Carlos Santana Is ‘Taking It Easy’ And ‘Doing Well’ After Passing Out At A Michigan Show

Fans at a Michigan show on Tuesday night ended the night quite worried as Carlos Santan passed out on stage during the show. Santana was performing at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan when he took the fall on stage, but luckily, he was able to get up a short time later and walk away under his own power. The incident occurred during the Miraculous Supernatural 2022 tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, and afterward, Santana shared an update on his well-being through messages from himself and his team.

Santana’s team was the first to share a message as they did through a message on the famed guitarist’s Facebook page. “Rock Legend Carlos Santana was over-taken by heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday (July 5) evening in Michigan,” the message read. “The guitar great was taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan.”

They continued, “Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well, it was announced by Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis tonight.” Santana himself chimed in with a message of his own a short time later. “To one and all,” he wrote. “Cindy and I, we are good just taking it easy. Forgot to eat and drink water, so i dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all.”

DJ Khaled Announces His Thirteenth Album, ‘God Did’

You may be one of those people who constantly ask, “What exactly does DJ Khaled actually do?” And you know what? It’s high time you learned that it doesn’t matter what DJ Khaled actually does. He makes albums. He makes HITS. And now he’s got — say it with me — another one. That’s right, it’s time for the thirteenth studio album from DJ Khaled, hitmaker extraordinaire, God Did. As of now, there’s no release date or singles… but he’s DJ Khaled. He doesn’t need those things. He’s a one-man self-promotion army. And by god (see what I did there?), he’s gonna make sure you know he’s got an album coming out, even if all he’s got so far is a title.

But considering the eventful rollouts for the last handful of albums from Khaled, we can likely look forward to shenanigans both hilarious and genuinely entertaining as he pulls together the cross-branding opportunities and assembles a massive list of featured artists. His last album, 2021’s Khaled Khaled, featured an impressive slate that included 21 Savage, Bryson Tiller, Buju Banton, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, HER, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Nas, Roddy Ricch, and more. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. So yeah, DJ Khaled goes No. 1. He goes platinum. He makes some of the splashiest posse cuts since Heavy D did “Don’t Curse.” He doesn’t make his jumpers though. Can’t do everything.

God Did is out soon via We The Best and Epic.

Post Malone Will Perform ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’ In A VR Concert

On the whole, concepts like “the metaverse,” “virtual reality,” and “calling Facebook ‘Meta’” haven’t quite caught on with the general public. That hasn’t stopped Silicon Valley from trying to make “fetch” happen (yet), and their latest bid to do so will utilize a character who has caught on with a broad mainstream audience: Post Malone. Per Billboard, Meta (still feels weird, man) will host the beer-loving, cover-crooning pop star’s upcoming 40-minute concert film, Twelve Carat Toothache: A VR Experience on July 15.

The concert will stream on the free online video game Horizon Worlds in the Venues section, as well as Meta Quest 2. Fortunately for those of us who love Posty but don’t own a fancy virtual reality headset, it’ll also stream live on the singer’s Instagram and Facebook pages. It’s said to feature guest performances from the Twelve Carat Toothache featured artists, which include Fleet Foxes, Roddy Ricch, and The Kid LAROI. Post seems most excited about the fact that “we got to light some things on fire too.”

In a statement to Billboard, Post Malone said, “What really appealed to me was Meta being a great partner and allowing us to go absolutely nuts to create some of the most epic sh*t ever. It’s just a really cool, really different way to experience the album. Opening and listening to a new album had always been an experience for me and now with VR and what Meta is doing, it’s taking the meaning of an album experience to another level.”

Twelve Carat Toothache: A VR Experience will be available beginning July 15 through September 30.

The Game Reveals Jay-Z Cleared A Whopping Seven Samples For His Upcoming Album, ‘Drillmatic’

At the end of 2019, The Game dropped his ninth album Born 2 Rap, and claimed that he would retire from rap after the project’s release. As you’re probably aware by now, we live in a world where rappers are really bad at retiring and it was only a matter of time until The Game reclaimed his position in hip-hop. Fast-forward almost three years and the Compton native is gearing up to release his tenth album Drillmatic, and while a release date for it is unknown at the moment, The Game did reveal an interesting tidbit about the album.

The Game took to Instagram to reveal that Drillmatic will include a number of sampled Jay-Z songs and he thanked the Reasonable Doubt rapper for allowing him to use them. “S/O to S. Dot for clearing all 7 samples on #Drillmatic,” he wrote in the post. “3 more sample clearances & the AOTY belongs to me & hit-boy.”

The latter half of the message seems to explain the delays behind Drillmatic. The Game initially said the project, which is executive produced by Hit-Boy, would arrive on June 17, but it was later pushed back to July 1 which came and went without its release. The album has yet to receive a new release date, but with three samples left to clear, it shouldn’t be too long until we know when it will drop.

Kanye West Personally Corrected A Fan Account’s Post About His $1 Million Performance Fee

Kanye West might not be as active on social media lately as he was earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still lurking on the hip-hop blogs — especially when they post stories that might pertain to him. And he’s just as outspoken as he’s always been, only now he sets out to defend himself in the DMs rather than on his public feed — a much more effective strategy, truth be told.

In the latest example of Ye advocating for himself against “the hip-hop media” (actually fan blogs dedicated to reposting freely available information from social media and 2 am Google searches, apparently), Kanye reached out personally to correct a “story” posted by an account called RapThoughtsDaily. And yes, I’m using quotes derisively here and will continue to do so until people figure out the difference between legitimate journalistic outlets and 25-year-old hobbyists posting on Instagram and Twitter for “clout.”

Kanye was featured in a RapThoughtsDaily post about rappers’ performance fees, the info for which they clearly just Googled (see above) without citing any real sources to confirm. Among the rappers listed were Denzel Curry, Tyler The Creator, and Vince Staples; Kanye was given one of the largest figures at $1 million (coming in behind Young Thug at $1.5 million, which… come on. Really?). It doesn’t seem that Ye appreciated being lowballed even theoretically — the account did allow that the freely available info on Google is often way off.

He DMed the account manager to tell them to “please change this,” clarifying that “my performance fee is $8 million.” Whoever manages the account was only too happy to oblige, posting a screenshot of the conversation to the Story and updating the caption to reflect the higher figure. Of course, there’s no telling whether that figure is accurate either but at least Kanye got to see a “blog” make a correction while RapThoughtsDaily got to get a direct message from a celebrity. Everybody wins, I guess. Except for, you know, the concept of journalism in hip-hop, which is currently on life support and getting worse all the time.

Guapdad 4000 Was Sent A Cease And Desist By Gap Over His Merch

Guapdad 4000 may be in trouble. The Oakland-native rapper has been sent a cease and desist by Gap, who are accusing Guap of copying their logo for his merch. He reacted by taking the matter to Instagram to smile with the physical letter and ask what his fans thought with side-by-side pictures of his merch and Gap products.

He captioned it: “HOW SIMILAR IS TOO SIMILAR? PRAY FOR ME. GOING LIVE LATER TO TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. UNTIL THEN COP AS MUCH ‘ILLEGAL’ MERCH WHILE IT’S STILL AVAILABLE on GUAPDAD4000.com.” In the video, he said: “This don’t even look like their hoodie, it’s a whole different hoodie! I’m not ceasing sh*t.” The comments mostly consist of laughing emojis and people calling it iconic.

A couple of months ago, Guap dropped “Cheap,” a track that reminisced on his days using fake IDs and cracked credit cards to go on shopping sprees. It followed the release of “Ruthless,” which was a collaboration with one of his favorite producers, James Delgado. It came after 2021’s 1176, a !llmind collaborative album that featured none other than P-Lo and Rick Ross.

Guapdad 4000 is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Ray J Got A Tattoo Of His Sister Brandy On His Leg And It’s… Interesting

Ray J loves his sister Brandy. I mean, he really loves his sister Brandy. Last year, he got a large tattoo of Brandy’s name inked on his arm in the same font as the cover of her debut self-titled album. But that wasn’t enough, because Ray-J just got another tattoo of his sister on his body. This time it’s of her face and it’s on his right leg. But it’s not as straightforward as that may sound.

Ray J posted an Instagram Video (set to Brandy’s song “Best Friend”) to showcase the new ink, done by tattoo artist Mashkow, who has a very distinct style. It’s a portrait of Brandy, but with “Best Friend” written on her forehead, “4 Ever” on her cheeks (“4” on one and “Ever” on the other) and Mashkow’s signtaure over her right eyelid. It makes Brandy almost look like a Post Malone-style face-tatted caricature. But this is what Mashkow is known for and Ray J was pumped. “New Brandy tattoo by one of the greatest!! Mashkow,” he posted. Adding that, “I’m getting my whole leg tatted with – music- love – scriptures – the vocal bible – family -ghosts -positive words and themes – real gothic like — ‘The Holy Leg!! – Gonna take a minute!! But I got the best doing it!! Stay Tuned!! Full leg tatt — I had to start with my best friend!!”

It’s quite the homage to his sister. And perhaps now, it will finally register with people (ahem… Jack Harlow) that not only are Ray J and Brandy siblings, but they have been their whole lives.

Key Glock Flexes On ‘Diapers,’ A New Song With A Cash-Filled Music Video

This year, Key Glock has been working tirelessly, releasing song after song after song, with videos as well. He released “No Choice” last month, as well as “12AM” and a remix of Denzel Curry’s “Walkin.” In March, he unveiled the deluxe version of 2021’s Yellow Tape 2, which had 30 songs and no features.

The 24-year-old rapper is back today with “Diapers,” a two-minute track with a seamless flow full of flexes and quips: “First name Michael, I ball like Michael / Tyson, 10-carats in rings bitin’ / Came in f*cking sh*t up, Joe Biden.” It also comes with a video with lots of smoke, wads of cash, and an appearance from Big Moochie Grape.

In April, the Memphis native was asked in an interview with Mormon how he’s been doing since the death of Young Dolph, who was his friend and was tragically shot and killed in his hometown of Memphis while shopping at a bakery. “I’m maintaining,” Glock said. “Like, I’m not getting better, I’m not getting worse. I’m just here right now.” He continued, “I can’t shake it, man. I ain’t even gonna lie. I can’t even shake it. It is what it is.”

Megan Thee Stallion Lets It All Hang Out In Saucy String Bikini Beach Photos

Another year and another hot girl summer for Megan Thee Stallion. She has been incredibly busy coming into 2022’s mid-year season, starting with the drop of her provocative video for “Plan B. She’s also been using her platform to spread awareness about a woman’s right to choose, starting a, “My body, my motherf*cking choice” chant during her Glastonbury festival set, and is trying to find time to chill out as festival season begins to pick up steam.

These music festival appearances are about to dominate Meg’s summer and she’s currently on top of the lineup of a slew of European fests. She just wrapped up a headlining set at Dublin’s Longitude fest and heads to Switzerland’s Openair Frauenfeld next. But in between these trips, she also knows how to find a shoreline or two to relax and recharge by the beach. According to Megan’s Instagram stories, she was just taking a breather in Portugal. She just posted a series of photos to social media donning a string bikini that does not leave much to the imagination. Posing both on the beach and against a marbled wall, the butterfly-themed swimsuit accentuates her curves to the max. “This why he obsessed, CLINGY,” she said in the caption.

From Switzerland, she heads to Wireless Festival in London, before an eventual grand finale at Lollapalooza in Paris. So there’s no telling where the next relaxation station will be.

Chief Keef’s July 4th Driveway Fireworks Display Went Terribly Wrong

The fourth of July is supposed to be a patriotic holiday celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence before the founding fathers sent it off to King George (their timing was terrible; the first fighting of the American Revolution started days before it reached its destination). But for many Americans — let’s just say “most” of us — it’s really a day off work in which we get to eat unconscionable amounts of barbecue, get exceedingly day drunk, and/or blow some stuff up. Namely: fireworks. Lots and lots of fireworks.

And despite the fact that fireworks are illegal in many municipalities for obvious reasons, that hasn’t stopped people from “celebrating” July 4th with impromptu displays in driveways, backyards, parking lots, and/or in the middle of the street. It certainly didn’t stop Chief Keef, who set off an impressive display in his own driveway on Monday, surrounded by his friends and fleet of muscle cars. Unfortunately, there was just one problem: Chief Keef is by no means a pyrotechnics expert and things almost immediately went wrong, spraying fireworks all over the driveway and sending people ducking for cover behind the cars.

Look: it’s not completely funny. After all, 11,500 Americans were hospitalized with fireworks-related injuries in 2021 alone and that was a drop from the year before. There’s a reason private fireworks are illegal. But on the other hand, if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes, and there is little as amusing as watching instant karma, provided nobody actually gets hurt. Maybe Keef and co. have learned their lesson and will invest in a specialist next year. Still, we’d rather see our favorite rappers playing with fireworks than with guns, so viva la revolution until next year.
