find on the album, including “Fine Lines” ft. Wale and The Dream. Wale appearing on the album signals an MMG reunion between Rick Ross, Meek and Wale. Ross has hinted at this before in previous interviews while promoting the project.

Kevin Abstract Hops Over To Indie Rock On “Blanket” LP

For the past month or so, Kevin Abstract has been on a torrent run dropping singles left and right. When this happens, you know a new album is in the works. Those assumptions were correct in this case as well, with the BROCKHAMPTON leader making a full return to his solo career. The news broke the day he released the lead single, “Blanket.”

In fact, that also was the title track. Blanket is Kevin’s first album since 2019’s ARIZONA BABY. He was still a part of the alternative hip-hop group during that time. However, when they announced their disbandment in 2022, that sort of opened the floodgates for the leader to focus on his own material. Hence we have this LP before us today.

If you heard the title track, you know that Kevin decided to make a total 180 genre-wise. This 13-track tape is an exploration across the indie rock space. If you want to get a more detailed idea of where he wanted to go with this album, check out the Apple Music link above. But, here is a little precursor for you. “His [album] covers many of the same themes [as his previous records], though from the vantage point of someone wiser, more worn, and less susceptible to the whirlwinds of love and love lost.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new album from Kevin Abstract, “Blanket?” Do you think it was the right move for him to ditch rap and go to an entirely different genre? Which songs are you enjoying the most so far? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Majid Jordan Delivers Nine-Track Project “Good People”

Majid Jordan is an r&b group that has been at it for a while at this point. Overall, they have a ton of great songs and albums. They became largely known for their work with Drake and OVO as a whole. However, they have been able to carve out their very own lane for themselves. It has been a joy to watch the group grow, and fans would say the same thing. That said, sometimes, they can take a long time between projects, which has left some fans waiting in the lurch.

Luckily, over the last month or so, the group has been dropping a plethora of singles. Their most recent single is a track called “Violet” which had a run time of over 7 minutes. So far, the three singles have created a nice base for a project. Today, that project was released and it is called Good People. As you can see below, the album is only nine tracks long, which makes it fairly bite-sized. However, the songs do have meat to them, which extends the runtime to about 42 minutes.

Eminem Updates “The Marshall Mathers LP2” With Expanded Edition Near Its 10-Year Anniversary

2013 was a year for a lot of standout rap records. Drake’s Nothing Was The Same, Kanye West’s Yeezus, ASAP Rocky’s LONG.LIVE.A$AP, and Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP2. In fact, it has been almost 10 years to the day that the Detroit icon made his return. He took a three-year hiatus even after fans were enjoying his 2010 record, Recovery.

Of course, LP2 is a sequel to arguably Eminem’s best album, The Marshall Mather LP from 2000. It was the record that featured the classics like “Stan,” “The Real Slim Shady,” and many more. While the follow-up is not as iconic as the original plenty of quality landed on it too. To celebrate its 10th birthday, Em decided to add an exclusive song and instrumentals of all the singles for the project.

According to Southpawers, the additional track, “Don’t Front” featuring Buckshot, was only available to those who ordered the Call of Duty: Ghosts and the album bundle. Eminem’s ties to the video game come from the trailer for it, which included “Survival” as the theme song. Furthermore, the game also came out the same day MMLP2 dropped. On top of the song, Eminem also provided instrumental versions of the singles. Those being “Berserk,” “Rap God,” “Survival,” “The Monster” with Rihanna, and “Headlights” with Nate Ruess.

Don Trip Drops New Album “Red October”

Don Trip has kept himself busy as of late, dropping off 10 albums and EPs in just the past year alone. He kicked things off with his Gotham City EP in January, unveiling yet another EP, iHeartStrippersToo, the following month. He went on to unveil a full-length offering, The Devil You Know, in March. The 38-year-old tapped Starlito, Eddie Valero, Casino Jizzle, Kendrick P. and more for the LP.

He released two more EPs, Shoulders Of Giants and Die Another Day, before releasing Long Live Pif in June. The album pays homage to the late up-and-coming Memphis rapper, who was shot and killed in September of 2020. LPs Fireworks and Hell’s Kitchen followed, with his second to last full-length offering, 1207 James St., coming out at the end of September. Now, the rapper’s back with yet another new album, Red October. The eight-track effort boasts a lone posthumous appearance from Pif, otherwise consisting only of soulful bars from the Tennessee native.

Don Trip Is Back With His Tenth Project Of The Year

The LP leads with the focused track “Man On Fire” before moving into the mellow and sincere love song “Spenanite Bag.” Later on in the album, he spits about balancing his career and family life on “Kaylee’s Birthday.” The artist meditates on the struggles of trying to provide while on his “grind” before moving onto the boastful, “Fourth and Fifty” and finishing things off with bouncy and fun “Sideline Pop.”

Don Trip isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, and it’s safe to say that fans can expect to hear more from the prolific hitmaker in the near future. 38 Spesh & Elcamino Team Up For Gritty New EP “Martyrs Prayer II”

As brief as EPs can be, sometimes they are truly the distilled and absolute best parts of an artistic link-up. Here to prove that are rapper Elcamino and rapper-producer 38 Spesh, who take up bar-spitting duties and behind-the-board responsibilities respectively on Martyrs Prayer II. Moreover, if you are a fan of Griselda, you’ve probably heard these names before; if you’re not but you love hip-hop of the Golden Age, you should check this out. It’s a concise, skillful, and often reflective and dense collection of six tracks, which equal all killer and no filler. Spesh’s production is dusty, nonetheless versatile, and punchy, whereas the They Spit On Jesus MC is a compelling and narratively talented spitter.

Furthermore, Martyrs Prayer II‘s title indicates a somber reflection on lives of crime and struggle, which is definitely reflected on a few bars and beats. Just look at the languid bass on “No Drums” or the wistful keys on “Streets Don’t Love Us” for indications of that, in addition to Elcamino’s wordplay and picture-painting. Of course, this chemistry between him and 38 Spesh is hardly a shocker, as they have collaborated on full-length projects to great success before. For example, there’s the 2020 record Sacred Psalms, plus many other one-off tracks.

Meanwhile, as pretty prolific figures within rap, it’s also not surprising that this is just one of their various musical endeavors form 2023. For 38 Spesh, one instance of this is the aptly titled Conway The Machine collab album, Speshal Machinery. All we can hope for is that it’s not the last thing they drop for the next couple of months, because this confident, grounded, and vintage take on boom-bap is always a welcome treat. If you haven’t heard Martyrs Prayer II yet, find it on your preferred streaming service- and if or once you have, let us know what you think about it in down there in the comments section.
