Drake’s Alleged Motivations Behind “Not Like Us” Lawsuit Revealed

The true motivation behind Drake taking legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify allegedly revolves around negotiations he’s currently involved in with his label, according to Loren Lorosa. Taking to social media on Monday night, she reported that sources close to the Toronto rapper’s camp have told her they believe UMG is trying to use the success of “Not Like Us” to bury him.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lorosa wrote: “Drake’s side decided to file this suit not just because of the ‘Not Like Us’ song. It’s bigger than just the song which is why Drake is suing the label and NOT Kendrick directly. From what I’m told .. Drake allegedly feels as if his label UMG.. is using money he’s made them to fund Kendrick Lamar’s song burying him amidst a sensitive label negotiation he’s currently in. Drake feels like the label is allegedly not protecting a major asset.. (him) which is conveniently timed around the time he’s in negotiations for a new deal with the label. From what I’m told.. Drakes feeling like .. If I was a taylor swift a lot of things would not of happened in this whole Drake and Kendrick back and forth.”

Drake filed the petition in Manhattan court on Monday, alleging that UMG and Spotify worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” He is accusing UMG of using bots and payola, among other methods in what he describes as an “illegal” scheme. “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” his lawyers wrote. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.”

Loren Lorosa Explains Drake’s Intentions

The petition accuses UMG of violating the RICO Act as well as using deceptive business practices and false advertising. His decision to file has been going viral on social media amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Check out Loren Lorosa’s report about Drake’s legal action below. Drake Puts Universal Music On Blast In Resurfaced Tweet From 2011

Drake has seemingly run out of rappers to battle with, so now he’s taking on record labels. The 6 God decided to file a petition against Universal Music Group on Monday, November 25. The petition claimed that UMG partnered with Spotify to boost the sales and visibility of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” all the while failing to put the same effort and promotion behind Drake’s music. It was definitely surprising, but those who have been following Drake’s career know this label tension is nothing new.

Kanye West’s Claims About Lucian Grange Resurface Amidst Drake Lawsuit

Drake had already been criticized for his handling of the Kendrick Lamar battle. It was widely assumed that the Toronto superstar lost the battle, despite turning in some impressive diss records. The decision he made on Monday, November 25, however, soured this silver lining. Drake filed a legal petition against his own record label, UMG, and accused them of serious wrongdoing in the Lamar battle. These claims have shocked and disappointed fans. Some, however, have noted that Kanye West alluded to tension between Drizzy and UMG months ago.

Kanye West gave a lengthy interview on The Download Podcast at the peak of the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle in April. He previewed a remix of the Dot-featuring single “Like That,” in which he called out UMG CEO Lucian Grainge by name. “Where’s Lucian? Serve your master, n**ga,” he rapped. “You caught a little bag for your masters, didn’t ya?. Lifetime deal, I feel bad for n**gas.” West provided context for the bars during the interview. He claimed that Grainge is Drake’s “rich baby daddy,” alluding to Drake’s song of the same name.

Kanye West Called Grainge Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy”

“Drake has a rich baby daddy named Lucian and Universal,” Kanye West alleged. “He’s like, ‘man, my daddy got it. My daddy control the spins. My daddy got the DSPs. Drake has a rich baby daddy.” Kanye West claimed that Drake’s music has become so commodified and controlled by the so called “machine” that it no longer connects with listeners. This is especially the cast, he felt, with regard to Kendrick Lamar disses. “Drop and give me 50, ain’t nobody gonna drop and do sh*t,” West said. “Your raps don’t mean sh*t.”

Kanye West has made lots of inflammatory statements during his career. At this point, he’s better known for saying controversial things than he is making great music. That said, Drake’s decision to file a lawsuit against UMG and Spotify has fans second guessing West’s allegations on The Download. The response to Drake’s lawsuit has not been positive, with many feeling the 6 God is reacting extremely poorly to his loss in the Kendrick Lamar battle. Perhaps West will get his dream of seeing an “eliminated” Drake after all.

Drake Hits UMG & Spotify With Bombshell Allegations Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Streams

Drake is taking legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify with allegations that the two companies worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” Through his company, Frozen Moments LLC, the Toronto rapper is accusing UMG of using bots and payola, among other methods in what he describes as an “illegal” scheme. According to Billboard, the filing doesn’t constitute a lawsuit, but instead a “pre-action” petition.

St. Lunatics Officially Retract From Nelly Lawsuit, But Legal Dispute Isn’t Over Yet

Nelly now has less headaches to worry about concerning a credits and royalties lawsuit against him from his group St. Lunatics. Moreover, lawyers reportedly removed three of the group’s four other members from the lawsuit – specifically Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, and City Spud – on Friday (November 22). That means that only Ali seeks royalties from the St. Louis rapper’s Country Grammar album. The three other members expressed months ago that they never consented to appearing as co-plaintiffs in the legal move.

In fact, Nelly and these St. Lunatics even performed together recently despite the dispute. For those unaware, the lawsuit alleged that Ashanti’s boo falsely claimed that he and the label would pay them for their work on the 2000 classic. “Every time plaintiffs confronted defendant Haynes [he] would assure them as ‘friends’ he would never prevent them from receiving the financial success they were entitled to,” the lawsuit claims. “Unfortunately, plaintiffs, reasonably believing that their friend and former band member would never steal credit for writing the original compositions, did not initially pursue any legal remedies.” After this lawsuit surfaced, a lawyer for the three dissenting Lunatics sent a letter to the case’s attorneys a week after its filing, indicating that the group members “informed me that they did not authorize [the lawyers] to include them as plaintiffs.”

“They are hereby demanding you remove their names forthwith,” N. Scott Rosenblum shared in their letter concerning the Nelly and St. Lunatics case. “Failure to do so will cause them to explore any and all legal remedies available to them.” According to Billboard, on Friday, Ali’s lawyers removed Lee, Kyjuan, and Spud as plaintiffs, but they also added more allegations and claims to their case. For example, Ali now sues HarbourView Equity Partners due to their business with the “Hot In Herre” MC. He sold his catalog to the company last summer for $50 million, and this “substantial transaction” apparently led to this legal move.

At this juncture, it became apparent that, notwithstanding defendant Haynes’ repeated assurances … defendant would not fulfill his longstanding promises to compensate plaintiff,” Ali’s attorney’s wrote of Nelly.

Dawn Richard’s Lawyer Alleges Singer Was “Absolutely Terrified” Of Diddy

Dawn Richard’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, said that her client was “absolutely terrified” of Diddy during an interview with BBC’s Newsnight on Thursday. The former Danity Kane member filed a lawsuit against the Bad Boy mogul back in September with allegations of sexual assault and battery. Speaking about the lawsuit, Bloom alleged to Newsnight that Richard was threatened with more “physical violence” after she went public. “She said Sean Combs had a vicious temper and she was absolutely terrified of him,” Bloom said.

She also alleged that Richard witnessed “some severe acts of violence” from Diddy against his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. “Dawn Richard, my client, says that when she spoke out about it, tried to get Cassie to speak out… When she complained about it, she was also threatened with physical violence. So [it was] just a really violent, tumultuous atmosphere,” Bloom said.

As for the lawsuit, Bloom alleged: “he groped and grabbed her body parts, sexually assaulted her, that he not only failed to pay her money that was promised to her, but actually prevented her from eating and sleeping during those years – just treated her terribly.” Diddy has already vehemently denied the allegations. His lawyer, Erica Wolff, told BBC that the rapper was “shocked and disappointed” by the lawsuit and that Richard had “manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a pay day.”

Lisa Bloom Discusses Diddy

Bloom’s interview with BBC comes as Diddy remains behind bars in Brooklyn at the Metropolitan Detention Center after authorities arrested him, earlier this year, on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. He’s already pleaded not guilty and denied those allegations as well. His trial is set to kick off in May of next year. Check out Lisa Bloom’s full interview with BBC below.

Kanye West Accused Of Assaulting Model Jenn An In New Lawsuit

Kanye West has been hit with no shortage of lawsuits in recent months, and today, he’s facing one more. According to TMZ, model Jenn An is suing both him and Universal Music Group for alleged gender-motivated violence. An, who appeared in cycle 13 of the competition series America’s Next Top Model, alleges that he picked her out of a lineup of women during a 2010 shoot for his song with La Roux “In For the Kill.”

Allegedly, Ye said “Give me the Asian girl,” and they began shooting a scene at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City. An says that at that point, things took a turn for the worse. She recalls wearing revealing lingerie, and the Chicago rapper allegedly telling her “That’s why I chose you.” He then allegedly had her sit across from him with the camera pointed at her, and began to strangle her.

Allegedly, he also “rammed several fingers down her throat, continuously moved them in and out, and gagged her to emulate forced oral sex.” An alleges that this continued for over a minute and that Ye proceeded to make some disturbing remarks about it. “This is art. This is f**king art. I am like Picasso,” he allegedly said.

In the lawsuit, An says that what she allegedly experienced more closely resembled “pornographic gagging/deep throat/BDSM fetishes” than a music video shoot. Ultimately, none of her or Ye’s scenes made it into the final music video, which An says is the alleged result of “high-profile figures” doing their best to “bury” the incident. At the time of writing, Ye has yet to publicly address the lawsuit.

Simon Guobadia Hits Porsha Williams With Lawsuit Over Alleged Erectile Dysfunction Claims

It goes without saying that Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s divorce has gotten ugly in recent months. The former partners have thrown countless jabs at one another online, and unfortunately, one of them has now resulted in a lawsuit. According to TMZ, Guobadia has decided to take legal action against his ex over an accusation she made back in July. At the time, she seemingly accused him of suffering from erectile dysfunction in a series of posts. She didn’t call him out by name, but the timing didn’t seem like a coincidence.

The father of her child, Dennis McKinley, even jumped in to throw a bit of shade Guobadia’s way. “#CityBoys @cityboys y’all be safe out here. We down like 100,000 this week & remember always give #HD not #ED [money] not enough my boy,” he wrote. Guobadia didn’t take it well, firing back at Williams immediately with a lawsuit threat.

“The next narrative has arrived.. Erectile dysfunction (ED) #wifeforethestreets,” he responded on Instagram. “This ‘railroad’ ‘265 day’ just does not get it…there are consequences for making inflammatory and defamatory statements. Get your coins together, you’re going to need every dime to defend what’s coming. A woman that has a history of coming for the manhood of every ex. Peddling same old narrative and tricks; unfortunately you met the right one. #railroad265days#married453days.”

Obviously, Guobadia wasn’t kidding. In court documents, he accuses Williams of making “false and defamatory” statements about him. He alleges that they damaged his reputation, and is reportedly seeking damages. At the time of writing, Williams has yet to respond to the lawsuit. Guobadia’s filing arrives just a few months after Williams alleged that he was worth a whopping $300 million. She also alleged that he was “using those resources to propound intrusive and harassing discovery requests that clearly violate the intent and spirit of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement.”

Grace Jabbari Drops Lawsuit Against Jonathan Majors Following Meagan Good Engagement

Jonathan Majors will seemingly close a very huge and turbulent chapter of his life, as his ex girlfriend Grace Jabbari dropped the federal defamation and assault lawsuit against him on Thursday (November 21), according to AllHipHop. For those unaware, she sued him three months after a New York court found him guilty of assaulting and harassing her in March of 2023. The actor received a domestic violence counseling sentence a month after his former partner filed another lawsuit alleging defamation. She specifically accused him of portraying her as an outright liar and not a survivor, characterizing his claims of innocence after the guilty verdict as purely defamatory.

Furthermore, Grace Jabbari accused Jonathan Majors of defamation given that he “participated in an exclusive interview with ABC News wherein he doubled down on his public attack of Grace, claiming that she is lying about the entire pattern of abuse she has described, as he has ‘never laid [his] hands on a woman,’” per legal documents. Now, however, attorneys on both sides filed a joint notice in the court this past Thursday to announce that they “dismissed” the legal battle “with prejudice.”

This is another piece of good news for Jonathan Majors, as he and Meagan Good also recently announced their engagement. The two proved to be quite the controversial couple not just because of his legal scandal, but also because there were frequent rumors about trouble in paradise. Of course, you can say the same about plenty of celebrity relationships, but this one particularly threw fans for a loop. Nevertheless, it seems like they are happier than ever these days, and we’re sure that this dropped lawsuit should also cause plenty of celebration.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Majors is also looking for other revenue and income streams after this legal controversy, including selling autographs at conventions. We don’t know if that’s just for the love of the game or if he’s really in a financial bind, so let’s not speculate too much. Regardless, things seem to be looking up, so we’ll see what else happens in the future and whether this legal saga has another chapter to it.

Milagro Gramz Eviscerates Joe Budden For Speaking On Megan Thee Stallion’s Lawsuit Against Her

Milagro Gramz is tired of people talking about her without doing their proper research, or at least, that’s what she’s accusing Joe Budden of. The YouTuber recently took to Instagram Live and blasted the podcaster for talking about her legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion.

“So to sit up and to try to bring me up like you got a leg to stand on is crazy,” Milagro Gramz jabbed at Joe Budden. “I could see if you had a difference of opinion, and you was coming at me. But babe, you block people who don’t laugh. And I block people who waste my time, just like you. Look at you, blocked. And I’ma block some more h*es if I feel like it. So I’m just confused as to why he feels the need to do that. Okay, second of all – But I already know why. This the hate train era?

Milagro Gramz Blasts Joe Budden For Bringin Up Megan Thee Stallion Drama

“So anyway, then he decides to bring me up, you know, off the tail end of Tasha K,” Milagro Gramz continued concerning Joe Budden. “I have an issue with something that Tasha K said about me in the past. I did not like it, it was a full-fledged lie. She owes me an apology. I’ve stood on that for years. […] So I moved on with my life. […] That ain’t stop me from interacting with her because there are stories to be told and there’s different things to talk about. But do I have an active issue with Tasha K? No. It’s as simple as what I said it was. She owes me an apology. It’s a lot of s**t that I could get over with some acknowledgement. ‘Cause it’s all about principles in the first place for me. So I ain’t got to hold onto it if you address it. But she hasn’t addressed it.”

For those unaware, Megan Thee Stallion accused Milagro Gramz of spreading false information about the Tory Lanez shooting case. It seems like the case will go to trial next year, although some rumors of a settlement continue to persist in certain Internet corners. We’ll see if Joe Budden changes his tune about any of this after this call-out.
