Post Malone Postpones His Boston Show After Being Hospitalized: ‘I’m Having A Very Difficult Time Breathing’

Post Malone has faced a series of mishaps while on his “Twelve Carat Tour.” A week ago, the “Cooped Up” singer injured his ribs after falling through a hole on stage during his St. Louis show. Still, Post managed to perform, while clutching his ribs, visibly in pain. Unfortunately, he is unable to perform at his Boston stop tonight, as he has been hospitalized.

Post took to his Instagram stories to share the news, saying, “I’m having a very difficult time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move.”

He revealed to fans that he typically wakes up rather late during tours, and today, he woke up with cracking sounds on the right side of his body.

Post has not indicated whether his current injury is related to that which he sustained at the St. Louis show, however, he said the show will be rescheduled and that fans who purchased tickets for tonight’s show will be able to use them on the rescheduled date.

“Once again, I’m so f*cking sorry,” he continued. “I love y’all so much. I feel terrible, but I promise I’m going to make this up to you. I love you Boston, I’ll see you soon.”

Post Malone Falls And Injures His Ribs On Stage, And Returns To Perform Shortly After

Post Malone took a nasty tumble on stage last night at the St. Louis stop of his “Twelve Carat Tour.” While on stage at the Enterprise Center, Post stepped into a hole on the stage.

Visibly hurt, Malone was escorted offstage by medics and given attention. He didn’t take too long to bounce back, as he returned to the stage about 15 minutes after, to an audience cheering “Posty, Posty, Posty!”

Post thanked the crowd for their patience and revealed he cracked three ribs. He continued to perform the rest of his set, however, he was clutching his ribs throughout the remainder of the set, visibly in pain.

Before Post continued with his set, a fan gave him a beer to comfort him.

In an interview with Billboard earlier this year, Post revealed that while touring is one of his favorite parts of being an artist, he admits that touring can be physically taxing.

“I love touring and I love meeting my fans and singing these songs with them,” he said, “but at the same time, it’s such an ass-kicker. My back kills me, my neck kills me, my feet kill me. There’s a lot to think about, and there’s a lot to focus on. You kind of have to have chameleon eyes and look every which way and keep track of what’s going on at all times. It’s the give-and-take. You give up so much and you receive it in love, and that’s what everything is about: feeling loved. That’s what everybody wants.”

Post is still scheduled to perform in Colombus, OH tonight.

Post Malone And Doja Cat Have Chemistry In Their Video For ‘I Like You (A Happier Song) (Even More)’

In July, Post Malone and Doja Cat teamed up for a wholesome music video for their song “I Like You (A Happier Song)” from Malone’s recent album Twelve Carat Toothache. The two have shared “I Like You (A Happier Song) (Even More)” today, which captures the behind-the-scenes moments of the video.

The original video started with Malone working on a painting of a woman before eventually disappearing into a puff of dust and re-emerging in a flowery and overgrown field, through which a topless Doja is running. This new video starts with Malone showing off his sketch of a woman while Doja holds an umbrella and laughs. Mostly, it consists of takes of them dancing in the field in front of the cameras, goofing off as both of them are known to do.

One user commented, “The fact that Post and Doja have such a good friendship/chemistry together makes this music video mean so much more. Seeing this behind-the-scenes footage with everyone laughing and smiling on the set is the GREATEST proof of that.” That may be the purpose of this new video — to flaunt the way Malone and Doja are not just awesome collaborators but genuine friends.

Who Is Opening Post Malone’s ‘Twelve Carat Toothache Tour?’

Post Malone is putting on one of the best live performances in the business right now. His festival headlining sets this year have provided the respite that we need for the wild and twisted times that we’re living in. And now beginning on September 10th, he’ll be embarking on the “Twelve Carat Toothache Tour” 2022 in support of his latest album, Twelve Carat Toothache. And where on his 2019 “Runaway Tour” he shined a light on Swae Lee as his opening act, it’s Roddy Ricch that will be opening the concerts on the Twelve Carat Toothache Tour. Here’s what you need to know about Roddy Ricch.

Who Is Opening Post Malone’s ‘Twelve Carat Toothache Tour?’

Roddy Ricch is one of the fastest-rising names in hip-hop. Post Malone fans might recognize the Compton rapper from his appearance on Posty’s track, “Cooped Up.” Roddy Ricch dropped his most recent The Big 3 EP earlier this year, which featured the single “Real Talk.” But speaking of singles, it’s his 2019 track, “The Box,” that put him firmly on the rap map, and has even gained Diamond certification — a feat rarely accomplished and only by acts like Elton John, Mariah Carey, and Cardi B.

The ‘Twelve Carat Toothache” Tour begins in Omaha on September 10th and concludes in Los Angeles on November 15th at Crypto.com Arena. Roddy Ricch will be opening all of the dates and you can get tickets here.

Roddy Ricch is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Post Malone Shares The Electric Trailer For His ‘Runaway’ Tour Documentary

While Post Malone is getting ready to not only headline summer music festivals like Outside Lands in San Francisco and Brazil’s Rock In Rio, on September 10th, his Twelve Carat Toothache headlining tour gets underway. So what better way to hype up one of the most anticipated tours of the fall season than by dropping a tour documentary from 2019’s massive Runaway Tour? That’s exactly what the “Rockstar” singer is doing with Runaway, which will be coming out on August 12th for free on Amazon’s Freevee streaming platform and the new trailer is electric.

“I’m gonna be myself, and if you don’t like it, I don’t give a f*ck,” Posty says in the trailer, where we see a ton of behind the scenes footage of his sold out arena tour stops with Swae Lee in 2019. There are explosions, there are fan interactions, there are appearances from Drake, Travis Barker, Alicia Keys, and Ozzy Osbourne, there are candid moments and then there’s Post Malone on stage, alone with tens of thousands of people hanging on his every word as he drops his head back and screams, “I love y’all more than life itseeeelllllllffff!”

Post Malone’s Runaway tour documentary comes out on 08/12 via Amazon Freevee.

Post Malone Shares Live Versions Of ‘Twelve Carat’ Standouts From His VR Concert

This past weekend, Post Malone teamed up with Meta for a VR concert of live performances of songs from his new album Twelve Carat Toothache, and to start the week, he shared a pair of the songs from the performance on his YouTube. Culling standouts “Love Hate Letter To Alcohol” and “Wasting Angels” featuring his tiny Australian doppelganger The Kid Laroi, Post gives fans who didn’t catch the original live stream the opportunity to see what they missed out on.

The performances take a lot of inspiration from 17th-century architecture, as he performs in a fog-filled space surrounded by arches and dressed in an ensemble resembling priests’ robes. The stripped-down setting allows Post’s passionate vocal delivery to take center stage as he growls and bleats with that distinctive voice of his.

Twelve Carat Toothache continued Post’s streak of No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 and was critically praised. Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez wrote, “On Twelve Carat Toothache, Malone seeks to make more than quick hits. The album is his most cohesive body of work to date, and his first worth a listen from beginning to end.”

Post Malone Will Perform ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’ In A VR Concert

On the whole, concepts like “the metaverse,” “virtual reality,” and “calling Facebook ‘Meta’” haven’t quite caught on with the general public. That hasn’t stopped Silicon Valley from trying to make “fetch” happen (yet), and their latest bid to do so will utilize a character who has caught on with a broad mainstream audience: Post Malone. Per Billboard, Meta (still feels weird, man) will host the beer-loving, cover-crooning pop star’s upcoming 40-minute concert film, Twelve Carat Toothache: A VR Experience on July 15.

The concert will stream on the free online video game Horizon Worlds in the Venues section, as well as Meta Quest 2. Fortunately for those of us who love Posty but don’t own a fancy virtual reality headset, it’ll also stream live on the singer’s Instagram and Facebook pages. It’s said to feature guest performances from the Twelve Carat Toothache featured artists, which include Fleet Foxes, Roddy Ricch, and The Kid LAROI. Post seems most excited about the fact that “we got to light some things on fire too.”

In a statement to Billboard, Post Malone said, “What really appealed to me was Meta being a great partner and allowing us to go absolutely nuts to create some of the most epic sh*t ever. It’s just a really cool, really different way to experience the album. Opening and listening to a new album had always been an experience for me and now with VR and what Meta is doing, it’s taking the meaning of an album experience to another level.”

Twelve Carat Toothache: A VR Experience will be available beginning July 15 through September 30.

Post Malone Is All Grown Up On ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’

On his fourth studio album, Twelve Carat Toothache, Post Malone is self-aware. When he first stepped onto the scene, many thought his viral “White Iverson” hit would make him a one-hit-wonder. Seven years into his career, he has over nine Grammy nominations under his belt and 11 Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits to his name. As his track record suggests, Malone is a skilled hitmaker, mastering the art of rock-influenced hip-hop with enough pop elements for mainstream radio. But on Twelve Carat Toothache, Malone seeks to make more than quick hits. The album is his most cohesive body of work to date, and his first worth a listen from beginning to end.

Twelve Carat Toothache opens with “Reputation,” a piano-driven ballad on which he reflects on the mental effects of the debaucherous lifestyle of which he’s become known for singing and rapping. It’s a dark track in nature, in which Malone acknowledges, “I know I f*cked up before, but I won’t do it again / And I got a lot of things that I wish I would’ve said / And I’m the same damn fool, and I’m wearing that hat again / I know I f*cked up, and I can’t make it right.” It’s hard hearing Posty talk about wanting to end his life, but it evokes the same feeling as his Stoney cut, “I Fall Apart,” a song in which the listeners bonded with Malone over heartbreak from whichever past lover of theirs came to mind. Now, Malone sings of heartbreak from his past mistakes.

While Twelve Carat Toothache may open on a melancholy note, he seeks to escape the feelings of despair on the bouncy “Cooped Up,” which features Mustard-protege Roddy Ricch. He shouts what we’ve all felt these past two years — “I’ve been f*cking cooped up.” The song’s accompanying music video, directed by Andre Bato, sees the two of them emerging from a dark place, literally, as the apartment in which they are partying contains black space in place of walls and ceilings. It maintains the spirit of a Post Malone party track, but a little more mature than “Congratulations” from Stoney and “Rockstar” from Beerbongs And Bentleys. It’s as though he’s traded parties and clubs for kickbacks and hang sessions.

On the saccharine “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” Malone finds solace in a woman he knows isn’t good for him. Upon first listen, it sounds like a sunny, poppy love song, but throughout the song, Posty asks himself, “Why do I tell myself that I do the best I can? / I know damn well that you couldn’t give a damn.” With additional lyrics like, “Ten billion cuties that think I’m the man / But if you come around, I’ll be eatin’ out your hand,” it’s one of two sides of the same coin of Beerbongs And Bentleys’ “Better Now,” only, in this case, he realized that the woman is in fact, just fine without him.

But this doesn’t hinder him from exploring new flames. On the Doja Cat-assisted “I Like You (A Happier Song),” he finds someone who makes him happy. The muse for this song is probably his elusive fiance and mother of his baby, as he sings, “Now that I’m famous, I got hoes all around me / But I need a good girl, I need someone to ground me / So please be true, don’t f*ck around with me / I need someone to share this heart with me,” over a punchy, thomping beat. Posty has come a long way from one-night stands with several woman and found one he likes — even if we’ve never seen her!

Perhaps the track that most showcases his growth is the Fleet Foxes collaboration, “Love/Hate Letter To Alcohol.” As its title suggests, this song sees Malone acknowledging his biggest vice. He’s aware it’s not good for him, but he doesn’t wish to stop, as it seems to be “the only way to drown my sadness.” As Malone, who was born in ‘95, has grown older, it feels as though he has done so alongside his millennial-and-gen-z cusper fans. When “White Iverson” came out, many of the ‘94 and ‘95 babies has just turned 21, and were looking forward to their first time “saucin’, saucin’, saucin’” at the bar or at a party. When “Congratulations” came out a year later, a lot of those people had just graduated college, and were using the song as a graduation anthem. Now, six years later, “Love/Hate Letter To Alcohol” represents many of those people’s relationships with alcohol now, as they are in their late 20s and winding down from the days of wild partying.

As a whole, Twelve Carat Toothache shows that Post Malone knows what kind of artist he wants to be. He’s not the long-haired, grill-wearing, cultural-appropriating party boy he was when he first stepped onto the scene. At this phase of his life, he’s less interested in making quick hits and more interested in taking himself seriously as an artist. Even if he admittedly is hesitant to play his own album back, the music Twelve Carat Toothache is his most honest and self-aware to date.

Fleet Foxes Are Happy To Land Their First Song On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 Chart Thanks To Post Malone

Fleet Foxes are one of the most respected indie bands of their generation, and to a degree, that has been reflected on the charts: Helplessness Blues peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 while Crack-Up topped out at No. 9. As is often the case with indie bands, though, while the albums perform well, they haven’t had much success with singles on the Hot 100. In fact, before this week, Robin Pecknold and company had yet to get a song onto the chart.

This week, though, that changed: Post Malone’sLove/Hate Letter To Alcohol,” a collaboration with Fleet Foxes from Twelve Carat Toothache, debuted at No. 70 on the new Hot 100 chart dated June 18, giving the band their first-ever appearance on the chart.

The band was pretty happy about the accomplishment: On Instagram, the accounts for both the band and Pecknold shared a graphic noting the chart debut, with Fleet Foxes adding heart and sparkle emojis and Pecknold going with the “call me hand” emoji (which is also used to represent a shaka sign).

This collaboration was a long time coming: Posty called Pecknold a “great writer” in 2018, then in 2020, Pecknold said of his friendship with Malone, “He’ll text me every once in a while and it’s always a really fun thing to receive. To have that pop up in my iMessages, it always feels like a glitch in the Matrix or something. […] He’s a super sweet guy, he’s a real gentleman, and he’s probably the best melody writer in the business right now, I think. And by some glitch in the Matrix, we have a casual friendship.”
