As of 2023, his net worth is estimated to be around $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did he amass such a fortune, and what has contributed to his legendary status in the music industry?

Born on November 18, 1962, in San Francisco, Kirk Hammett’s journey into music began early. His older brother’s music collection introduced him to rock and roll. In 1983, a significant turn led Hammett to join Metallica, replacing their original lead guitarist, Dave Mustaine. This move would prove pivotal not just for Hammett but for the band as a whole. With Hammett’s inclusion, Metallica’s sound evolved, and they began their ascent to becoming one of the most successful rock groups in music history. Over the years, Metallica has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide, with their tours known to gross between $70-100 million, including ticket sales, merchandise, and royalties.

Further, Kirk Hammett’s contribution to Metallica’s success is undeniable. He has penned some of the most memorable guitar riffs in rock history. One of his most notable contributions is the riff for “Enter Sandman,” which became one of Metallica’s biggest mainstream hits. His prowess as a guitarist has not gone unnoticed; in 2003, Rolling Stone ranked him No. 11 in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Outside of his musical career, Hammett is a dedicated horror genre fan. He has an extensive collection of horror memorabilia, including film costumes and original movie posters. In 2012, he showcased his passion by releasing a photo collection book dedicated to monster movies and horror artifacts. He even launched an annual horror convention, Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEvil, in 2014.

On the personal front, Hammett has been married twice and has two sons with his current wife, Lani, whom he married in 1998. He has also made significant investments in real estate, primarily in the San Francisco area. Some of his notable purchases include a mansion in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood and properties in the luxurious Sea Cliff area. Over the years, he has seen considerable profits from his real estate ventures, further adding to his net worth.

As of 2023, Robert Trujillo, the iconic bassist of the legendary heavy metal band Metallica, boasts an estimated net worth of a whopping $65 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Born on October 23, 1964, in Santa Monica, California, Robert Trujillo grew up in Culver City and is of Native American and Mexican descent. He contributed to several of their albums during his tenure, including Controlled by Hatred/Feel Like Shit…Déjà Vu and Suicidal for Life. Simultaneously, Trujillo embarked on a side project, Infectious Grooves, a funk metal supergroup. In 2003, two years after Metallica’s bassist Jason Newsted’s departure, Trujillo joined the heavy metal giants’ ranks. His inclusion was significant, with a $1 million advance marking his entry. His first album with Metallica, Death Magnetic (2008), topped the Billboard 200 charts and secured three Grammy Awards. The subsequent World Magnetic Tour from 2008 to 2010 further solidified his position in the band. Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, released in 2016 after an eight-year hiatus, continued the band’s legacy, becoming their sixth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.

He also briefly joined Black Label Society and played on Jerry Cantrell’s solo album Degradation Trip in 2002. Further, Trujillo’s talents aren’t confined to the music stage. He ventured into film, producing the 2014 documentary Jaco, which delves into the life of jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius. His earlier forays into acting included roles in films like House Calls (1978) and Scout’s Honor (1980).

Renowned for his finger-style playing, Trujillo occasionally employs a pick. He’s recognized for chord-based harmonics and the slap bass technique. James Hetfield Net Worth 2023: What Is The Metallica Legend Worth?

James Hetfield, the iconic frontman of Metallica, boasts an impressive net worth of $300 million as of 2023, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did this rock legend amass such wealth, and what’s the story behind his journey to fame Born James Alan Hetfield on August 3, 1963, in Downey, California, he was introduced to music early on. His mother, an opera singer, and his father, a truck driver, separated when he was just 13. Tragically, his mother passed away from cancer when he was 16, a pain that would later influence many of Metallica’s lyrics.

Hetfield’s passion for rock music ignited during his teenage years. After dabbling in piano lessons, he joined a few bands, including Leather Charm and Obsession. However, his true breakthrough came when he responded to an ad placed by drummer Lars Ulrich in an LA newspaper. This meeting led to the formation of Metallica in 1981.

Metallica’s Meteoric Rise

Metallica, co-founded by Hetfield and Ulrich, quickly rose to prominence in the heavy metal scene. With Hetfield as the lead singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter, the band released their first album in 1983. Over the years, they’ve won nine Grammys, sold over 125 million albums globally, and released hits like “Enter Sandman,” “The Unforgiven,” and “Nothing Else Matters.”

Their most successful album, the 1991 self-titled Metallica (often referred to as the Black Album), sold 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. Their continued success in the music industry is evident with their 11th studio album, 72 Seasons, released in April 2023.

Metallica’s success isn’t limited to album sales. When on tour, the band is known to generate between $50-100 million in revenue from ticket sales, merchandise, and more. Between July 2018 and July 2019, they raked in $70 million. Their influence in the rock world was further solidified when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Personal Struggles & Triumphs

Despite his success, Hetfield faced numerous challenges. He battled drug and alcohol addiction, suffered severe injuries during concerts, and even lost his voice in the 90s. However, he’s shown resilience, seeking treatment when needed and continuing to produce music with Metallica. Further, Hetfield is an avid hunter, fisherman, and car and motorcycle enthusiast outside of music. He also enjoys sports teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco Giants, and San Jose Sharks.

Real Estate & Philanthropy

Hetfield’s wealth isn’t just tied to music. He’s made significant real estate investments over the years. He once owned thousands of acres in Marin County, California, and even caused a stir when he blocked a popular trail on his property. However, he’s also shown his philanthropic side, donating large portions of his land to non-profit trusts and the local community.

In 2016, he relocated to Vail, Colorado, seeking a more accepting community for his hunting lifestyle. Despite this move, he maintains a valuable real estate portfolio, including properties in Maui, Hawaii.

James Hetfield’s net worth of $300 million in 2023 is a testament to his talent, hard work, and business acumen. From his early days in Downey, California, to becoming a global rock icon with Metallica, Hetfield’s journey combines musical genius, personal struggles, and savvy investments. As Metallica continues producing music and tour, Hetfield’s legacy and net worth will likely grow even further.

Lars Ulrich Net Worth 2023: What Is The Metallica Legend Worth?

Lars Ulrich, the iconic drummer and co-founder of Metallica, has made a significant mark in rock and metal music. As of 2023, his estimated net worth stands at a staggering $350 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did he amass such wealth, and what factors contributed to his financial success?

Metallica, formed in 1981, quickly rose to fame with albums like Kill ‘Em All (1983), Ride the Lightning (1984), and Master of Puppets (1986). Their fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), also known as The Black Album, catapulted them into superstardom, selling 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. Over the years, the band has sold over 125 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists in history.

Ulrich’s drumming style has evolved over the years. In the early ’80s, he was known for his fast and aggressive thrash beats. He often utilized the double bass technique, which has become popular among heavy metal drummers. His drumming synchronizes perfectly with James Hetfield’s rhythm guitar, creating a unique sound that Metallica fans adore. Influenced by drummers like Ian Paice and Bill Ward, Ulrich’s drumming prowess has significantly influenced Metallica’s success.

Personal Life & Ventures

Ulrich’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. He has been married three times and has children from his previous marriages. His diverse interests extend beyond music. For instance, he has been involved in various ventures, including film and other media.

Then, in the late ’90s and early 2000s, Ulrich became a central figure in the fight against file-sharing companies like Napster. Metallica filed a lawsuit against Napster in 2000 for copyright infringement. While Ulrich’s stance was about protecting artists’ rights, the move was controversial, with some viewing it as a wealthy rock star targeting individual music lovers.

Also, besides music, Ulrich has shown a keen interest in real estate and art. He purchased a mansion in Tiburon, California, in 1993 for $6 million, now one of the largest houses in Marin County. Additionally, he owns 140 undeveloped acres in Marin County, which he had listed for sale in 2015 for $39 million. Further, Ulrich is also an avid art collector. He once owned several works from Jean Michel Basquiat, selling one for $5.5 million in 2002 and another for $13.5 million in 2008. These savvy investments have significantly contributed to his net worth.

As the drummer of one of the most successful rock bands in history, he has earned his wealth and the respect and admiration of fans and peers alike. Whether through his drumming, stance on artists’ rights, or investments, Ulrich remains a significant figure in the world of music and beyond.

Enter Aquaman: Jason Momoa Jumped In The Mosh Pit At A Metallica Show

Jason Momoa was at a Metallica show this weekend. A likely place for him to be, considering his fondness for throwing up the devil horns. John Travolta, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee, and reality show enemy Tom Sandoval also saw the metal legends play at SoFi Stadium, but unlike Momoa, they weren’t in the pit.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the “Aquaman and Fast X star was spotted thoroughly enjoying himself at Metallica’s concerts in Los Angeles on Friday and Sunday.” He caught Pantera while they were in town as well. In a video shared by TMZ, which you can watch above, you can see Momoa bouncing around a circle pit; he doesn’t stand out as much as Shaq, but it’s close.

Momoa himself shared memories from the concerts in a sweet Instagram post Sunday. Along with a series of photos and videos, he explained that he was supposed to attend with his close friend Travis Snyder, who has leukemia, but due to an emergency surgery he couldn’t attend.

Momoa arranged a FaceTime call between Snyder and members of Metallica. “We had it all set up. I’m so thankful for everyone who made it possible for @thetravissnyder to see @metallica and @panteraofficial with @tommorello,” he wrote. “This was a dream for travis and Unfortunately we had some emergency for him last night but he’s good and healing. Still needs your aloha and mana. But im so thankful for @metallica for connecting with him. You guys are the soundtrack to our lives. And mahalo for donating to Maui.”

What’s Momoa’s favorite Metallica song? I know the answer for his Game of Thrones co-star: “Jump in the Fire.”

The 2022 lineup has been announced, with headliners including hard rock mainstays Metallica, disco-pop revivalist Dua Lipa, gymnastic rap enthusiast J. Cole, and pop-punk pioneers Green Day. The big print on the flyer for the four-day festival runs a bit rap-heavy, though, as Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly, and Lil Baby fill out the top third (yeah, I know, MGK’s technically an emo rocker now), along with EDM icon Kygo.

Further down the list is a truly breathtaking range of both up-and-coming and veteran artists including Glass Animals, Big Sean, Jazmine Sullivan, Don Toliver, Charli XCX, Denzel Curry, Blxst, Willow, Cordae, Caroline Polachek, PinkPanthress, Audrey Nuna, Wet Leg, Larry June, Coi Leray, King Princess, Dashboard Confessional, Baby Tate, Petey, Blackstarkids, and more. Metallica — Metallica (Remastered) and The Metallica Blacklist

J Balvin Turns Metallica’s ‘Wherever I May Roam’ Into A Reggaeton Anthem

The rollout of Metallica‘s fascinating covers compilation album The Metallica Blacklist continues, this time with J Balvin’s Latin take on the band’s 1991 single “Wherever I May Roam.” While the original is a driving saga about a drifter who redefines anywhere he lays his head as “home,” Balvin’s cover snatches the saucy sitar loop from the beginning of the song, adds rumbling 808s, and Balvin’s own swaggering review of his impact on the music game.

“Ya son más de diez años metiéndole y todavía sueno como nuevo,” he boasts, roughly translating to, “It’s been more than ten years and I still sound like new.” The hook brings back the wailing guitars, with the buzzsaw ax-work and chorus of the original forming an aggressive bridge.

The previously released singles from the band’s cover album have included Miley Cyrus’s take on “Nothing Else Matters,” which also includes Chad Smith, Elton John, Robert Trujillo, Watt, and Yo-Yo Ma, and two wildly different covers of “Sad But True,” one from St. Vincent and one from Jason Isbell. Other artists expected to appear on the 53-track album include Cage The Elephant, Darius Rucker, Kamasi Washington, Phoebe Bridgers, Pup, Rina Sawayama, and Weezer.

It’s a big one for rock fans: Headlining the four-day festival are Metallica, Twenty One Pilots, Placebo, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Muse, Faith No More, Kings Of Leon, and Pixies. Additionally, more headliners are set to be announced. Elsewhere on the poster as it stands now are Carly Rae Jepsen, Wolf Alice, Deftones, St. Vincent, Foals, Sigrid, Tove Lo, Beabadoobee, Cherry Glazerr, Alt-J, The War On Drugs, Mø, Phoebe Bridgers, Black Pumas, Shura, Royal Blood, Zara Larsson, Editors, Leon Bridges, Sylvan Esso, Princess Nokia, Gang Of Youths, Marika Hackman, and Bartees Strange.

Tickets for the 2020 and 2021 festivals are valid for the 2022 festival, for which tickets are currently on sale.

A lot of the 2022 lineup is made up of artists who were set to perform in 2021. Some notable ones who aren’t on the new poster, though, include Cardi B, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Anderson .Paak.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
