Kid Cudi Takes Us To The Moon In “Crater” Trailer

Kid Cudi is ready to take audiences on a trip among the stars as Disney released the first trailer for Crater. Credited as Scott Mescudi, Cudi will play a small role in the upcoming sci-fi coming-of-age film. It’s the latest role for Cudi, who has also been involved on both sides of the camera in Ti West’s X trilogy. While his role in Crater is not expected to be major, Cudi’s presence dominates the film’s first trailer.

Crater is the latest from Kyle Patrick (Easier with Practice, C.O.G., The Stanford Prison Experiment). It is set to be a breakout role for young star Isaiah Russell-Bailey. After starring in Family Reunion, it serves as a major step away from television for the 17-year-old. The rest of the cast, besides Cudi, is a collection of young stars. With a few exceptions, it is the first major role for a majority of them.

“Crater” Set To Be A Coming Of Age In Space

Crater is set to follow Caleb (Russell-Bailey), a teenager living in a moon colony in 2257. As Caleb’s late father (Kid Cudi) narrates the importance of road trips, we see Caleb and his friends embark across the lunar surface to visit a distant crater. The trailer spends time building the relationship between father and son before reveling in its futuristic setting. The film is also set to star Mckenna Grace (Fuller House, The Haunting of Hill House), Billy Barratt (Responsible Child), Orson Hong (John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch, Only Murders In The Buildings), and Thomas Boyce (Neuroblast).

The ragtag friend group and various perils, along with Cudi’s narration, invoke classics of the coming-of-age genre. Crater evidently draws on the likes of Stand By Me, but with the novel introduction of its off-world setting. In short, it is a far-future homage to the pivotal 80s films that defined the genre. Variations of the coming-of-age genre have become increasingly common. 2019’s Rim Of The World showcased the potential that science fiction had for the genre. But the message of the film’s first trailer is clear. Regardless of what’s in the crater, the real treasure was the friends we made along the way. Crater will release on Disney+ on May 12.

Kid Cudi Lives Up To His Nickname In The ‘Crater’ Trailer For Disney Plus

Kid Cudi has always called himself “The Man on The Moon,” even going as far as using the title for three of his albums (most recently in 2020), but he really lives up to his nickname in the trailer for the upcoming Disney+ original film, Crater.

A throwback to the kids’ adventure films of the ’80s and ’90s, Crater follows a group of five teens as they take a road trip to a mysterious crater at the behest of one kid’s dad, played by Cudi. Oh, by the way, that crater is on the moon, where they live. The classic formula gets a cool sci-fi update, transplanting the usual danger-laden road trip to the future, when mankind has colonized the Earth’s moon via a massive dome on its surface.

Cudi encourages his movie son to visit the crater, far outside the safety of the dome, and his voiceover throughout the trailer seems to suggest that the point is the journey, not necessarily the destination. Along the way, the kids encounter potentially deadly meteor showers, play a game of low-G baseball — that home run hit is definitely out of the park — and experience some young love. It looks very nostalgic and futuristic at the same time and utterly delightful as a way for millennials to bond with their own kids.

Crater is just one of the many, many projects on Cudi’s docket for the year, which include even more movie and television projects, a tour, and a new album. Check out the trailer above.

Crater will stream on Disney+ beginning May 12.fall

Childish Gambino Looked Back On Getting Booed While Opening For Kid Cudi Early In His Music Career

It might sound weird to think about now, but before Donald Glover was the celebrated artist he is today, he used to struggle to get any positive feedback on his work at all. In fact, he used to get booed. In a new profile in GQ, the artist alternatively known as Childish Gambino recalled a particularly hairy incident during his early career when an opening set for Kid Cudi went left.

“At the time I had a full band and a violinist,” he recalled. “I just kept turning to the band and telling them, ‘Next song! Next song!’ I put on a really intense show through the boos.”

Of course, that was a long time ago. Donald, who recently revealed he wasn’t quite ready to retire the Gambino persona just yet, has been receiving praise for his show Atlanta, as well as a related series, Swarm, he co-created with Atlanta writer Janine Nabers. He’s been Grammy nominated and has landed a string of plum roles, from Lando in Star Wars spinoff Solo to Simba in the Lion King remake.

He also intimated to GQ that a return to stand-up could be in the offing as well. He says this was encouraged by Chris Rock, who asked him, “‘Why aren’t you doing this sh*t?’” It looks like his tenacious desire to overcome negative reception is still intact.

The ‘Barbie’ Movie’s Black Ken Looks Just Like Kid Cudi… According To Kid Cudi

No, that’s not Kid Cudi in the new Barbie cast image reveals… but Ncuti Gatwa could be a dead ringer for the Man On The Moon thanks to his Ken doll-inspired dye job. The outfit in the Rwandan-British actor’s photo, complete with jean vest, red cowboy hat, and guitar, does look a lot like something Cudi would have worn a few years ago during his own bleach-blonde phase, and Cudi good-naturedly pointed out the resemblance on Twitter.

“This me,” he joked, reposting the photo with a sobbing emoji.

As far as why Kid Cudi isn’t in Greta Gerwig’s ode to the most popular girls’ toy of the past 60 years, it’s probably just because he’s looking extremely busy for the remainder of the year. After musing that he might be considering retirement, he got super productive, finishing up an album, plotting a world tour for next year, and booking a string of festival appearances including HARD Summer and the Hive Festival. And that’s just music!

Cudi told a fan on Twitter that in addition to his musical endeavors, he’s launching a clothing line, directing his first movie, starring in a bunch of movies, and even some TV. He even joked — maybe — that he’s getting into stand-up comedy.

Kid Cudi Teases Wiz Khalifa Collab

Seems like this year’s 4/20 might be shaping up to be a big one. Kid Cudi recently jumped on Twitter to tease a potential collab with Wiz Khalifa. The 39-year-old rapper has previously collaborated with many of the biggest names in the industry. He has lent his singular artistry to Ye and Travis Scott, among many others. A Cudi and Wiz collab has been teased before, but it has never come to fruition. Whether or not something will come of the tease this time remains to be seen. However, many fans would love to see the two rappers on a track together.

Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, is a rapper and actor from Cleveland, Ohio. The overwhelming success of his 2008 single, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” was the catalyst for his rise to fame. The song was featured on his debut album, Man On the Moon: The End of the Day, and has gone 5x platinum. Since then, he has released six studio albums, many of which explore topics related to mental health. He has also made a number of noteworthy appearances in film and TV, including in Ti West’s hit horror film X and the HBO series How to Make It in America. Cudi’s distinctive style and reflective songs have brought him critical praise and a devoted following.

Cudi Plays It Close To The Chest

Yesterday, Cudi tweeted something that immediately had fans buzzing. “Got in contact w Wiz,” the tweet said, followed by a smiling devil emoji. The news is big, if true, but we’ve been burned before. In 2018, Wiz posed for a photo with Cudi, which was posted on his Instagram account. In the caption, he wrote, “DONT WORRY IM WAITING FOR THE MUSIC TOO.” Now, that may have just been Wiz’s way of saying that he is interested in working with Cudi. However, with this latest tweet, the possibility of a collab seems more and more likely.

Fans went off in the comments, showing their excitement for what one user described as the “stoner anthem”. Everyone knows that Wiz Khalifa is basically the poster boy for weed. While Kid Cudi did frequently reference it in his past music, he has since said that he no longer smokes weed. Still, it’s likely that regardless of the subject matter, whatever these two come up with will serve as an anthem for weed smokers everywhere. What do you think about the possible collab? Sound off in the comments below!

Kid Cudi Previews His Memoir On Social Media

Kid Cudi is working on his memoir, as well as a new album. He promises that there will be new stories that he hasn’t told before. He also claims that the memoir and maybe the album might be published next year. However, he still has not confirmed a release window for them.

Last September, Kid Cudi announced that he was going to write a memoir focused on his “troubled boy” beginnings. At the time, he wrote on Twitter “Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.” On March 12, he announced that he had finished 4 or 5 chapters of the memoir. He talked about some of the unheard stories in it. These stories include: how he got interested in music and acting, as well as his upbringing. Cudi hopes the book will inspire people to do something great in their lives.

Kid Cudi’s Final Album

The memoir is not the only thing that Kid Cudi has in the works. He is also working on what might be his final album. Cudi is saying that it might be because it is the final album in his deal with Republic Records. He has also stated that he does not know what he is going to do after the deal is up.

At least he is promising that the album is going to be fire. He has already claimed that it might be “Album of the Year“. He is claiming that because he feels like it is his strongest work. Cudi is claiming that it is the most powerful project he has ever made and that the mixes are going to move his audience. Cudi is claiming that all of the songs are going to be new, but he will also make some of the songs into singles to hold his fans over until the album is done. He has announced that the first single from the album is coming in June.

Kid Cudi Hypes Up New Project, Says It’s The “Album Of The Year”

After hinting at retirement, Kid Cudi has been teasing his final album since last year. While the 39-year-old has held an acclaimed rap career since the release of “Day ‘n’ Nite” in 2007, he is bidding farewell to his experimental contributions to hip-hop with this upcoming project. Releasing later this year, Cudi has confirmed that the first track of this “powerful” album will drop on June 1st. On an Instagram live this Thursday (March 9), the Ohio native teased his ninth solo album further, noting how “y’all are going to fuck with this shit in such a major way and I’m so fucking excited.”

Although Cudi’s current work in the studio is fueled by his contractual obligations to Republic Records, he still has put his heart and soul into this final project. “I’ve never made a project this powerful before in my life. Sitting, listening to these mixes, I just know that this shit is going to move you,” he said on IG. Cudi enthusiastically added, “I just wanted to get on here and just let y’all know that I’m not gonna let y’all down. This is gonna be the album of the year right now, I’m not playing. This is not a fucking joke. Tell everybody you fucking know, ok?”

Cudi Describes His Final Studio Effort As “Powerful”

The mastermind behind “Mr. Rager” also took to Twitter on Thursday to drop some more hints about his upcoming work. “Im directing the video for my first single. Shits gonna get wild,” he tweeted. Cudi also hinted at a variety of other projects unfolding for him this year, with more time behind the camera coming up in the near future. “I also booked a really cool tv gig that im thoroughly excited about. Very big deal to me. The blessings are overflowin. News about that soon,” Cudi announced. In a different tweet, he added, “some movies comin this year as well. Think about 3.”

Though Cudi will be stepping away from the studio, he’ll be leaving behind a legacy that transcends music, film, and fashion. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the father-of-one disclosed how his retirement was to open up more time to spend with his daughter. As the release date for Cudi’s final album approaches, be sure to keep up with HNHH for the latest news on hip-hop.

HARD Summer’s 2023 Lineup Includes Special Guests 21 Savage And Kid Cudi And A Brand-New Venue

One of the biggest festivals of the year is HARD, a long-running festival that began in 2007 to highlight alternative and electronic acts and has been running ever since. This year, though, it’s making some big changes, moving to a new venue in Los Angeles and continuing to expand its horizons, adding hip-hop acts such as 21 Savage and Kid Cudi as special guests after bringing in Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Uzi Vert last year.

HARD Summer 2023 returns to Los Angeles, the festival’s birthplace, for the first time in 10 years on August 5 and 6, leaving behind the San Bernardino NOS Event Center for the Exposition Park area near downtown, which includes both the Coliseum and BMO Stadium (formerly the Banc Of California Stadium).

And although there are some other rap names on this year’s lineup, including Fat Joe and Ludacris, HARD’s keeping things mostly the same, with headliners Kaskade and Skrillex joining a lineup that includes standouts such as Four Tet, Diplo, Black Coffee, Dillon Francis, Oliver Tree, and more. There also appear to be some surprise artists on the bill who will presumably be announced as the festival nears. And don’t discount the possibility that Drake, who collaborated with Black Coffee on last year’s Honestly, Nevermind, might show up too. Never forget who started EDM in the first place.

At its inception in 2008, HARD Fest was held in Downtown Los Angeles at the Shrine Exposition Hall. Subsequently, L.A. is excited to welcome the festival back and has some big names on the bill to celebrate the occasion.

2013 was the last year HARD Summer was held in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. This year, the HARD Summer Music Festival will be held across several spaces in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and BMO Stadium. Overall, the iconic lineup includes a back-to-back set from Diplo and BLOND:ISH as well as a headlining set from Skrillex alongside Four Tet. With a nod to hip hop’s past and present, Fat Joe and Ludacris will take center stage. The “Man On The Moon” rapper Kid Cudi and Atlanta’s own 21 Savage will also headline the event.

HARD Summer’s Pink Stage is reserved for house and techno in 2023. Artists to make an appearance include the Grammy Award-winning Black Coffee alongside The Martinez Brothers.
