What Is The Nominations Window For The 2024 Grammys?

The nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards will be unveiled in just a few days, on November 10. In the meantime, fans wait in excitement to see if their favorite artists, songs, and albums will receive an acknowledgment from the Recording Academy. Beyond that, the winners will be revealed when the ceremony airs on February 4, 2024.

However, worth considering before all that is the window of time that a piece of work must have been released between that would make it acceptable for consideration. The current nomination window looks at everything from October 1, 2022 to September 15, 2023. (As an example, this means that while Taylor Swift’s Midnights would be in the running, her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would be included as a possibility for 2025, as it missed the 2024 cut-off.)

Another thing to note is that, according to the Recording Academy’s official website, the recordings had to be “commercially released” in the United States to be considered. Once the nominations are out, voters of the Academy will then cast their ballots for the final round of voting. For more about the selection process, visit their official website here.

The Recording Academy will be livestreaming the nomination announcement both on its official website and on YouTube. More information on how to watch the 2024 Grammy nomination ceremony can be found here.

King Isis’ ‘Make It Up’ Video Is A Spooky Look At The Singer’s Idea Of A Halloween-Themed Lover’s Quarrel

Halloween 2023 is here. While most recording artists — including Ice Spice, Megan Thee Stallion, and Uproxx cover star Chlöe — are focused on their over-the-top costumes, King Isis is interested solely in providing the soundtrack for the evening. The artist’s spooky spirit is at the center of their latest single, “Make It Up.”

For the official video, the musician fully embraced the ghoulish theme associated with the holiday as they finds themselves caught in a battle for the heart of a vampire.

“Waves we undo / Crash and renew / What’s it take for you / Shades of your blue / Sink in my shoes / Drowning in your hues / Still see you in my rear view no I can’t keep running from / Release you I still bleed you hold me like another crutch / I don’t wanna know or let it go how hard it was,” sings King Isis.

In a statement shared with Clash Magazine, they shared the inspiration behind the track. “I wrote the first version of this song at home in Oakland, going through lows in love and life,” King Isis said. “I was experimenting with darker production and more droney melodies, which I felt encompassed the monotonous feeling of just getting through the motions that were my life at the time.”

Anybody who thought the vinyl resurgence was just a fad was mistaken: The industry has experienced a legitimate revival. As a result, music fans are interested in physical media in ways they may not have if the decades-old medium hasn’t made a comeback. That doesn’t mean everybody is listening to just their parents’ old music, though. That’s part of it, sure, thanks to rereleases that present classic albums in new ways. A vital part of the renewed vinyl wave, though, is new projects being released as records, of which there are plenty.

Taylor Swift Is Once Again No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 And ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ Hasn’t Even Hit The Charts Yet

Every Monday, Billboard unveils the top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart. The most recent rankings, for the chart dated November 4, are out now, so let’s run down who had this week’s biggest hits.

10. Gunna — “F*kumean”

This week’s top-10 songs are mostly the same as last week but shuffled around some, except for “F*kumean,” the only top-10 song that wasn’t in the region last week. The song, which previously peaked at No. 4, wasn’t far off, though, as it was No. 11 in last week’s ranks.

9. Bad Bunny — “Monaco”

Bad Bunny’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana single was the biggest chart debut last week, entering the chart at No. 5. This week, though, it’s nearly out of the top 10.

8. Drake — “IDGAF” Feat. Yeat

“IDGAF” had a big opening week at No. 2 a couple weeks ago, but it’s been gradually working its way down the Hot 100 after falling to No. 4 this week and now No. 8 this frame.

7. Morgan Wallen — “Thinkin’ Bout Me”

This Wallen song and the next one on this list at No. 6 continue their massive climbs over the past couple weeks: “Thinkin’ Bout Me” rose from No. 25 to No. 10 and now to No. 7, a return sparked by Drake’s For All The Dogs songs leaving the top 10.

6. Morgan Wallen — “Last Night”

Similarly, “Last Night,” a former No. 1, rose from No. 19 to No. 9 and now it’s flirting with re-entering the top 5 at No. 6.

5. Luke Combs — “Fast Car”

2023 has been good to Tracy Chapman: She owns both the writer’s and publisher’s share of her song “Fast Car,” so Combs’ successful cover has been lining her pockets for the past few months.

4. Zach Bryan — “I Remember Everything” Feat. Kacey Musgraves

“I Remember Everything” continues to be a multi-genre hit, as it’s No. 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts for an ninth week and the Hot Country Songs chart for a fifth time.

3. SZA — “Snooze”

“Snooze” hasn’t quite hit No. 1, but it’s been dominating the Hot R&B Songs chart, where it’s No. 1 for the 13th week.

2. Doja Cat — “Paint The Town Red”

“Paint The Town Red” is perhaps Doja Cat’s biggest hit of her career, as it’s her only song to spend more than one week at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Even this week, it’s still thriving at No. 2.

1. Taylor Swift — “Cruel Summer”

1989 (Taylor’s Version) is only a few days old so it hasn’t hit the charts yet, but Swift didn’t need it to claim No. 1 this week thanks to “Cruel Summer.” It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the Hot 100 next week, though: On release day, the album’s songs occupied the top 21 spots of the daily Spotify songs chart for the US, and subsequent daily charts have been pretty much the same story.

How To Livestream The Grammys 2024 Nominations Announcement

In just a few days on November 10, artists like Kim Petras, Jeff Tweedy, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and more will be uniting to unveil the nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards. Given that fans have been waiting to see if their favorites will get a nod in any of the major categories, they also might be wondering how to livestream the announcement.

Here’s what to know.

On that day, fans will be able to watch the Grammy nominees get revealed through a stream that will run on both YouTube and their official website here. The ceremony will start by announcing the general and then select categories.

According to Billboard, this year the awards show is limiting the number of nominees in categories like Album Of The Year and more down to just 8. (It used to be up to 10.) Rounding out the general awards are Song Of The Year; Record Of The Year; Best New Artist; and now, the added Producer Of The Year; Non-Classical; and Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical.

The Grammy nominations pre-show will start at 10:45 a.m. ET. At 11, the livestream event will then kick off and will run until 11:25 a.m. ET. For those who miss the stream, the nominees will be posted online immediately after it finishes.

Then, the 2024 Grammy Awards will be held on February 4, 2024, where the winners will be revealed.

Here’s The Full List Of Nominations For The 2023 Billboard Music Awards

Billboard unveiled their full list of finalist nominees, ahead of the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, November 19. Taylor Swift leads the nominations with nods in 20 different categories. SZA and Morgan Wallen follow her close behind, as both are tied at 17.

The finalists, according to The Hollywood Reporter, were determined by the “year-end performance metrics” on the different charts.

Here’s How Much Spotify Will Pay Smaller Artists Per Stream In 2024

According to a new report from Billboard, Spotify is apparently going to be paying even less to smaller artists when it comes to streams next year. This is due to a plan to restructure the company’s royalty system and it “will de-monetize tracks that had previously received 0.5% of Spotify’s royalty pool.”

This comes with a new threshold of “minimal annual streams” that songs need to meet before they can even start receiving the minimum amount of royalties. Another change is that there will be “financial penalties” for labels and distributors when it comes to creating fraudulent streaming activity on songs.

Finally, there is a minimum play-time length for all non-music uploads, with examples listed as nature sounds or “white noise.”

So, how much exactly will Spotify be paying artists for 2024?

Right now, it is still unclear when it comes to the exact amount. The streaming platform has been suspected to only pay artists a few cents per stream. However, they reject this on their company website, pointing out that they just “distribute the net revenue,” without an exact number range.

“We’re always evaluating how we can best serve artists, and regularly discuss with partners ways to further platform integrity,” a Spotify spokesperson told Billboard about the changes. “We do not have any news to share at this time.”

These Are The Best Alternatives For Spotify Wrapped That You Can Use Right Now

Spotify is getting closer to dropping its annual Wrapped feature, which typically arrives in late November or early December. While tracking for it ends after this month, users can technically get a preview of what their most-listened-to lists will look like by using some alternatives.

First, if you’re feeling chaotic, there is a program called “How Bad Is Your Spotify?” that is an AI bot that looks at your Spotify listening history, and then proceeds to ridicule you for your choices. It also works for Apple Music users, so no one feels left out. (I got roasted a ton for too much Taylor Swift.)

For those who aren’t feeling like being judged on a Tuesday afternoon, there is Instafest, which takes your favorite artists based on streams and turns them into a Coachella-style festival lineup. There’s a high chance you’ve probably seen these on social media, and thought, “How do I get tickets to that?”

And if you’re into pie charts, there’s an alternative called Spotify Pie. This shows your most-played genres over the past month.

Last, but not least, there’s a program called N-Gen that turns your listening history into different types of artwork. There are options for a DNA-style display, some sound waves, a flower, and more.
