Joe Budden Reveals Why He Isn’t Covering Jay-Z Allegations On His Podcast This Week

The coverage of Jay-Z’s rape allegation has been nonstop the subplots keep on rolling in. Every publication you could possibly imagine is reporting on it, but one really. That would be The Joe Budden Podcast. So far, only one new episode has been uploaded in the last three days, with next one hitting on Wednesday. In that latest entry, the crew got nowhere near the story, so what gives? Well, their host and founder himself recently sent out a tweet to address the noise. “No need for think pieces guys, I’m dealing with a personal family matter, pls allow me to do so personally. Super grateful to each member of the crew for holding it down in my absence, thank you.🙏🏾

Thankfully, social media users were respectful to his wishes and sending positive thoughts. “They did a great job! Prayers up!” one X user writes. “Take your time, Joe.💯” another adds. We too are wishing Joe Budden and his family the best during this time, and we hope that whatever is happening isn’t too dire. While it sounds like it’s been a wild week for Mr. Budden, the same can be said for Jay-Z.

Joe Budden Is Dealing With A Personal Matter

As it stands, him and his lawyer, Alex Spiro, are making some serious moves to get this case wiped. In the last 48 hours since the rape allegations news began to circulate, Spiro, is going at Tony Buzbee and this alleged victim. His most recent offensive play has been to accuse the Houston lawyer of coercing this Jane Doe to bringing Diddy into this lawsuit.

“After several outreaches, the woman again spoke with members of the Buzbee firm, who she felt were pressing her to make allegations,” Spiro wrote to Judge Analisa Torres. “When the woman declined to adopt the version of events proposed by members of the Buzbee firm, she was summarily dropped as a client. Though the woman provided her identity to Ms. [Mari] Henderson, she wishes to remain unnamed at this time for fear of retaliation by the Buzbee firm.”

Joe Budden Reveals Why Planned Collabs With Drake Never Happened

Joe Budden and Drake have one of the strangest dynamics in hip hop. Drake grew up idolizing Budden, and the latter laid the groundwork for Drake’s emotional style. Budden has stepped back from the game, of course, and become a podcaster who is regularly cited as one of the 6 God’s biggest critics. The pair have repeatedly dissed each other over the years, through social media and song. And yet, they nearly collaborated. Twice. Joe Budden dropped this shocking information during a recent episode of his show.

Budden was discussing the J Cole podcast Inevitable, and the revelation that Drake was asked to give Cole a hit for his debut album. This sparked a discussion about the impact of a Drake feature, and then Budden told his co-hosts that he almost recorded with the 6 God on two separate occasions. The first time was in 2006, when Drizzy was still putting out mixtapes. Things failed to come together, and then suddenly, Drake was the biggest star in hip hop. Joe Budden claimed that he linked up with Drake one other time, and discussed teaming up for a song.

Joe Budden Wanted Drake To Get In His Rap Bag

Budden alleges that Drake wanted to give him a song with an R&B hook, but the former rejected it. He told his podcast co-hosts that he did not want that kind of song. “That’s not the type of record I wanted to make with him,” Budden explained. “I wanted him to tap into his rap bag. I wasn’t chasing hits at that point.” The former rapper claimed that Drake was actually the one who instigated plans for a collab, and promised to get a verse to Budden. “All that phony n**ga sh*t,” Budden claimed. “[It] never came.” Joe Budden joked that Drizzy did him the same he did J Cole.

One of Budden’s co-hosts questioned whether Drake believes the podcaster is more critical of him because he didn’t get the feature he was promised. Budden admitted that it was a possibility, but he ultimately felt like the failed song attempts were water under the bridge. He did admit, looking back, that it was foolish of him to turn down a Drake hook at a time when everything the 6 God touched turned into a radio hit. Another layer of the Drake and Joe Budden dynamic, peeled back.

Joe Budden Surprisingly Comes To Drake’s Defense After Co-Host Says He Couldn’t Do A Stadium Tour

Just like the summer months, Kendrick Lamar is dominating the hip-hop world. Since the out-of-nowhere release of GNX almost two full weeks ago, he’s been the hot topic once again. Ironically, Drake is also back in the mix, but not for the music he’s putting out. Instead, this “round two” has become The Boy trying to get a legal win over “Not Like Us” while K. Dot is running the charts. Now, he’s just revealed as of yesterday that he’s going on a stadium tour with SZA for the project. The Grand National Tour will kick off in mid-April and run through mid-June. It’s poised to be one of, if not the biggest tour, hip-hop or not.

Major cities throughout the 21 dates, the former TDE label mates will be hitting some legendary venues. Soldier Field in Chicago, AT&T Stadium in Dallas, and the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and the Rogers Centre in Toronto are just a few. It’s going to be a massive undertaking, but many feel this will go on to be a major success. The Joe Budden Podcast crew is a group of people that are of that mindset too. In fact, they think Lamar is one of the few rappers who could pull a stadium tour off.

Joe Budden Supporting Drake!? No Way

It became a debate on the show of who else could, with the panel rattling off just a select few. Travis Scott, Eminem, and Kanye West were named. However, they did mention how Rihanna was a part of Em’s trek. One name that was shockingly left off this list, though, was Drake. One of the co-hosts actually feels that he’s incapable of doing so, despite the fact that he’s proven he can pack stadiums in the past. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is a prime example.

But overall, saying an artist could and could not do a stadium tour is a projection. Which is why someone came to Drake’s defense, and if you read the title of this article, you know who it is. But yes, Joe Budden actually was the one to pump the brakes on discounting what The Boy could with this touring format. He feels that they need to be sticking to the facts and that he hasn’t done one yet, so no one knows for sure that he couldn’t.

Joe Budden Says He’d Never Forgive Future If He Was Drake

Joe Budden discussed Drake’s relationship with Future during the latest episode of his podcast, admitting that if he were in the Toronto rapper’s shoes, he’d never forgive Future for siding with Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin in their recent feud with him. Budden explained that while he’d love to hear more collaborations between the two, he’s fine with them never repairing their relationship.

“I’m not gonna lie to y’all. If I’m Drake, it’s up for life. Forever and ever and ever. I’m never working with none of you. I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” Budden said of Drake and Future. From there, he agreed that’s he’s cool with the two never working together because they’ve already made enough great music. “As a selfish fan, I’m cool either way,” he said.

Future and Metro Boomin famously hosted Kendrick Lamar’s initial verse on “Like That,” earlier this year, which set off the viral beef with Drake. On the track, he viciously targeted both Drake and J. Cole. In the ensuing months, Drake and Lamar traded numerous diss tracks, which ended in most fans declaring Lamar the victor. More recently, Young Thug used his platform on social media to advocate for the two to make amends and get back in the studio. Future reshared the post on X (formerly Twitter).

Joe Budden Debates Whether Kendrick Lamar’s Lil Wayne Lyric Counts As A Diss

Joe Budden discussed Kendrick Lamar’s new album, GNX, on the latest episode of his podcast. In doing so, he and his co-hosts brought up the “Not Like Us” rapper appearing to diss Lil Wayne over their ongoing feud regarding the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

To start, the group debated whether the lyrics referencing Wayne constitute a “diss.” On the track, “wacced out murals,” Lamar raps: “I used to bump ‘Tha Carter 3’, I held my Rollie chain proud. Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down… Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me, all these n****s agitated I’m just glad it’s on they faces.” Budden didn’t feel the lyrics quite count as dissing Wayne.

Wayne has since responded to the lyric on X (formerly Twitter), warning that he doesn’t want a feud. “Man wtf I do?!” he wrote. “I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.” Wayne previously expressed his disappointment that the NFL chose Lamar to headline the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show instead of him.

Joe Budden Discusses Kendrick Lamar & Lil Wayne

From there, the Joe Budden Podcast co-hosts discussed where Lamar goes from here, addressing rumors that Lamar has a bigger album in store and GNX is just the start. Check out Joe Budden’s full response to Kendrick Lamar addressing Lil Wayne on the album below.

Joe Budden’s Co-Host Goes After Lil Wayne For Acting “Entitled” About The Super Bowl Halftime Show

Joe Budden and his podcast co-hosts discussed the legitimacy of Lil Wayne’s grievances with the NFL after the rapper claimed to have the headlining spot at the Super Bowl Halftime Show “ripped” from him during his appearance at Lil WeezyAna Fest 2024. Despite the next Super Bowl taking place in Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans, Kendrick Lamar will be performing at the event.

“I don’t like when he says this was snatched from me. I don’t like that… We never saw anything where they said you had the Super Bowl. So, what is snatched from you? It was assumed by you and a lot of your fans and a lot of the public,” Ice said on the show. “… That’s not snatched away. That’s entitlement.”

From there, Budden countered that he believes Wayne’s assumption must be based on something behind the scenes. “I think he definitely spoke to Hov or somebody on that board that’s in charge of that, I think they may have told him– laid out a guideline of things that the person they pick has to accomplish and do. I think he might’ve went about trying to check some of the things off that list and maybe he didn’t like how he found out the news that Kendrick was performing.”

Check out The Joe Budden Podcast’s full discussion about Lil Wayne and the Super Bowl Halftime Show below. As for Wayne’s initial comments, he said on stage at the festival: “I told myself I wanna be on stage at the Super Bowl in front of my mom and I worked my a** off to get that position. It was ripped away from me but this moment right here… they can’t take this away from me.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Joe Budden on HotNewHipHop.

DJ Akademiks Questions The Strength Of Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Against Him While Debating Joe Budden

DJ Akademiks reacted to Kendrick Lamar mentioning him on his Drake diss track, “6:16 in LA,” during a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast. As the group listened to the song, Lamar rapped: “Yeah, somebody’s lyin’, I can see the vibes on Ak’ / Even he lookin’ compromised, let’s peel the layers back.” It resulted in everybody turning their heads to the livestreamer.

“Don’t look at me when that sh*t comes on,” DJ Akademiks joked. “Right before that line, I felt like the first half– because even when I was playing it off his Instagram, I played it like two minutes after he uploaded it, I was like, ‘This isn’t getting at Drake.’ It felt like it was something older that was already cooked up and right at that line, when he says something about the carcass and industry, even the vocal tone changes, and it feels like, ‘Now, I’m getting to the sh*t I wanna get to.’”

Earlier in the show, they discussed Lamar’s lyrical prowess, at which time Akademiks praised him. “I don’t want to be rap beefing with no n**a who talking about sh*t like that,” he joked. The group then debated the importance of understanding what an artist is saying in their lyrics. In response to the clip, users on X (formerly Twitter) had mixed opinions. “The fact you have to look it up makes it MORE fire. Bc it does what hip hop has ALWAYS done throughout history. Teach inform and acknowledge,” one user wrote. Another countered: “Kendrick got idiots thinking they’re intellectuals listening to him.”

Joe Budden Refuses To Back Down During Caitlin Clark Vs. Angel Reese Debate

Joe Budden is someone who has never shied away from inserting himself into some pretty massive debates. Overall, Budden has a podcast, so talking is kind of his whole job at this point. With that in mind, fans always expect him to be unfiltered with his thoughts on a particular subject. Most recently, Budden gave his opinion on none other than Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese of the WNBA. Both of these players are rivals and are currently competing for Rookie of the Year.

While Reese was a bit better than Clark early in the season, Clark has proven to be the better overall player. She is now leading the ROTY race, and fans are excited to see her prove herself in the postseason as the Indiana Fever continues to win games. Meanwhile, on the latest episode of his podcast, Budden dove into the Clark and Reese debate. As you can see below, he believes it is no context, and that Clark is Jordan, while Reese is Rodman.

Joe Budden Keeps It Honest

“I’m telling y’all, and I’m not trying to cause a kerfuffle, Caitlin Clark is a hell of a lot better than Angel Reese,” Budden explained. “Nobody ever said Ben Wallace could give Michael Jordan a run for his money. And [Reese] is grabbing all the boards in the world — hey, the double-double princess — and she got a podcast now, and she got a Reese’s Pieces deal. I’m telling y’all that Caitlin Clark, if we’re talking about a basketball… she has been on an absolute warpath since y’all left her off the Olympics. And I’m not just gonna ignore it because she’s white. She is smoking you b****** out there.”

Let us know what you think of Joe’s comments, down below. Do you agree that Caitlin Clark has been better than Angel Reese so far this year? Do you believe that it is inevitable that Clark will end up winning rookie of the year? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Drake Astoundingly Receives Praise From Joe Budden In Shocking Turn Of Events

Yesterday, there was a potential theory that DJ Akademiks was entertaining in regard to Drake dropping music at a certain time. The hip-hop pundit recalled past conversations with Joe Budden about how the latter felt that Drake was purposely dropping tracks after the podcaster would record his episodes, that way he would react to them late. Budden recognized this pattern during the heat of the Kendrick Lamar beef, and at first, Akademiks was quick to dismiss it. However, after letting it marinate and noticing when Drake put out his most recent 100gigs.org three-pack, he’s now fully of that same belief.

In our report, we noted that we were curious to see what Joe Budden would have to say, given what we just outlined. Would he address this trend he feels is real? Was he going to rip the songs to shreds even more so because of that? Well, with the second weekly episode of The Joe Budden Podcast now up today, according to a tweet from joebuddenclips, we have our answer.

Joe Budden Says This Is His Favorite Three-Pack From Drake

In a major plot twist, the controversial host actually had the complete opposite reaction to “Supersoak (SOD)”, “No Face”, and “Circadian Rhythm”. While reacting to the former of the trio, Budden was visibly enjoying the track and saying that this three-pack is his favorite out of the two. Later into the panel’s conversation, he says that he also thinks that “he’s doing a decent job now in post battle recovery”. However, in that same breath, Budden just wants Drake to be with his team and his team only and just go to work on slowly returning to form. Additionally, he’s not really hoping that Drake and Kendrick start “game 2”, but he’s going to have a “front-row seat” if it does go down to no one’s surprise.

What are your thoughts on Joe Budden giving Drake praise for his newest trio of tracks? Do you think he’s trying get in Drizzy’s good graces, why or why not? What do foresee happening next between The Boy and Kendrick Lamar? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Drake and Joe Budden. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
