Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet Officially File for Divorce

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet Officially File for Divorce

After having been separated for over a year, Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are finally officially ending their marriage. Momoa, 44, and Boney, 56, who married in October of 2017 after dating for about a decade, cited “irreconcilable differences” in court paperwork filed on January 5 by Bonet. Bonet lists their date of separation as October 7, 2020.

Boney filed for joint legal and physical custody and neither is asking the other for spousal support. The couple’s shared asset distribution has also been “confirmed and agreed between the parties.”

The couple first announced that they were separating almost two years ago, with an announcement on Momoa’s Instagram that stated “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times…A revolution is unfolding ~ and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so~ We share our family news: That we are parting ways in marriage.” They also stated, “We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ but so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.” (The post has since been deleted.)

The couple shares 16-year-old daughter Lola and 15-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf. Bonet is also the mother of Zoe Kravitz from her prior relationship with Lenny Kravitz. In 2022, even after announcing their separation, Momoa attended Zoe’s premiere of “The Batman” with Lola and Nakoa, stating that they are all “still a family.”

The Men Of ‘SNL,’ Along With Jason Momoa, Can’t Help But Think About The Roman Empire, Much To The Ladies’ Chagrin

Over the past few months, several women have taken to TikTok, noting that men frequently think about the Roman empire. This has since spawned memes with people describing fixations of their own as their personal “Roman empire.” Tonight (November 18), in a hilarious music video sketch on Saturday Night Live, the men of the cast doubled down on their fascination with this age.

The video opens with the fictional wives of guest host Jason Momoa, Mikey Day, and Kenan Thompson — played respectively by Ego Nwodim, Chloe Troast, and Punkie Johnson — singing of concerns that their husbands are fantasizing about other women. Momoa then delivers a hilarious rap, ensuring that there’s not lust for other women, but rather, a desire to return to the age of the Roman empire.

As the men continue to rap about how simple of a time the age of the Roman empire must’ve been, Nwodim expresses concern that the fascination is passing along to hers and Momoa’s fictional son.

But the son expresses that he is more interested in dinosaurs, which, like the Roman empire, are in the ground.

The ladies then suggest the men take up other interests — like astrology.

Jason Momoa’s 7 Biggest Movies

Since his debut appearance on Baywatch: Hawaii in 1999, Jason Momoa has kept fans glued to his shows and movies. Today, he’s known for his larger-than-life, muscly characters. However, his acting skills have become more polished with time. This has resulted in his characters achieving instant likability, whether heroes or villains. Between his starring role in Fast X and multiple appearances as Aquaman, Jason Momoa is truly engrossing in movies. As a result, many projects he has starred in have made big bank at the box office. However, these seven movies have outperformed the rest.

7. Conan The Barbarian (2011)

Playing Conan was one of Jason Momoa’s last appearances before he took the world by storm with his appearance on Game of Thrones. The action-fantasy film follows Conan the Cimmerian warrior’s quest for vengeance against a corrupt warlord. Things become even more complicated when the warlord begins the search for an important artifact. This proves a threat as the artifact will empower him to raise the dead and achieve immortality.

Unfortunately, the remake of the 1982 original film was not greatly received by critics and the audience. Despite Momoa’s great acting, the film was unfavorably compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic turn three decades earlier. Momoa eventually shared with British GQ that some movies are out of the actor’s hands, and this was one of them. “It’s one of the best experiences I had and it [was] taken over and turned into a big pile of sh*t,” he said. Conan The Barbarian would eventually gross a worldwide total of over $60 million at the box office.

6. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)

Jason Momoa hasn’t lent his voice to many movies yet, but a career in voice acting wouldn’t be lost on him. He showed off great versatility voicing Aquaman in The LEGO Movie 2. The movie follows Emmet Brickowski and his girlfriend, Lucy. Together, the pair tear through LEGO City to protect it from invading Lego Duplo aliens. Chris Pratt voices Brickowski, while Elizabeth Banks voices his girlfriend. The fourth movie in the LEGO animated-comedy series also included multiple celebrity superhero cameos. However, Momoa’s appearance, although brief, proved to be a fan-favorite scene stealer.  He brought an interesting blend of macho bravado and comic relief, distant from the intensity he is known to typically portray. The LEGO Movie 2 was well received, going on to earn over $190 million at the box office.

5. Dune (2021)

Jason Momoa is widely known for his brash movie characters, and his brief role in Dune was no different. Momoa appeared in a supporting role as Duncan Idaho, a high-profile swordfighter in the service of Paul’s father, Duke Leto Atreides.

Unfortunately, Idaho, despite his quiet wisdom and laid-back charm, died in the first movie while defending Paul. Regardless, some fans have refused to give up on the beloved character just yet. Moreover, they hope that Denis Villeneuve will pull a resurrection story in the upcoming sequel just so Momoa can grace the screens again. Dune was a blockbuster, grossing over $400 million worldwide.

4. Justice League (2017)

Momoa has starred as Aquaman in multiple DCEU movies over the years. In 2017, Justice League was the second time the world caught a glimpse of Momoa as Aquaman. Unfortunately, unlike the MCU, live-action movies following the characters from DC Comics haven’t fared too well commercially. As a result, Justice League failed to break even, regardless of its worldwide gross of over $650 million.

3. Fast X (2023)

While still enjoying the spotlight as the musclebound hero, Aquaman, Jason Momoa pulled yet another card from his talent pockets. In a supporting role, he appeared as the villain Dante Reyes in Fast X, one of the final installments of the twenty-two-year-old Fast and Furious franchise. Dante is the son of Fast Five villain Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), who, twisted by the loss of his father, embarks on a bloody vendetta where he targets Dom (Vin Diesel), the crew, and everyone they hold dear. Despite not being at the center of the story, Momoa stunned with a memorable performance as an eccentric, terrifying villain. Still reeling from his heroic waterworld saves, fans watched Momoa delightfully torment his co-stars in Fast X. A moderate box office success, at least in comparison to its budget, the movie grossed $714 million worldwide.

2. Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)

Our first glimpse into Jason Momoa’s DCEU future was in the dark superhero film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Set during the aftermath of Man of Steel, Jason Momoa had a brief cameo here that would kickstart his appearance in other DCEU movies. The character Aquaman appears when caught on camera, in footage Lex Luthor keeps in his files. Batman vs. Superman performed well financially but still did not meet expectations. Altogether, the movie grossed over $873 million at the box office.

1. Aquaman (2018)

Of all the movies in his catalog, Jason Momoa scored big with Aquaman. Perhaps what the DCEU needed was the actor in his own lead superhero role all these years. Evidently, the movie’s success proved a significant breakthrough for the studio. Aquaman 2 is now on the way, albeit suffering many hiccups along the way. The choice to cast him in his now signature role added to the gravitas of the movie and was a highlight for comic book fans. Aquaman hit the $1 billion mark, making it the most successful DCEU movie.

Enter Aquaman: Jason Momoa Jumped In The Mosh Pit At A Metallica Show

Jason Momoa was at a Metallica show this weekend. A likely place for him to be, considering his fondness for throwing up the devil horns. John Travolta, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee, and reality show enemy Tom Sandoval also saw the metal legends play at SoFi Stadium, but unlike Momoa, they weren’t in the pit.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the “Aquaman and Fast X star was spotted thoroughly enjoying himself at Metallica’s concerts in Los Angeles on Friday and Sunday.” He caught Pantera while they were in town as well. In a video shared by TMZ, which you can watch above, you can see Momoa bouncing around a circle pit; he doesn’t stand out as much as Shaq, but it’s close.

Momoa himself shared memories from the concerts in a sweet Instagram post Sunday. Along with a series of photos and videos, he explained that he was supposed to attend with his close friend Travis Snyder, who has leukemia, but due to an emergency surgery he couldn’t attend.

Momoa arranged a FaceTime call between Snyder and members of Metallica. “We had it all set up. I’m so thankful for everyone who made it possible for @thetravissnyder to see @metallica and @panteraofficial with @tommorello,” he wrote. “This was a dream for travis and Unfortunately we had some emergency for him last night but he’s good and healing. Still needs your aloha and mana. But im so thankful for @metallica for connecting with him. You guys are the soundtrack to our lives. And mahalo for donating to Maui.”

What’s Momoa’s favorite Metallica song? I know the answer for his Game of Thrones co-star: “Jump in the Fire.”

Jason Momoa Might Exit “Aquaman” Due To “Terrible” Script

According to a new report, Jason Momoa plans on leaving the Aquaman saga after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Apparently, the film is so subpar, it has given the actor a desire to separate from the franchise. Therefore, the franchise’s future is up for some serious debate. There are rumors that test screenings for the film are going terribly. Some viewers thought it was the worst DCU movie yet. Others walked out of the theater. Also, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is also the last film in the DCU storyline that Momoa started. That makes it hard for audiences to get excited about the film.

A reliable insider, Jeff Sneider, is a reporter for The Ankler, an editor for Below the Line, and a film critic and columnist for LA Magazine. Thanks to him, fans have some insight as to Momoa’s future in the DCU. According to him, he heard that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is “terrible” and “Momoa is going to be Lobo going forward.” He added, “But they can’t say that yet because then it would be a lame duck… and DC is hoping to wring another billion out of the box office. The first one was awful too, so not a huge surprise.” For those who don’t know, Lobo is a cosmic mercenary and bounty hunter that many heroes don’t like. He’s supposedly set to be the villain for 2025’s Superman: Legacy.

Jason Momoa To Move On?

Earlier this year, Momoa made some intriguing statements before all the new DCU announcements. He posted that he’d gotten “great news with Warner Bros.” and specifically thanked James Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn and Safran are the DC Studio leads. Therefore, Momoa seems to know what’s next between him, Warner Bros., and the DCU. Fans know that Momoa has a strong admiration for Lobo and no one would be surprised if he took the opportunity to play the character.

Fans are unsure whether or not Momoa was teasing Aquaman 3 or his dream role playing Lobo. Previously, Comicbook.com’s Brandon Davis pointed out that Gunn posted a social media post with a photo of Lobo. Apparently, Momoa’s reaction was very suspicious. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that fans will know about Momoa’s fate in the DCU until the Aquaman sequel is released. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will release to theaters on December 25, 2023.

“Fast X” Trailer Hits Impressive Numbers In Its First 72 Hours

The release of Fast X is just over three months away. Universal has accelerated and hit the gas on unveiling the film’s trailer to television for the Super Bowl. The highly-anticipated trailer scored 295 million global views within the first 72 hours of its release. A source with connections to Universal confirmed the statistics to Variety. Universal counted views across many social media platforms. Instagram held roughly 30% of the trailer’s total views. Coming in second place was TikTok, where 25% of the trailer’s views came from. Facebook came in third place with 22% of views, and Youtube came in fourth place with 18%. Additionally, Twitter held only 6% of views on the trailer, but “Fast X” was the top trending topic on Twitter in the United States immediately following the trailer’s release.

As far as promotional events go, Universal held multiple events celebrating the release of the trailer’s film footage. The studio hosted a launch event for the trailer on February 9, 2023. The event took place in downtown Los Angeles and featured appearances from the franchise. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Sung Kang, and director Louis Leterrier were all in attendance. Interestingly, the majority of views for the trailer came from international territories. Connected with this, Universal held fan events in Mexico, France, and Japan, as well.

“Fast X” Trailer

Plus, the studio will release a series of “Legacy Trailers” beginning in early February. They will roll out a new edition of the trailer each day, focusing on a different cast member of the film. The Fast X trailer aired online for the first time on the morning of February 10. Universal released the trailer officially a few days prior to Super Bowl LVII. Then, the trailer then aired during the program on February 12. It showcases the danger that Dom (Vin Diesel) and everyone he cares about will face as “the end of the road begins.” Fans are looking forward to seeing Jason Momoa’s character, Dante, who will be Dom’s newest adversary.

Based on Fast X‘s synopsis, “Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But, everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.” Justin Lin, Zach Dean, and Dan Mazeau wrote Fast X. Producers include Diesel, Lin, Neal Moritz, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Samantha Vincent. The film’s theatrical release date is set for May 19, 2023.

Vin Diesel & Jason Momoa Star in “Fast X” Trailer

Universal has begun the promotional campaign for the highly-anticipated 10th film of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X. Today, they released the film’s action-packed trailer. Brie Larson and Jason Momoa lead a group of new actors and actresses that have been added to the franchise. Momoa plays a villain, Dante. Larson plays a new character, Tess. Other individuals new to the franchise include Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung King, Jason Statham, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Scott Eastwood will return to their roles.

The trailer for Fast X showcases the danger that Dom and his crew will encounter in as “the end of the road begins.” Momoa’s character, Dante, is their newest adversary. Apparently, he has ties to Fast Five (2011). Dante remembers when Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) tied a bank fault to their Dodge Chargers and drove it through Brazil to get away from Hernan Reyes. Their heist ruined his life. After all, he is Reyes’ son. He has spent the last 12 years thinking of a plan for revenge against them. He wants to ruin the “Fast” family and make Dom lose someone he loves.

“Fast X” Trailer

Since becoming reunited with Jakob at the end of F9: The Fast Saga, the Toretto family’s patriarch has tons to lose. He is also raising his son, little Brian (Leo Abuelo Perry), with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). According to Fast X‘s synopsis, “Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But, everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.”

Larson’s character, Tess, is described as a “rogue representative from the Agency, looks to be on the side of the Torettos.” Also, “Captain Marvel” makes four Oscar-winning performers in the franchise (with Moreno, Theron, and Mirren). Richtson’s character, Aimes, is the new head of the agency. Apparently he “doesn’t hold the same fondness for Dom’s crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody.” Furthermore, Melchior is a Brazilian street racer who is connected to Dom’s past. The trailer footage also promises a major fight scene between Cipher (Theron) and Letty (Rodriguez). The film is to be epic.
