Jake Paul Set to Enter Deal with Showtime Sports

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) has announced a thrilling matchup between international sensation Jake Paul (8-1, 5 KOs) and professional boxer Ryan Bourland (17-2, 6 KOs). Set for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, the 8-round cruiserweight clash positions Paul against his toughest opponent.

Paul vs. Bourland is the co-main event alongside the Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano vs. Nina Meinke matchup, presented by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy. The event marks Serrano’s return to Puerto Rico after becoming the island’s first undisputed world boxing champion, male or female.

Bourland, a seasoned boxer with years of experience, brings an impressive record of 17 wins and two losses to the ring. The event, available as part of the DAZN subscription package, underlines Jake Paul’s commitment to making the sport accessible to fans globally. Moreover, Paul will donate his full fight purse to Boxing Bullies, his nonprofit dedicated to renovating youth boxing gyms across Puerto Rico.

“I’ve always said my goal is to become a world champion. I beat a pro boxer in December in the first round, someone who’s been boxing their entire life, and what did I do next? I went straight back to camp to get ready to face my next opponent, a professional boxer who has twice as many professional fights under his belt than I do,” said Jake Paul. “It’s a new year, it’s an even better me, and I’m facing an even more experienced, seasoned boxer on Saturday, March 2 as co-main to the Puerto Rican GOAT, Amanda Serrano. I’m fighting for experience, not for the money, and to show my love for this beautiful island I’ll be donating my entire fight purse from this event to my nonprofit Boxing Bullies to help renovate gyms across Puerto Rico.”

Following Paul’s remarkable performance in December, where he secured a first-round knockout against Andre August, the upcoming bout aims to showcase Paul’s growth as a boxer. Since turning pro in 2020, Paul has garnered accolades for his dedication to the sport, receiving recognition for Knockout of the Year and Breakout Boxer of the Year.

The event is expected to set records, building on Paul’s previous achievements, including the highest-recorded gate for a boxing event in Orlando. The co-main event promises an electrifying night for boxing enthusiasts, with Ryan Bourland posing a formidable challenge to Jake Paul’s quest for world champion status.

“Jake Paul steps into the ring with his social media clout, but let’s not mistake followers for experience or skill,” said Ryan Bourland. “While he’s been busy chasing likes, I’ve been honing my craft for years, stepping into the ring and beating real boxers. On Saturday, March 2 I will shock the world and put an end to Jake Paul’s boxing career.”

“Jake Paul has broken record after record and in this fight, he’s once again showing what a tremendous person he is as well,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP. “Not only is Jake taking on yet another more experienced professional boxer in Ryan Bourland, but he’s also supporting Amanda Serrano as she headlines this historic event at the legendary Coliseo de Puerto Rico, demonstrating his and MVP’s commitment to equality in the sport. I applaud Jake’s continued commitment to giving back to the youth after he announced he is donating his entire purse from this fight to Boxing Bullies so the organization can continue their mission of renovating boxing gyms to give boys and girls a positive environment to learn. The world continues to watch Jake, and he continues to deliver. Thank you to DAZN for working with us to make this event available to fans around the world and to Celsius for their continued support and partnership. Serrano vs. Meinke featuring Paul vs. Bourland is going to be historic and we can’t wait to bring this amazing card to Puerto Rico.”

In addition to Paul vs. Bourland, the event features other notable matchups, including Javon “Wanna” Walton’s global debut as MVP’s latest signee, WBO junior flyweight world champion Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez facing Rene Santiago, and a clash between Puerto Rico’s Kystal Roado and Mexico’s Gloria Munguilla in a super flyweight bout. Amanda Serrano’s presence as the unified featherweight world champion adds further prestige to the event, contributing to MVP’s commitment to equality in women’s boxing. The Serrano vs. Meinke bout follows Serrano’s historic unified championship fight in October and the Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green vs. Franchón Crews-Dezurn WBC super middleweight and WBA Interim world title bout in December.

Jake Paul Receives MMA Challenge From Tyron Woodley

Overall, Jake Paul has been having a very successful go in the fight world. Although not everyone is convinced of what he can do, he seems to having himself a nice run. Sure, he lost to Tommy Fury. However, he just got in the ring against a real boxer in Andre August. He ended up winning that match thanks to a knockout in the first-round. Not many people expected him to do such a thing, but he was able to clutch up and get it done. This is one of his biggest achievements, and fans have been left quite impressed.

Now, however, he is receiving a challenge from his former opponent, Tyron Woodley. Although Paul has beaten him twice already, in the boxing ring, Woodley wants another shot at Paul. However, according to TMZ, Woodley wants to even the playing field by having the match take place in the Octagon. Yes, that is right, Woodley wants to fight Paul in MMA. This would be a huge test for Jake, and considering his boxing aspirations, it remains to be seen if he would agree to this.

Tyron Woodley Hits Jake Paul With An Offer

“I think if you’re gonna fight anyone in MMA, you fight me MMA. I’m the one that did the numbers with you. I’m the one that did the millions and millions of views in the press conference. I am the one that was a 5x champion. I am the one who took the fight on 2 weeks’ notice,” he said. “Was doing Cobra Kai for 14 hours straight. I trained at 3 AM and I saved that card. That card was not going to happen. People would not have been buying Christmas gifts had I not stepped up to the plate. So to talk about fighting anyone in MMA outside of me is disrespect.”

0129 Jake Paul vs Andre August

In a dazzling display of skill and showmanship, Jake “The Problem Child” Paul secured his eighth professional win with a viral first-round knockout against three-time Golden Gloves winner Andre August. The highly anticipated event presented by CELSIUS Live Fit. Essential Energy featured a special championship bout in which Franchon “The Heavy Hitting Diva” Crews-Dezurn claimed victory by unanimous decision over MVP’s Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green, becoming the new WBC Super Middleweight World Champion and WBA Interim Champion.

Paul, known for his entertaining entrances, surprised the crowd by walking out with Team USA Boxing stars Morelle McCane and Joshua Edwards, dancing to “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Once in the ring, Paul showcased exceptional boxing prowess, delivering a calculated and powerful performance that resulted in a knockout in under three minutes.

The event marked a record-breaking night, with Paul achieving the highest recorded gate for a boxing event in Orlando’s history, surpassing the previous record set by Miguel Cotto in 2013. Additionally, Paul maintained his trend of setting records in every arena he’s fought in throughout his nine-fight professional career. This victory highlights Paul’s impressive journey, solidifying his status as a boxing sensation. The raucous sold-out crowd, including notable figures like Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswany, celebrated the electrifying night, setting the stage for Most Valuable Prospects V in Orlando on Friday, February 2nd.

Jake Paul Gets Vivek Ramaswamy Ringside Tickets To Andre August Fight

Jake Paul has provided GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ringside tickets to his Florida boxing match against Andre August on Saturday. Per TMZ, Ramaswamy will watch the fight ringside, grab a quick face-to-face with Paul before jetting off to Iowa for six campaign events on Sunday. Despite saying he is open to meeting with any candidate interested in meeting him, Paul appears to have formed a special bond with Ramaswamy.

The pair linked up on TikTok back in September. The pair danced together as text appeared on-screen explaining how Ramaswamy was making an effort to “reach out to the younger generations.” It was quite an ironic post, given that Ramaswamy doesn’t believe that people under the age of 25 should be allowed to vote. The billionaire has not made much of an impact on the polls. However, he has received a substantial amount of attention for a handful of his policies. As mentioned, Ramaswamy believes that, aside from a military exemption, the voting age should be 25. Furthermore, Ramaswamy believes voters must have to pass a civics test to vote. This is despite Ramaswamy himself not knowing when the Constitution was written. Additionally, Ramaswamy is a hardliner on immigration, despite the fact that his own father is not a US citizen.

How Is Vivek Ramaswamy Doing In The GOP Primary?

According to polling data from FiveThirtyEight, Ramaswamy is currently a distant fourth in the GOP primary. While he was third at some points during the summer, he has been overtaken by Nikki Haley. At the time of writing, Ramaswamy is averaging 4.5% of the vote in the latest polls. That’s less than half of Haley (11.2%) in third place. Furthermore, Ramaswamy is only doing marginally better in Iowa, the first test of the primary calendar. However, his 5.7% of the Iowa vote is still only going for third and is almost three times lower than Haley’s (15.9%).

Ramaswamy’s most recent appearance was a town hall forum in Iowa broadcast on CNN. In an effort to appeal to far-right voters, Ramaswamy made several false claims about the January 6 insurrection, including about the role of police and the purported presence of undercover federal agents. He also provided misleading answers about wage growth versus inflation and the role of the Federal Reserve. Ramaswamy, whose estimated net worth is around $1 billion, had tried to frame himself as a champion of the people. However, it’s starting to become clear that it’s simply not resonating with voters.

KSI No Longer Wants Jake Paul Fight, Points To Paul’s Low Ticket Sales

KSI has announced that he is no longer interested in fighting Jake Paul after news broke alleging that Paul was yet to sell out his fight against Andre August. “Yeah, he ain’t got any hype anymore. I ain’t wasting my time to fight him lol,” KSI wrote on X. The smaller venue fight at an Orlando casino is already being hailed by Paul as his way of proving his boxing credentials rather than his PPV draw ability. “This is probably just a break-even fight for me. I probably won’t even make money on it. Who knows what the outcome is. It’s $200,000 for a private jet to fly around just to get me there and back,” Paul previously told TMZ.

There is a lot riding on the fight for Paul. If he wins, the result goes a long way proving that he does belong in the boxing space. However, losing would drop him to 0-2 against established boxers, ending any sort of hope he might have had about establishing a serious career outside his celebrity fights. August is 35 years old and has a 10-1-1 career record. That makes him the most experienced fighter Paul has faced in his career so far. Paul suffered the first loss of his career when he faced his first experienced opponent, Tommy Fury, earlier this year.

Jake Paul Puts Kid Cudi On Blast

However, KSI isn’t the only person that Paul potentially has beef with. Earlier this month, Paul took aim at his fellow Clevelander – Kid Cudi. Paul claimed that he had reached out to Cudi about performing at his 2021 fight against Tyron Woodley. However, Cudi’s fee was just too much for Paul to afford. “I tried to get him to perform at the Tyron Woodley fight just before I came out and he asked for like, an astronomical fee that was like, ‘F-ck you.’ I get it, but it’s like, this was like some sh-t to tap in back with the city. Like, first event back from Covid,” Paul explained.

Furthermore, Cudi later responded. “As far as Jake Paul, listen chief, Im an artist. A real one. I make art for a living. Im not some guy that comes out to perform at boxing matches. I entertained it tho cuz it was u, and tho it went against what I stand for I submitted a fee. My fee is my fee. Especially for some sh-t thats not my style. If im gonna do it its gonna be worth it for my pockets and time. This is business baby. Im not these other rappin a– n-ggas that will show up for a lil check. U came to me u shoulda knew what time it was young man. U dont know me either to say im anything broski. So theres that. Ok, these are my thoughts,” Cudi tweeted.

Kid Cudi’s Cleveland Roots Disputed By Rich Paul

Rich Paul took aim at Kid Cudi’s Cleveland heritage during a recent appearance on Jake Paul’s podcast. “Do I think how Cudi treats Cleveland is weird? No, because I don’t think Cleveland ever embraced Cudi, unfortunately. Because you can’t expect somebody to treat a situation any different to how they were treated,” Paul said.

Despite Paul’s comments, Cudi has also repped his home city. His debut mixtape in 2008 featured the track “Cleveland is the Reason”. Furthermore, the release featured several other references to the Ohio hub. He also launched a Cleveland-based music festival, Man Moon’s Landing, last year. “It was dope. I was exposed to a lot of different things. It was like a suburb and the hood was a couple blocks away. There was a bar at the end of my street my dad used to take me to. He would talk to his buddies and have a beer and I would sit there and eat jellybeans. I was like 5 or 6. I came to New York solely to do music. The response was never what I wanted [in Cleveland] because the Cleveland audience only wanted to hear that street sh-t,” Cudi said in 2008.

Jake Paul Also Trashes Kid Cudi

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Paul also took shots at Cudi. Paul’s grievance surrounded Cudi’s appearance fees.

Furthermore, Paul argued that he gave discounts on his appearance fees when the City of Cleveland was involved. With Cudi out, Paul instead made his ring entrance to recordings of Machine Gun Kelly‘s “Till I Die” and Jeezy‘s “Put On”. Paul would go on to beat the retired MMA fighter via split decision. Cudi has not yet responded to the allegations.

Jake Paul Blasts Kid Cudi For Not Giving Him A “Hometown Discount” On His Appearance Fee

Jake Paul took aim at fellow Ohio native Kid Cudi for his “astronomical” appearance fees. Jake Paul To Fight Seasoned Boxer This Month

Elsewhere, Paul’s next fight is rapidly approaching. Paul will fight Houston-based professional boxer Andre August on December 15 in Orlando. August is 35 years old and has a 10-1-1 career record. That makes him the most experienced fighter Paul has faced in his career so far. Furthermore, it marks a shift in Paul’s approach to boxing. It’s hard to take the decision as anything other than Paul addressing the primary criticism against him – that he takes name value over boxing reputation when it comes to opponents.

“I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life. So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness on Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see,” Paul said in a statement.

Jake Paul Reveals His Next Fight Won’t Make Any Money

Jake Paul is easily one of the biggest boxers in the world right now. Sure, there are those who absolutely hate that. However, there is no denying what he has accomplished in the fight game. At this point, he is someone that fans want to see on a consistent basis. He knows how to put on a show, and with only one loss on his resume, there is this sense that he can do big things. Now, however, he is focusing on fighting real boxers. On December 15th, Paul will get to fight Andre August.

August is a 35-year-old fighter who has a solid resume on his hands. However, as some fans have noted, the fight is in a smaller venue than Paul is used to. Based on his opponent, there is no doubt that the draw is much smaller. While speaking with TMZ Sports, Paul noted that this is all part of the plan. Essentially, he just wants to get some experience against real boxers. That is his goal in this match, and he doesn’t care about making money. If he breaks even, that will be considered a success.

Jake Paul Explains

“This is probably just a break-even fight for me,” Paul said. “I probably won’t even make money on it. Who knows what the outcome is. It’s $200,000 for a private jet to fly around just to get me there and back.” This is an interesting strategy for Paul and it is most certainly a risk. If he loses, he could very well end up having to rely solely on big celebrity fights. So far, his only fight against a true boxer was against Tommy Fury, and that did not end well. Only time will tell whether or not Andre is more of a beatable figure.

Terence Crawford Compliments Jake and Logan Paul to Lil Wayne: ‘I Look at Jake and Logan as Real Boxers’

Terence Crawford Compliments Jake and Logan Paul to Lil Wayne

Young Money Radio returns with an exclusive interview featuring Lil Wayne and Lineal Lightweight Champion, Terence Crawford. Known as the 2014 Fighter of the Year, Crawford delves into his illustrious boxing career and shares insights into his pre-fight mindset.

The conversation between Lil Wayne and Crawford extends beyond the boxing ring, touching on strategies to attract more attention to the sport. They explore the intersection of music and boxing, with Crawford revealing the musical influences that help him focus and prepare for his matches.

Among topics were the Paul brothers who have taken on combat sports in boxing and WWE. Crawford says he views the two as boxers.

“I look at Jake Paul and Logan Paul as real fighters,” Crawford said. Real boxers. For the purpose being how long they’ve been doing. They started doing the backyard brawls with the gloves on years ago. A lot of people probably don’t even know that. That was when they was doing the little YouTube stuff. Then they start training. Getting serious, training with serious boxers. So I look at them as real fighters. But the sport of boxing, it just needs more eyes on it.”

As far as his music choices, Crawford says: “I have some Lil Wayne, I have some Anita Baker, I have some Kirk Franklin, I have some jazz, I have a little country. It just variety. I just put everything in one, and it just-Because I might get up and I might be hyped on a song, but I like to be mellow. Save all the energy for the fight. Then Anita Baker come on, and then I’m just sitting there, I’m just in the zone.”

Logan Paul’s Boxing Retirement Disputed By Brother Jake

Jake Paul has disputed his brother Logan’s seeming retirement from boxing. “I don’t believe that. I don’t know when he’ll fight but he’s just got so much fight in him and he’s going into his athletic prime. I think he’s going to fight again for sure,” Jake told The MMA Hour.

Logan announced his retirement earlier this week during an interview on Fox. “Yeah, I think I’ve retired from boxing. I think I’ve done enough in the sport, going fully undefeated at 25-0. So yeah, I’m gonna be a wrestler now. No more money in boxing. Every company is going broke, so [I’m] a full-time wrestler,” Logan told the show. It echoes comments that Logan made after he won the WWE US Championship. “I think I have to,” Paul said of spending more time on WWE programming. “You’re going to have to watch Raw. You’re going to have to watch SmackDown. I’m going to make some surprise appearances and show these wrestlers who’s the real king,” Paul told ESPN.

Jake Paul Praised For Expanding Boxing’s Audience

Meanwhile, boxing legend and Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward gave high praise for Jake Paul during a recent interview on TMZ. “I don’t hate on it. The crossover stuff like what Jake Paul, Logan [Paul]is doing, [Francis] Ngannou just did, I respect it. That takes a lot of courage, takes a lot of heart. It actually brings a new audience, more eyeballs,” Ward said, “and if the fanbase follows them over to boxing, then more power to ’em. I’m a fan of it, I appreciate it and I watch it.” Ward said. Furthermore, he noted that he would be open to taking on one of the Paul Brothers in an exhibition fight.

The rise of non-traditional boxing has been a mixed bag. Jake Paul has talent but little desire to fight actual boxers. Logan is more interested in pursuing his wrestling career than in boxing. Furthermore, both his fight with Dillon Danis and KSI’s fight with Tommy Fury was referred to as a “disgrace to boxing”. However, then you have Francis Ngannou giving Tyson Fury “the toughest fight in a decade” and even receiving a WBC ranking out of it.
