Lil Baby, Lil Durk, And Travis Scott Salute Anyone Keeping It Real On ‘Hats Off’

For the past few months, hip-hop fans have been patiently waiting for the arrival of Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s joint project, Voice Of The Heroes. It’s an effort that the duo began teasing back in February and now, nearly four months later, the album is finally in the hands of listeners. Its 18 songs are currently being enjoyed by supporters all over the world, and from the looks of it, the duo’s collaboration with Travis Scott is getting the most votes for an early favorite from the album.

The motivational track sees Durk and Baby tipping their hats to those who kept it real and stayed loyal around them. Travis takes the anchor position and closes out the track with vague anecdotes about those in his past who never did him wrong. Lil Baby also offers a brief explanation for the album’s title on the track, rapping, “Durk the voice ’cause he know just what to say / I’m the hero, I come through, save the day.”

Along with Travis, listeners can expect appearances from Meek Mill, Young Thug, and Rod Wave on the Voice Of The Heroes. The project was initially set to arrive on May 28, but Durk and Baby opted to push it back a week out of respect for DMX as his posthumous album, Exodus arrived on that day.

Bad Bunny Arrives With A Song Of The Summer Entry Through His Vibrant Single, ‘Yonaguni’

Bad Bunny’s 2020 is hard to match when you look at what the Latin singer did through its twelve months. He dropped three projects, YHLQMDLG, Las Que No Iban A Salir, and El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, which became the first all-Spanish album to top the Billboard album charts. Even outside of the music world, Bad Bunny thrived. He joined the WWE’s Royal Rumble where he took out The Miz from the top rope and he later became a WWE champion by winning the 24/7 Championship belt. While some might’ve thought a break would be up next for Bad Bunny, the singer is pushing full-steam ahead as he returns with a new single.

His latest effort, titled “Yonaguni,” arrives as his own song of the summer entry. Named after a Japanese island, the track carries the rhythms of reggaeton that serve as the foundation of Bad Bunny’s artistry, but it also boasts a relaxing melody that makes “Yonaguni” a song anyone can listen to and enjoy. Bad Bunny also gives fans a visual for the song, one that captures him enjoying normal human activities like making breakfast, practicing karate, walking his dogs, playing video games, partying, and more.

The singer’s latest drop comes after he announced a 2022 North American tour in support of El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo. In less than a week, he sold 480,000 tickets making for the quickest-selling tour since 2018, and one of the fastest-selling in the entirety of Ticketmaster’s history. Shortly after this feat, Bad Bunny brought his talents to the Billboard Music Awards to perform “Te Deseo Lo Mejor.”

Tinashe And Buddy Work Their Magic Once Again On The Uplifting Anthem, ‘Pasadena’

It was almost a decade ago that Tinashe started to gain the attention of the industry as an underground singer. After a string of consistent mixtapes that turned heads, she later inked a deal with RCA and released her 2015 debut album, Aquarius, which is home to her most successful single to date, “2 On.”

However, label issues would halt the singer’s growth and she would eventually leave RCA and begin her path as an independent artist. This decision led to her 2019 album, Songs For You, a project that was praised from all around. Two years later, Tinashe is ready to start the latest chapter in her independence. However, she did bring a souvenir of her time at RCA: The connections she forged with some of her former labelmates.

The singer returns with her latest single, “Pasadena.” The uplifting track also features a verse from RCA-signed Compton rapper Buddy, whom she previously worked with on “Glitch” in 2020. On their newest collaboration, both acts are in high spirits on the summer-ready bop that finds them relishing in the sunlight and warmth that the upcoming months will surely deliver to them. In a press release, Tinashe spoke about the new track.

“After the past year we have all had, I felt a very strong calling to release music that feels like joy, excitement, and freedom – to contribute positive energy to the universe,” she said. “I wrote and recorded the song ‘Pasadena’ in my home in Los Angeles with a bold, bouncing tempo that makes me want to dance. The song is about growth, family, and the feelings I get when I visit the area I grew up in — energetic and nostalgic, but hopeful.”

Roddy Ricch Delivers A Sultry Dose Of Reassurance To His Partner On ‘Late At Night’

Roddy Ricch released his debut album, Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial at the end of 2019, and the year that followed from the Compton rapper proved that the project’s title was a real-life sentiment for him. Roddy’s appearances in the public were limited, and unlike the crop of trap artists he calls contemporaries, he opted to keep his musical releases limited as well. Since Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, we’ve only received a handful of features from the Compton native. The dry spell ends tonight as Roddy returns with his latest single, “Late At Night.”

The new song finds Roddy extending his and Mustard’s list of strong rapper-producer collaborations. “Late At Night” fits in the laid-back and uniquely romantic side of the rapper’s catalog, a section that also features fan favorites from Roddy like “High Fashion” and “Bacc Seat,” the former which was also produced by Mustard. “Late At Night” arrives with a video that sees Roddy return home in hopes of recording new music, but he’s quickly distracted by a mysterious Ferris wheel that appears in his backyard. He boards the carnival ride and ends up at a throwback party that leads to a “Thriller”-esque ending.

Back in August, Roddy told fans during an Instagram livestream that his sophomore album would arrive “soon as f*ck.” While ten months is pushing the limits of the word “soon,” even the way the music industry uses it, that time frame seems more appropriate now than it did back in August. As for a name, Roddy’s next project is reportedly titled Love Is Barely Real Anymore, which appears to be the rapper’s own acronym for L.I.B.R.A., his astrology sign.

MF DOOM Joins The Avalanches For A Energy-Boosting Remix Of ‘Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life’

May marked six months since the world was shocked with the news of MF DOOM’s passing, a death that actually occurred on October 31, 2020, but was withheld by his family until the end of the calendar year. The announcement sent ripples throughout the hip-hop world as many took to social media to share their condolences and their best memories that involved the late rapper.Last month, the first posthumous piece of music with MF DOOM arrived through a joint album with Czarface (Esoteric and Wu-Tang’s Inspectah Deck) titled, Super What?. Now the late rapper’s voice can be found alongside The Avalanches.

The electronic band tapped the late rapper to join them for a remix of “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life” on the 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of The Avalanches’ 2000 debut album, Since I Left You. The updated track keeps most of the song’s original production intact while bringing in a new dose of energy thanks to DOOM’s slick lyricism and undeniable energy.

Shortly after his death, it was revealed that DOOM was very close to completing a sequel to his and Madlib’s Madvillain album Madvillainy, often saying it was “85% done” according to Peanut Butter Wolf, the founder of Stones Throw Records. As for The Avalanches, the song is just one of 15 remixes that will appear on the deluxe reissue of Since I Left You.

You can listen to the “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life” remix in the video above.

Since I Left You (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) is out 6/4 via Modular Recordings. Pre-order it here.

SZA Requests Travis Scott’s Phone Number So She Can Perform ‘Love Galore’ With Him Again

This month marks four years since SZA released her classic debut album, Ctrl. Fourth anniversaries typically don’t warrant much celebration in the music world, but it appears the singer could have something up her sleeve for it. Her hope apparently is that it’ll involve a performance of “Love Galore” with Travis Scott as she hopped on Twitter to request his phone number to make it happen.

“Can somebody ask Travis to perform love galore w me one last time for old times sake,” she wrote. “Ion got his number lol.”

“Love Galore” is of course one of the standout efforts from Ctrl and the second-highest charting song from the album, behind the fan-favorite, “The Weekend.” SZA and Scott have performed the song together on a few occasions, including at a New York City tour spot and a visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, both of which occurred in 2017.

With SZA’s next album set to hopefully arrive in the coming months, it would be nice to see her perform “Love Galore” and potentially more from Ctrl before moving on to the next chapter of her career.

SZA’s tweet comes after she revealed she “burst into tears” while rehearsing “20 Something,” the outro from Ctrl, which adds fuel to the speculation for a special performance for her debut album.

Polo G’s ‘Hall Of Fame’ Tracklist Includes Features From Nicki Minaj And Pop Smoke

There is perhaps no greater sign of a rising artist’s impending superstardom than their album tracklist. After releasing two well-received albums in back-to-back years with relatively few big-name co-signs, it looks like Windy City upstart Polo G will finally arrive at that coveted echelon with the release of his third album, Hall Of Fame. He released the tracklist today, and it’s got some real doozies on it.

While his 2019 debut Die A Legend and its 2020 follow-up The Goat certainly didn’t lack for star power — the first included an appearance from Lil Baby and Gunna just months after their joint mixtape Drip Harder launched a veritable mania for the two Atlantans and the latter had a posthumous Juice WRLD appearance — Hall Of Fame sees Polo attracting the sort of names that get the big font on festival flyers. Those names include DaBaby Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Pop Smoke, and Young Thug, while fellow Chicagoans G Herbo and Lil Durk and fellow XXL Freshmen Fivio Foreign, Rod Wave, and Roddy Ricch also look to contribute. With such a star-studded cast in the wings, the anticipation for Polo’s latest is higher than it’s ever been; thank goodness we only have to wait a week to hear it.

Hall Of Fame is due 6/11 via Columbia Records. See the full tracklist below. Pre-save it on Apple Music and Spotify here.

Yung Miami Of City Girls Stuns Fans With A Photo Of Herself Holding Hands With Diddy

Is Yung Miami from City Girls dating Puff Daddy? That certainly seems to be the implication of the photo the Florida-born-and-bred rapper just posted to Instagram. It’s definitely caught the attention of fans who were shocked to see Miami — who was previously romantically linked to Atlanta, Georgia trap producer Southside — holding hands at Pierre “P” Thomas’s birthday party with none other than Sean “Love” Combs himself. Miami is decked out in an elegant mahogany dress while Diddy rocks one of his signature white suits, clutching her hand as they descend a staircase (scroll through the slides below).

Naturally, many were flustered to spot the new apparent couple, especially after Diddy posted a throwback photo apparently reminiscing about his ex Jennifer Lopez just last week. “Caresha,” Yung Miami’s real name, trended on Twitter as City Girls fans — who are fond of addressing their fave by her government name — expressed surprise, shock, and amusement at the thought of a possible retaliatory post from Southside. Meanwhile, Caresha’s partner-in-rhyme JT (who’s been linked to fellow rapper Lil Uzi Vert) seemed to approve of the union, commenting “expensive!” on the photo with a string of fire emojis.

Some fans also approved while others doubted that the photo meant anything deeper. Either way, it’s looking like a City Girl summer after all, as their new single “Twerkulator” climbs the charts, and fans remain fascinated by their romantic entanglements.

Lil Dicky Gets Romantically Involved With Doja Cat In A New Trailer For Season 2 Of ‘Dave’

It was made official a few weeks ago that the second season of Lil Dicky’s beloved FX series Dave will premiere this summer. Now there’s a new trailer for the upcoming episodes and it reveals some of what will be going on this season. The new season, by the way, is set to premiere on June 16 at 10 p.m. on FXX before streaming on Hulu the next day.

Dicky seems to be experiencing a creative block and having trouble making his debut album, despite other things in his life going well. For example, Dicky seems to have connected with Doja Cat through an online dating platform. Elsewhere, he encounters Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd, as well as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner at Benny Blanco’s house. The trailer wraps up with him hilariously talking with NBA legend (and Airplane star) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about how basketball used to be.

Other celebrities not in the trailer but previously revealed to be making appearances this season are Lil Nas X, CL, Kyle Kuzma, J Balvin, Lil Yachty, Kevin Hart, and others.

Press materials previously said of the new season, “Dave knows he’s destined for rap superstardom — but at what cost? With the pressure mounting as he records his debut album, he has to decide if he’ll sacrifice friendships, love, and his own sense of self in order to make his dream come true. Simultaneously exasperating and inspiring to his friends, Dave vows to leave no stone unturned on his quest to become the next superstar.”
