Kali Uchis Previews Spanish “Orquideas” Album With “Te Mata” Single: Stream
Any artists who plan on releasing new music before 2023 comes to a close have only a few New Music Fridays left to do so. Kali Uchis isn’t planning on giving us another album this year after dropping one ahead of her iconic Coachella performance in the spring, but the black-haired beauty did return with a new single today (October 20) to show us what’s in store for 2024. Uchis confirmed earlier this month that her Spanish album, Orquideas, is due out in early January. Both the previously released “Munekita” featuring el Alfa and JT and today’s “Te Mata” are on the tracklist, along with 12 other unnamed titles.
In the new Josh Crocker and Manuel Lara-produced single, Uchis lyricizes about life after a painful heartbreak. After some struggle, she manages to alchemize her pain into happiness – at the expense of her ex. “Well that’s already over, that’s not me anymore / I’m finally happy, my days are no longer gray / I finally realized that I deserve much more / and that kills you,” her lyrics, translated from Spanish by Uproxx, express.

Kali Uchis Gladly Plays The Role Of The Villain On Her New Single, ‘Te Mata’
Kali Uchis continues to be a certified hitmaker — in both English and Spanish. Tonight (October 20), Uchis has shared “Te Mata,” the latest single from her upcoming Spanish album, Orquídeas.
“Te Mata” features Uchis finding happiness after a breakup — to the chagrin of her ex. Still, if this makes her the villain in his story, she will happily bear that title — even if it kills him.
The song is entirely sung in Spanish, with Uchis on the chorus doubling down on living for herself, and herself only.
“Well that’s already over, that’s not me anymore / I’m finally happy, my days are no longer gray / I finally realized that I deserve much more / and that kills you,” sings Uchis.
Orquídeas marks Uchis’ fourth studio album, and her second within the course of a year. It will arrive after a promise she made to fans, that she would release one English album and one Spanish album within this year-long timeframe. Earlier this year, she released Red Moon In Venus, which contained the hit single, “I Wish You Roses.”
“Te Mata” follows Uchis’ hit single, “Muñekita,” which features fellow Latin artist, El Alfa, as well as City Girls rapper JT.
You can listen to “Te Mata” above.
Orquídeas is out 1/12/2024 via Geffen. Find more information here.

Kali Uchis Will Start 2024 With Her New Spanish Album, ‘Orquídeas’
Earlier this year, Kali Uchis teased that she had two albums in the works — one in English, and one in Spanish. She dropped her English-language third studio album Red Moon In Venus this past February. This coming January, she will release her fourth studio album, the Spanish-language Orquídeas.
Uchis revealed the album’s title and cover art today, after previously releasing the single “Muñekita” featuring El Alfa and JT of City Girls back in August. As of now, this is the only song she has released from the album. However, she has been teasing new music via social media over the course of the past few days.
When making the album, Uchis was inspired by her Colombian roots and upbringing.
“The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth,” Uchis said in a statement. “I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to re-define the way we look at Latinas in music.”

JT Is Playing The Girlboss In New Interview Magazine Photo Shoot
JT is no stranger to stunning. Recently she was the subject of a new story in Interview Magazine where she sat down with her friend and collaborator Kali Uchis. The pair teamed up with El Alfa earlier this year for the Latin-themed banger “Munekita.” The track has been a big hit racking up nearly 44 million streams since it was released in early August. It’s serving as the first single from an upcoming album Kali has that’s entirely in Spanish. The project doesn’t have an official release date yet but fans are hoping to hear it later this year.
Now, the pair are taking their collaborations to a new medium with a piece in Interview Magazine. Since JT is the subject of the piece she got her own photo shoot and decided to show off her business side. Using some corporate-looking furniture as a prop she shows off a series of highly stylized looks in Fendi outfits for the shoot. Celebs showed out in the comments with love coming from India Royale, her fellow City Girl Yung Miami, and even Kali Uchis herself. Check out the photo shoot and responses below.

JT Stuns In Sleek New Photo Shoot
This photo shoot isn’t the only time recently that JT has made waves with her social media presence. She sparked some major marriage rumors when she changed the last name on her account. It’s now listed as Jatavia Woods, with Woods being the legal last name of her long-time partner Lil Uzi Vert. They haven’t confirmed anything yet but the writing appears to be on the walls, and on her Instagram account.
JT was recently in another high-profile photo shoot this time promoting Beats by Dr. Dre. While fans aren’t universally in love with the photo shoot it certainly did its job at generating plenty of attention. Enough people expressed confusion over it that JT herself had to respond. Don Toliver And Kali Uchis Had Us Floating On “Drugs N Hella Melodies”
Don Toliver’s rise to fame for most listeners began back in 2018 with his appearance on a big-time album. In 2018, he joined Travis Scott for a song off his album ASTROWORLD. With all of the features being hidden, some artists were hard to discern on first listen and Don was one of them. He captured listeners with his energetic and unique voice on “CAN’T SAY,” and the rest is history from there.
He went on to drop his debut album Heaven Or Hell in 2020 to much acclaim. Don showed he could command an album by himself and he quickly followed it up a year later. That brings us to the record of discussion today, Life Of A DON. This album just turned two and we wanted to celebrate its release with arguably the most popular and waviest song, “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” featuring Kali Uchis.

Relisten To “Drugs N Hella Melodies” By Don Toliver And Kali Uchis
This was the second lead single for L.O.A.D coming after the release of “What You Need.” The collaboration makes perfect sense seeing how the two have been dating for two years now. But, also, from a musical perspective, both of their voices create a harmonious symphony. The beat, partially provided by DJ Dahi, is very melodic, woozy, and transcendent. The song definitely lives up to its name.
What were your initial thoughts on “Drugs N Hella Melodies” from Don Toliver and Kali Uchis? Was this your favorite song on the first listen of Life Of A DON? Is this the best project he has ever put out? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news on Don Toliver, as well as all of the best throwback releases.

S*x full of adrenaline
This p***y put you right to sleep just like a sedative
Not to sound conceited, I’m not one to brag
But I’m the girl you needed that you never had
Some people only see the negative
Some people find a way to see the good in everything
