Jonathan Majors’ Next Court Date Revealed, Motion To Dismiss Still In Limbo

Jonathan Majors went through quite the rollercoaster recently when it comes to his domestic violence case. Moreover, the court delayed the next crucial hearing in the misdemeanor assault trial to October 25 in New York, according to Deadline. This update came amid his and his legal team’s motion to dismiss the trial and their efforts to put the ordeal behind them. However, the District Attorney’s office still hasn’t responded to this plea as of writing this article, and have until October 6 to do so. Then, the defense must respond by October 13 to further determine the state that this case will progress in.

Furthermore, the case will either move forward in formal court or dismissed to the whims of the court of public opinion. In that case, though, it seems like Jonathan Majors actually might start flipping the narrative around thanks to two arguing teenage women at an In-N-Out. A video recently surfaced of the actor breaking up a fight between the two, which received skeptical claims of it being a publicity stunt. Whethe fabricated or not, it certainly helped Majors get somewhat positive attention in the media.

Jonathan Majors To Return To Court On October 25

Discussion around this case is murky, with allegations and accusations thrown at both sides by each other- and everyone else. Still, apart from regular folks, Jonathan Majors nabbed defenses from his friends in Hollywood for better or worse, including Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie. “We’re a country that was built on ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty,’” he remarked to Inverse back in June. “That’s one of the staples of this country. Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say. It’s cr*zy where we are as a society. But as a country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”

Meanwhile, many believe that this public celebrity timeline takes the focus away from the actual severity of the case. For as many people that came forward to stick up for the 34-year-old, there were many from his past that denounced him. Either way, it’s not up to anyone to evaluate or examine but the court now, and their decisions leading up to and after October 25 will determine its course. YFN Lucci’s Attorney Issues Motion Demanding Speedy Trial

YFN Lucci’s RICO case has been in the courts for a long time, but there’s been little progression when it comes to bringing it fully underway. In that meantime, various developments came into effect, but none that have fully kept the trial moving, for understandable or confusing reasons. As such, the rapper’s legal team seeks to apply pressure to the court to move it forward as much as they can within a specific timeframe. Moreover, his attorney filed a motion demanding a speedy trial on Wednesday (August 30) that details its conditions and expectations. Apparently, if the court agrees, they could acquit the Atlanta MC of all charges if his trial doesn’t fully begin soon.

“I hereby certify that I have on this day served a true and correct copy of the within and foregoing DEMAND FOR SPEEDY TRIAL upon all parties or counsel of record via US Postal Service, hand delivery, or the Court’s e-filing system,” the motion reads. “Submitted this the 30th day of August, 2023. …Prosecutor and Judge’s chambers with a copy of this Demand For Speedy Trial. Therefore, Mr. Bennett respectfully requests that he be tried at this Term of Court or at the next Term of Court or the following Term of this Court. In default of such trial, [he requests] that he be fully acquitted and discharged of said offenses lodged against him in the instant Indictment.”

YFN Lucci’s Lawyer’s Speedy Trial Motion

Reportedly, these court terms refer to the next six months, which sets a deadline for the court to try YFN Lucci. That seems quite optimistic considering the trajectory of the trial so far. Still, it’s possible that the court came close to putting this case in motion. While this motion seems like a Hail Mary, this legal battle is no stranger to surprises.

Meanwhile, among the most notable recent happenings in this case is that the 32-year-old denied a plea deal. Furthermore, it seems like he and his team want to fight this without resorting to extracurricular methods. They fought hard to get to this point, and this extra pressure could force authorities to avoid the risk of letting him go. Tory Lanez Reportedly Married Now According To Bail Motion

Tory Lanez is currently in the middle of his appeal and bail process, which so far revealed some very interesting and surprising information. However, this specific new development has little to do with his crimes, and more with his personal life and growth. Moreover, reporter Meghann Cuniff recently released the full bail motion from the Canadian artist’s legal team. It states that his fiancée, Raina Chassagne, with whom he shares a six-year-old child, is now his wife. Furthermore, this relationship seemingly developed quickly, as Cuniff explained in the tweet containing a screenshot of the legal document.

“From his sentencing hearing engagement announcement to his bail motion wedding announcement, Tory Lanez’s relationship status has advanced rapidly in the last few weeks,” Meghann Cuniff remarked. “His fiancée is now his wife, according to the motion.” Specifically, this move mentioned the wedding in relation to Daystar Peterson being unlikely to flee or go off the map is he gets bail. Even though it’s a hard time, it’s at least a silver lining for Lanez amid a lot of struggle. Despite his actions and attitude, it’s always important for people to have someone there to help them.

Tory Lanez’s Bail Motion

“Mr. Peterson continues to have strong ties to the community, as shown through testimony at his sentencing hearing within this honorable court on August 7th and 8th, 2023,” Tory Lanez’s bail motion read. “If released, he would live locally in the Los Angeles area, with his wife, Raina Chassagne, and their child, aged 6 years-old. Upon receiving bail, Mr. Peterson’s wife and child will be relocating from Florida to Los Angeles, where the child will be regularly attending school. They will rent a home near Mr. Peterson’s father, step-mother, siblings, and their children.”

Meanwhile, it seems like Lanez’s legal team is still committed to getting him out of prison and shifting things as much in his favor as possible. It’s still a controversial situation, but one that’s mostly in retrospect now. It wouldn’t be surprising if that changes, but his sights are on the court system now, not Megan Thee Stallion or the culture. YNW Melly Trial: Motion Filed Against Lead Detective Amid Excessive Force Investigation

The lead detective in the double murder case of YNW Melly is now the subject of a motion from the rapper’s legal team. “(The defense team) has recently learned that the lead detective, Detective M. Moretti, is under investigation and that an Assistant State Attorney has given a statement concerning an incident involving excessive force used by him against a potential witness in this case,” wrote attorney Stuart Adelstein.

As the motion states, Detective Moretti is reportedly under investigation for using “excessive force” against a witness in Melly’s case. The defense is asking that all materials in that investigation be turned over to them for review. Moretti is a 20-year veteran of the Miramar Police Department and has no previous instances of administrative discipline on his record. A date for a hearing on the motion has not been announced. The news was originally reported by Bryson “Boom” Paul, whose tireless work has been crucial to the coverage of this case.

Rough Week In YNW Melly Trial

This news caps off another tough week for Melly and his family. A day before the motion was filed on August 23, Melly’s mother Jamie made some shocking claims. “I woke up this morning just wanting to talk to my son and hear his voice. Jamel has not had phone calls in almost a year no visits and is on 23/1 lockdown. This is mental torture. Even the Parkland school shooter had phone calls and visits,” she wrote on Twitter.

Melly’s re-trial is due to begin in October. Prosecutors are aggressively pushing for the death penalty. In a harsh ruling against Melly, Judge Murphy ruled that the death penalty could be applied in an 8-4 jury ruling, as opposed to a unanimous one. Melly’s trial will begin days after that of his alleged co-conspirator, YNW Bortlen. It will be interesting to see how the two trials overlap as they occur at the same time. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.
