Ice-T On “Drink Champs”: On Acting Career, Past Beefs & Much More

On the latest episode of Drink Champs with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, Ice-T popped by as their special guest for the conversation. During their talk, the went through a lot of the most important and notable aspects of the New Jersey-born and Los Angeles-raised rapper’s career. Whether it was about his history in the hip-hop game, his acting experiences, or his thoughts on the current generation, he spoke earnestly and vividly of his perspective. Specifically, some of the most interesting points of the conversation revolved around him speaking on the evolution of the genre and his interactions with artists like Tupac Shakur and when he first heard the genre. Overall, it holds a lot of enlightening stories and insights into the MC’s legendary career.

For example, Ice-T briefly addressed how he interprets different roles as an actor, especially considering his life experiences. Specifically, he spoke on the surprising similarity between portraying a police officer and playing the part of a gangster. “We all have had enough experience with the cops, you can act like a cop,” he explained. “Like when I’m on ‘Law & Order,’ right before I do the scene, I just go ‘A**hole, a**hole, a**hole, a**hole.’ And then I talk down to you. But dig this, playing a cop and playing a gangster is the exact same acting. Exact same acting. We both got a gun, we both got an attitude, we both want answers, or there will be a consequence.”

Ice-T’s Drink Champs Episode

Of course, not every story told in Ice-T’s Drink Champs episode was as serious. One funny anecdote that he told was when he tried to get ecstasy for his wife Coco Austin at a club. When a dealer recognized him, he ended up giving him about 20 tablets of MDMA. It’s unclear what he did with all that ecstasy, but at least Coco was probably pleased with getting such a large stash for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, it’s heartening to see that the Drink Champs episode went well, because the 65-year-old isn’t the biggest fan of podcasts. “Artist Public Service: Doing Interviews can be risky if you Don’t know what you’re doing…” he wrote on Twitter. “They will talk to you for hours hoping you say one thing they can TWIST and hype up for clicks.. Unfortunately most podcast have now DEVOLVED to this BS. Just sayin.” For more news and the latest updates on Ice-T and Drink Champs, stick around on HNHH.

Ras Kass Reveals How He Missed An Opportunity With Roc-A-Fella Records

Ras Kass recently did an interview with My Expert Opinion. During the interview, he explained how he believes he “fumbled” what could have been a huge opportunity. The artist says that Roc-A-Fella Records was looking to create a West Coast division of the label at the time. He shares that when Jay-Z allowed him to crash at his house in New York, a night out might have cost him a deal with Roc-A-Fella West Coast.

“I was brought out,” he began, “That was kind of the idea, you know — to bring the West Coast out.” “So I stayed at State Street — at Jay’s house in downtown Brooklyn,” Ras Kass continues. “So I came out for a summer and started recording with Jaz-O, […] I ended up going back to L.A. and just, time changed, you know what I’m saying?” The artist then continued, detailing the night he believes cost him the opportunity. “I think I was picking the wrong production, to be honest, at the time. One time, me and Jay went to the club together. And I got too drunk back then, I was drinking Hennessy and I was like, yo, we might really get down,” he explains.

Ras Kass Reflects On Roc-A-Fella West Coast Opportunity

He explains that he was nervous that a potential fight could break out, which made him drink more than usual. “So I just kept drinking Hennessy and just waiting for the war to pop off, and then he got on the mic and rhymed, and killed it, and then he called me to the mic. And I was too drunk. I think I fumbled on that one, that n***a is unforgiving. That was the one opportunity that, if I had gone back, would have changed everything.”

“I lost focus on what the end game was, which is the bars,” he explains. Ras Kass then reveals that he frequently reflects on the opportunity, considering what he could have done differently. “Remorse is the most pointless f***ing emotion ever made,” he says, “cuz you can’t fix it.”

Big Daddy Kane Says He Wants To “Build” With Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black

During a recent interview on The Big Tigger Morning Show, Big Daddy Kane discussed the future of hip hop. He revealed that he believes the key to securing the future of the genre lies in the younger generation. In light of hip hop celebrating it’s 50-year-anniversary, he claims he’d like to sit down with some younger artists to “give them [the] game.”

“To get another 50, I believe that we need to bridge that gap between the older generation and the younger generation,” Big Daddy Kane explained. He continued, describing how the older generation could provide younger artists with some valuable insight. “We had our shot, we did our thing,” he says, “we’re still around, and we have a fan base that supports us for our catalog. So we’re not trying to threaten the younger generation, not trying to replace them.”

“I would love to sit down with the likes of like Lil Uzi Vert or Kodak Black or Migos,” he continued, “any of these cats, just to build. I think that’s what’s important when there can be a connection where the past generation can talk with the future generation and give them [the] game.”

In a recent interview with HNHH, Big Daddy Kane discussed the “expiration dates” put on hip hop artists. “They call [older artists] ‘old school’ instead of Hip-Hop legends,” he explained. “In my opinion,” he continued, “it is something that needs to be done, you know? It’s something that needs to be done to show respect. And then also, for a younger generation to see the difference. I would love for the younger generation to say, ‘Damn. They don’t have all that stuff exploding and all of this and they still tore it down. Yeah, I gotta step my stage game up,‘ you know? So that they can have a longer career doing what they do.”

Lil Uzi Vert Invites Nardwuar To His House To Play Call Of Duty

Lil Uzi Vert and Nardwuar’s friendship is one of the most wholesome in all of music. The two teamed up for a classic interview in 2018 which featured many memeable moments fans still share today. Clips of Uzi being strangely scared of Nardwuar still circulate. A few days ago the two ran into each other in an absolutely adorable moment. They couldn’t help but exchange a hug and tell each other how much they’ve missed one another.

Now in a new clip, Uzi takes it a step further. As the pair discuss how they can meet up in the future, Uzi makes a proposition. The “Just Wanna Rock” rapper invites Nardwuar over to his house for dinner. Included in the offer is a chance for Uzi to teach Nardwuar how to play Call Of Duty. Nardwuar seems thrilled by the invitation and instantly agrees. While there doesn’t seem to be a set date for the exchange, fans are expecting more Uzi and Nardwuar content in the future.

Lil Uzi Vert Makes Nardwuar An Offer

Lil Uzi Vert has had a pretty busy week even beyond their interactions with Nardwuar. Over the weekend they were filmed getting into a now-viral fight with partner JT. Fans initially thought it might have had something to do with Ice Spice, but both parties quickly shut that down. Uzi shouted out Ice Spice in a song they played during the award show which is off their new album The Pink Tape. Uzi announced the long-awaited new project earlier this week.

Along with the announcement of The Pink Tape Lil Uzi Vert made some strange claims. They said that they’re a better dresser than notoriously fashionable rapper A$AP Rocky which got fans’ attention. Uzi also hosted a party in celebration of the upcoming new album, which is expected to be released tomorrow. During the party, they were photographed with rapper Trippie Redd and shown patching things up with JT. What do you think about Lil Uzi Vert’s invitation to Nardwuar? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nas Reveals He’s Already Back In The Studio

Nas has been on an incredibly prolific run over the last few years. He’s released three installments of his King’s Disease series of albums with Hit-Boy. The first one dropped in 2020 with the second edition following a year later and the third a year after that. He also found time to drop a second new album in 2021 called Magic. Each entry in the King’s Disease series have been both critical darlings and fan favorites. Now, Nas appears to be back in the studio all over again.

According to HipHopDX, the veteran rapper told Vanity Fair exactly that in a recent interview. “I’m in one of these creative growth spurts, it’s something that I’m really excited about, and it surprises me, Nas told the publication. He also clarified that he knew a burst of creativity would come eventually. “I’m not too, too surprised because I was also waiting for the day that I felt like this again, and I knew it would come.”

Nas also hinted in the interview that there could be new music coming in the King’s Disease series. He describes the series as a constant flow of music and that he doesn’t “wanna stop it once it’s flowing the way it’s flowing.” In an interview last month Nas reflected on King’s Disease III. He described rap music as “his therapist” to the Wall Street Journal. He and Hit-Boy further collaborated on a track for the producer’s new album earlier this year.

Last year, Nas teamed up with Mass Appeal for a series of EPs meant to celebrate hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. The short projects would be helmed by various producers and aim to tell the full story of the genre’s history. So far the series has dropped two EPs helmed by DJ Premier and Swizz Beatz respectfully. Nas himself has also appeared on the opening song of both projects. What do you think of Nas returning to the studio so quickly? Let us know in the comment section below.

DaBaby Claims That He Beat Cancel Culture In New Interview

In case you missed it, DaBaby has recently re-emerged following somewhat of an absence from the public light. Though he released two albums last year neither of them got a whole lot of attention. BETTER THAN YOU was a collaboration with NBA Youngboy that took a pretty harsh critical beating. Later that year he released his next solo album Baby On Baby 2 though it didn’t fare much better. Recently he’s begun popping up more and more though. His new song “SHAKE SUMN” has been a viral hit that’s hung around the back end of the Hot 100 in the month since it was released. He’s also been appearing in more and more shows, interviews, and news stories.

In a new interview recorded at the BET Awards the “ROCKSTAR” rapper claims to have beaten cancel culture. The “cancel culture” he’s referring to is the backlash to homophobic comments he made during a performance. He went on a rant during a set at Rolling Loud 2021 that critics picked apart as homophobic and in bad taste. In the following days he made comments about the rant that many saw as doubling down. Now, DaBaby is framing his return to the limelight as beating cancel culture.

DaBaby’s Thoughts On His Return

Back in May, DaBaby reflected on the homophobic outburst and his response to it. While many expected him to ultimately apologize he seemed to think he could have fought the controversy even harder. He isn’t even the first person to describe his actions as overcoming cancel culture. Just last week Fat Joe praised the rapper for reportedly coming back after being “cancelled.”

Elsewhere in this interview he discusses other subjects like Boosie BadAzz’ recent arrest on federal gun charges. He also touches on J. Cole who is now a part owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Cole was part of a group that purchased DaBaby’s hometown team from previous owner Michael Jordan. The interview is brief but manages to squeeze in a variety of DaBaby’s thoughts on numerous subjects. What do you think of DaBaby’s comments on cancel culture? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Uzi Vert Reunites With Nardwuar In Heartfelt Video

Lil Uzi Vert’s career is full of memorable moments many of which came in charming interviews. One of the best is their 2018 interview with Canadian journalist Nardwuar. The video is an absolute gold mine for memes and funny quotes. Clips and edits from their conversation are still remixed and reposted to this day. One clip in particular of Lil Uzi looking particularly scared of Nardwuar has become a fan favorite. Despite that moment the pair seem to be very good friends and reunited in a recent video.

The clip is short but it’s making the rounds because of just how wholesome it is. Lil Uzi Vert asks Nardwuar where he’s been and tells him it’s been so long since they were last together. But they quickly drop the serious tone and give Nardwuar a big hug. During the pair’s embrace, they adorably note how much they’ve missed each other. It’s a short but incredibly sweet and wholesome little moment between the two beloved figures.

Lil Uzi Vert And Nardwuar Back Together

Li Uzi Vert has been pretty busy recently. Just a few days ago they announced that their long-awaited new project The Pink Tape will be dropping very soon. The album had been teased for years but it will finally be arriving this Friday, June 30th. Alongside the news, Uzi dropped the new album cover for the project and confirmed that it will be 26 tracks long. In a strange diatribe extension of the announcement they also claimed that they dress better than A$AP Rocky.

Lil Uzi Vert also found themselves in the thick of some unexpected controversy at the BET Awards. Video of what seemed like a fight between Uzi and their partner JT surfaced online. Many fans thought it might have had something to do with Ice Spice. Since the fight, all the parties involved seem to have settled down and remained cool with each other. What do you think of Lil Uzi Vert and Nardwuar’s adorable new video? Let us know in the comment section below.

Joe Budden Prefers Gunna’s New Album To Lil Durk’s And Young Thug’s

In the wake of Gunna’s reported snitching many beefs, or supposed beefs have sparked up. One way that fans have pledged their allegiances and tried to keep score is by comparing the various artist’s new projects. Earlier this year Lil Durk dropped his new album Almost Healed. The record went on to have the biggest debut for a rap album in 2023. Two weeks ago Gunna dropped his own new album a Gift & a Curse which just debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. Just over the past weekend Young Thug dropped his album Business Is Business while still in police custody.

Many fans had their own thoughts on which album was the best, including Joe Budden. “They can’t trick me with their little rap conditioning and rap ideologies, f*ck outta here. That Gunna shit sound good,” Budden said. The “trick” seems to be referring to many fans claiming Gunna’s music is bad or that they won’t listen to it simply because he took a plea deal in the ongoing YSL RICO case. Joe Budden went even further saying that Gunna had the best album of the trio. “It’s better than all of them with no features and no Metro Boomin, with no help and no support. He did it!”

Joe Budden Weighs In On Gunna’s Album

This isn’t the only beef Joe Budden has weighed into recently. On an episode of his podcast featuring Jim Jones, the rapper called out Clipse’s rappers Pusha T and No Malice. The beef originally dates back to Jones claiming that Pusha T didn’t belong on a recent list of the Top 50 Rappers of all time. Pusha T escalated the conflict with lyrics directed at Jones from a song he debuted during Pharrell’s recent Louis Vuitton fashion show.

In a recent video Gunna posted to his Instagram story he thanked fans for the success of his new album. The video highlighted the record’s streaming numbers and chart debuts. It also pointed out that Gunna had the highest first-week sales for an album with no features since 2021. What do you think of Joe Budden’s take on Gunna’s new album? Let us know in the comment section below.

Coi Leray Says There Are No Friends In The Industry & Rap Is A Competition

Coi Leray recently sat down for an enlightening conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1’s Rap Life Radio. On it, they discussed a whole host of topics, ranging from her brand new sophomore album to industry relationships. While the Boston native remarked that a lot of industry people know each other and stay at least amicable, she doesn’t believe that there are any true friendships in the industry. Rather, it’s still a competition at the end of the day, but she didn’t seem to suggest so in a disloyal or backstabbing manner. Instead, Coi emphasized that this should be a friendly competition, and that genuine connections can form.

“I mean, look, the other side of it is, you know, everybody ain’t got to be friends, but we can all be positive,” Ebro remarked. “One thousand percent,” Coi Leray agreed. “Nobody’s friends, we don’t know each other in real life, you feel me? If we meet in person and, you know, we have a genuine relationship from there organically, then whatever. But I don’t think no one’s friends. I think, at the end of the day, it is a competition here, not everybody can be number one. But at the same time, it should be friendly competition. If we all on the same track team, and it’s time to race, and we practicing, I’m dusting you even though you my right hand. But it’s time to race, we got practice. But respectfully, you know? That’s how I look at it.”

Coi Leray’s Remarks On A Competitive Industry

Interestingly enough, another topic of conversation that came up in the interview was Latto’s line about the “Bops” hitmaker’s body on “Put It On Da Floor.” As she remarked on the situation and her reaction, she alluded to similar themes. “It’s not a sensitive conversation,” Coi Leray reflected. “I feel like it wasn’t more about the body, it was more of mentioning my name. I’m about positivity. For real. And I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. And not only that, I feel like the problem with our community today is we be so quick to try to change things but we don’t do nothing to actually change anything.

“So if we’re going to say we’re going to stop talking about bodies, then don’t mention anything about my body,” she went on. “Just period. Don’t compare me to nothing, don’t think about nothing. We’re not smoking on anything, it’s disrespect. And where I come from I just don’t like that. I don’t know, it’s starting to get old. The rap beefs are for the guys. You know, I don’t even think they should do it. Us artists, we kind of control the narrative. So if we just spend more time pushing that narrative we won’t give these headlines and these blogs no reason to go ahead and push this negative narrative. That’s something we got to come together on.” For more on Coi Leray, stick around on HNHH.

Tyrese Details Divorce Process

For those unaware, screen star and R&B artist Tyrese is undergoing thorough quite the arduous divorce process with his ex-wife Samantha Lee. Not only that, but the actor vocalized his thoughts and process throughout this process quite strongly, whether on social media or in press conversations. Most recently, he called his relationship with his ex-wife “just a transaction” as their court battle rages on. On that side of things, the Fast & Furious star expressed a will to challenge the judge’s decision to have him pay $650,000 in child support and legal fees to Samantha and her team. During an interview with The Shade Room at the BET Awards on Sunday (June 25), he answered a question about an update concerning his legal stance and where the courtroom’s at right now.

“Well, everything is being appealed,” Tyrese remarked. “Like, everything. You know, I don’t want to get into the legal rabbit hole. But I can just tell y’all to keep it simple. If you argue about the validity of a pre-nuptial agreement, then it’s considered a contested- that’s legal language. If we not arguing about the prenup or the validity of the prenup, it’s non-contested. Nothing to talk about. But if it’s contested, then we’re trying to creatively argue about the validity of this paperwork that we did.

Tyrese’s Update On His Divorce In Court

“So yeah, all of those legal fees, everything that’s been going on from the beginning,” Tyrese went on. “We have paperwork that says, ‘If this marriage were to ever fall apart, we have a pre-nuptial.’ Prior to the nuptials, that’s been established. So they cracked it. They cracked the prenup. Yeah, so everything is about to get reversed, flipped. All of my legal fees from the day that she filed, it’s all going to drop on her head. It’s coming.”

Meanwhile, this process proved to be a much more divisive affair among fans than you might expect. In fact, other celebrities like Snoop Dogg have chimed in as well, with the MC publicly supporting the 44-year-old amid his mental health struggles. Only time will tell if this legal procedure gets messier or calmer as their settlement develops. On that note, for more news and the latest updates on Tyrese, come back to HNHH.
