Rick Ross Hilariously Roasts Shannon Sharpe Over IG Live Controversy

Shannon Sharpe was the talk of the internet on September 11. Which is saying a lot. Besides the obvious significance of the date, social media was ablaze with VMA hot takes and new Kendrick Lamar songs. We did not expect to hear Sharpe having sex via Instagram Live, and yet, it happened. The commentator got on his Night Cap podcast to address the controversy, and apologize to his followers. Despite his earnest response, celebs like Rick Ross couldn’t resist getting their jokes in.

Rick Ross took to Instagram Live to poke fun at Sharpe’s social media mishap. The rapper went for a night stroll and took a few comical. jabs at the commentator’s misfortune. “We forgive you,” he stated. “Because we know you old n**gas don’t know how to work that technology.” Rick Ross is only eight years younger than Shannon Sharpe, but sure. Rozay proceeded to detail what he thinks happened between Sharpe and his unidentified partner. “You were trying to film it,” the rapper said, alluding to Sharpe’s “activities.” “And when you tried to set it down on the dresser, that motherf*cka went live.”

Rick Ross got a good laugh out of his theory, but Shannon Sharpe’s explanation was not quite as exciting. Sharpe claimed that he threw his phone on the bed prior to engaging in sexual activity, and simply hit a button by accident. Sharpe doubled down on his claim by noting that he’s never posted on Instagram Live before this incident. “I’m very disappointed in myself I let a lot of people down,” Sharpe asserted. There was immediate speculation as to whether there would be repercussions for Sharpe’s IG Live fiasco.

Fortunately, for him, ESPN has decided not to take action. Sharpe was absent from ESPN’s First Take show on Thursday, which furthered the online speculation, but TMZ set the record straight. The outlet noted that Shannon Sharpe typically has Thursday and Friday off from First Take, and is expected to return on Monday, September 16. Furthermore, ESPN has no plans to punish or fire the commentator. Fans everywhere can relax, and simply laugh at the situation like Rick Ross did.

Lil Tay In The ICU For “Life-Threatening Emergency,” Her Social Media Accounts Claim

Last night, various posts on Lil Tay’s social media accounts left her supporters extremely concerned. “We have devastating news regarding Tay,” one Tweet read. This was followed by another claiming she was in the ICU in “serious condition.” At the time of writing, it remains unclear exactly what landed the personality in the hospital. Hopefully, she’ll be able to get the treatment she needs quickly and make a full recovery.

With that being said, not everybody thinks that the account is being truthful. Various X users are accusing her of faking this health emergency for publicity. One community note left on the announcement, for example, encouraged readers not to believe it. “Lil Tay rent due again,” it said. “Don’t fall for this.” Her account later responded to this, slamming whoever wrote the note for downplaying the dire situation.

“This community note is by a random kid, the note is extremely immoral and hateful,” they wrote. “Especially as Lil Tay is dealing with a life-threatening emergency. ‘Due again’ .. last time her abusive father faked her death.” The account was referencing a viral scandal that took place last year when Lil Tay’s Instagram account announced that she and her brother had passed away. This was later proven false, and Meta confirmed that her account had been hacked.

“During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation,” the announcement read. Kendrick Lamar Has More Disses For Drake On Mysterious New Song

Kendrick Lamar like to do things in one fell swoop. Drake, his enemy throughout 2024, likes to do a lot. Memes, IG Stories, AI diss songs, etc. Lamar will go silent for weeks, maybe even months, then drop an absolutely devastating track. He did it again on September 11. The rapper came out of his “Not Like Us” hiatus and dropped a five minute epic on his Instagram. There’s no title or mention of Drake’s name, but there are plenty of bars that are clearly aimed at the 6 God throughout. Let’s unpack them.

Let’s start with the opening verse. The first line Kendrick Lamar utters is “I think it’s time to watch the party die.” This is a direct reference to a line in Lamar’s scathing “Meet the Grahams” diss. Towards the end of the song, he mentions crashing Drake’s “party” by uncovering all of the rapper’s flaws. The next few bars also seem squarely aimed at Drizzy. “This sh*t done got too wicked to apologize,” Lamar raps.
“It’s different, get him whacked and disqualified.” The first part seemingly references the fact that kids and significant others were dragged into the Drake battle. The second part doubles down on the idea that Drake shouldn’t have a seat at the table when it comes to the all time greats.

The song functions as a broader take on what Kendrick Lamar was rapping about on “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” He’s effectively taking the rap game to task for allowing Drake to take over. He hates what the genre has become, and wants to start over. In this sense, the song is both a Drake diss and a diss to the industry (i.e. the “party”) that made Drake. The rest of the first verse makes this abundantly clear. “Why argue with these clowns if the circus is well at work,” he asks. “Just walk that man down, that’ll do everyone a solid. It’s love but tough love, sometimes gotta result in violence.”

A full breakdown of the song would balloon this article to dissertation length. Kendrick Lamar seemingly throws digs at Drake’s past courtesy of a “Star67” reference. He also asks Drake where his soldiers are at, after the Toronto rapper made reference to being a general in the song “The Heart Part 6.” Kendrick is taking a different approach here, but it’s no less cutting. He’s got a lot more to get off his chest when it comes to Drake, and this new song proves it.

Shannon Sharpe went viral for all the wrong reasons on Wednesday morning. The sports commentator accidentally posted an Instagram Live video in which he was suspected to be having sex with a woman. The internet was stunned, obviously, and Sharpe rushed a statement out following the post. He claimed to have been hacked, and assured fans he was working to remedy the situation. That wasn’t true. Sharpe cleared the air during his evening appearance on the Night Cap podcast.

Shannon Sharpe confirmed that his Instagram was not actually hacked. He admitted that the IG Live was a mistake, and that he was deeply embarrassed once he realized what happened. “I’m very disappointed in myself I let a lot of people down,” the ex-athlete explained. “My kids, I reached out to them. I called my sister, my friends obviously reached out.” Shannon Sharpe clarified that the IG Live video that went viral was not staged. He went on to detail the circumstances in which the accidental stream occurred. “I came in, threw my phone on the bed,” he recalled. “And then engaged in an activity.”

The Club Shay Shay host also addressed the false report that his account had been hacked. He noted that his team cut the stream up and quickly threw together a post to address the incident. Once Sharpe had time to reflect on the incident, however, he determined it was best to be honest. He admitted that he made a mistake, and asked fans to forgive him. The former is the self-proclaimed “biggest hater.” The latter has been described by many as the biggest Drake fan there is. DJ Akademiks let his bias shine through all throughout the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar beef, and it looks like the Candyman took note. Lamar just dropped off an untitled song, and in it he seemingly takes shots at the internet personality. It didn’t take long for Ak to panic.

There are lots of dense bars to get through on Lamar’s latest. The ones that seem most clear, though, are the ones fans have interpreted as being about DJ Akademiks. “Influencers talk down ’cause I’m not with the basic sh*t,” Lamar raps. “But they don’t hate me, they hate the man that I represent / The type of man that never d*ck ride ’cause I want a favor.” Ak is definitely an influencer, and has been accused of riding a little too hard for Drake over the years. DJ Akademiks makes a living off being first to these surprise drops, so it wasn’t going to take long for him to hear it. He didn’t take it well. The internet personality dropped a comment on Lamar’s Instagram that made his discomfort with the situation crystal clear. “No no noooo,” he wrote. We get it. Being the target of a Kendrick Lamar diss has to be horrifying. That said, DJ Akademiks has been in this situation before. Lamar called out Ak by name on “6:16 In LA,” which dropped at the height of the Drake diss.

DJ Akademiks elaborated on his thoughts via during his Wednesday night live stream. Kendrick Lamar Surprise Drops New Song On Instagram

Kendrick Lamar did it again. The rapper who proclaims himself Candyman has come out of nowhere and dropped off a five minute song. No context, no rollout. Not even a title. The rapper just put the song up on Instagram. It’s the first Lamar song that hasn’t been a direct Drake diss in over seven months. That said, there are plenty of bars littered throughout the song that suggest he still has a bone to pick with the 6 God.

Lamar’s timing is fascinating. The rapper has become centered in a controversy involving the Super Bowl Halftime Show after it was announced he would headline the event in 2025. After pleasing virtually every listener that wasn’t a Drake fan, Lamar found himself on the wrong side of a media narrative. It’s difficult to tell whether the Halftime Show led to the release of this new song, but it definitely feels connected. K. Dot sounds weary as he raps over a wailing vocal sample. There’s barely a chorus, and instead he goes off on a series of unnamed targets.

Kendrick Lamar has no problem calling other people out by name. “Control,” the 2013 song that basically kickstarted the Drake feud, named over a dozen rappers. It then feels intentional that Lamar chose not to go the direct route on the new song. He takes a more subtle approach, and lets the listener put together the clues. There’s a lot of bars to sift through here. That said, we’d be shocked if there weren’t at least a few that could apply to Drake. After going back and forth for a couple of days, Chris said that they smoothed things out. However, just two days ago, he decided to restart their beef for some reason.

This time, he proudly stated that he is the better artist at this point in his career and would outperform him. “You cannot out rap me. You do not make better music than me right now. Song making, he don’t make better songs than me. If 50 was to make a song right now and I make a song right now I’mma smash that s***. I make music way better than 50 Cent. I know it’s a fact”. He reshared a clip from that same Vlad TV interview when he was talking about Louisiana’s lackluster educational system. In that segment, Chris pronounced “educational” incorrectly and that was all the ammo that 50 needed to disprove any of the former’s claims. “ this is what happens when the edunacational system fails you IN THE 50 states of America. Drake Continues To Show Lil Wayne Support Amidst Halftime Show Debate

Drake has said plenty in 2024. The rapper fired back at basically every big rapper in the industry on his wave of diss tracks. Since then knockout punch that was Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” though, Drake has opted for a different approach. He’s become an Instagram guy. He resorted to posting photos and messages that suggest what he’s feeling without coming out and saying. This has been evident in the wake of the Kendrick Lamar battle. It’s also been evident since the whole Super Bowl Halftime Show fiasco hit the internet.

Roc Nation announced that Lamar would be headlining the Halftime Show in New Orleans in 2025. The hip hop community was mad. Dozens of industry insiders came out and claimed that Lil Wayne should have been given the opportunity to perform in front of his hometown. Drake seemingly agrees. The day the Lamar news hit, Drake posted a photo of the Young Money crew on his Instagram Story. A day later, the 6 God doubled down and dropped two additional photos of Lil Wayne. Neither photo had a caption, but they featured prime Weezy circa Tha Carter III.

The second photo, in particular, looks to be taken from the music video for Wayne’s iconic “A Milli.” Drake has always made it clear that Wayne changed his life and career for the better. It is worth noting, though, that the rapper has multiple reasons for wanting to champion a Weezy Halftime Show. For one, Lil Wayne leading a Halftime Show would likely mean guest appearances from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Drake. It would be a major moment for the trio, who have taken some pretty high profile L’s over the last few years.

Drake feeding into the Lil Wayne narrative also vilifies the man who is actually headlining the Halftime Show. Kendrick Lamar has been the golden boy of hip hop throughout 2024, because Drake is an easy person to hate. He’s been on top for too long. Pitting Lamar against Wayne is a different story, though. Weezy is respected across the board, and Lamar has even cited him as one of his main influences. Southside Hints At New Playboi Carti Collab With Surprising IG Reunion

Playboi Carti is up to something. He always is, but it seems like he’s actually getting close to sharing what said something is with the fans. The world has been waiting on Carti’s third studio album since 2020, with very little to go on in terms of updates. All this has changed in the last month, though. The rapper known for being secretive started posting regularly on Instagram. He showed up to accept an award at a Billboard ceremony. And on September 10th, Carti made a rare appearance on Southside’s Instagram.

The two men seemingly linked up to celebrate Playboi Carti’s Billboard award. “My youngin won his first award,” the producer stated. “I’m overly proud of you kid.” It was the way Southside concluded his post, however, that really got fans excited. He hinted that there is plenty more Carti music coming in the near future. “Many more to come,” he teased. Very little is actually know about Playboi Carti’s upcoming album, but the notion of Carti and Southside linking up on said album is actually more novel than you might.

Southside has known Playboi Carti for years, as his caption would suggest. The two collaborated on the 2018 song “Ain’t Doin’ That,” but their collab history has been surprisingly limited since. They had some musical camaraderie on their one song, but Southside has spent more time working with guys like Kodak Black and Future. The reunion photo between the producer and Playboi Carti could be just that, a photo of two artists reuniting, but it could also be a teaser for new songs. Especially when you take Southside’s caption into account.

Of course, it’s all subject to change. Playboi Carti has admitted that his recording process is not normal in any sense. The rapper recently told Billboard that he will live in the studio, and go more off of feel than anything else. “It’s all based on confidence. I believe in myself,” Carti explained. “The moment I started recording, someone came to me and said that they like my songs. I stay in the studio every day.” The fact that the rapper is making public statements at all is a good sign. Hopefully we get to to hear some new Carti and Southside sooner than later.
