Drake’s Isn’t Ready For Retirement Just Yet As “Graceful Exit” Comments Are Explained

Fans were up in arms at the thought of Drake bowing out of his career. However, the full context of his comment has been shared. Earlier this week, Lil Yachty’s casual chat with one of his best friends, Drake, surfaced online. The conversation arrived courtesy of Yachty’s Futuremood brand; only a brief snippet was shared. In it, Drake seemingly pondered his “graceful exit,” which many believed was a hint at retirement.

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like, I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day,” said Drake. “But I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit.” Not much else was shared in the clip, so the context of the OVO icon’s comments was left for speculation. Now, more from that exchange has been shared, and fans are breathing easy.

Lil Yachty Question Drake About His Next Moves

Yachty asked Drake about casting vision for the next phase of his career. “A guy like you that, essentially, I feel like—and I hate, I’m not gonna say ‘has everything.’ Because no one has everything. But has accomplished so much in life and has reached so many levels, seen so many things, experienced so many things. What else is there to want? What does someone want who has—that’s not even as far as materialistic. That could be as far as anything. But what is it that, to even search for or want as a human?”

This question led to the initial soundbite circulating, but now, the remainder of Drake’s answer was also shared. “And almost just kind of—I feel like a lot of people that I’ve watched as the years have gone on, it’s a really addictive competitive space,” said Drake. “Oftentimes, you’re addicted to the competition itself. And so, sometimes it’ll baffle you. Like, why are these people still making attempts at like, trying to be present in the space? And then, you’ll realize that they probably—their needs and desires and their soul was probably fed for so long off of being ‘a guy’ or ‘the guy,’ they can’t let it go.”

Drake Is Excited About The Next Generation

Drizzy said he’s not ready for retirement just yet. But he would like “to gracefully continue making projects that are extremely interesting.” He suggested this time in his life is about considering his “graceful exit” as he looks forward to the next generation of artists. Drake Will Not Have To Sit For A Deposition In XXXTENTACION Murder Trial, Judge Rules

Over the past few years, the conspiracy theories linking Drake to XXXTENTACION’s death have been endless. There have been plenty of fan theories dissecting lyrics and music videos in an attempt to connect Drizzy to the Florida rapper’s death. Unfortunately, the Internet theories led to real-life implications and in the past two months, defense attorneys have used Drake’s name in an attempt to create some sort of doubt that the four men on trial did not actually murder XXXTENTACION.

Most recently, the attorney for Dedrick Williams, Mauricio Padilla, has tried to convince a judge that his argument requires a deposition from Drake. There’s been a back-and-forth that led to a pair of process servers facing off with Drake’s security in Calabasas. On top of that, one of the defendants, who copped a deal and turned state’s witness, confirmed on the stand that he has no ties to Drake whatsoever. Meanwhile, the rapper’s lawyer has had to appear in court to try and quash the deposition since last week, though it appears that the judge has made a definitive decision.

Judge Rules In Drake’s Favor

This week, Padilla returned to court where he addressed the judge surrounding the Drake deposition and in short, it didn’t work out for him. Padilla tried to explain the video of 600Breezy going to Florida to find XXXTENTACION supposedly on Drake’s behalf. “Counsel, then subpoena 600Breezy,” the judge informed Padilla before shutting the door on any possibility of having Drake sit down for a deposition.

“What does that have to do with someone else who you have no evidence of being involved other than hearsay and innuendo,” the judge continued. “You are now trying to just drag somebody in who’s a celebrity, who does not want to be associated with this. And to harm that individual is not inconsequential.” Padilla began to explain the connection between Breezy and Drake but clearly, the judge was fed up. “You’ve had this case since 2018. Go talk to Breezy,” he said with his hands up. Overall, Padilla’s attempt to get Drake on the stand has been an utter failure. Check the clip above.

Could Drake Be Retiring Soon?

Drake Retire

During a recent interview with friend and fellow rapper, Lil Yachty, Drake hinted at a possible retirement. If the Toronto rapper retires, it would be from an impressive two-decade career filled with noteworthy recognition in television and music. Rap superstar Drake hinted he’s facing the reality of his future by possibly considering retirement in a […]

Drake Teases A Possible Retirement From Music In New Interview With Lil Yachty

Jim Jones Makes Drake Dipset’s Official Fifth Member

Drake set the internet ablaze yesterday when a clip from his interview with Lil Yachty surfaced where the Her Loss artist hinted at a possible retirement. In the clip, Drake said that he’s been eyeballing the idea of a “graceful exit” from music.

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna like — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day. I feel like I’m kinda introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” he said in the clip.

The internet reacted in an “internet-y” fashion upon hearing the news. While some voiced that they were sad at hearing Drake might hang up his jersey, others seemed happy about it.

Maybe Drizzy has had a change of heart since the last time he answered a similar question. Last year in an interview with Nicki Minaj on Queen Radio, Drake said that retirement wasn’t even a question.

“I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option. One of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. And by the way, those things are painful as well. A lot of nerves, a lot of confidence wavering.”

He added: “But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.”

Yachty’s full interview with Drake drops today, so be sure to check it out.

Lil Yachty Reveals Origins Of Drake Friendship

Earlier this week, Lil Yachty caught up with journalists Brian “B.Dot” Miller and Elliot Wilson for Rap Radar’s latest episode. The Atlanta rapper and producer is fresh off the release of his January LP, Let’s Start Here, which friend Drake calls a certified “masterpiece.” He was even praised by Questlove for the experimental project. The Roots frontman was shocked by what he says is the “most surprising transition of any music career.” It seems Yachty’s efforts to be taken more seriously are paying off by the droves.

During the sit-down, the podcast was curious as to how Lil Boat and Drake came to grow so close. Yachty plays a huge hand on Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, with production credits on four major tracks. When asked about the opportunity, the wock-star says even a studio session would’ve sufficed at the time. ”Man, I for a very long time wanted to just do anything involving music with him,” he tells Brian and Elliot. He remembers relaying this to the 6 lyricist: “I just want to soak it up and just see how you do it. I want to see you rap…”

Lil Yachty Details His Relationship With The 6 God

After proclaiming Drake the ”greatest rapper ever,” Lil Yachty detailed his cohort’s admiration for him from the start. “He always loved my beat selection[s],” he says. Yachty goes on to discuss how Drizzy would make it a standout point whenever he dropped new music. “And that’s crazy to hear from him, you know? Especially during a time when nobody was really f**king with me.”

In spite of him not having many connections when he first began, things have certainly panned out for the rapper over the years. Yachty’s developed sound is apparent on Her Loss-produced tracks such as “BackOutsideBoyz“ and “P*ssy & Millions.” He also had the opportunity to co-produce “Privileged Rappers” and “Jumbotron Sh*t Poppin” with OVO’s Noah “40” Shebib. If it wasn’t realized by the owl tattoo on his wrist, it’s safe to say the “Poland” rhymer has been officially stamped by the crew. Earlier today, Yachty and Drake were spotted together yet again, this time on a beach as they shared a snippet of their upcoming interview, out tomorrow.

Kodak Cancels Album With Drake Over Collab With 21 Savage on “Her Loss” + Yak & 21 Savage’s Beef

Kodak Black Beef 21 Savage

Kodak Black says he no longer wishes to collaborate with Drake on an album. Yak’s sudden decision is due to the Canadian star working with 21 Savage on Her Loss, which was released in late 2022. Recently, the “Super Gremlin” artist revealed on Instagram live that he will no longer be doing a joint project […]

Drake’s Impressive New Hairdo Rocks The Logo Of His Label And Fashion Imprint OVO

Drake‘s busy after the release of his collaborative album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. He won big at the Grammys even though he didn’t submit his music; he settled a lawsuit with Vogue after their mischievous fake magazine made during the record’s promotional cycle.

Now, the rapper got a new hairdo. His hairstylist Brie Marie shared the look on social media, and it’s no joke. He flexes a braid design similar to the logo of his label and fashion imprint OVO.

“I already hear y’all now lol ‘Drake Got an Owl Braided in his head,’” she wrote in the caption. “It’s only right to make this a reality. I’d be lying if I say I don’t shock myself. [handshake emoji] TIME AND TIME Again. God thank you, you’ve truly blessed me.”

In an interview with Li Yachty, he said about Drake, “I said, ‘Man, I remember there was a point in time when you were about to release music, and everyone was like, ‘Man, I’m about to call my ex. Like, oh man, I’m finna cry,”” he said. “That was a time period. And that’s when people thought when Drake was finna drop, you thought like, ‘Oh man, I’m about to get back with my ex-girlfriend.’ You felt like emotions were about to be pulled out of you.”

Drake Admitted To Thinking About A ‘Graceful Exit’ In A Teaser For His Interview With Lil Yachty

Rappers and retirement historically don’t mix, but Drake is flirting it anyway. Lil Yachty is the latest guest on the Rap Radar podcast, but that’s been slightly overshadowed by Yachty posting a clip from “A Moody Conversation” interview with Drake for his Futuremood sunglasses company.

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day, but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” Drake told Yachty while ocean waves crashed behind them.

Yachty teased that the full episode will drop tomorrow, February 24.

Drake taking stock of his life and career was on full display during his Apollo Theater performance last month, which even featured him wearing his old Jimmy Brooks Degrassi jersey.

“I wanted to make this a show about gratitude,” Drake told his intimate Apollo audience, according to Uproxx’s review. “This is a little story that we put together. My deep love for my family, for my dear friends, and for each and every one of you who have been supporting me for a long time. […] This is my bedroom in my mom’s basement where I wrote a lot of new songs. […] I’m gonna play you some of the sh*t that got us out of here.”

Yachty recently gushed about Drake to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe while promoting his new album, Let’s Start Here.

“I love him to death,” Yachty told Lowe. “That’s my guy, man. … Our relationship has just grown so big and so tight. But that’s my guy, man. That’s my brother, man. That’s like the only person I probably talk to since I was, like, nineteen on a daily basis. Like, every single day.”

If Drake really is planning to slow down on the music front, maybe he’ll use the extra time to work on his “old-man YMCA game.”

Drake Ponder His “Graceful Exit” With Lil Yachty

A brief snippet of an interview between Drake and Lil Yachty has Hip Hop fans talking. Drake has been instrumental in creating some of the most memorable music moments within the last two decades. If his latest soundbite is to be believed, he’s working on stepping away from the industry spotlight. It’s something that seems farfetched, considering the Toronto icon has been floating at the top since his first hit. He’s gone on to be recognized as one of the best to ever do it, so his fans are in a bit of a panic.

Drizzy and Yachty sat down for Futuremood, the latter’s sunglass company. The Let’s Start Here rapper teased his episode by sharing the clip on Instagram. “A Moody Conversation ‘ / Me interviewing my best friend drizzy drake for my sunglass company @futuremoodstudios ✨full interview tmmr ✨,” wrote Yachty. In it, Drake seemingly discussed the next phase of his career.

Is Drake Looking To Close Out His Music Career?

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like, I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day,” said Drake. “But I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit.” The clip swiftly ends, but it sparked a discussion about whether or not this would be the OVO mogul’s time to bow out. However, it must be noted that this is, of course, a teaser, so Drake could be talking about bowing out of just about anything.

Meanwhile, Lil Yachty’s appearance on Rap Radar will surface this week. During the conversation, he spoke about his artistry and the controversy surrounding comments about being taken seriously as an artist. “People took it as me trying to say like, ‘Oh, I hate when rappers say I wanna be taken seriously as an artist.’ As if I was saying that, like, Rap isn’t being—you’re not serious if you’re a rapper. That’s not what I meant.”

Lil Yachty Expounds On Comments About Artistry

“I mean, specifically, I do more than rap,” he continued. “For a long time in my career, I wanted to be taken seriously as a rapper. And I said that. And I would go and try and do radio interviews, freestyles, whatever, just ’cause I wanted that. I did Michigan Boy Boat, I did things. That’s when I was trying to prove I’m a rapper. But I’m past that. Now, I’m proving I’m an artist.”
