Damian Lillard Drops 25 but Loses in Return to Portland

Damian Lillard made his first visit to his former team, the Portland Trailblazers, as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. During the pregame announcement, the city showed they still had plenty of love for Dame Time during pregame introductions and a moving halftime tribute.

The Blazers got the best of the Bucks for the game, winning 119-116. Lillard has 25 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in his return.

After the game, Lillard revealed he never knew where the visitor’s locker room was in the Blazers arena while leaving a door open for a return to the franchise in the future.

“Because of how I feel about Portland,” Lillard said. “How I feel about the organization here and my time that I spent here, in my mind I’ve always felt like that’s how my career would end.

“Right now, I’m just in a space of like, this is where I am now. I’m in Milwaukee. I wanted the opportunity to contend, and our team has an opportunity to contend for this year and years to come, and I’m just living in that. But I definitely, when I was traded, I see a day where I’ll be in a Trail Blazer uniform again before I’m done.”

You can see the highlights from Lillard’s performance below.

Damian Lillard Raps About NBA Future: ‘They Say I Should Do the Lakers’

Damian Lillard Passes Clyde Drexler to Become Trailblazers All-Time Leading Scorer

Damian Lillard is done for the 2022-23 season, but for the campaign, Lillard was his usual stellar self. He dropped 71 points in a game against the Houston Rockets and continued to light up the scoreboard with deep bombs from all over the court. But it wasn’t enough.

The Portland Trailblazers fell out of the Play-In Tournament race weeks ago and spelled the end of Logo Lillard’s season as the team went into tank mode. As customary with most of Dame’s offseason, he began focusing on his rap career, and it quite possibly could have just dropped a hint that his mentality on leaving Portland is changing.

Damian Lillard Drops 60 Points in Blazers Win Over Jazz

Damian Lillard had it all going in the Portland Trailblazers’ 134-124 win over the Utah Jazz. Logo Lillard only shot 29 times but dropped 60 points for the game. To make the performance even more impressive, Lillard only shot 10 free throws. Efficiency at its finest.

“That was incredible, man,” Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said to ESPN. “You don’t get to see that very often, to be that efficient. For a guy to score 60 points and only 10 free throws and make nine of them, you’re thinking either this dude has an absurd amount of 3s. It was just incredible how efficient he was.”

Included in his 60-point effort were 72% shooting and nine 3-pointers.

“It’s the most efficient 60-point game ever, for real?” Lillard said. “That’s crazy. I didn’t know that. I’m just sitting here thinking I had a shot at the end of the shot clock from half court toward the end that I shot. It probably would have been a little bit better. I missed a free throw. Damn.”

Damian Lillard Passes Clyde Drexler to Become Trailblazers All-Time Leading Scorer

Damian Lillard is Mr. Trailblazer. The superstar point guard and NBA 75 member has become the all-time leading scorer in the history of the franchise.

Lillard passed up the NBA legend during a Monday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to ESPN, Drexler had 18,040 points in 867 games for the team between 1983-95. Lillard needed just 21 points to pass Drexler.

“It’s a great feeling to reach the top,” Lillard said. “It’s been a goal of mine, and the list has so many players, great history of our organization, so to finally be No. 1 is a special accomplishment that I’m proud of.”

Lillard had 28 points for the night but lost to the Thunder 123-121.
