Blxst’s Celebratory ‘Couldn’t Wait For It’ Video With Rick Ross Showcases The Fruits Of His Labor

For the third consecutive year, Blxst graced the world with a project. His latest release came during the spring with his Before You Go project, a body of work that followed 2021’s Sixtape 2 with Bino Rideaux and his 2020 debut No Love Lost. Before You Go checked in with 13 songs and features from Arin Ray, Rick Ross, Zacari, and Grandmaster Vic. Through the visuals that Blxst has released for songs from Before You Go, Blxst has built a narrative centered on his love life and hustle towards success that continues in the new video for “Couldn’t Wait For It.”

The video kicks off by picking up where Blxst left off in his “Be Forreal” visual. After walking out on his lover, Blxst is back to handling business and his latest task requires him to fly out and meet with Rick Ross, who also has a guest verse on the song. In the end, the Blxst and Ross sign a deal together and toast to their new business venture from the comfort of Ross’ mansion.

In addition to his strong Before You Go project, which appeared on Uproxx’s Best R&B Albums Of 2022 So Far list, Blxst has also contributed strong features this year. He’s worked with the likes of Kehlani, Buddy, and more on great records this year.

Rico Nasty Doesn’t Care If You Don’t Like Her New Song, ‘Skullflower’

Rico Nasty has returned to her true form. On her newest track, “Skullflower,” she embraces the weirdness for which her fans know and love her, while denouncing the need for validation within the mainstream.

On “Skullflower,” the latest from her upcoming album, Las Ruinas, Nasty delivers her signature yell-rapping stylings in a slightly pitched-up form, over a bubbly, synth-pop- and alternative-inspired beat, reminiscent of the days of MySpace pop-punk. In the song’s accompanying music video, Nasty is seen wearing a long, lush, gray wig, along with a maid uniform, all of which make for a beautiful contrast as she frolics through a field of sunflowers.

While fans have tweeted their support for the song and its video, Nasty couldn’t help but notice that she had received some hate. “Everyone hates the new song but eye love it,” said Nasty in a tweet, “and besides when was I ever gonna have a SUNFLOWER FIELD LIKE THAT AND A SONG CALLED SKULLFLOWER AT THE SAME TIME.”

Nasty later followed up, noting that she is no longer making music to appeal to the masses, writing, “Im not tryna go number one. Im just making music that I like again. If you don’t get it. Then don’t. Im not about to waste my entire career pleasing people, that’s not what I’m here for. I hope you respect that.

Stormzy Was Adorably Excited To Meet ‘The Simpsons’ Legend Nancy Cartwright, The Voice Of Bart

As a voice actor, it’s very often the case that your work can be beloved all while fans of it have no idea who you are. There are a select few, though, whose characters and filmography are so legendary that they’ve transcended the relative anonymity that usually comes with the territory of voice acting. One of the best examples is the primary voice cast of The Simpsons, who have been portraying iconic Springfield residents for over 30 years now.

Stormzy is familiar with that crew, as he recently met Nancy Cartwright (who most notably voices Bart Simpson) and was absolutely over the moon when he first laid eyes on the TV icon.

As NME notes, Cartwright was on hand for one of Ed Sheeran’s recent Wembley Stadium shows, which took place from June 24 to July 1. Now, Cartwright has shared a video of herself running into Stormzy in some sort of backstage area at one of those London concerts. When Stormzy spotted her, he excitedly stopped in his tracks and paced around the room before giving her a big hug, all of this to the delight of Cartwright. After calling Cartwright a “legend,” Stormzy put down his drink with a sense of urgency and insisted he needed a photo of the two of them together.

Sharing the video, Cartwright wrote, “I loved surprising Stormzy, Bart’s new BFF.”

Nicki Minaj’s United Kingdom Meet-And-Greet With Fans Was Canceled Due To Overcrowding

Nicki Minaj seems to be enjoying her time in the United Kingdom. She recently performed at the 2022 Wireless Festival where she was one of many female headliners for the showcase. After holding her performance at the Finsbury Park, North London edition of Wireless, Nicki decided to do a meet-and-greet with fans in Camden, UK. It was set to take place by Cafe Koko, but too many fans showed up at the location, and police were eventually forced to cancel the event due to concerns with overcrowding.

The Metropolitan police confirmed that staff at Cafe Koko were “concerned about significant crowding outside” and contacted them as the event’s start time approached. Organizers eventually went ahead and canceled the meet-and-greet “in the interests of safety.” Signs of overcrowding were clear as fans failed to maintain a singular line at Cafe Koko as Nicki arrived at the event.

This led to her sending out a tweet that asked fans to follow the rules set in place. “Guys, if you don’t get in a contained space they won’t let me get out the cars,” she wrote. “Pls don’t run in the streets. Please get in 1 place. 1 line [prayer hands emoji].”

The Guardian reports that police officers executed a “section 35 dispersal order” in order to clear the crowd. This allows a police officer to exclude a person from an area for up to 48 hours. Thankfully, no arrests were made at the event.

However, the rapper decided to change the original album art, which quickly made fans go from excited to upset.

On Instagram, he shared the new cover, writing in the now-deleted caption: “This photo was taken by Mel D Cole on 9.22.08 in NYC. Right before my life changed forever.”

On Twitter, Cudi received a response that read: “im sorry cud but the og cover too iconic.” Cudi then quote-tweeted the post and wrote: “Im sorry but that cover i never liked and this is way better to see me at that time. Some of yall be so stuck on the past and dont wanna see any change its really sad. This photo is as equally if not more iconic. Ur bogus.”

A Kid Named Cudi will reach streaming services on 7/15.

Nicki Minaj Shoved A Fan On Video And Now All The Barbz Are Jealous

Every Nicki Minaj superfan’s dream is to be in the vicinity of their Queen. Barbz — as her passionate, rabid, do or die fans are commonly referred to — thirst to be by Nicki’s side, in her line of sight, in her mentions, all of it. But who knew that what the Barbz truly want, is for Minaj (who is not pregnant) to just give them a cold, hard shove. That’s exactly what happened earlier today in London and it was captured in a TikTok video.

Following her headlining performance on Sunday night at the Wireless Festival, Minaj took to her Instagram story to announce that she was doing a meet and greet for fans at Camden Town’s Cafe KoKo on Monday at noon. “I’m hoping a lot of y’all didn’t book the first flight leaving out tomorrow morning. I hope and pray that I get to see y’all. Y’all know how I normally do when I come to the UK,” she said.

Well the Barbz came out in droves. Swarming the area earlier today for the noon scheduled meet-up.

Sure, there were some crowd control issues, but nothing that a Nicki Minaj public appearance doesn’t normally garner. At one point though, there was quite a bit of pushing and Minaj found herself trying to navigate the crowd and asking people to move back. One fan thought this was the perfect time to snag a TikTok selfie video with their Queen. What they got instead was a nice forceful shove in the back, which promptly ended the video. “My fave literally touched me 😂😍#fyp #nickiminaj” the user, @theyluviish commented.

And while to some fanbases, this might be an indictment that severs their allegiance to said star, what ensued in the comments section was the exact opposite. “I would never wash my clothes again,” one user said. “Updates bio: “Nicki pushed x1,” another Barb commented. Other responses included, “how does It feel to live my dream,” “Your going to heaven now, congrats,” and “I give anything for the queen to push me.”

An in the end, it was all love with Nicki and the Barbz.

R. Kelly Is Reportedly Engaged To One Of His Victims, Joycelyn Savage

R. Kelly may be going to prison for a very, very long time, but that doesn’t mean the saga of his mistreatment of women is over yet. According to TMZ, one of his alleged victims, Joycelyn Savage, wrote to the judge in his New York case ahead of his sentencing to ask for a more lenient sentence. In her letter, she introduces herself as “Robert Kelly’s fiancee,” suggesting that at some point in the past nine years — Savage is currently 26 years old and met Kelly when she was 17 — the pair became engaged.

She also asserts that “I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be,” writing that the relationship between the two is “amazing” despite the near-30-year difference in age (Kelly is 55) and the disturbing circumstances under which they met. However, Savage’s parents, Timothy and Jonjelyn, are not convinced. They told TMZ through their attorney that Joycelyn never made any engagement known to the family, and wonder why she put it in a letter to the judge rather than mentioning it in court while under oath.

In 2017, Savage told TMZ in an interview that she was “not being brainwashed or anything like that,” insisting that she was staying with Kelly of her own free will shortly after it was reported that Kelly was keeping multiple young women in a “sex cult.” Obviously, it has been since revealed that his activities went much further than that, with a jury convicting Kelly of racketeering and sex trafficking; he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Meek Mill Explains Why He Left Roc Nation Management: ‘So I Can Take Risk And Grow’

Earlier today, it was reported that Meek Mill had parted ways with Roc Nation Management, which has handled his career since 2012. The report prompted speculation about Meek’s relationships with Roc Nation founder Jay-Z and his MMG label boss Rick Ross, moving Meek to address the rumors on Twitter.

“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways,” he wrote. “I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together.” He also noted that his other business dealings with Roc Nation remain intact. “I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga.”

Perhaps concerned about any future speculation getting out of hand, he also clarified that he’s in a good place with his business partners, who he credited with turning his life around. “roc nation is my family,” he buzzed. “Don’t mix my post aimed at Atlantic mixed up with roc or MMG …they ain’t stop nothing I’m doing. We made about a 100m together. Des, Mike, and Hov saved my life b4 And put a lot of energy into it. I’m not behind on my favors in life wit my people. I’m good.”

And when one fan tried to find an angle to turn Meek’s pro-Jay-Z posts into a wedge between Meek and Ross, the Philly rapper nipped the impending drama in the bud. “This wasn’t really a convo for MMG,’ he clarified. “I just wanted to add that in there because Ross put me in the game also! It was for the controlled media base vibes.”

So there you have it. Meek will manage his career in-house (at least for the time being) so he can grow as a businessman while keeping his other arrangements in place to benefit the artists he’s working with.
