Megan Thee Stallion’s Powerful Statement For Tory Lanez’s Sentencing Has Surfaced: ‘He Made A Mockery Of My Trauma’

Shortly before Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, it was reported that a statement from Megan was read in court. The statement was described in various reports, but now, the full letter has surfaced.

Meghann Cuniff, a legal affairs journalist who closely covered the trial and sentencing, shared the full statement yesterday (August 17). It starts with Meg noting she “struggled” with being present in the courtroom, but ultimately decided, “I simply can’t bring myself to be back in the same room with Tory once again.”

Megan also wrote about how Lanez has treated her, saying, “I want you to know that since I was viciously shot by the defendant a little over three years ago, I have not experienced a single day of peace. I have been tormented and terrorized in every degree by the defendant. He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.”

The letter concludes, “Today I beg this court to send a message to every victim of violence and fully hold the defendant accountable for his criminal conduct. This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence. His crime warrants the full weight of the law.”

Read the full statement below.

“Dear Honorable Judge Herriford,

I struggled with being present today. I don’t want my absence to be interpreted as anything other than the preservation of my mental well-being. after everything that occurred, I simply can’t bring myself to be back in the same room with Tory once again.

I want you to know that since I was viciously shot by the defendant a little over three years ago, I have not experienced a single day of peace.

I have been tormented and terrorized in every degree by the defendant.

He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.

He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media.

He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade.

He treated my trauma like a joke when I could have died that day.

Mercy can only be granted to those who accept responsibility for their actions. But not once has the defendant taken accountability.

At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system. Blamed the press. And as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability.

For once, the defendant must be forced to face the full consequences of his heinous actions and face justice.

If the defendant would have spent a quarter of the past few years showing contrition for his crimes, perhaps I could have healed sooner. Instead, I spiraled into a dark and angry place where I thought my life was worthless and I felt loneliness and shame. Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back. But I will never be the same.

However, every day I think of the others across the world who are victims of violence and have survived. It is truly the most powerless feeling, especially when you question whether the justice system can truly protect you.

Fortunately, the District Attorney’s Office fought for me. I’m incredibly grateful to them and the jury for their attention to the evidence and siding with the truth. But if it can happen to me, imagine those who lack the resources and support system to help them.

Today I beg this court to send a message to every victim of violence and fully hold the defendant accountable for his criminal conduct.

This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence. His crime warrants the full weight of the law.

Thank you, Your Honor.”

Tory Lanez‘s time behind bars for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion will be closer to nine years instead of the previously sentenced 10. Lanez will get credit for the time served.

“Lanez will be credited for 231 days he’s already spent in jail,” court reporter Meghann Cuniff wrote on Twitter. “He gets 15% credit of 34 days. Herriford also is crediting his 40 days of house arrest, for a total of 305 days. He’ll request bail pending appeal, which will be heard Aug. 15.”

Cuniff also noted that the possibility of bail is extremely unlikely.

Tory Lanez will be behind bars for a while, serving time for his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez’s lawyer, Jose Baez, spoke with TMZ and stated the rapper is “feeling pretty low” and is processing the sentence. He added that the Chixtape rapper would deal with the sentence as best as he could.

Baez also noted that Tory would lean on his faith in God and his fans and family’s support system. Baez also states that they are still fighting for an appeal.

Tory Lanez’s time is to be spent in a California state prison.

The verdict was delivered after a 10-minute argument by Alex Bott on behalf of prosecutors and 20 minutes of defense from Jose Baez. Judge Herriford issued the ruling.

During the hearing, Tory Lanez spoke for several minutes, according to reporter Meghann Cuniff, where he said Megan is “someone I still care for dearly to this day” and said, “the victim’s my friend.”

He also would speak about the mutual loss of their mothers. “We both lost our mothers. We would sit there and drink, and drink until we got numb,” Tory Lanez said.

Megan Thee Stallion Addressed Her Haters With A Frank Message On Stage After Tory Lanez Was Sentenced To Prison

At long last, it finally happened: Last week, Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. (It looks like he’ll end up actually serving closer to nine years, though.) Throughout the process, Meg has had some haters come at her, and now she has a few words for them.

While performing at the Outside Lands festival this weekend, she addressed her audience, saying, “I just want to say: f*ck all my haters. None of that sh*t you was doing or saying broke me. None of that sh*t y’all been doing and saying to the hotties broke them.”

On 2022’s “Circo Loco,” Drake had a line that many interpreted to be about Megan: “This b*tch lie ’bout gettin’ shots, but she still a stallion.” However, Lil Yachty later claimed the lyric isn’t about Meg at all, but about women lying about getting surgery. Also last year, Joe Budden apologized after joking about Megan’s mental health, saying, “I’m apologizing for the careless manner in which I joked about her mental health. That didn’t sit right with my soul and my spirit. Because whether you believe her or don’t believe her, can you afford to be wrong? And the answer is no.”

Bun B Says Tory Lanez Shooting Megan Thee Stallion Was 'Some Whore Sh*t'

Tory Lanez’s sentence continues to cause reactions across Hip-Hop. The latest comes from Houston legend Bun B who thinks the sentence is a “wake-up call for violence against women.”

“I don’t think this has anything to do with Hip Hop,” Bun said to TMZ. “If there were nobody in Hip Hop involved in this, this would still not be a good thing for us to see in this world right now.”

He added, “Keep your head up. Obviously, Tory might not be the biggest fan of mine, but I don’t wish prison on anybody and I hope he comes home safe.”

Lanez may not be a fan of Bun B due to him previously stating his actions toward Megan Thee Stallion was “some whore shit.”
