On November 10, the Milwaukee Bucks were 2-8, enduring their worst start in a decade. They’re the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup champions and have etched their names in the history of the NBA.

In a dominant 97-81 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Las Vegas, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charge with a massive triple-double: 26 points, 19 rebounds, and ten assists. Damian Lillard added 23 points, including five three-pointers, as Milwaukee surged in the second half, outscoring OKC 46-31.

Antetokounmpo, already a two-time Kia NBA MVP and 2021 Finals MVP, earned NBA Cup MVP honors, cementing his status as one of the league’s all-time greats.

The Bucks were unstoppable throughout the in-season tournament, finishing a perfect 7-0. Their win also marked a historic turnaround: Milwaukee became the first NBA team to start 2-8 and then win 12 of their next 15 games.

The turning point came in the third quarter, where the Bucks outscored the Thunder 26-14, fueled by a 16-2 run that extended their lead to 20 points. Giannis dominated with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in the period, while Lillard added eight points to outscore OKC single-handedly.

Defensively, the Bucks shined, holding the Thunder to a season-low 81 points and a dismal 15.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Milwaukee thrived from deep, hitting 17-of-40 threes, outscoring OKC 51-15 from long range.

“To be the last team standing in this tournament, it feels great,” Lillard said postgame.

The Bucks now sit at 14-11 and look poised for an exciting rest of the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks are heading back to Las Vegas after a thrilling 114-109 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, securing their spot as the first team to reach consecutive NBA Cup semifinals.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charge with 37 points, 32 of which came in the first three quarters as Milwaukee built a 10-point advantage. The league’s leading scorer notched his 15th 30-point game and eighth 35-point game of the season, adding seven rebounds, four blocks, and two steals to his dominant performance.

Bobby Portis provided a crucial spark off the bench with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Damian Lillard came alive in the fourth quarter. Lillard tallied 15 of his 28 points in the final period, including a clutch step-back three to tie the game with 40.6 seconds left. Moments later, he sealed the victory with a thunderous go-ahead dunk.

The win continues a remarkable turnaround for the Bucks. After a dismal 2-8 start to the season left them near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee has surged with an 11-3 run over their last 14 games, including a perfect 5-0 in NBA Cup play. Now 6th in the East, the Bucks look poised to carry their momentum into Las Vegas as they chase NBA Cup glory.

adidas Basketball has officially revealed the Dame 9 “Bucks” colorway, a nod to Damian Lillard’s latest team and a continuation of his popular signature shoe line. The colorway pays homage to the Milwaukee Bucks’ iconic branding from the late 90s, reflecting the team’s bold identity.

Each release of the Dame 9 line will accompany a campaign film that captures the essence of “Dame Time”—a mindset defined by sharp focus, relentless drive, and unmatched determination. The newest film, “Welcome To The Neighborhood,” emphasizes the need for quick thinking and adaptability, whether on the court or in life, showcasing Lillard’s transition to his new home.

The Dame 9 features advanced technology designed for peak athletic performance. Weighing only 14.5 ounces, it offers enhanced mobility. The Nubuck toe cap provides extra durability in high-wear areas, while the Total Torsion support system ensures maximum force transfer throughout the foot. The internal Lycra bootie adds stability during quick cuts and jumps, while Lightstrike cushioning in the midsole keeps the shoe lightweight and protective. A strategic grip on the outsole enhances agility and control.

The Dame 9 “Bucks” will retail for $120 and will be available starting October 18, 2024, on adidas.com, select adidas stores, and retailers including Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Kids Foot Locker.

Damian Lillard Got Asked About GloRilla At Bucks Media Day And Said ‘It Ain’t Nothin Goin On’

Damian Lillard is going into his second season in Milwaukee as a member of the Bucks, after he was traded there in a stunning deal two summers ago. The pairing of Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo was supposed to create one of the most formidable tandems in the East, but the 2023-24 season didn’t go according to plan, as the Bucks got bounced in the first round by the Pacers, with both Giannis and Dame finishing that series watching from the sidelines with injuries.

This summer, the Bucks stayed pretty quiet, making a couple additions on the margins with Gary Trent Jr. and Delon Wright, but will mostly hope that they can stay healthy and challenge the Celtics, Knicks, and Sixers for a Finals berth. On Monday, Lillard and the rest of the Bucks met with the media, and the toughest question he faced wasn’t about what the Bucks need to do to take down the defending champs or make strides in a full offseason with Doc Rivers at the helm.

No, the toughest question came when someone asked Lillard about GloRilla shooting her shot at him at All-Star Weekend last year and whether anything was going on between the two stars.

Lillard has previously shot down questions about GloRilla, but this time was willing to divulge a bit more and have some fun with the question. “We know each other. She’s an artist, I’m an artist, but as far as anything else, it ain’t nothin’ goin’ on. That’s what I can tell you,” Lillard said.

That’s a professional answer from Dame, but it also provides the closest thing to clarity on whether there’s any relationship between he and the Memphis rapper.

Patrick Beverley Suspended Four Games for Game 6 Actions

Patrick Beverley’s season is over, but he has already been suspended for the 2024-25 campaign. According to ESPN, Beverley has been suspended four games for throwing a basketball at fans multiple times during Game 6 of the opening round of the playoffs.

Game 6 was the deciding game in the Milwaukee Bucks series. The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers. Later that night, Beverley had a spicy encounter with ESPN producer Malinda Adams, asking her to leave the postgame media scrum for not following his podcast.

Beverley is currently under investigation by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for throwing the ball and hitting a fan in the head. Police have placed detectives on the case “who are currently investigating this situation and take all accusations seriously.”

Beverley apologized on his podcast, stating, “I have to be better, and I will be better. That should have never happened. Regardless of what was said, that should have never happened. Simple as that.”

Beverley also issued a direct apology to Adams, which she accepted.

Damian Lillard Drops 25 but Loses in Return to Portland

Damian Lillard made his first visit to his former team, the Portland Trailblazers, as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. During the pregame announcement, the city showed they still had plenty of love for Dame Time during pregame introductions and a moving halftime tribute.

The Blazers got the best of the Bucks for the game, winning 119-116. Lillard has 25 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in his return.

After the game, Lillard revealed he never knew where the visitor’s locker room was in the Blazers arena while leaving a door open for a return to the franchise in the future.

“Because of how I feel about Portland,” Lillard said. “How I feel about the organization here and my time that I spent here, in my mind I’ve always felt like that’s how my career would end.

“Right now, I’m just in a space of like, this is where I am now. I’m in Milwaukee. I wanted the opportunity to contend, and our team has an opportunity to contend for this year and years to come, and I’m just living in that. But I definitely, when I was traded, I see a day where I’ll be in a Trail Blazer uniform again before I’m done.”

SOURCE SPORTS: Doc Rivers Fired by Philadelphia 76ers

Doc Rivers is officially the new head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. Rivers took the position less than 24 hours after the Bucks fired former coach Adrian Griffin.

Rivers comes to the Bucks literally off the sidelines, as he was calling games on ESPN with Mike Breen and Doris Burke.

According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Rivers was picked due to his history with tandems, as the Bucks have Giannis Antentokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Most recently, Rivers coached Joel Embiid and James Harden for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rivers was also an All-American guard for Marquette University, with his retired jersey already hanging in the Bucks’ home arena rafters.

“We wish Doc well and we look forward to documenting the next chapter of his coaching career. We have a deep roster of supremely talented commentators who will continue to serve NBA fans with tremendous skill, passion and expertise,” David Roberts, ESPN’s head of event and studio production, said in a statement.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Shatters Bucks' Franchise Record with 64-Point Explosion

In a historic performance, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to victory over the Indiana Pacers with a staggering 64 points, breaking Michael Redd’s franchise record of 57 points set 17 years ago. Giannis further solidified his dominance, securing the highest-scoring game of the 2023-24 NBA season and raising the bar by 10 points from his previous 54-point game against Indiana on Nov. 9.

The Bucks’ star joined an elite club of 12 players to ever reach 64 points in an NBA game, a feat Damian Lillard, another member of the exclusive group, described as “special to watch.” Notably, Giannis now holds the record for the second-highest-scoring game against Indiana this season and the third of his career. Additionally, he joined basketball legends like Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson, and Michael Jordan by achieving 64+ points and 14+ rebounds in a single game.

Giannis’ throwback-style performance included impressive shooting numbers of 20-28 from the field and 24-32 from the free-throw line, marking the most points scored without making a three-pointer since the 1979-80 season. The victory and Giannis’ record-breaking night underline his status as one of the NBA’s most dominant forces.
