The Weeknd’s Tour Becomes The Highest-Grossing Tour Of The Decade

The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour continues to make waves overseas, especially now that he’s set a new global record. According to a press release, the Canadian singer’s global tour grossed over $350 million since it launched in 2022, making it the highest-grossing tour of the decade. The North American leg, which included dates in Canada and the U.S., grossed $148 million in sales. However, he brought that to over $350 million in sales following sold-out back-to-back shows in London. Additionally, he set a new record at the stadium, drawing in 160,000 between both nights.

The Weeknd now holds the record for the highest single-night attendance for any show at the stadium with 80,000 fans at the venue. However, he’s yet to wrap up his forthcoming tour. In the midst of the second leg, Live Nation reports that the tour already sold more than 2 million tickets between Europe and the forthcoming South American dates. It’s no small feat for any artist but The Weeknd has undoubtedly set an impressive bar for himself and other artists across the world.

Following his latest feat, it appears that The Weeknd may have beaten Michael Jackson’s record for the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist. Michael Jackson’s Bad tour reportedly held the title with $311 million with inflation, while The Weeknd passed the $350 million mark. It’s an impressive feat but perhaps, one that Beyoncé might beat with the Renaissance World Tour. Some economists have predicted that Bey could pull in billions from the global venture.

Still, it’s clear that the love for The Weeknd hasn’t waned following his controversial television show The Idol, which debuted on HBO earlier this year. The singer’s faced plenty of criticism over the past few weeks from fans, some of which felt as though they couldn’t listen to his music the same way after following the series. If you missed it, the New York native appeared to agree with fans on Twitter accusing Latto of copying Isis Gaston’s signature style. The comments began flying after the former wore a Von Dutch mini skirt and crop top while performing for a huge crowd at Wireless Festival.

It’s hard to deny the similarities between the “Wheelie” hitmaker’s stage ensemble and some of Spice’s recent outfits. Still, Latto’s fanbase came through with receipts suggesting that it’s actually the redhead who’s taking a page out of her contemporary’s book. Regardless of the drama, 21 Sav’s rumoured girlfriend is doing what she can to enjoy her time in Europe for festival season, most recently sharing a photo dump on Instagram of the time she spent exploring London.

The Weeknd Breaks Records With London “After Hours Til Dawn” Performance

The Weeknd recently kicked off the European leg of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour. He performed at London Stadium this past weekend, breaking records with the show. The artist now holds the record for the largest turnout across two nights of any tour, as well as the record for the largest turnout for a single night of any tour.

The Weeknd’s London tour stop saw him perform in a futuristic mirrored mask, with stunning accompanying visuals. He will go on to make 29 more stops, with his next being in Brussels later this week. The “After Hours Til Dawn” tour also features notable dates in Milan, Munich, and Barcelona.

The Weeknd also recently wrapped up the first season of his HBO show, The Idol. He stars in it alongside Lily-Rose Depp, and created the series alongside Sam Levinson. The Idol has been pretty controversial for its depictions of harmful relationships, sexuality, and more. The Weeknd, however, has continuously gone to bat for the project. “Grateful to share this moment with you all as the season comes to an end,” he wrote, “Continue to push the vision no matter how bumpy the journey.”

Recently, it was even reported that The Weeknd’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez sees some similarities between her and the show’s main character, Jocelyn. A source claimed, “The similarities between Selena’s life and Jocelyn’s life are just uncanny.” “Being [that] she actually dated The Weeknd, it is even more creepy for her,” they added, “Her real-life pain was used for entertainment value and that really irks her out. Travis Scott Brings Out Sexyy Red During Wireless Fest Set

Travis Scott is currently a very busy man. Alongside the constant teasing and promotion of Utopia, Scott is currently doing the festival set circuit. He has primarily spent the last few weeks in Europe before he performs at Rolling Loud in Miami later this month. So far, Scott has given a fan the clothes off his back while performing in Dublin. Also in Ireland, Scott performed “Aye”, his track on Lil Uzi Vert’s The Pink Tape for the first time.

However, Scott most recently found himself at Wireless Festival in England. First held in 2005, Wireless is a staple of the British festival circuit. Wireless has been held in several venues across London and England but appears to have settled on Finsbury Park in North London. Beyond Scott, the lineup for the 2023 festival was absolutely stacked. Friday saw Playboi Carti, Ice Spice, Latto, Lil Uzi Vert, Metro Boomin, and Yeat to name a few. Saturday had Lil Yachty, FLO, and Mariah the Scientist. Furthermore, the show will close out on July 9 with 50 Cent, Lil Durk, GloRilla, and Popcaan.

However, Scott didn’t perform his July 8 set entirely alone. At one point in the proceedings, he brought out Sexyy Red, who performed alongside him in a red cropped hoodie and black leggings. Red is currently enjoying a meteoric rise to stardom. She earned major industry attention for her track “Pound Town”, which was later remixed by Nicki Minaj. That remix, dubbed “Pound Town 2”, peaked at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100. She followed that with her second mixtape, Hottest Hood Princess.

Red performed “Pound Town” and “SkeeYee” while getting major hype from Scott. However, it’s unclear wherever there is anything more to this guest appearance. It’s very possible that Scott was simply giving some airtime to an up-and-coming star. However, could this be a backdoor teaser for a feature on Utopia? After all, Utopia will have some features. The Weeknd recently kicked off the second leg of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour. The artist performed in London, rocking a futuristic mirrored mask. The stadium tour will see The Weeknd make over 30 stops across Europe and Latin America. It features notable dates in Paris, Barcelona, Milan, and more.

Earlier this week, it was also revealed that The Weeknd is set to appear on Travis Scott’s upcoming album. Amir Esmailian, XO Records co-founder and co-manager, shared the news this week. The Weeknd had previously been photographed alongside Travis Scott’s famous UTOPIA briefcase, but now, fans finally have confirmation. The highly-anticipated LP, UTOPIA, does not yet have an official release date. Travis Scott has continued to tease the album every chance he gets, even recently arriving to Michael Rubin’s White Party in the Hamptons in a UTOPIA tour bus.

In a recent interview with Variety, The Weeknd explained that the show has managed to accomplish what they set out to do. “My goal was for people to feel that way when they watch it, you know, and that they’ll reassess (fame),” he explained. “It’s almost educational that this is what comes with being incredibly famous. You’re surrounded by people who you’re not sure what their true intentions are, even if it seems like they’re good. You just never know,” he continued.

Though it was previously stated that the album would be released this month, no official release date has been confirmed. Travis Scott has also continued to tease various collabs that may appear on the album. The Weeknd was photographed alongside the briefcase, and a member of SZA’s security was seen handcuffed to it backstage at her tour. When Travis previewed a collaboration with Bad Bunny in Monaco, it also convinced fans that he may appear on UTOPIA.

Recently, Travis Scott also worked alongside former professional tennis player John McEnroe on a new Nike Mac Attack shoe campaign. While most of the Houston native’s concerts go off without a hitch, when things do happen, she handles them exactly as you’d expect her to. During Queen B’s final night in London on the RENAISSANCE World Tour she experienced a wardrobe malfunction in the midst of “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM,” but she cooly played it off and continued to dance along to the fan favourite track.

It was the mother of three’s first time donning the outfit for the song (we’ve already seen countless wardrobe changes from Bey, and she hasn’t even hit the US yet), and her hat nearly slid off her head while she was focusing on her fancy footwork. Thankfully she caught it before it could fall, and continued on with the choreography while holding it in place as if that was what she had intended all along. Of course, fans in the audience caught the moment on camera, and TikTok has seen been having a field jay cracking jokes.

When he tried to back it up and reverse his way out, it seems the situation got even stickier for him.

Furthermore, Stormzy’s yellow Lambo was reportedly stuck for about 15 minutes before hotel staff came to assist. After they moved one of the other vehicles to open space, the South Norwood artist was able to leave with no further issues. While it might seem like a small and inarguably expensive delay, time is greater than money for most celebrities out there.
