Jackson Mahomes, the often-controversial brother of Patrick Mahomes, is being hailed as a hero for his actions during the mass shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade. Furthermore, eyewitnesses claim that Mahomes leaped into action to help a young child who became separated from their parents. “I don’t care what anyone says but I have found a newfound respect for Jackson Mahomes. Ana and I were stuck hiding with him at union station by the trains. And he was taking care of a child who lost his parents and helping him calm down,” a woman wrote on X after the shooting.

It is believed that a trio of individuals opened fire on the crowds outside Union Station a few minutes after Chiefs players and coaches made speeches about their Super Bowl win. One person was killed and 21 more injured, including 11 children. However, all three suspects are now in police custody. Many people expressed their surprise that Jackson Mahomes was still present at the festivities at the time of the shooting. Most assumed that he had left with the team.

Fatal Shooting Victim Named In Chiefs Mass Shooting

Meanwhile, Lisa Lopez-Galvan has been named as the lone fatality of the mass shooting incident that occurred at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Parade yesterday. Lopez-Galvan was killed after three individuals opened fire on crowds congregated outside Kansas City’s Union Station. 21 others were injured, including 11 children. “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family. This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,” wrote Lopez-Galvan’s employer wrote in a statement.

Fans were able to apprehend at least one of the suspects as they tried to flee the scene on foot. Social media users were quick to applaud the bravery of the fans. However, others derided police officers seen refusing to assist in videos posted to social media. The details of the shooting remain a developing story.

Prosecutors have filed a motion to dismiss three felony sexual battery charges from their case against Jackson Mahomes. Per sources who spoke to TMZ, an uncooperative alleged victim has meant that the prosecution has had to amend the scope of their investigation. Despite video evidence tying Mahomes to the alleged assault of a restaurant manager in Overland Park, the woman has told prosecutors that she does not want to press charges. The 23-year-old Mahomes was arrested and booked at Johnson County Detention Center in early April 2023. Furthermore, he was reportedly charged with sexual battery relating to a February incident at the Aspen Restaurant and Lounge. “Like I said from the beginning. Jackson has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of,” Mahomes’ attorney told a local FOX affiliate. A judge will rule on the dismissal motion later today.

Jackson Mahomes was on hand in court on Tuesday (May 16) for his charges of aggravated sexual battery.

As a result of his appearance, Mahomes has been allowed to contact four people that he was previously not allowed to speak with as a condition of his bond. According to TMZ, Mahomes posted a $100,000 bond to be released on May 3.

Johnson County District Judge Thomas Sunderland released the police affidavit, which states Jackson “grabbed [Aspen Vaughn] by the throat, forcing her head back and kissed her and put his tongue in her mouth.”

In a video online, Mahomes has been seen kissing the 40-year-old owner. Mahomes’ lawyer released a statement combatting the claims against Mahomes.

“We have provided law enforcement with the tools and evidence they need to evaluate the claims against Jackson. Every interaction between people needs to be placed in the proper context. Releasing a short clip of any video does not provide proper context. We have faith in the process and look forward to a swift resolution of the matter.”

Furthermore, he was reportedly charged with sexual battery relating to the February incident at the Aspen Restaurant and Lounge. According to the state of Missouri, this is defined as “A person commits the offense of sexual abuse in the first degree if he or she subjects another person to sexual contact when that person is incapacitated, incapable of consent, or lacks the capacity to consent, or by the use of forcible compulsion.”

Meanwhile, Mahomes’ attorney denied the allegations when they first arose in March. “We have provided law enforcement with the tools and evidence they need to evaluate the claims against Jackson,” Brandon Davies said in the statement. “Every interaction between people needs to be placed in the proper context.
