Kim Kardashian Jokes About “Scamming The System” To Achieve Fame On “The Kardashians” Season Finale

Kim Kardashian had a witty observation about the heights the famous family had risen to as Season 4 of The Kardashians wound down. “Guys, we scammed the system. We did it! Whatever it is, we figured it out and did it! We put in some hard work,” Kim joked as part of her toast to Scott Disick on his 40th birthday. Elsewhere, Kris Jenner also joked that that Disick had been around since “Season 1, Episode 1”.

Of course, the secret to the Kardashian’s success is not as mysterious as Kim makes it out to be. The young family was attached to two of the biggest faces of the 1980s and 90s (Robert Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner). As the 90s became the 2000s, Kim firmly enshrined herself in the contemporary It Girl culture, being seen alongside Paris Hilton at the height of Hilton’s own fame. Then the WGA went on strike in 2007. And as networks scrambled to produce unscripted content with the writers on strike, there was Kim. Who better to focus a reality show around than the It Girl daughter of OJ’s lawyer who recently just starred in a sex tape, one of the first viral videos of the “new internet”? The rest is history – reality TV stuck around and once the foot is in the door, it’s very easy to keep it there.

Kim Reveals Secret Tattoo

Kim’s main character status has really fallen off throughout this latest season of The Kardashians. While early episodes were dedicated to the fallout of her divorce from Kanye West, later episodes elevated Kourtney’s beef with Tristan Thompson to the show’s “A Plot”. However, that isn’t to say that the season has been entirely Kim-less. In an early November episode of the show, Kim gave a crucial update on her dating intentions. Across the episode, Kim reiterated her desire to remain single for at least two years, noting that she was about halfway through that goal after breaking up with Pete Davidson. “I’ve got a year to go. I think that will be really good for me. [I’m] not looking, they seem to find me, but I’m not looking!” Kim declared.

Elsewhere, Kim also revealed a secret tattoo that she has kept hidden from everyone but her family. Kim pulled down her lower lip to reveal a small infinity symbol. According to Kim, she got the tattoo during an impromptu 4:30am inking session after hosting SNL for the first time. Furthermore, the tattoo goes against Kim’s famous opposition to tattoos, at least for herself. “You wouldn’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley,” the SKIMS founder once famously declared.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Is Following The NFL’s Footsteps By Luring In Taylor Swift Fans To Juice Ratings

Do you hear the faint jingling of several thousand sequins? That’s the Taylor Swift night on Dancing With The Stars coming soon to a screen near you.

It’s maybe a slight coincidence but let’s break down some facts: the Kansas City Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles on ABC next Monday, the day before DWTS. We know that Swift has been showing up to some recent games, and the NFL has been using Swiftian Concepts for their own personal benefit, so is it really far-fetched to believe DWTS is using Swift’s God-like status as a way to boost viewership after a lackluster season? You decide!

The long-running dancing competition will feature Swift’s Eras Tour choreographer Mandy Moore (not that one) as a special guest judge for its “Celebration Of Taylor Swift” night on Tuesday, November 21st. The six remaining couples will shake it off to various Swift cuts. If you ever wanted to see the likes of Alyson Hannigan and Jason Mraz battle it out on the Swift-inspired dance floor, now is your chance. Also, you must be from the year 2008, welcome.

While there is no confirmation that Swift will appear at the Chiefs game or even acknowledge the Dancing With The Stars night, she will be in Argentina this weekend, so maybe we can give her a day off from running through everyone’s brains.

Coolio’s Final Episode Of ‘Futurama’ Includes A New Song And A Sweet Tribute To The Rapper

Coolio was, first and foremost, a rapper. But the “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “C U When U Get There” legend was also an actor. His long filmography includes Fox-then-Comedy Central-then-Hulu’s Futurama, where he voiced Kwanzaa-Bot. Before his death last September at 59 years old, he recorded a final appearance as Kwanzaa’s counterpart to Robot Santa and the Chanukah Zombie. That episode, “I Know What You Did Next Xmas,” premiered today on Hulu.

In one scene, Kwanzaa-Bot and the Chanukah Zombie try to teach some kids that there’s “a holiday for everyone,” but all they care about is X-Mas (don’t call it Christmas). Kwanzaa-Bot later returns in a post-credits scene, which you can watch above, where Coolio raps his “Futurama Xmas list for 3023.”

The song goes:

Gimme 12 Slurms a-slurping
11 Benders burping
10 episodes dropping
9 Scruffys mopping
8 Leelas drinking
7 Zoidbergs stinking
Chanukah and Kwanzaa, share a single stanza
Time traveling chumps
A 40 ounce of nog
Fry’s dead dog
2 turtle-duckens
And a voice over credit for me

The episode ends with a sweet tribute:

hulu

“All of us at Futurama send our sincere condolences to Coolio’s family, friends, and fans. He was one of our favorite guests, always upbeat,” Futurama producer David X. Cohen said when Coolio died. “This news was especially shocking since he looked and sounded great when we saw him in the studio just a few weeks ago, for what was an especially fun session. I thanked him for returning to do the part once again, and he said, ‘Everybody loves KwanzaaBot.’ It was an honor to have gotten the chance to work with him.”

You can watch Futurama on Hulu. Check out more below:

Tupac’s Father Disappointed With Hulu’s “Dear Mama” Docuseries

In a recent interview, Tupac’s biological father, Billy Garland, shared his thoughts on Hulu’s docuseries on his son. Garland told The Art Of Dialogue that he initially denied an interview for the documentary, but was later convinced by director Allen Hughes. He stated that he didn’t know the footage itself would be used in Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni & Tupac Shakur, and was disappointed when he saw it in the series.

“We did an interview for about two hours,” he explained. Garland went on to say, “After I saw the interview in the documentary, I was slightly disappointed, let’s just say that. I didn’t like it. It was more about something else, than about 2Pac, if you know what I’m saying. If I knew it was about ‘Dear Mama,’ I might’ve still did it, but I probably wouldn’t have. Not for nothing.” Later on in the interview, he discussed being asked if his son was bipolar, to which he responded that didn’t think so.

Garland’s Interview

It was also recently announced that Tupac will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, shared a statement with LA Times about the star. “Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary,” she said. Martinez added, “This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

The fact that the icon is only now receiving a star confused various social media users and artists. “It took them 25 years + to give Tupac a star on Hollywood Blvd? Y’all got him f****ed all the way up,” YG wrote on Twitter. Boosie Badazz also shared his thoughts, writing, “Tupac ain’t ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME?” He added, “WTF THE DISRESPECT. Don’t worry he saying F**K YALL from the Grave.”

“Flamin’ Hot” Tells The Story Of America’s Favorite Spicy Chip

Do you know how Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were invented? According to Richard Montañez, he invented them while working as a janitor at a Frito-Lay factory in Rancho Cucamonga. He was inspired by the spicy flavors of Latine street food and then took the bold step of calling the chief executive of Frito-Lay himself. He went from janitor to executive to motivational speaker by embracing his heritage and believing in himself. The debut of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos came at a time when PepsiCo was fighting for its life on multiple fronts of the food and beverage market. The company needed a product that could compete with the Anheuser-Busch-owned Eagle Snacks brand.

Now, there are claims that his story is a complete fabrication. Frito-Lay claims that the iconic, neon-red chip was created by a product committee in 1989. This was in order to fight Eagle Snacks in the Midwest. More specifically, it was in order to capitalize on the rise of inner-city bodegas. To be clear, Montañez did rise from plant worker to marketing director. Frito-Lay just refutes that he invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. But where’s the fun in corporate brand marketing?

“Flamin’ Hot” Tells Montañez’s Side Of The Story

Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) brings Montañez’s origin story of the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto to life in her directorial debut. This is the story of a former gang member trying to turn his life around. With the Frito-Lay factory where he works under threat of closure, Montañez embraces the “it burns in a good way” spiciness of Latine cuisine to create a snack that will save the factory.

Jesse Garcia (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) stars as Montañez. He’s a family man with a troubled past and a heart of gold. Annie Gonzalez stars as Montañez’s ever-supportive wife, Judy. Additionally, there are big-name actors in major supporting roles. Dennis Haysbert (Far From Heaven, 24) plays Clarence, a fellow janitor who helps Montañez find his courage. Meanwhile, Tony Shalhoub (Monk, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) takes on the role of Pepsico executive and Cheetos brand manager, Roger Enrico. While its authenticity may be questionable, Flamin’ Hot is set to be a heart-warming and tongue-tingling look at believing in yourself. Flamin’ Hot comes to Hulu on June 9.

Hulu Set To Take Viewers Inside The World Of The 2000s It Girl

In the early 2000s, New York was the place to be. And found within the upmarket boutiques and clubs of Manhattan were the 2000s It Girls. You probably know most of them by name and reputation – Tinsley Mortimer, Olivia Palermo, Paris Hilton, Anna-Nicole Richtie. They were the women, socialities, and celebrities that defined the era’s style. While It Girls had been prominent before the 2000s, the decade brought with it a new style of trendsetter. This was the domain of the New York heiress.

But while many of them flourished in the national press, many more were only known to those who looked hard enough and long enough. But all of that, and people who inadvertently launched these women into stardom and infamy, is about to be revealed in a new Hulu documentary.

Hulu Releases First Trailer For “Queenmaker: The Making of an It Girl”

Queenmaker: The Making of an It Girl is set to peel back the veneer and sheen of 2000s high society. The documentary is set to take us back to the era made famous by both the tabloids and shows like Gossip Girl. Brought to life by trans filmmaker Zackary Drucker (I Am Cait), the documentary draws you in with its feature interviews and nostalgic vibe before revealing its true purpose. Queenmaker: The Making of an It Girl isn’t about the It Girls themselves. Instead, the documentary pivots to focus on the people who launched these women into the national eye. It explores the rise of personal blogging and looks at the likes of Gawker and Perez Hilton.

However, its main focus is the story behind Park Avenue Peerage, a blog with seemingly unparalleled access to the inner circle. Furthermore, the site became a notorious ranker of who was “it” and who wasn’t. As the documentary unfolds, it it asks the question – who was behind Park Avenue Peerage? The website was clearly an inspiration for Gossip Girl, which was run by one of the heiresses. However, Hulu promises that if you don’t already know, the answer is not who you expect. Prepare for a journey to the past like no other. Queenmaker: Making of an It Girl lands on Hulu on May 17.
