Derek Fisher and Matt Barnes had a very infamous feud a few years ago. After Fisher started dating Gloria Govan, Barnes drove a while to go see Fisher. However, the two have ultimately downplayed the situation over the years. Regardless, this is one of those storylines that fans always love to bring up on occasion. After all, there is some heavy drama within it, and people live for the drama. Well, it should be noted that this beef has been squashed and that is that.
In fact, some fans would be surprised to know that Derek Fisher is currently coaching Barnes’ sons. The video down below, which was shared by The Neighborhood Talk, showcases Fisher on the sidelines while Barnes is in the stands. The two don’t really interact although that makes a lot of sense. Either way, Barnes’ twin sons are on the floor, and they seem to be having fun out there. Needless to say, this is a cool example of a bad beef being squashed.
As one fan explained in the comments section to post above, Barnes has admitted to how his twin sons like Fisher a lot. Consequently, they wanted their dad to squash the beef. It makes a lot of sense and it goes to show that Barnes knows what is best for his kids. At the end of the day, harboring grudges is never going to do you any good. Based on this news, it is abundantly clear that both of these men are aware of that. Hopefully, they can continue to be on good terms as Fisher resumes his coaching duties.
Let us know what you think of this turnaround in Fisher and Barnes’ relationship, in the comments section below. Matt Barnes has said that the version of his 2015 altercation that is referenced in Kanye’s seminal “30 Hours” is actually nothing more than an “urban legend”. Per the story relayed by Kanye, Barnes drove 95 miles to confront Derek Fisher after learning that Fisher was at Barnes’ ex-wife’s house. “That was the urban legend because Kanye rapped about it. I really only drove 15 minutes. Quick trip. I was back in the house firing one up in like 45 minutes. Quick roundtrip,” Barnes told a crossover episode of All The Smoke and The Pivot.
The story was inspired by the line “I’m about to drive 90/ 90 miles like Matt Barnes just to whoop a n-gga ass.” While the trip from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles is about 115 miles, it can usually be done in about two hours. Furthermore, based on Barnes’ explanation, it sounds like he was much closer than that to begin with. A physical altercation would ensue between Barnes and Fisher but no charges were ultimately filed against either man. “I can’t believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to 2Pac to go beat somebody up. No, I live 15 minutes away and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable. That was my main reason for going over there,” Barnes added.
However, Matt Barnes is not the only one calling cap on Kanye. Drake took a shot at Ye on the track “Red Button”, which forms part of Drizzy’s surprise Scary Hours 3 EP. “Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated. Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin.’ Realize that everything premeditated. Everyone was good with me, then everyone expression faded. Tickin’ time bomb and they beggin’ me to detonate it If I press this red button. Dog, everybody Heaven Gated. Press this red button, dog, and everything forever changes,” Drake raps on the track.
Meanwhile, Kanye, who is reportedly working on an album with Ty Dolla Sign, has been dropping some slightly more controversial bars. An alleged snippet of a new song appears to see Ye make reference to his history of anti-semitism. “They say I’m anti-Semitic. But I just f-cked a Jewish b-tch. I just f-cked a Jewish b-tch,” Ye can be heard rapping in the leaked bar. It’s unclear what the context of the line is within the larger song. However, it’s just more proof that Ye is intent only doubling down on his controversial behavior.
Lil Wayne has four children. His eldest is musician and reality star Reginae Carter. She recently landed her own show alongside her mother Toya Johnson. His second child, Dwayne III, was born to radio personality Sarah Vinn. Then there was Kameron, a son born in 2009 to Wayne’s long-time on-off partner Lauren London. Finally, there is Neal, who was born two months after Kameron in 2009. Musician Trina was also at one time pregnant with Wayne’s child, but lost the pregnancy due to a miscarriage.
By all accounts, Wayne is a devoted and dedicated father. Despite any beef or legal issues Wayne has run into over the years, his reputation as a father has never been tarnished. This has been reiterated by Reginae and seen through this co-parenting of Kameron with London. And this claim was on full display during a recent podcast appearance that the rapper made.
While appearing on Matt Barnes’ podcast, Wayne abruptly stopped the show. “That’s Kam, he going to sleep,” Wayne said pulling out his phone. “He gotta get his goodnight.” A moment later, Wayne facetimes his son, “Goodnight, boy. I love you,” Wayne says. “Gimme some,” he adds, wiggling his fingers in front of his phone camera. “Is Boss Man asleep?” he asks, referring to Kross, Lauren London’s son with Nipsey Hussle. When Kam says he is, Wayne looks over his shoulder at the large mural of Nipsey. “They got a picture of his dad here. He looks just like him…I’ll take a picture of it and send it him.”
It’s an adorable and heartwarming moment. Furthermore, it shows the love that Wayne also has for Kross, despite the child not being his. Wayne has long been praised for his maturity and attitude when it comes to parenting. This video is perfect proof of that. Get all the latest music news and viral videos here on HotNewHipHop.
Matt Barnes is one of the more interesting figures in the NBA world. Overall, you probably know him from his exploits as one of the grittier guys in the league. He also tried to make Kobe Bryant flinch that one time, although it didn’t work. These days, Barnes can be seen on the All The Smoke podcast where he sits alongside Stephen Jackson. Additionally, he has provided commentary for the likes of ESPN. He is someone who NBA fans like listening to, especially since he keeps things honest.
Recently, however, Matt Barnes came out and made an interesting revelation about himself. Barnes was a guest on “Miss Understood with Rachel Uchitel” where he divulged his interest in the political world. In fact, the former NBA star would very much like to run for some sort of public office. This is a goal he had set years ago, and he wants to make this happen by the age of 50. At 43 years old, he has about seven years to make this happen.
“I gave myself a goal back in my 30s that by the time I turn 50, I wanted to run for some sort of office,” Barnes said. “Whether that be mayor or governor or whatever it may be. It would be refreshing. It’s not something people expect, but I know I can make a difference. I still got seven years before that time is up.” Barnes went on to note that he is a big believer in trying to do good in the world. This is especially true when you have a platform in which people pay attention to what you say “I try to use my platform to speak up for those who don’t have a platform or don’t have a voice,” Barnes said.
It would certainly be interesting to see Barnes in this kind of position. Moreover, he would get some pretty amazing endorsements from his NBA friends. However, any sort of political campaign takes a lot of time and money. It remains to be seen if Barnes will truly want to go through with that grind. Let us know what you think of Barnes’ comments, down below.
As a former NBA star, Matt Barnes knows all too well the repercussions that arise from destructive behaviors. Whether those infractions occur on the court, on reality television, or surface online, it’s difficult for sports players to recover from the backlash. The beginning of 2023 shaped up to be a rough season for Ja Morant, but the young baller is determined to turn things around. Several basketball veterans have stepped forward with advice, and Barnes adds his name to the list of those with words of wisdom.
TMZ ran into the former Los Angeles Lakers star while he was out and about and asked him if he believed Morant could bounce back. “I hope so,” he said. “One of my favorite players in the league. I love Ja and what he brings to the table. You know, got a little ahead of himself with some stuff, and that happens when you’re young with the world in the palm of your hand. I just want to send him love, let him know we love him. We miss him. And we need him back.” The All the Smoke podcast host also dished out advice for other NBA players who may want to enjoy themselves a bit too much off-court. “Don’t tell on yourself, man.”
Matt Barnes Issues a Warning
“Watch out for cameras,” Barnes added. “It was a different—we were just talkin’ about in the interview. Everything is—the second you step out of your house, you’re being recorded these days. Stay cognizant and aware of your surroundings.” It’s advice Morant could have used before his unraveling of scandals unfolded. He was accused of brandishing a firearm during an altercation with a 17-year-old during a pick-up game. Later, the Memphis Grizzlies star flashed a gun while on Instagram Live. As if that wasn’t enough, amid the controversy, images of Morant receiving a lapdance, surrounded by cash, were leaked to social media.
In a recent interview with Jalen Rose for ESPN’s NBA Countdown, Morant seemed determined to prove naysayers wrong. “The gun wasn’t mine,” he told Rose. “It’s not who I am. I don’t condone any type of violence, but I’ve taken responsibility for my actions. But in the future, I’m going to show everybody who Ja really is, what I’m about, and change this narrative that everybody got.” Check out more from Matt Barnes above, including his take on the Sacramento Kings.
Matt Barnes is being sued by his fiance’s ex-husband David Patterson after the former NBA player spat on a man during a scuffle at a San Francisco 49ers playoff game.
In a suit obtained by The Blast, Barnes is being sued for battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The documents read Patterson believes he was “wrongfully, maliciously, and violently assaulted, battered, threatened and injured” by Barnes at the Jan. 22 game. Patterson now cites he “suffered and continues to suffer from injury, emotional distress, pain and suffering, embarrassment, and humiliation.”
Patterson would supply the courts with a run of texts between Matt Barnes and Melisa Andino, with one asking: “Melisa are your lips good for anything other than sucking d***? Control your man he’s losing it.” Additional messages show Barnes attempting to establish a confrontation.
Patterson is seeking unspecified damages in the case, leaving it up to the court to settle on a number.
In footage obtained by TMZ, Matt Barnes can be seen spitting on Patterson. After Barnes spat, he and Patterson engaged in a scuffle.
Barnes claimed the victim in the situation, citing Patterson escalated the situation. He would also file a temporary restraining order on Patterson two days after the incident.
“[Patterson] shoved me, and I was forced to push him off of me,” Barnes said. “I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and out of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust.”
Last week model Anansa Sims’ ex husband, David Patterson Jr., filed a lawsuit against her fiancé, retired NBA player Matt Barnes. The lawsuit came after a spitting incident at a football game where video captured shows
Anansa wrote:
I’m exhaling, because I hate making private matters public, but in this case our personal family matters are already public. Co-parenting can be challenging and I’m sure those of you who are on the journey to getting to a healthy place for our children can understand and relate. This is not one incident, this is a series of several incidents. It’s been heartbreaking for me to sit back silently and watch the way this has played out knowing the truth and history behind the altercation. I hate that after years of my Ex Husband harassing Matt and I, that he finally provoked Matt into reacting. I know this is a lot to read, but if you take the time to read each of the 10 slides you’ll have a better understanding of what we’ve been going through. In a written note on the post she continued:
“Matt doesn’t deserve this negative backlash. My Ex Husband David Patterson has been harassing Matt and I for years. The harassment from David escalated after our Christmas engagement.”
“In the month of January alone my Ex has called the police to our home 5 times on false claims of us having a scheduled visit. Each time I’ve shown the different officers our Talking Parent messages confirming that we in fact did not have a visit scheduled. This has been extremely traumatizing for our children and neighbors.
In August my Ex Husband while hysterically crying told our 3 children 8, 9 and 11 that he was never going to see them again. He later that same day text my Mother, Matt and I and said that he was giving up his 50/50 visitation rights.
In fear I rushed over to pick up our kids who he said he would have on his porch waiting. In August David said since we couldn’t agree on our 8 and 9 year olds football team he didn’t want to babysit our children and that Matt and I could have them full time.”
Sims continued, “This is all documented with the court. A week later in August he threatened to come up to their football practice with his Glock handgun to confront me and the head coach of our sons team. I filed for a restraining order the next day.
In November 2022 I was granted a 3 year restraining order against my Ex which the Judge included our children for their safety. David was placed on supervised visits due to the nature of the restraining order. My Ex Husband threatened to run me over with his car and gladly watch all the blood leak out of my body. He said this to me in front of our children at their baseball tryout.”
Sims added, “He also threatened to kill Matt with his Glock multiple times in front of our children. Thankfully I was able to record him saying these threats on video, which in addition to his other disturbing behavior aided in the Judge granting me with the restraining order on him.
In addition to threatening to kill Matt and I on numerous occasions, David also made heinous false detrimental accusations to authorities against Matt’s twin sons. When my Ex Husband came after the twins I was furious and I knew he would not stop.
Sims added, “This is the 2nd restraining order I’ve had to get on my Ex Husband. In 2017 the judge granted me with a 3 year restraining order due to domestic violence and David threatening to kill me and himself multiple times.
David has said in text message recently that he was going to end Matt’s podcast and ESPN career, so when I learned about the altercation at Levi stadium I knew David was trying to bait Matt into hitting him.
My Ex Husband had just sent police officers to our home davs before that game on false scheduled visit claims. It’s public knowledge that Matt is a huge 49ers fan and David knew Matt would be at the game. Giving David an opportunity to approach Matt. David started the altercation, which resulted in Matt’s response.
Unfortunately, the cameras only captured Matt’s reaction, not the whole incident.”
Anansa Sims and Matt Barnes have been going through a lot over the past week. As we previously reported, Barnes got into an altercation with Sims’ ex-husband, David Patterson Jr. This all happened at the 49ers game against the Dallas Cowboys. Overall, it was a heated incident that led to Barnes spitting on Patterson.
In an Instagram post over the weekend, Sims spoke about the recent altercation. As you can imagine, this has been stressful for her, and her children. In the post, she explains the extent of Patterson’s alleged harassment. Overall, she just wants him to stop. Barnes and Sims simply want to be left alone, although Patterson has allegedly made that next to impossible.
“I’m exhaling, because I hate making private matters public, but in this case our personal family matters are already public,” Sims wrote. “Co-parenting can be challenging and I’m sure those of you who are on the journey to getting to a healthy place for our children can understand and relate. This is not one incident, this is a series of several incidents.
“It’s been heartbreaking for me to sit back silently and watch the way this has played out knowing the truth and history behind the altercation. Matt Barnes Hit With Lawsuit
According to TMZ, Barnes has been hit with a lawsuit from Patterson. As it stands, the damages being sought are unknown. However, it is known that Patterson is accusing Barnes of being the aggressor. Furthermore, Patterson has filed this lawsuit while levying allegations of “battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress” against Barnes.
Interestingly enough, Barnes has claimed that Patterson was the true aggressor. He even got a temporary restraining order against the man. This is because Patterson was allegedly threatening to shoot Barnes. Overall, this has turned into a “he said-he said” situation.
This is a situation that has ultimately gone public, and Barnes has received scrutiny for it. Of course, he infamously got into a fight with Derek Fisher that was very high profile. Fans believe this is a pattern with Barnes, which has subsequently led to a ton of Twitter discourse.
