Wiz Khalifa Catches Drug Possession Charges In Romania For Alleged Weed-Smoking

It looks like Wiz Khalifa ran into some unexpected trouble overseas, as authorities in Romania reportedly charged him with illegal drug possession. “During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (on stage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” local prosecutors stated on Sunday. The nation’s laws often seek up to ten years for cannabis possession, as they consider the substance a “risk drug,” and while they allegedly charged the future Kush & OJ 2 MC, apparently they didn’t keep him in custody.

If you’re a hip-hop fan in Romania, then this Wiz Khalifa situation continues a sad streak for rappers in the nation as of late. “Out of concern for the well-being of our team and myself, my security detail [advised me] not to travel to Romania’s festival tonight due to safety concerns regarding protests in the area,” Nicki Minaj announced last week amid protests. “I look forward to seeing you all at another time. As a mom, I have to make sure I’m making sound decisions for me to make it home to my son and for my team to make it home to their families. To not heed the advice of security at this time is simply not what I think I should be doing.”

Hopefully Wiz Khalifa is able to handle this situation in Romania swiftly and effectively. This certainly threw a wrench into things, but perhaps it resolves sooner than expected. Fingers crossed!

Boosie wants help getting his record for marijuana offenses expunged from Joe Biden after the president announced the reclassification of the drug from Schedule I to Schedule III under federal law. He made his request to Biden in response to his explanation of the move on Twitter, earlier this week.

“Well, I was [sentenced] to 10 years for third offense marijuana and these charges were grams,” Boosie wrote in his post. “I did jail time for this so since you fixing laws, can you expunge this off my record. Also, I was never even offered rehab straight to prison for third offense marijuana. I was a user. Oh and by the way this is Boosie. Can you please expunge this off my record? Who do I need to call at the White House?”

As a Schedule I drug, marijuana ranked alongside heroin, LSD, quaaludes, ecstasy, and several others. Just moving it to Schedule III won’t be enough to immediately get people out of jail who are already serving for marijuana offenses. DEA Agrees To Finally Reschedule Marijuana Under Federal Law

This is a big deal. Just a couple weeks after 4/20, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has reportedly agreed to reclassify marijuana under federal law, as reported by the Associated Press.

This huge shift in policy is a significant development in the Biden administration’s efforts to overhaul cannabis regulations. Just in time for the election, wink wink. But in all seriousness, the move will shift marijuana from its current Schedule I status to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The latter schedule is a category typically reserved for substances with recognized medical benefits and a lower potential for abuse.

Matthew Schweich, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project, hailed the decision as a positive step in federal cannabis policy reform. Yes, Matthew, most Americans would agree. But get this: he emphasized the need for broader reform efforts at the state level to address the criminalization of medical cannabis patients and users. Echoed to the rafters.

The decision, confirmed by anonymous sources, awaits formal announcement pending approval by the White House Office of Management and Budget. This follows a recommendation from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2023, supported by scientific evidence of marijuana’s medicinal properties. The regulated cannabis industry welcomes the DEA’s decision.
