Casanova Equates Loneliness and Comfort in New Message from Jail

Screen Shot 2023 07 10 at 7.41.35 AM

Casanova has released a new message from jail. Hitting X, the jailed rapper wrote: “I am terrified of how loneliness brings em a twisted kind of comfort.”

Casanova is behind bars, serving a 15-year sentence in a court case that labeled the rapper as a “high-profile leader of a vicious street gang.” Giving an update on Casanova’s condition is Slowbucks, who shared a Facetime to his Instagram Stories.

“Don’t believe the hype,” Slowbucks wrote, HipHopDX notes. “My guy in great standards and in great spirits. Free @bigcasanova_2x.”

Casanova has officially been sentenced and now his legal team has officially filed an appeal. The Brooklyn rapper was viciously slashed across his face right before sentencing and his lawyer feels jail is not safe for him following his denouncement of the Gorilla Stone Nation gang.

According to HotNewHipHop, Casanova’s lawyer James Kousouros mentioned that because the Brooklyn rapper (real name Caswell Senior) denounced his formal ties to the Gorilla Stone Nation gang, his sentence should be reduced.

“The fact is that Mr. Senior stayed in this gang as it furthered his rap career,” Casanova’s lawyers said. “As he gained moderate success and then a recording contract with Roc Nation, he increasingly separated himself from the gang’s activities despite remaining a member.”

Casanova received 188 months or 15 years behind bars on June 27 from U.S. District Judge Philip M. Halpern. Included in the crimes he’s accused of are a shooting in Florida on July 5, 2020, a robbery in New York City on August 5, 2018 and conspiracy to traffic over 100 kilograms of marijuana.

“Caswell Senior is not just a notorious recording artist, but he is also a high-profile leader of a vicious street gang and a magnet for gang violence,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a press release at the time. “At a crowded Miami house party, Senior personally fired a gun that seriously injured and could have killed a victim, inciting a shootout.”

He continued: “Further, Senior’s stature in the community was central to Gorilla Stone’s successful recruitment and nationwide expansion. Today’s sentencing — along with the other significant sentences that have been imposed in this case — shows once again that gang life is not worth it and will lead to many years in prison.”

Casanova was the 12th defendant in the Gorilla Stone case to have been sentenced. Five more defendants have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

After he received the sentence he took to to Twitter and issued a short message, saying, “Everything to the chin, Nothing to the heart. I GET IT NOW. I hope that don’t go over ya heads.”

Prior to his sentencing, Cas was assaulted in a bloody prison altercation that took place at Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey in early June.

Family of C-Murder’s Alleged Victim Speak Against Kim Kardashian’s Support for the Rapper

kimcmurder

The family of C-Murder’s alleged victim is blasting Kim Kardashian for her efforts in attempting to free the incarcerated rapper. Speaking with TMZ Hip-Hop, George Thomas, the brother of the late Steve Thomas, stated Kardashian‘s legal efforts reopened the wounds the family once healed.

Steve was 16 when he died, and his brother states that the continuous highlighting of C-Murder and his case constantly impacts their trauma. George also states the evidence presented against Murder is more than enough to leave him locked up, citing celebs who want him free, not necessarily the ordinary citizen.

George also states that he does support Kim Kardashian aiding innocent people, but C-Murder is not one of them.

Kim Kardashian has taken to Twitter to provide her followers with an update regarding her ongoing campaign to secure the release of former rapper Corey Miller, also known as C-Murder. Currently aged 52, Miller is incarcerated due to his involvement in the tragic shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a Louisiana nightclub back in 2002.

Initially found guilty of second-degree murder in September 2003, Miller was granted a retrial and temporarily placed under house arrest. However, on August 10, 2009, Miller’s second-degree murder conviction was reinstated, resulting in a life sentence behind bars.

You can see Kardashian’s post below.

Kim Kardashian Gives An Update On C-Murder’s Case

kimcmurder

Kim Kardashian is back at it working hard to free innocent prisoners. She recently updated her Twitter followers on her efforts to free former rapper Corey Miller, aka C-Murder.

Miller, 52, is doing time in prison for the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a Louisiana nightclub in 2002.

Miller was convicted of second degree murder in September 2003. He was later granted a retrial and released on house arrest.

On August 10, 2009 Miller was again convicted of second-degree murder and sent to prison for life.

In a lengthy post on Thursday, Kardashian wrote:

“I wanted to shed some light on a case that I’ve been working on for years…”

“Corey Miller has spent 21 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, and his conviction is based entirely on the testimony of two men, whom the State dragged to trial just on material witness warrants. Those men have now sworn that their prior testimony was untrue. There is no remaining evidence that even suggests that Corey Miller is any more culpable than the hundreds of patrons who were at the Platinum Club on January 12, 2002, when Steve Thomas was tragically shot.”

Kardashian added that several witnesses who said they saw Miller shoot Thomas have recanted their testimonies.

“In light of the fact that the only witnesses have completely recanted their testimony, there is absolutely no remaining evidence against Mr. Miller,” she wrote.

“Corey Miller deserves a day in court to test the veracity of the recanted statements and to prove that he did not shoot Steve Thomas.

If you agree that Corey Miller deserves his day in court please repost this.

While I strongly believe in Corey’s innocence, my heart goes out to the victims- and I pray for their healing and the closure that they deserve.”

Tiffany Haddish Sued By Ex-Friend for Defamation of Character

Screen Shot 2023 08 03 at 5.05.42 AM

After a whirlwind of allegations and videos were released, a pair of siblings dropped their lawsuit against comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears after accusing them of grooming them for a series of inappropriate comedy skits.
Now their mother, who is a former friend of Tiffany’s, is suing her and Aries for defamation of character.

Radar Online reports:

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Haddish, and comedian Aries Spears have been sued by Trizah Morris.

Trizah said she was friends with Tiffany from 2011 to 2020. She said she met Aries in 2014 but has never had any friendship with him.

The suit said Tiffany became close with Trizah’s family and her children referred to her as Auntie Tiff. She said in the Summers of 2014 and 2014, Tiffany “groomed and solicited” her minor children to “perform in, film, record, publish, and distribute sexually inappropriate” material.

In her lawsuit, Trizah accused Tiffany and Aries of defaming her by making public claims — following her children’s lawsuit being filed — that she was attempting to extort them.

In 2022, after the initial case was filed, Tiffany’s attorney said, “Plaintiff’s mother, Trizah Morris, has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.”

He added, “Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down. Now, Ms. Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”

In addition, Trizah said Aries called her a “lying b—-.”

She said the comedians, via their reps, made slanderous statements about her character, integrity, morals, and ethical values. In her suit, Trizah claimed despite the public statements by the comedians, the alleged extortion was never reported to any authorities.

“Trizah Morris did not file the lawsuit against Tiffany Haddish and/or Aries Spears that initiated the legal proceedings which promoted Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears to make false statements and allegations of extortion against Trizah Morris. Ms. Morris was not named as a party in the lawsuit, nor did Ms. Morris’ name appear on any court documents that led to the malicious” statements by Tiffany and Aries.

She claimed the comedians attacked her in an effort to distract from their own behavior.

Trizah claimed that her name was dragged through the mud on blogs and in the media. She said she was described as a cunning, conniving, deceitful ex-friend.

In her suit, she said she contacted Tiffany and Aries’ attorney in February 2023 asking them to release a statement clearing her from the extortion claims.

She claimed that Tiffany responded to her on March 7, 2023, via telephone. She claimed the comedian told her, “The media isn’t talking about it right now. I have four movies coming out this year and I am going to be doing a lot of press. If it comes up, I’ll be sure to mention it.”

However, Trizah said she was contacted on June 26, 2023, by a reporter who had recently done an interview with Tiffany. She claimed the comedian made negative comments about her.

Trizah said she has suffered personally, academically, professionally and financially. Her lawsuit said she has to deal with anxiety and mental anguish — along with her reputation being damaged.

Wiz Khalifa’s Security Stops Home Invasion While He’s On Tour

Screen Shot 2023 07 26 at 7.56.38 AM

Rapper Wiz Khalifa has been going through it lately. He recently posted video of him recovering from a serious pelvic injury and he is currently on tour with rapper Snoop Dogg for the North American High School Reunion Tour. Last night Wiz tweeted that there was a robbery at his home while he was on stage performing.

Luckily for Wiz his security stopped what could have been a scary/fatal home invasion…

TMZ reports:

LAPD tells TMZ Hip Hop … 3 guys tried to get onto the property through a side gate around 6:38 PM — just as Wiz was in Michigan burning through live renditions of his classic songs for the High School Reunion Tour.

We’re told Wiz’s security at the house sprung into action, running out to the gate … where the 3 stooges spotted them and immediately turned to flee.

LAPD responded to the alarm, but the suspects had bolted by the time officers arrived. They filed an attempted burglary report, and opened the investigation.

Meanwhile, Wiz caught wind of the caper while at his concert venue, and noted the timing … pointing out he was actually on stage while it was going down.

John Singleton’s Daughter Fighting Grandmother In Court Over Allowance

Screen Shot 2023 07 13 at 10.12.53 AM

Four years ago director John Singleton passed away after suffering a stroke. The 51-year-old director had been in a coma after suffering a stroke while at a Los Angeles hospital for another health concern. He died peacefully and surrounded by friends, his family said in a statement shared by his publicist.

Now John’s daughter Cleopatra is fighting in court with his mother after getting cut off of $2700 school allowance following her graduation arguing she is still enrolled in online school.

Radar Online reports:

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Cleopatra, one of John’s 7 children, asked the court to shut down the late director’s mom Shelia Ward.

As we first reported, Shelia, who has been in charge of John’s estate since his 2019 death, recently asked the court to allow her to stop paying Cleopatra $2,700 per month.

The support was initially approved by the court in December 2019. The money was to be used by Cleopatra for support because she was a “full-time student who did not have other sources of income.”

Sheila said Cleopatra graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in May 2021 but was still being paid. She asked that Cleopatra’s final payout from John’s estate be reduced by the amount she was paid to her after the date of graduation from Xaiver University.

Now, Cleopatra said her grandmother’s request should be shut down because she’s currently enrolled in an online school.

Further, Cleopatra said Sheila’s final accounting report submitted to the court should not be approved. She claimed it contained “woefully inaccurate” information and failed to include documentary proof for certain transactions.

A judge has yet to rule.

Singleton, who was also a screenwriter and producer, made history in 1992 when he became the first black director nominated for an Academy Award and, at 23, the youngest nominee in that category for the 1991 drama “Boyz n the Hood,” his directorial debut. The critically acclaimed film follows the lives of three teenage boys in Los Angeles and addresses questions of race, violence and relationships.
