Lil Dicky Was Humiliated By Chris Brown, John Wall, And Deontay Wilder At A Celebrity Basketball Game, And The Story Is Hilarious

Lil Dicky joined Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce for this week’s episode of New Heights, and the episode was packed with Lil Dicky’s signature self-deprecating charm. Around the 40-minute mark, Jason asked Lil Dicky whether he’d had a “welcome to the industry” moment.

“Another story I’ve never told that just came into my head that’s perfect for this moment,” Lil Dicky said. The Dave mastermind then took the audience back to the 2015 BET Experience Sprite Celebrity Basketball Game. Back then, Lil Dicky still had imposter syndrome and did not feel like he belonged on the same roster as Floyd Mayweather, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, and John Wall.

“I don’t know how I got in the game to the point where I actually put a lot of stock and import in this game,” he explained. “I got there an hour early to warm up because I literally thought a way that I could get ahead in this industry faster will be, like, scoring 30 points in this game.”

Instead, Lil Dicky was on the bench, and while Chris Brown called Lil Dicky “a dope rapper” pre-game, he also rained on Lil Dicky’s parade. John Wall was the team’s coach and eventually told Dicky he could go in as a substitute for Brown.

“I walk up to Chris, and I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m in for you,’” Lil Dicky said. “And he goes, ‘I’m not coming out.’ Then, there’s 11 guys on the court. Everyone is matched up. I’m clearly the odd man. I look to John Wall, like, ‘Coach!’ And John Wall brings me back over. [The] first thing I say is, like, ‘John, get a grip and have some authority on your team.’ It’s humiliating to send me out there and then pull me back in. It’s so emasculating.”

Once Lil Dicky finally got in the game, he was rewarded by getting “fouled so hard by Deontay Wilder — at the time, heavyweight champion of the world.” He concluded, “I get up. I missed two free throws, and then I played one more meaningless minute. I moved to the end of the bench and just chose not to even make myself available for the rest of the game.”

On the most recent episode of The OGs Podcast hosted by Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, former NBA star John Wall revealed how he struggled with his mental health and even put a gun to his own head on two separate occasions.

Wall said that after the passing of his mother in 2019, the depth and severity of his struggles with mental health became so acute that he sought help at his lowest points.

The loss of his grandmother and a year-long recovery from surgery for a ruptured Achilles made Wall’s struggles even more difficult. Despite his challenges, Wall found motivation in his two sons, realizing that taking himself away from them would mean failing them. He was adamant about the significance of seeking help, especially for Black men, encouraging anyone struggling to reach out for support.

John Wall Traded Back To The Rockets: Details

Just a few months ago, John Wall was finding himself with some issues within the Houston Rockets organization. Overall, it was clear that he didn’t really want to be there. The team was going with a much younger group of players, and at the end of the day, Wall got the short end. In the media, Wall was very adamant that his time with the Rockets was “beyond trash.” Furthermore, he noted that he would never want to play for an organization like that again.

In the off-season, Wall was able to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. This made him the starting point guard for players like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. However, Wall hasn’t been playing all that well. Subsequently, the Los Angeles Clippers have been looking for a way to get rid of Wall. There has been speculation that he would either be traded or be bought out entirely. Well, today is the trade deadline and it seems like the Clippers have found a trade suitor.

John Wall Back To Houston

Unfortunately, for John Wall, that trade suitor just so happens to be the Houston Rockets. This trade involves three teams, including the Clippers, the Rockets, and the Memphis Grizzlies. This was a deal that they had been looking to make for a while, and while they aren’t getting a huge return for John Wall, they can now go out and pursue a new point guard. There have been numerous reports suggesting that they would go after Russell Westbrook. Russ is currently on the Jazz, although they would rather just buy out his contract. Having said that, Westbrook could prove to be a great fit for that team.

Overall, this is a very sad situation for Wall whose future is now up in the air. He certainly won’t be happy to find himself back in Houston. Overall, it remains to be seen what he is going to do next. Hopefully, Wall finds a new NBA home that isn’t Houston, sooner rather than later. Let us know what you think about this trade, down in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for all the latest news and updates from around the sports world.

John Wall Admits His Time With Rockets Was “Beyond Trash”

John Wall says that his time with the Houston Rockets was “beyond trash.” Wall reflected on the two-year stretch he spent with the team during an appearance on the Tidal League podcast.

Wall joined the team in December 2020 following a trade from the Washington Wizards. Upon arriving, he was surprised to learn James Harden was already on his way out.

Wall explained: “I’m going there thinking James is gonna be there once I get traded, but he already wants out. When I landed, I’m like, ‘What’s up? I’m about to land. Gotta go do my conference s–t.’ He’s like, ‘Well I’m on my way to Atlanta to go to Lil Baby’s birthday.’ The f–k? He talking about, ‘You wanna get on the jet with me?’ B—h, I just got traded here. I can’t f–k up. I’ve got to be on good terms. I don’t know how the owner is, how the GM is. I don’t know nothing.”

The Rockets ended up trading Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in January 2021. After Wall spent just a few games with Harden, the Rockets went on to finish the season with the league-worst record at 17-55.

“We were trying to lose on purpose, tanking,” Wall said.

The Rockets eventually agreed to a $41 million buyout of Wall’s deal in June 2022.

Wall currently plays with the Los Angeles Clippers, although rumors have been circulating that the team is open to moving him before the trade deadline.
