What Is Miley Cyrus’ Best-Selling Album?

Oftentimes, when artists reinvent themselves, there’s a slow buildup. Miley Cyrus followed a similar route but, in a shocking turn of events, became a fully-fledged controversy stirrer in 2013. After adopting a more mature image by her third album, Can’t Be Tamed, it was her fourth album, Bangerz, that shattered any ties to her teen-pop roots. With multiple albums under her belt, Miley Cyrus is one of the most recognizable musicians of her generation, but none of her projects have matched the commercial success of Bangerz

The lead-up to Cyrus’ fourth album was a defining moment in pop culture. After some time off to focus on acting, she quickly returned to music and signed with RCA Records. While her previous albums were predominantly pop, Miley Cyrus began to lean into R&B territory. It was this genre merger that resulted in Bangerz. Following two polarizing music videos and a raunchy MTV Video Music Awards performance, interest in the album was at an all-time high. It’s no wonder why Bangerz is the best-selling album in her repertoire.

Bangerz: A Miley Cyrus Event

Miley Cyrus was no stranger to releasing successful albums by the time Bangerz was released. Whether through her teen pop persona, Hannah Montana, or as herself, she was already a commercial titan. However, Bangerz ushered in an even greater success for her. The album achieved first-week sales of 270,000 copies, which was an impressive feat.

Since then, the album has sold over three million units in the U.S. This has led to a 3x Platinum certification by the RIAA. However, it’s important to note that this certification happened as far back as June 2018. Furthermore, the album was a moderate success in the U.K., where it’s been certified Gold for unit sales of over 100,000. Likewise, it’s most likely that the album has achieved higher sales, as its last certification date was in December 2013. This means that, in just two and a half months of its release in the UK, Bangerz sold over 100,000 copies.

Bangerz also performed very well in Norway, selling 80,000 copies and achieving a 4x Platinum. It has earned 2x and 3x Platinum certifications in Canada and Brazil, for sales of over 160,000 and 120,000 units, respectively. Moreover, in Australia, Denmark, Poland, and Sweden, Bangerz accumulated Platinum certifications. The respective units sold in these countries are: 70,000, 20,000, 20,000, and 40,000. In summary, of all her albums, this one awarded Miley Cyrus the most certifications around the globe.

A Controversial Pivot

While Miley Cyrus had already begun to adopt a sexier, more mature image, Bangerz took things even further, becoming one of the most discussed albums of 2013. With the release of the LP’s lead single, “We Can’t Stop,” the former teen idol effectively shed her former skin. Particularly, the track’s music video depicted a highly provocative side to Cyrus. The video took place at a house party, where Cyrus twerked with friends and behaved rather suggestively. Unsurprisingly, the polarizing video has almost raked up a billion views on YouTube.

At the 2013 VMAs, Miley Cyrus became one of the most searched names on Google. Her raunchy and suggestive dancing and behavior, which included twerking on Robin Thicke, became media gold. Furthermore, following the release of the music video for “Wrecking Ball,” which depicted a naked Miley Cyrus, her good-girl image was completely gone. In essence, a newer, more adult pop star had replaced the former teen sensation.

Overall, Bangerz was a pop-R&B hybrid that successfully reinvented Cyrus’ artistry. The album was primarily produced by Mike Will Made It and debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart. The music was also met with positive reviews, who praised the singer’s more evolved sound. However, the controversies around Bangerz made it one of the most memorable albums of the 2010s and the best-selling album in Miley Cyrus’s career.

Mental Health Advice from Hip-hop Celebs

Mental Health Advice from Hip hop Celebs

Being a celebrity definitely has its perks, but it also has its downsides too. From grueling tour schedules to online cyber bullying, celebrities are not immune to mental health struggles. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Day in October, we have compiled some of the best advice for promoting positive mental health from some of the industry’s biggest names.

Beyoncé: Took a break and came back better than ever

Beyoncé has been working full-time since she was a teenager, so it’s no surprise that she became so overwhelmed with a grueling schedule that she needed a little break. In an interview, she recalls how in January 2010, “it was beginning to get fuzzy — I couldn’t even tell which day or which city I was at. I would sit there at ceremonies and they would give me an award and I was just thinking about the next performance.” She stated that her mother was very persistent in telling her that she had to take care of her mental health. She took a year off of making music and spent the time traveling and relaxing and came back fresh and renewed a year later to make a series of chart-topping albums. While taking an entire year off of work probably isn’t an option for most people, taking a break is one of the best things a person can do for their mental health.

Joyner Lucas: Used music as his creative outlet to manage struggles with an ADHD diagnosis

Joyner Lucas has long been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness and has also used his ADHD diagnosis as what he describes as “a reverse uno card.” In an interview with Billboard, he stated that he embraced his own attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder as a tool to unlock creativity, so much so he named his 2020 debut album after it. To date, the album has sold over half a million copies and is RIAA-certified gold. The artist has publicly acknowledged that while ADHD has presented him and others with certain challenges, a mental health condition does not need to limit one’s opportunities in life.

Miley Cyrus: Speaks out about removing the stigma of receiving professional help

Miley Cyrus has also been an advocate from mental health and emphasizes the importance of therapy, stating that “every person can benefit from talking to somebody.” The “Flowers” singer also publicly acknowledged that she has taken medicine to treat her depression and wants other people to know that there is no shame in receiving professional medical help for their mental health.

Nicki Minaj: Ensures fans they are not alone

Many people who are struggling with mental health often feel isolated and alone, which only furthers their pain in many cases. Nicki Minaj uses her platform to let others suffering from mental health issues know that they are not alone. Minaj, who has spoken out in the past about how she was so low at one point in her life that she contemplated suicide, took time to mention the importance of mental health at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards while accepting the Video Vanguard award. She stated: “I wish that people understood what they meant and what they were going through. I wish people took mental health seriously, even for the people who you think have perfect lives.” To many, it probably does seem like Minaj has the perfect life. However, she makes a good point that what is shown to the public and on social media is often not a reflection of people’s realities- something everyone can keep in mind before scrolling Instagram and comparing their lives to others.

Big Sean: Keeps it real

Big Sean has often spoken publicly about his own long-held depression and anxiety publicly, explaining that he wanted to “keep it real” because he “was tired of not keeping it real,” he said in an interview in 2021. “I was tired of pretending I was a machine and everything was cool and being politically correct or whatever. I just was like, I’m a just say how I feel.” He hopes that his advice will transcend to fans and their own lives, stating that “whatever they can apply to their life and better themselves and maybe it just even starts a whole journey in a different direction as far as upgrading and taking care of themselves and bossing up themselves.” In a separate interview, he stated how I’m the past he rarely took time to take care of himself and noted that nurturing himself is now a high priority for him- as it should be for everyone.

Doja Cat: Owned her ADHD diagnosis

Like Joyner Lucas, Doja Cat has also talked about how she struggles with ADHD and in an interview, stating that she felt like she “was stuck in one spot and everybody else was progressing constantly.” The “Paint the Town Red” singer learned to channel her creativity into her music and now has progressed to one of the top-selling female artists of her generation. Her advice reminds people that no one progresses in the exact same way and it’s important to not compare your own journey to the journey of others.

Michelle Williams: Stresses the importance of faith, family and friends

Michelle Williams took time from songwriting to write her own memoir about her struggles, “Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life — and Can Save Yours.” In the book, she opens up about her years-long struggle with depression and details how she had suicidal thoughts. She concludes with the importance of prioritizing one’s mental health as well as describes the important role that faith, family and friends play in each other’s mental health journeys.

Jennifer Lopez: Emphasizes self-care, health, and rest

After experiencing an stress-induced panic attack in her late 20s brought on by too much work and not enough sleep, Jennifer Lopez describes how she learn to prioritize her mental health and self-care. She has also stated the importance of exercising, eating healthy, and getting adequate rest, which is great advice if whether you’re performing at the Super Bowl halftime show or working a desk job.

Billie Eilish: Removing stigma and embracing your own uniqueness

Billie Eilish has been under public scrutiny before she was even old enough to drive. In an interview with Vogue, she describes how she struggles with Tourette’s syndrome as well as how she has experienced body dysmorphia in the past, stating how she used to compare herself to models and felt that she was never skinny or pretty enough. Despite her struggles, Eilish broke into the industry and skyrocketed to the top with her own unique sound and look- both of which are constantly evolving. She hopes that Gen Z will be more open to talking about mental health and removing the stigma associated with it. She’s also a living example of how a person’s uniqueness can be the best thing about them.

Kendrick Lamar: Learning to accept change and live with grief

Kendrick Lamar has often spoken openly in the past about his struggles with mental health, survivor’s guilt, and grief. The artist, who is well-known for mastering the art of lyric-writing, has used his talent to discuss his mental health struggles with lyrics such as “money can’t stop a suicidal weakness” and “depression is restin’ on your heart,” amongst others. He states that going through change can be exceptionally difficult for anyone and that “accepting change — that’s the hardest thing for man, accepting change.” Studies show that men are far less likely to seek out treatment for their mental health than women, so hopefully male artists like Lamar can show other men that there is no shame in struggling with mental health.

Kid Cudi: Got clean from drugs, focused on mental health

Kid Cudi has shared how he battled with depression and even had suicidal thoughts. In 2016, he shared that he abused drugs as a way of coping with his depression. In 2016, he checked himself into a treatment center for depression and “suicidal urges.” Kid Cudi is a prime example of showing the importance of how getting professional treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues can have a tremendous impact on a person’s life. Following his rehab stay, he came back to continue to make even more chart-topping music.

Miley Cyrus Once Tricked Her Grandma Into Baking Edibles With Snoop Dogg For The VMAs, She Explained

Miley Cyrus has been confessing lots in her TikTok series in support of her “Used To Be Young” single. From having to pay for her Bangerz tour by herself to her house burning down when she was overseas filming Black Mirror, the pop star has stories.

In a new clip, the “Flowers” singer talked about her skit for the 2015 VMAs that involved her grandmother baking edibles with Snoop Dogg. “I knew I really wanted a couple things in the show,” she said. “I wanted the Flaming Lips, I wanted drag queens, I wanted my grandma, and I wanted my pig in the show. So Snoop Dogg was the perfect kinda like connection.”

She continued, “It’s my grandma doing what grandmas do — baking cookies — but what she doesn’t know is that they were actual edibles. RIP, she’ll never know.”

Her mother Trish added, “Oh, except on the ride there, cause I’m bringing Mom to the set and they give her her apron, [she asked] ‘Why does this say — my name’s not Mary Jane!’ I was like, ‘I don’t know, Mom.’”

Miley Cyrus Net Worth 2023: What Is The Pop Icon Worth?

Miley Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, inherited creativity from her family of performers. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, instilled in her a love for music, while her mother nurtured her acting flair. Young Miley started with small roles but dreamed big. Her audition for Disney’s Hannah Montana at the age of 11 proved to be the turning point, leading to a net worth of $170 million in 2023, according to CAknowledge.

The role of Miley Stewart in Hannah Montana catapulted Cyrus into stardom. The show’s success translated into chart-topping albums like Meet Miley Cyrus and Breakout. Cyrus didn’t stop at Disney’s doorstep; she ventured into a more mature musical landscape with hits like “Wrecking Ball.” From child star to pop sensation to rock revivalist, Cyrus’s artistic journey is nothing short of remarkable.

An advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and an openly pansexual individual, Cyrus has become a symbol for self-discovery and acceptance. She’s as multifaceted off the stage as on it, continuously evolving and challenging societal norms.

While Cyrus’s music and acting careers are well-known, her business acumen and philanthropic efforts resonate just as loudly. Her investments in vegan fashion brands and collaboration with major labels speak volumes about her business intelligence. Beyond commerce, she actively supports various causes, including her charity, the Happy Hippie Foundation, aimed at fighting injustices faced by homeless youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and other vulnerable populations.

Super Bowl Halftime Show Shortlist Rumored To Include Jack Harlow & Miley Cyrus

With just a couple of months yet, it seems like both the industry and the fans are gearing up for Super Bowl LVIII in 2024. Moreover, new reports from HITS Daily Double suggest rumors for its halftime show’s shortlist of performers, and they might surprise you. Included in this speculation are the following artists as of writing this article: Jack Harlow, Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, and Harry Styles. Interestingly enough, buzz around this performance lines up with the recent announcement of Harlow’s new tour. Of course, despite this connection, fans had a lot to say about these potential picks.

To start off with the Kentucky MC, fans online got him trending amid discussions that it would be a poor move in many’s eyes. Furthermore, detractors’ main reasoning is that he doesn’t have enough massive mainstream hits to carry a whole Super Bowl performance. Instead, many seemed to favor Miley Cyrus in comparison, as she has a lot of different hits across her many different eras. While these discussions can turn negative quick, it’s worth noting that these are all huge artists, and picking at straws leads to some important judgement calls.

The Next Super Bowl’s Halftime Show Performer Is Reportedly Getting Picked

On that note of big hits, Bad Bunny certainly has them in spades, as the Puerto Rican superstar already fills out three-hour performances of his best songs. However, some questioned how this would translate for a U.S. audience, while others reveled in the idea of boomers getting mad at the Latino artist gracing the country’s biggest stage (which he was already on). Finally, Harry Styles is another industry titan with a lot of beloved songs to share. Maybe it sounds like the safe pick, but consider that there are always special guests at the Super Bowl to make the show that much more monumental.

Meanwhile, this news follows other rumored reports that the higher-ups removed Lizzo from this shortlist due to recent accusations of harassment and toxic workplace environments against her. If anything, the proximity of these reports suggests that they’re really narrowing things down. We will have to wait and see if it results in an official announcement anytime soon. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on these artists and the next Super Bowl halftime show.

Did Miley Cyrus Just Release A Secret Album?

Did Miley Cyrus just release a secret album under a pseudonym? If she did, it could add another achievement to her growing list of accolades. Currently, Cyrus is the only female artist to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 under three different pseudonyms. These include Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana (her titular character from the Disney show), and Ashley O (her character on Black Mirror). Miley currently has a total of 68 songs that have charted and 11 songs that have been in the top 10. If this new album turns out to be Cyrus and lands on the charts, she would become the first female artist to chart under four different names. But who is this new persona?

A TikTok user has claimed that the singer has returned to her Hannah Montana era. By this, she means it appears that Miley may have a new secret musical identity. According to the user, the singer secretly released an album under the name Clara Pierce, titled Down With Me. Miley’s most recent album, Endless Summer Vacation, is only a month old. If anything, that means it is extremely unlikely that this was uploaded in any official capacity. Still, fans have been speculating that Miley left hints for them to find the secret album.

Is “Clara Pierce” Just Miley In Disguise?

♬ Hands of Time – Clara Pierce

Many of Miley’s fans seem to think the song titles on Clara Pierce’s album were hints from the singer. Several tracks from the album, including “Sagittarius” and “See You Again,” seem to make subtle references to Miley’s personal life. The former references the singer’s astrological sign, and the latter is a song title from an older album. However, other viewers have a different interpretation and have expressed their thoughts in the comments section of the fans TikTok video.

“Someone made an account with a random name and photo that had access to her unreleased demos and illegally uploaded them,” on commenter alleged. This would not have been difficult to do as Spotify does allow anyone to upload music. The release from Clara Pierce has since been taken down, which does lend some weight to the theory that the songs were simply demos uploaded illegally. What do you think of the new pseudonym? Is it Miley herself or simply a fan with access to unreleased music? Let us know in the comments!

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Is No. 1 For Another Week While Coi Leray Earns Her First Top-10 Song On The Hot 100 Chart

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” is a hit and it’s not slowing down: It came out about two-and-a-half months ago and it’s still the top song in the country. On the new Billboard Hot 100 chart dated April 1, “Flowers” is once again No. 1 for an eighth total week. The Endless Summer Vacation favorite was Cyrus’ first song to debut at No. 1 and is her second chart-topping single after “Wrecking Ball.”

She’s not the only one making noise on this week’s Hot 100, though, as two artists have made their debut in the top-10 on the new chart: Coi Leray’s “Players” has risen to No. 9 while TikTok-boosted country star Bailey Zimmerman’s “Rock And A Hard Place” is No. 10.

Previously, Leray had two songs reach the top 40 of the Hot 100: 2019’s “No More Parties” featuring Lil Durk peaked at No. 26 while last year’s Nicki Minaj collaboration “Blick Blick” topped out at No. 37. “Players” samples the Grandmaster Flash classic “The Message” and has become a hit on TikTok. She also recently released a Busta Rhymes-featuring remix of the song.

Zimmerman, meanwhile, is readying his debut album, Religiously. The Album., which is set for release on May 12 via Warner Music Nashville. “Fall In Love,” his debut single that immediately preceded “Rock And A Hard Place,” managed a Hot 100 peak at No. 29.
