Jay Worthy & DJ.Fresh Reunite For “Part 2” Of “The Tonite Show” Six Years Later

It’s been the West Coast’s year in 2024 thanks in part to Kendrick Lamar. But everyone else has been contributing heavily and with quality we may add. One of the steadiest in the underground from California, Jay Worthy, has been one of them ones this year, and he’s keeping his momentum going with The Tonite Show Part 2. The title may be familiar to some and that’s because this is the other half to the inaugural 2018 tape, The Tonite Show with Jay Worthy. That was a three-way collaborative effort between Jay, its producer, DJ.Fresh, and fellow MC, Mitchy Slick.

This marks the former’s fourth project of the year, with his 2024 featuring Affiliated 2, Magic Hour, and Time After Time. Every single tape has been a joint release, showcasing just how versatile Jay is. He you match him with just about anyone and he’s going to make something great happen. The Tonite Show Part 2 is 10 tracks and just 28 and a half minutes, so it’s not overstaying it’s welcome. On the first entry in this series, Fresh’s beat selection was bouncier and fit more for the summer. Things are a little different here, as the instrumentals feel more lowkey and subdued. It’s got some fans loving and others questioning the directional change as of now, so we want to hear what you have to say. Check out Jay and Fresh’s latest body of work, and then drop your thoughts in the comments.

Jay Worthy & MadeInTYO Release First Joint Album, “Time After Time”

Rapper Jay Worthy and singer MadeInTYO came together to release a new joint album. Time After Time is their first collaborative effort. It comes as Jay Worthy’s third album of 2024, and MadeInTYO’s second. The album is in line with the music Worthy typically makes, with sparse, vibe-heavy production. For those who are only familiar with MadeInTYO for his viral track “Uber Everywhere,” it may be a surprise to hear him rap over production like this. However, he has embraced the sound in recent years and has found a pocket that works for him. The two have some real chemistry on this album, and keep it just brief enough for fans to want to hear another release from the two in the future.

As far as the content of the album is concerned, Jay Worthy and MadeinTYO find themselves waxing poetic about street life, boasting about their success, and showing appreciation for their lives. The album works in contrast to Worthy’s previous release Magic Hour, an out-and-out G-Funk album. However, it is not dissimilar to other music in his discography, particularly his releases with Sean House as part of LNDN DRGS. MadeInTYO’s TYO 808, an album he produced himself and released earlier this year, leaned closer to the sound of their joint release. A spacy, woozy, almost cloud rap-like approach. Worthy is a prolific artist, and this is the latest in what has been a highly successful year for the Canadian rapper. If you listen to this and want to hear more MadeinTYO production, we’d recommend Ransom’s SMOKE & MIRRORS EP. Stream this new release now.

Jay Worthy & MadeinTYO Get Wavy & Woozy On New Single “Nino”: Stream

Jay Worthy and MadeinTYO have shared another taste of their upcoming EP, which they both rap on and which TYO produced. After the single “Master Delux,” they returned with a gorgeous, luxurious, and focused new offering, “Nino.” It’s a short minute-and-a-half, but it packs in plenty of compelling lyricism and captivating instrumental moments. Most importantly, it really values quality over quantity, as the loop and sonic pallet here is so engrossing that it leaves you wanting more.

As far as the content, Jay Worthy and MadeinTYO mostly keep things street, boastful, and appreciative. It’s certainly a fitting approach for this production, which is bolstered by woodwinds, chimes, strings, and some subtle hand percussion. It’s a bit of a contrast to Jay’s recent G-funk-centric Magic Hour, whereas the variety found in Made’s TYO 808 hinted toward this approach along with many other styles. All of that’s to say that there are plenty of amazing signs pointing to this EP’s potential greatness, so we’re very excited to spin it whenever it drops.

Elsewhere, if you’re looking for more MadeinTYO production, we’d recommend you check out Ransom’s SMOKE & MIRRORS EP. If you haven’t heard his and Jay Worthy’s “Nino” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check in out on YouTube below. Down there, you can also find some standout bars as well as the comments section for you to leave your thoughts on the record. As always, check back in with HNHH for more killer hip-hop drops around the clock.

Jay Worthy & MadeinTYO Preview Their Upcoming EP With “Master Delux”

Jay Worthy and MadeinTYO have a joint effort on the way soon and they are kicking things off with “Master Delux”. This is the lead single from an upcoming EP that you wouldn’t know about if not for some slightly deeper digging. The underground California MC announced that “Master Delux” was out yesterday on his Instagram, and in the comments was the Hawaiian-born multi-hyphenate spilling some tea. “I’m ready for this EP, thanks for letting me rap & make the beats 🙏🏾😤✔”. If you haven’t been keeping up with MadeinTYO as of late, you may want to. If his “Uber Everywhere” era was something that you weren’t rocking with because it was too mainstream, his recent material might be for you.

He’s been on quite the torrent stretch in terms of producing some jazzier and drum-less beats for some of the underground’s best. For example, just over a month ago, MadeinTYO connected with New York’s Ransom for a mini three-track EP, SMOKE & MIRRORS. While obviously robust in terms of length, the minimalist instrumentals from MadeinTYO made room for some excellent performances from Ransom. Overall, we are saying that he can bring out some quality material from other artists. With Jay Worthy being on a solid run himself, it makes sense that these two are linking up. We don’t have any other information in regard to when their collaborative EP will drop, nor the title, tracklist, and cover art. What we can pretty safely say though is that Jay and TYO will deliver tenfold together. The production on “Master Delux” is almost nonexistent. However, it’s really beautiful and delicate on the ears. They also display chemistry on the mic, making for a complete listen.

Jay Worthy & DāM FunK Celebrate The West Coast With Bouncy G-Funk Cuts On “Magic Hour”

“MAGIC HOUR OUT NOW THIS WAS 7 YEARS IN THE MAKING HAPPY TO FINALLY SHARE THIS WITH THE WORLD THIS FOR ALL THE REAL HEADS WHO KNOW WHATS UP FUNK DONT QUIT 👌🏽”. It is clear that Jay Worthy is ecstatic to have Magic Hour out after all of his hard work. This collaboration album with longtime producer from Cali, DāM FunK, is led by three singles, all of which came out this year. Jay put out “Westside” with DRAM in late April, “105 West” with a whole host of guests (Ty Dolla $ign, Channel Tres, A-Trak, and DJ Quik), and then “Rich Today”. Each track is a direct and worthy homage to the G-Funk sound.

That seems to be what Jay Worthy wanted to accomplish with DāM FunK on Magic Hour. Even though this project was supposedly conceived all these years ago, it could not have come at a better time. With how successful the entire West Coast scene has been in 2024, releasing an album celebrating one of the region’s most iconic soundscapes was a great idea. Jay has certainly helped contribute heavily to this achievement, now dropping his second project (Affiliated 2), as well as helping Kendrick Lamar with the “Not Like Us” music video.

As for Magic Hour, DāM FunK brings so many variations of instrumentals and every one of them is incredibly smooth and chill. No matter where you are in the world, this project will make you feel like you are cruising down the roads of California with the top down during the summer. The guest performers, who range from Honda Carter, Barney Bones, Polyester the Saint and more, all bring a sense of aura to Jay’s lax rapping. Overall, Magic Hour is one of the best tapes to check out right now.

Jay Worthy Builds On His Momentum With Album Single “105 West” Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Channel Tres & More

Jay Worthy is always going to be a popular voice in the underground hip-hop scene, especially on the West Coast. However, after popping out to The Pop Out: Ken and Friends a couple of days ago, this could be one of the most vital turning points in his career. On top of that, if Kendrick Lamar is indeed shooting a music video for “Not Like Us” in Compton, that would be the cherry on top. Because of all of this, he has chance to break into the mainstream, that is of course if he wants to. He is already extremely successful in his lane and does not absolutely need some viral moment to propel his career. In that same breath though, Jay Worthy is definitely capitalizing on this period, dropping a new single “105 West”.

This is a massive collaboration track, as it features DaM-FunK, A-Trak, Ty Dolla $ign, Channel Tres, and DJ Quik. On “105 West”, Jay Worthy and the crew bring the ultimate California summer vibes, as the production from DaM-FunK is playing heavy on the synth-funk sound. Everyone delivers great and energizing performances, especially Ty Dolla $ign, as he interpolates the melody from the chorus on Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice”. On top of this being a great track on its own, it will soon find a home on an upcoming Jay and DaM-FunK album. According to Stereogum, Magic Hour will hit streaming platforms sometime next month. If “105 West” has shown us anything, it is that this project will be one to remember for the year and perhaps beyond. The West Coast notches another W for the books.

Kamaiyah Reveals Release Date For New Album “Figuring Out My Emotions”

Kamaiyah isn’t here to be complacent. The Oakland rapper drops multiple times a year because she wants to hone her craft and ensure that fans are up to date with her life. It’s worked wonders. She’s amassed a loyal fanbase over the last decade, and her last album, Another Summer Night, earned positive reviews from critics. Kamaiyah looks to keep the winning streak going strong with her new album, Figuring Out My Emotions.

Figuring Out My Emotions is a more intimate collection of songs than its predecessor, as the title might suggest. The album is executive produced by Kamaiyah, and the lead single, “No Pressure,” delves into more serious subject matter while maintaining a slick, Bay Area sound. The rapper confirmed the rest of the album will drop on Friday, May 17. She also dropped off the artwork and tracklist. The former is right in line with the chilled-out vibe of the aforementioned single. Kamaiyah lays down on a dock near a body of water. No text or logos. Just an artist and the ocean.

Kamaiyah’s New Album Drops On May 17

The tracklist is impressively brief. Another Summer Night was a sprawling album with 17 songs, but Figuring Out My Emotions comes in at a tight eight. There are no listed features on the album. That being said, rap artists like to hide their features until the fans get a chance to listen. Kamaiyah usually reserves a spot for West Coast peers like 03 Greedo or Jay Worthy (both of whom appeared on Another Summer Night).

Kamaiyah explained her approach to dropping during a recent interview with KQED. “It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f*cking year anymore,” she asserted. “People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more sh*t in their face. It’s got to be organic.”

Figuring Out My Emotions tracklist:

  1. Be Mine
  2. Can’t Lose
  3. DND
  4. Link Wit Me
  5. One & Only
  6. No Pressure
  7. Success
  8. Winter Blues

Jay Worthy Goes Off On “Christopher Walken” Featuring Jake One

Canadian rapper Jay Worthy has been a busy man in 2023. In these 11 months, he has dropped two full-length albums and tons of singles. In addition, he even landed on a few big-time records as well. The first tape he was a part of was actually a collaborative record that came out at the end of May. He and another underground legend, Roc Marciano went toe-to-toe on their tight 12-track tape, Nothing Bigger Than The Program. It would only take him another five months to release his second team album.

THE AM3RICAN DREAM threw another mic into the mix. West coast femcee, Kamaiyah, and one of the true producing pioneers, Harry Fraud, helped out Jay. That trio provided some lyrically heavy bangers such as one of the headlining singles, “9AM.” Sticky flows and ear-grabbing production can be found all over Jay’s last LP. Even with all of the success he has had, he wants to keep it going.

Listen To “Christopher Walken” By Jay Worthy And Jake One

Honestly, we are here for it, because this newest track is another hit. Unfortunately, “Christopher Walken” is a really short stay. It only lasts for a little under two minutes. However, the lyrics and beat will keep you coming back to replay it. While there is no official announcement yet, with Jay’s work ethic, we will not be surprised if he and Jake One, the producer of the song, come out with a full tape soon.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single from Jay Worthy and Jake One, “Christopher Walken?” Is this their best collaboration to date? Is Jay one of the best lyricists in the game right now? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Jay Worthy Links With Kamaiyah And Producer Harry Fraud For “THE AM3RICAN DREAM”

Jay Worthy, Kamaiyah, and Harry Fraud are back once again, but this time it is for something bigger. That something is the collaborative album that sees all three of them combine their talents effortlessly. The tape, THE AM3RICAN DREAM, features nine tracks, including production all from Harry Fraud. All three headlining artists are not alone on this journey, though.

There is plenty of extra star power throughout the tracklist. You will see appearances from Guapdad 4000, Buddy, Max B, Ty Dolla $ign, DRAM, and more. Most of the beats here are very boom-bap-heavy and are buttery smooth. It contrasts well with Worthy and Kamaiyah’s sometimes grimy lyrics. Before this project’s release, we only had one single in promotion for it.

That is the first cut on the record, “9AM.” Worthy and Kamaiyah are really good on this one in particular. Jay’s chorus is really catchy and easy to rap along to. For the Vancouver to Cali product, this follows up his previous tape, Nothing Bigger Than The Program. This is the first record for Kamaiyah in over a year. Give it a listen up above.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new collaboration album from Jay Worthy, Kamaiyah, and Harry Fraud, THE AM3RICAN DREAM? Is this one of the best underground rap albums of the year?
