Lancey Foux Links With Underground UK Acts Fimiguerrero & Len For Joint LP “Conglomerate”

If you thought Lancey Foux was the guy in the underground UK drill scene, CONGLOMERATE is here to showcase some other acts on the rise. The highly versatile rapper and singer is working Fimiguerrero and Len, two extremely energetic talents that have come up with each other. Since 2019, both of them have proven to be as equally ambitious as Lancey. That’s especially true when it comes to expanding what listeners can come to expect from the subgenre. According to some fan discourse online, CONGLOMERATE was allegedly supposed to be a joint release between Fimiguerrero and Len.

If that’s true, it makes sense because Lancey is not on this album nowhere near as much as the unofficial tandem. This body of work is here to feature Fimi and Len, and hopefully, this will be there coming out party. It’s certainly possible for that to be true because these two are a blast to listen to. The lyrical content may not be strong, but most hip-hop fans know that isn’t drill’s MO. The chemistry and colorful beats are where this project thrives and its clear from the ethereal and dark opener “Blackbirds.” There are so many other great examples of taking the production in all sorts of directions, so check it out below.

Vory Asks “Who Don’t Like Me” On Latest Three-Song EP

Vory has had quite the career. In 2015, at age 17, he co-wrote Bryson Tiller’s hit single “Don’t.” In 2018, he won a Grammy Award for his work on The Carters’ (Beyonce and Jay-Z) album, Everything Is Love. The same year, he co-wrote Drake’s track “Mob Ties,” which appeared on his album Scorpion. He also signed to Capitol Records, releasing Lucky Me, his debut EP, after a couple of years of releasing singles independently. In 2021, he worked with Kanye West on Donda, Ye’s tenth studio album. After that, he released Lost Souls, his debut album, after signing with Dream Chasers and Universal Music Group following a departure from Capitol. The album also featured Ye and others.

Now, Vory is once again an independent artist, and it seems that he’s loving the life away from a record label. Who Don’t Like Me is the Louisville rapper/singer’s latest EP. The title track feels like he’s lifting the stress from being signed to a major label off his shoulders, talking about how he doesn’t care who likes him at this point. “Blood Money,” featuring Tracy T, is an understated track, with some impressive bass and a self-assured flow from Vory. The three tracks show off his blend of talents, talents that allowed him to work on music by some of the biggest names hip-hop and R&B have to offer. Musically, the EP goes from an anthemic trap-oriented banger to more R&B-focused, similar to a track by the aforementioned Bryson Tiller. At only three tracks and less than ten minutes, it is a quick listen by an underrated artist. Check out Who Don’t Like Me below.

SahBabii Returns From A Two-Year Absence With “Saaheem”

SahBabii had a lot of buzz surrounding him in the late 2010’s thanks to a couple of semi-viral singles. The biggest of those was his Loso Loaded collaboration “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick,” which has accumulated over 52 million plays on Spotify. His blends of melodic rap, pop rap, and trap on that cut were extremely intoxicating and its why it’s had sort of a cult-like following since. The S.A.N.D.A.S. project ranks as one of his most important records, including its follow-up Squidtastic. However, after those, SahBabii has been playing more of a background role, but he hasn’t totally disappeared either. For most of the 2020s, the 27-year-old has appeared on several major albums.

Some of them include Lyrical Lemonade’s debut All Is Yellow, NAV and Wheezy’s Emergency Tsunami, and Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter To You 4. On top of this, he hasn’t been the easiest to keep tabs on. His social media profiles are wiped of pretty much any updates. But SahBabii is reemerging right before the end of 2024 to give us a new album called Saaheem. Genius is billing this a sophomore LP, but it’s not totally confirmed. It’s led by just one single, “Lost All My Feelings,” which hit streaming back in 2023. Overall, the production is one of our favorite aspects of it as it all sounds well put together without many hiccups. See what you think of Saaheem and let us know what you think below.

FERG Gives Fans His Most Vulnerable Album Yet With “DAROLD”

FERG is back. The former ASAP Mob standout has been through a lot over the last few years. The most obvious of which is a name change. FERG has dropped from the ASAP from his stage name, which has allowed him to focus more on his craft as an individual. DAROLD, his latest album, is an example of this focus. The rapper manages to take his signature sound and refine it. The attempts to water his singular talents down with mainstream sounds has largely dissipated, and in its place is a batch of fun and off kilter songs.

FERG has generally been viewed as the goofy yin to ASAP Rocky’s yang. The rapper gets a bit more serious on DAROLD, however. Songs like “Casting Spells” and “Pool” are shocking admissions of stress and guilt set to somber, piano-driven beats. “Pool” is an especially poignant song about struggling with the desire to prove oneself as traditionally masculine. It’s a beautiful track, and one that would’ve been inconceivable coming from FERG just five years ago. The production on the album is uniformly stripped down, which proves to be a smart decision. FERG is an expressive emcee, and he sounds best when he has simple beats to anchor his ad-libs. This is evident on the bangers “Allure” and “Thought I Was Dead,” which has nothing to do with the new Tyler, The Creator song of the same name.

Ab-Soul Changes Up His Style On Moody New Album “Soul Burger”

Ab-Soul is quietly the most impressive lyricist on TDE. He was in contention with Kendrick Lamar for years, but now that Dot has started pgLang, the crown is inarguably his. Nobody raps like, or about the same things as Ab-Soul. Soul Burger contains his usual mixture of heady metaphors and juvenile humor, but it also branches out in way that previous Solo albums have not. This album has West Coast bangers, jazzy freakouts, and collaborations with non-TDE wordsmiths. It maintains Ab-Soul’s esoteric appeal and makes it more palatable than its been in years.

This unique balance in struck within the first couple songs. “9 Mile” and “Payday” pay tribute to the icons that influenced Ab-Soul, with the former being an obvious 8 Mile riff. The rapper is in rare form on these songs, dropping bars that will take a rewind or at least a few repeat listens to fully sink in. The solo Soulo tracks vary in terms of tone. Some are more aggressive, others more reflective, like “Peace” and the Soul Burger closer, “Righteous Man.” The variety of collabs is definitely helpful in keeping things moving, with emcees like Punch, Lupe Fiasco, and Vince Staples taking center stages and delivering stellar work. Soul is never outshined, however. Soul Burger is a triumph. Check it out.

Ella Mai Stuns Her Fans With Celebratory “3” EP

At the start of her career in the latter half of the 2010’s decade, London, England act Ella Mai was one of the trendiest R&B voices. She went viral for singles such as “Boo’d Up” and “Trip,” with the latter famously being remixed by Jacquees. However, she sort of faded a bit and stepped out of the limelight. She did lay down some features sporadically after 2018 for Chris Brown, Lil Durk, Wizkid, and most recently for Mustard’s Faith Of A Mustard Seed. But she’s been slowly working her way back in terms of her solo catalog. In 2022 she reappeared with her sophomore LP Heart On My Sleeve and then put out a deluxe almost a year later. Despite this, she’s been making more news for her relationship with Boston Celtics superstar and NBA champion boyfriend, Jayson Tatum.

They have stirred up pregnancy rumors and even matching “3” tattoos right behind their ears. Ironically, that ink has even more weight to it now, as 3 is the title of Ella Mai’s surprise EP. Fans have been running with theories that the lyrics on this three-song package are all references to their relationship (via Uproxx). The name of the EP certainly bolsters those beliefs as it could be a call back to the tattoo we just mentioned. While the speculation about their mysterious relationship is entertaining, a concrete reason as to why this EP is here is because Mai just turned 30! This is certainly a great way to celebrate the big day (November 3) and she felt there wasn’t a better time to drop. “My 30th birthday gift to you all ♏
3 songs. November 3rd. One of my favourite numbers. I’ve missed you all, three times over ❤,” she adorably wrote on IG. Check out 3 with the DSP links below and let us know what you think below.

Ralfy The Plug Paints Himself As “Grandmaster Ralfy” On His Fourth Project Of 2024

Ever since the untimely and unfair loss of Drakeo the Ruler nearly three yers ago, his brother Ralfy the Plug has vowed to carry the torch. “You did it by yo self you was a self made boss and a leader,” the Los Angeles rapper began in an IG tribute. “You was my idol and big brother and I learned a lot from you and I’m definitely gone make sure they still know the truth.” Overall, the equally prolific Ralfy has done so by releasing some posthumous material of Drakeo’s.

However, he’s also been making his sibling proud by working as hard as he did. You can say that his passing has inspired him to drop at an unconscious rate. Since the beginning of 2022, he’s put out over 10 unique projects, along with multiple deluxe versions. Over this weekend, Ralfy the Plug has added to that insane run with GRANDMASTER RALFY. It’s the fourth LP from him in 2024 and it’s also his beefiest. It’s 21 solo cuts but it manages to fall under an hour in runtime. Overall, you are getting typical Ralfy with erratic flows and quirky productions. In terms of the latter, there are multiple that impress us and some that only he can perform well on. “THE BLUE PRINT,” “AIN’T THAT DEEP,” and “NO BIG HOMIES” are some our favorites. But we want to hear yours so check it out and let us know in the comments.

Jay Worthy & DJ.Fresh Reunite For “Part 2” Of “The Tonite Show” Six Years Later

It’s been the West Coast’s year in 2024 thanks in part to Kendrick Lamar. But everyone else has been contributing heavily and with quality we may add. One of the steadiest in the underground from California, Jay Worthy, has been one of them ones this year, and he’s keeping his momentum going with The Tonite Show Part 2. The title may be familiar to some and that’s because this is the other half to the inaugural 2018 tape, The Tonite Show with Jay Worthy. That was a three-way collaborative effort between Jay, its producer, DJ.Fresh, and fellow MC, Mitchy Slick.

This marks the former’s fourth project of the year, with his 2024 featuring Affiliated 2, Magic Hour, and Time After Time. Every single tape has been a joint release, showcasing just how versatile Jay is. He you match him with just about anyone and he’s going to make something great happen. The Tonite Show Part 2 is 10 tracks and just 28 and a half minutes, so it’s not overstaying it’s welcome. On the first entry in this series, Fresh’s beat selection was bouncier and fit more for the summer. Things are a little different here, as the instrumentals feel more lowkey and subdued. It’s got some fans loving and others questioning the directional change as of now, so we want to hear what you have to say. Check out Jay and Fresh’s latest body of work, and then drop your thoughts in the comments.

Jacquees Pens Passionate, Sultry, & Intimate Songs For “Baby Making”

Cash Money Records R&B talent Jacquees is back with his fourth studio album called Baby Making and it’s purpose is clear. If you and your significant other are on that same wavelength and one of you needs to set the mood, the Georgia native has got you. This project was actually inspired by the singer preparing to welcome a child into the world, according to a press release. Jacquees credits his boss and label founder Birdman for the idea, saying, “What inspired Baby Making is me actually having a baby,” says. This year Birdman gave me the idea and I instantly mixed my creativity into my life.”

He goes on to add that he also concocted this tracklist “for the lovers.” Jacquees feels this was also a necessary release in general, stating, “This is what the world needs. Love and beautiful healthy happy babies.” We can definitely get down with that, and it’s clear it was created with lots of passion and care. You can also say that it was indirectly conjured with Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist in mind. Hilariously, he gave a little nudge to the couple on IG encouraging them to spin it for Thugger’s homecoming. “@thuggerthugger1 brudda this the welcome home music for you and Mariah TELLING YOU!!!!!!” Overall, Jacquees puts forth some of his most stunning vocal performances to date. There really aren’t many more gifted R&B talents than him and he’s reinstating that fact with Baby Making for sure.

Big Moochie Grape Is Back With A Vengeance On “Eat Or Get Ate 2”

Big Moochie Grape is back and making bangers once again after serving some time behind bars. The Memphis, Tennessee native served 14 months for parole violation, according to The FADER and it stemmed from a previous release from jail for a gun charge originally. After coming back to society, the PRE (Paper Route Emipre) signee wasted almost no time getting back in the studio. He collaborated with YouTube channel 4 Shooters Only to drop off his single “WAKE EM UP” via a “From The Block” performance. Since February, he’s been on a tear, and it’s lead to Big Moochie Grape delivering EAT OR GET ATE 2.

It’s a sequel to his first-ever LP, Eat Or Get Ate, which hit DSPs back in 2020. Four singles were a part of the rollout, including one with the late Big Scarr called “Trap A Lil Harder.” The title of that record translates pretty well to what Grape is doing on this project because he goes off on a lot of these tracks. The Young Dolph mentee brings a lot of sped-up flows to songs like the braggadocious opener “Crip Blue Hundreds.” BandPlay produces this cut, and we just have to say that this guy seems to never miss on a beat. He’s just as important as Moochie on this record and it’s clear they display some great synergy when they work together.
