Tory Lanez Released From House Arrest Before the Start of Megan Thee Stallion Trial

Back in November, Tory Lanez was ordered to be placed on house arrest by a Los Angeles court before he goes to trial for allegedly shooting rapstress Megan Thee Stallion. Still, according to a recent report from Rolling Stone, Lanez had his ankle monitor removed pending the trial.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was reportedly released from house arrest as jury selection in the Megan trial is set to begin. Opening statements in the trial are slated to start on Dec. 12.

Judge David Herriford spoke on the prosecution’s objection to releasing Lanex, saying, “I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect.”

Ahead of her Future Nostalgia tour, Dua Lipa linked up with Megan The Stallion to record their sugary collaboration, “Sweetest Pie.” In a profile on Lipa for Vogue, Megan, who is opening for Lipa on select dates of the Future Nostalgia tour, recalled working with the “Levitating” singer on their collaboration.

During their sessions, Megan said she and Lipa formed a friendship that felt natural.

“When somebody is so gorgeous and established, you don’t know what to expect,” Megan said. “A lot of ladies can be divas. But Dua is just so nice. She felt like a familiar spirit. We have an unspoken bond, it’s not even anything we need to discuss. Sometimes people get the wrong idea about me, too. But once you meet me, you’re like, Oh! This is my homegirl.”

Also in the profile, “Sweetest Pie’s” co-writer Clarence Coffee, who also co-wrote “Levitating,” took time to speak on Lipa’s craft.

Mayor Sylvester Turner presented the 27-year-old Houston rapper with the key to the city, a belt buckle, and a cowgirl hat in a ceremony held on Sunday, May 1st recognizing the Grammy winner’s contribution to the community. In March last year, Megan launched the ‘Hotties Helping Houston’ fundraiser to help senior citizens and single mothers who had their houses destroyed in the Texas freeze, offering monetary support for two years.
