Vince Staples Trolls Fan For His Attempt At Performing “Big Fish” On Stage At Lollapalooza

Vince Staples trolled a white fan at Lollapalooza by challenging him to perform “Big Fish” to prove he wasn’t racist. Staples picked the fan, Stefan, out of the crowd and began peppering him with questions. Eventually, he brought him up on stage to partake in the bit.

“If you do this right, I’m not gonna think you’re racist. If you f*ck this up, I’m gonna think you say n****r when you go home,” Staples remarked. Stefan confirmed he doesn’t say the word when he’s in private. From there, Stefan struggled to remember the lyrics to “Big Fish.” He got out Juicy J’s part on the hook, “I was up late night ballin’ / Countin’ up hundreds by the thousand.” Afterward, a fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked Staples: “Why did you punish us with that kids terrible attempt at big fish [crying emojis] you knew he didn’t know it?” He responded: “You right I did… my bad.”

In response to Staples’ post, fans joined in on the jokes. “U saw that tall white boy sprinting thru the crowd and took the opportunity to give some reparations, u good,” one user wrote back. Another wrote: “Thank you for an actual real audience participation segment that was funny as hell.” Staples released “Big Fish” on the tracklist to Big Fish Theory back in 2017. Vince Staples Brings A Fan On Stage

Staples’ appearance at the music festival comes after the release of his latest album, Dark Times, which dropped back in May. Additionally, he contributed a guest verse on JPEGMAFIA’s new album, I Lay Down My Life for You, for the song, “New Black History.” That project released on Friday. Megan Thee Stallion Is Over The ‘Fake’ Outrage Following Her ‘Light Twerk’-Filled Performance At Kamala Harris’ Campaign Rally

Some religious folks support dropping it low for Jesus. So, a subtle gyration for an elected official shouldn’t ruffle too many feathers, or so Megan Thee Stallion thought.

On July 30, the “Where Them Girls At” rapper threw her support and her backside around for Vice President Kamala Harris during her rally. Although the Atlanta, Georgia crowd were enthused to witness Megan’s performance. Users online called out the entertainer out for her sexual dance moves on stage.

However, at Lollapalooza 2024, Megan Thee Stallion clapped back at critics of her “light twerk.”

“They was fake mad that I was popping it for Kamala,” she said. “I don’t think they heard what she said. Kamala said she wants a ceasefire. Kamala said she supports women’s rights. Kamala said she’s tired of these high ass gas prices.”

Megan then addressed what she considered to be subdued choreography. “Tonight I’m not giving y’all my light twerk,” she said. “I’m giving y’all my hardest twerk in the motherf*cking rain. ‘Cause I want the Hotties to have a good motherf*cking time. I want the Hotties to do what the f*ck they want to do, when the f*ck they want to do it. I want the Hotties to be bad b*tches when all the time. Hotties For Harris!”

Lollapalooza 2024 Goes Green with Hybrid-Powered Main Stage and Expanded Sustainability Efforts

lollapalooza.jpg

Lollapalooza is thrilled to announce that this year’s Main Stage, sponsored by T-Mobile, will be powered entirely by a hybrid battery system, marking the first time a major U.S. festival has achieved this feat. In collaboration with Live Nation’s Green Nation initiative, T-Mobile, and CES Power, the hybrid-powered stage will utilize over 1.5 MWh of battery storage capacity, significantly reducing the need for biodiesel generators and cutting down on fuel consumption and emissions.

“We have set a goal to build a more sustainable future for music festivals, which requires taking bold steps to find solutions that can reinvent how we operate and in turn, build industry trust in new technology so that major live events can see a path towards becoming more energy efficient,” said Jake Perry, Director of Operations and Sustainability at C3 Presents. “Lollapalooza is a leader in sustainable solutions, and we are proud to have aligned ourselves with partners that have the same passion and experience to execute this mission.”

“Solutions like the ones Lollapalooza are pioneering not only contribute toward our global Green Nation goal of cutting our emissions in half by 2030, but they provide local benefits as well through reduced noise and air pollution which creates a better experience overall for the artists, fans and crew,” said Lucy August-Perna, Head of Global Sustainability at Live Nation. “We look forward to sharing the results and learnings from Lollapalooza with our network of over 200+ festivals around the world who are committed to raising the bar for more sustainable live events.”

The festival’s 2024 edition will also spotlight conservation efforts through a new partnership with Re:wild, an organization co-founded by renowned conservation scientists and Leonardo DiCaprio. Re:wild
will engage with festival-goers to promote plant-based diets as a crucial step toward reducing biodiversity loss and ecosystem destruction. To support this initiative, Lollapalooza has expanded its plant-based food options with the introduction of Plant Base, a dedicated food court featuring a variety of vendors serving entirely plant-based meals.

As a recipient of the Illinois Sustainability Award, Lollapalooza continues to integrate sustainable practices throughout Grant Park. These efforts include comprehensive recycling and composting programs, the use of eco-friendly service items at Chow Town, and the provision of free, filtered water at Hydration Stations. The festival also employs the TURN reusable cup system to minimize single-use plastic waste and relies on biodiesel for all generators and equipment. Additionally, Lollapalooza funds renewable energy projects through carbon offset purchases.

Lollapalooza 2024 kicks off this Thursday at Grant Park in downtown Chicago, featuring performances by SZA, Tyler, The Creator, blink-182, The Killers, Future X Metro Boomin, Hozier, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez, and Skrillex, among many others. Limited tickets are available at www.lollapalooza.com.

Fans can stay updated by signing up for the Lollapalooza SMS and Email Lists and following the festival’s social media accounts. Lollapalooza is proudly supported by T-Mobile, Bud Light, IHG® Hotels & Resorts, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, BACARDÍ, Hulu, PayPal, Venmo, Toyota, BMI, and Lifeway Kefir.

Tyler The Creator Pulled Out Of Lollapalooza And Outside Lands, A Move He Called ‘Not Sexy At All’

On Juneteenth, Tyler The Creator made a surprise appearance during Mustard’s set at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out — Ken & Friends concert at Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Tyler performed “WusYaName” and “Earfquake,” which was awesome when it happened, but seeing Tyler The Creator perform holds more weight now that he won’t be performing two major festivals this summer.

On Thursday morning, June 20, Tyler The Creator announced that he will no longer co-headline Lollapalooza 2024 in Chicago on August 1, and he also pulled out of co-headlining Outside Lands Festival in San Fransisco on August 10.

“I hate saying this but I have to cancel Lollapalooza and Outside Lands,” Tyler The Creator posted on X (formerly Twitter). “I made a commitment that I can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. That is not sexy at all. Please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. Love.”

Simultaneously, Lollapalooza announced Megan Thee Stallion and Outside Lands announced Sabrina Carpenter as their respective replacements for Tyler.

In April, Tyler The Creator headlined both Saturday nights of Coachella 2024, which stood out to Uproxx’s Aaron Williams as Tyler fulfilling “a decade-long dream” by delivering a set that “lived up to the hype.”

Tyler The Creator Cancels Lollapalooza & Outside Land Festival Sets, Megan Thee Stallion & Sabrina Carpenter Replacing Him

Tyler The Creator is one of the best performers alive right now, and anytime he’s headlining a festival, it’s a great chance to see him at peak powers. Sadly, he announced on Thursday morning (June 20) that he has to cancel his slots at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 1 and Outside Lands in San Francisco on August 10. These festivals acted quickly to secure replacements, though, and fans will be treated to Megan Thee Stallion and Sabrina Carpenter instead, respectively. While this news surely disappointed many fans and concert-goers, unfortunately not all live performances can work out as scheduled, and the Los Angeles native just so happened to be the latest example in this common reality.

“I hate saying this but I have to cancel Lollapalooza and Outside Lands,” Tyler, The Creator wrote on Twitter, which contained a vague explanation and sincere apologies and remorse. “I made a commitment that I can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. That is not sexy at all. Please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. Love.”

Tyler The Creator Pulls Out Of Lollapalooza & Outside Lands Festivals

Of course, this carries a particularly different sting to it depending on whether or not you went to Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert last night (Wednesday, Juneteenth). Tyler, The Creator was one of many hometown artists who came out for a special guest performance, electrifying the crowd with “WUSYANAME” and “EARFQUAKE.” Out of all the surprises and invitees both onstage and in the crowd, the Hawthorne creative was probably the one that shocked fans the most. After all, his name didn’t appear much in fan speculation about who would join K.Dot for the momentous occasion, and not a single soul complained about this welcome link-up.

Meanwhile, for anyone that knows the extent of Tyler, The Creator’s longevity as an artist and performer, they know that he will likely repay these canceled festival headline sets soon with more great performances. Also, this longevity became very apparent in his music when his 2013 album Wolf recently reached over a billion streams on Spotify. Hopefully Golf Wang fans who looked forward to Lollapalooza and Outside Lands get another chance soon to see their GOAT. But at least Los Angeles got a special treat to make up for it.
