Stephen A. Smith Argues His Pick For NBA MVP

Stephen A. Smith has revealed who he is rocking with for NBA MVP. As the NBA playoffs are starting up, Stephen A. picked his MVP this morning on First Take. The MVP race is a three-way battle between Denver’s Nikola Jokic, Dallas’s Luka Doncic, and Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. All three have had incredible seasons leading their teams, but one guy is hands down the MVP, Stephen A.

Jokic is a two-time MVP and defending NBA champ with the number two team in the West. Luka has put up ridiculous numbers in Dallas this season, leading the Mavericks to the 5th seed. SGA has led the unlikely OKC Thunder to the 1-seed in the West, putting up ridiculous numbers in the process. It’s a tough call between the three, but votes for awards are coming in, and Stephen A. is confident in his pick. Stephen A.

Stephen A.’s MVP Pick

Stephen A. Smith has chosen Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as his NBA MVP. Stephen A. made the case to Shannon Sharpe and Molly Qerim, citing Gilgeous-Alexander’s historic season, which was full of accomplishments. Picking over the consensus pick Jokic is befitting of Stephen A., who is known for his strong takes. Stephen A. may be proven right, depending on how things unfold in the postseason. Shai led the second-youngest roster in the league to the top spot in the tough Western Conference. Furthermore, Shai put up incredible numbers on offense, possessing one of the smoothest playstyles in the league. No one expected this so soon for OKC, and their success might mean hardware for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The NBA MVP award has a lot of different factors tied to it. Factors include Team success and individual stats, as well as the overall narrative of the season. Shai has a great narrative, leading OKC out of nowhere into the top team in the West. Luka Doncic and, more so, Jokic are equally deserving, but Jokic already has two MVPs, and Luka’s team isn’t as good as Gilgeous Alexander. Voters might be looking for new blood to award. In any case, Stephen A.’s pick is a smart one. Only time can tell who the real MVP of a season was anyway. We will hopefully get these MVP candidates playing head-to-head in the playoffs to prove whose award it really is.

Jake Paul Signs Boxer After Viral Confrontation

Jake Paul has signed Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat to his MVP label after their viral confrontation earlier this week. The two men had to be separated after Goyat pulled up on Paul in Puerto Rico, with footage of the incident quickly spreading online. Goyat is has repeatedly held the WBC Asia title and has been calling out Paul online for months. It’s now clear that the confrontation was staged to precede Goyat signing with MVP.

“I’m truly honored to be the newest member of the Most Valuable Promotions family. MVP has been making waves in the boxing world, particularly with its commitment to showcasing and uplifting women in the sport since 2021. In just 2.5 years, MVP has organized some of the world’s most significant boxing events, and I’m excited to work with MVP to elevate the status of professional boxing in India and bring attention to boxers from India globally,” Goyat said. The fighter, who was the first Indian fighter to be ranked by the WBC, is currently 18-4 in his career.

Jake Paul Blasts Kid Cudi For Not Giving Him A “Hometown Discount” On His Appearance Fee

While Paul’s beef with Goyat, he has been known to harbor some genuine grudges. Last year, Paul took aim at fellow Ohio native Kid Cudi for his “astronomical” appearance fees. Paul claimed that he had reached out to Cudi about performing at his 2021 fight against Tyron Woodley. However, Cudi’s fee was just too much for Paul to afford. “I tried to get him to perform at the Tyron Woodley fight just before I came out and he asked for like, an astronomical fee that was like, ‘F-ck you.’ I get it, but it’s like, this was like some sh-t to tap in back with the city. Like, first event back from Covid,” Paul explained.

Furthermore, Paul argued that he gave discounts on his appearance fees when the City of Cleveland was involved. With Cudi out, Paul instead made his ring entrance to recordings of Machine Gun Kelly‘s “Till I Die” and Jeezy‘s “Put On”. Paul would go on to beat the retired MMA fighter via split decision.

Sexyy Red Is 2023’s Hip-Hop MVP

Coming into this year, Sexyy Red was relatively unknown. Although she certainly had fans and a following on social media, she didn’t have mainstream appeal. However, that is not to say that she hadn’t been trying to make it big. A deep dive on her YouTube channel will show songs and performances from as old as five years ago. These efforts were getting a respectable amount of attention for someone with very little backing. That said, things took an exceptional turn when she dropped “Pound Town” in January of 2023.

Sexyy Red Gets A Hit

“My coochie pink, my booty hole brown,” are lyrics that can be traced back to the moment Sexyy Red became a superstar. The song was a viral hit that was shocking to a lot of people. Subsequently, hip-hop purists called her “trash” and bemoaned about the death of the genre. However, casual listeners were captivated by her confidence and her visceral raps. Each bar took you on a journey and you didn’t know where she would go next.

While the flows may be a bit questionable at times, they were filled to the brim with personality. The lyrics were so raunchy that even Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion could be seen as “prude.” Overall, “Pound Town” was the catalyst for a movement defined by the likes of Sexyy and one of her best industry friends, Sukihana.

Hood Hottest Princess Does Numbers

All too often, these kinds of viral songs can lead to artists becoming one-hit wonders. In the eyes of many, Sexyy was destined for that kind of fate. However, this was a complete misread of both her talent and her charisma. As we have seen with another fellow newcomer, Ice Spice, having a great personality goes a long way. It can draw in a stable fanbase while also giving other artists a reason to work with you. When your energy is right, you can make anything happen. That is exactly what Sexyy Red did, to perfection.

Over the ensuing months, she would drop songs like “Hellcats SRTs” and “SkeeYee.” Furthermore, she even got a feature from Nicki Minaj with “Pound Town 2.” These tracks found their footing on the album Hood Hottest Princess. While it may not have had the same kind of sales numbers as a Utopia or a For All The Dogs, this is an album that made its impact in clubs, bars, and most importantly, cars around America. “SkeeYee” became the anthem of the New York Jets while “Hellcats SRTs” is a mainstay in the club. These tracks are played at sporting events and have taken on a life of their own.

Not to mention, Sexyy also got invited to finish off Drake’s tour as the opening act. A co-sign from Drake can change your life and Sexyy certainly took advantage. Immediately after going on tour with Drake, she decided to book her own solo tour which sold out within minutes. It was yet another example of Sexyy’s reach and her appeal to the broader masses. In just a few short months, she was able to accomplish something a lot of major artists are still struggling to figure out.

Sexyy Red’s MVP Case

The aforementioned tour has begun and despite being pregnant, Sexyy continues to perform. Her work ethic is second to none, and she will stop at nothing to give the fans what they paid for. Overall, this is one of the many reasons why were are crowning Sexyy Red as the Hip-Hop MVP of 2023. Sure, there are plenty of names we could have chosen instead. For instance, some would say it is Lil Yachty. With “Poland,” and Let’s Start Here taking him to new heights, some feel like Yachty is at the top of his career. However, Yachty did not keep it strictly hip-hop this year. How can someone be a Hip-Hop MVP when they denigrate the genre any chance they get?

There are also artists like Ice Spice, Drake, Veeze, and perhaps even Travis Scott who could be considered here. In Drake’s case, For All The Dogs did not land like fans hoped it would. Meanwhile, Utopia was way too polarizing to be considered an Album Of The Year contender. As for Veeze, well, one could argue he is the runner-up here. Ganger was an incredible body of work and his tour has also been an amazing success. However, when it comes down to it, Sexyy Red truly checked all of the boxes this year.

Moving Forward

Whether it be her constant stream of hits, her nearly flawless album, or the successful tour stops she has made, Sexyy has shown us all that she has what it takes to be successful for a long time. While the haters and discourse havers will continue to minimize her success, it’s important to keep things in focus. Zoom out and take a look at the entire music landscape of 2023. You will be hard-pressed to find an artist who had a better year than Sexyy.

Chad Johnson Makes MVP Case For Tyreek Hill

NFL legend Chad Johnson says he’s not worried about Tyreek Hill’s recent ankle injury and that the Miami Dolphins wide receiver should be in the MVP conversation. While speaking with TMZ Sports, Johnson made his case by reacting to the team’s 28-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Hill’s absence.

“This is why he belongs in the MVP conversation,” Johnson said. “I know the MVP is a quarterback award, but what you saw [Monday] night, for two quarters with the absence of Tyreek, is how important he is to that team.” Hill exited the game in the first quarter and finished with just four receptions for 61 yards. In turn, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa failed to record a touchdown pass and ended up with an abysmal QBR of 29.2.

Johnson continued: “Usually when you think about NFL teams when they lose their starting quarterback, the offense, it goes to sh*t. Now, I’m not talking about them. I’m trying to give people an assessment on how important the Tyreek dynamic is to that offense to make it go.” From there, Johnson confirmed he would “absolutely” vote for Hill if he had an MVP vote.

Chad Johnson On His Pick For MVP

Hill is currently leading the NFL in receiving yards with 1,542 as well as touchdown catches with 12. His remarkable 118.6 yards per game are on pace to tie him for the fifth-best in a single year and he even has a chance to break the single-season record for total yards. Jojopyun Wins LCS Summer MVP

Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun has been named the MVP of the LCS Summer split. He won the award in a landslide ahead of Blaber of Cloud9 and River of Golden Guardians. The Evil Geniuses midlaner is coming off his second full year in the league. Furthermore, he impressed voters with his consistent performances and highlight reel plays. Jojopyun helped guide Evil Geniuses to a 12-6 record during the regular season, good enough for third place in the standings. However, things help apart in the playoffs. Evil Geniuses were swept 3-0 by Cloud9 before falling to Team Liquid 3-1 in their do-or-die match with Worlds qualification on the line.

Jojopyun finished the split with a 4.2 KDA, 72.4% kill participation rate, a 9.1 CSM rate, and a 31.4% damage contribution rate. Furthermore, the young mid laner was named to the All-Pro First Team. However, not everyone is happy about the choice made by the voters. According to the LCS, “the awards are voted on by the LCS broadcast team, third-party media, and the pro teams themselves.”

Did Jojopyun Have An MVP Split?

Jojopyun is definitely one of the best North American players to debut in many years. However, did he have an MVP-level split in Summer 2023? His KDA mark of 4.2 was only 16th best in the league. Furthermore, three of his teammates (UNF0RGIVEN, Armao, and Eyla) performed better in the statistic than Jojo. Additionally, his 4.2 was also almost half the league leader, Cloud9’s Berserker (8.2). Meanwhile, his KP% was 17th in the league, his CSM 11th. Granted, he was second in the league in DMG% but elsewhere, his numbers were well below where you would expect the overwhelming MVP choice to be. It’s very much a “vibes” win.

Then there are the playoffs. Granted, voting was done between the end of the regular season and the playoffs. But regardless, Jojopyun and Evil Geniuses won just four of their 12 playoff matches. After beating TSM 3-2 in the first round, they were swept by Cloud9. Then they were stomped 3-1 by Team Liquid in the series that had the last chance at a Worlds spot on the line. Jojpyun had a 2.5 KDA in those 12 games. His ability to dominate and make an impact was completely solved and neutralized by better opposition. While congratulations are in order for Jojopyun, questions remain about the voters

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie And Myke Towers Name-Drop Basically Every NBA Star On Their New ‘MVP’ Remix

The NBA Finals are around the corner, but A Boogie With Da Hoodie has already cast his ballot for this year’s breakout player. On the remix for his song “MVP,” the rapper runs a lyrical drill using the name of the league’s biggest stars.

The track produced by GoodJobLarry, MD$, and Ruuben originally featured G-Eazy. However, this go around, the Bronx native drafts Puerto Rican recording artist Myke Towers to trade off bars.

Boogie sets the play as he raps on the first verse, “Bright lights like we at the Garden / On P, don’t get me startеd / Whole team walk in, we thе party / If I can’t make the play, I’ma lob it / If you jump, that’s right on your head / Had to put ’em to sleep, go to bed / I’m a star, dropped fifty and left / From the logo like I’m Steph.”

Towers doesn’t drop the ball when it is his turn, spitting, “I’m ballin’ young like Tatum / So many trophies, I gotta make room / Playoff mode, you gotta stay tuned / I’m a head coach when I make moves / I’m The Joker like Jokić / Easy money like KD / Big brands gotta pay me.”
