“There are incredible icons in this world that have never gotten a Grammy, they’ve never gotten an MTV Award,” he explained. “They’ve never gotten a Hollywood star. They’ve never been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And they could’ve lived to be 90 years old and still never got it. They could have been professionally recording for 70 years and still never got it.”

I’m probably in the best place in my life.” What do you think of Busta Rhymes getting a spot in the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2025? Diddy Has Been Stripped Of His Honorary Howard University Degree Amid Ongoing Abuse And Sexual Assault Allegations

Another organization has decided to publicly cut ties with Diddy. Yesterday (June 7), Howard University has officially denounced its former student.

By way of The Dig (the school’s campus news hub), the university announced its decision to strip Diddy of his honorary degree while expressing disgust over his physical assault on Cassie (seen in the video footage obtained by CNN).

Although Diddy never formally graduated from the prestigious historically Black institution, in 2014 he was bestowed with the honorary degree for his career’s work and philanthropic efforts at the university, which included a scholarship fund.

Read Howard University’s full statement below.

The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014. This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University.

Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor.

The University is unwavering in its opposition to all acts of interpersonal violence.

The Board has also directed the University administration to immediately take the following actions: terminate a 2016 gift agreement with Mr. Combs, disband the scholarship program in his name, return his $1 million contribution, and terminate a 2023 pledge agreement with the Sean Combs Foundation.

No payments toward the $1 million pledge have been due or made by the Sean Combs Foundation as of this date, therefore no funds are due to be returned under the 2023 pledge agreement.

Diddy hasn’t issued a statement regarding the board’s decision. But this wasn’t the only commemorative honor up for review.

Last month, the Hollywood Walk Of Fame committee revealed that Diddy’s star would not be removed due to the body’s “lack of control” in the process. On the other hand, New York City’s Eric Adams revealed that officials are considering revoking Diddy’s Key To The City.

Today In Hip Hop History: Tupac Shakur Posthumously Received Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame One Year Ago

Last year, the late Tupac Amaru Shakur received the biggest honor in entertainment; a star on Hollywood’s coveted Walk of Fame. Better late than never, since Shakur was gunned down 27 years ago in Las Vegas at the apex of his career, but his work still impacts pop culture to this day.

Hosted by L.A. radio personality Big Boy, celebrities and notables spoke at length about Shakur’s list of accolades and achievements such as Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur director Allen Hughes, Pac’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, chairman of the board of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Matt Fritch, writer and former Black Panther Party member Jamal Joseph.

“When we talk about that global influence, we think of Tupac Amaru Shakur,” Joseph said. “And yes, that impactful time of the world knowing who Tupac was, was a five- or six-year period. But for everybody who knew Tupac, everybody who was here, we knew he was a star from the time he was a little boy.”

Shakur’s star marks the 2,758th to grace Hollywood Boulevard. While the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unanimously selected Tupac for star in 2013, it took a decade for it to happen.

Diddy’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Will Not Be Removed

ETalk Diddy

Well, if you thought Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was going to be removed amid mounting accusations, think again. Sources say it will remain in place despite numerous calls for its removal amid his ongoing legal troubles.

Yes, the 54-year-old rapper and music mogul faces a growing number of sexual assault lawsuits, leading many people from all over the spectrum to demand the removal of his star. However, a Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokesperson told TMZ that the organization is “powerless” to remove stars once installed on Hollywood Boulevard. The Chamber only has the authority to nominate, manufacture, and install stars, not to remove them.

ICYMI, Combs was honored with the 2,362nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May 2008, with actor Jamie Foxx introducing him at the ceremony. Foxx praised Combs, saying, “He throws the best party you’ve ever seen in your life,” and added, “This is big. This is legendary. And they’ll never be able to take this away from you.”

Despite the increasing number of lawsuits and a federal criminal investigation, Combs’ star is set to stay … For now. He has previously denied the sexual assault allegations, asserting that his accusers are seeking a “payday.” Yea, but there’s the tape …

Last week, incriminating footage emerged showing Combs violently attacking Ventura in a 2016 hotel surveillance video. Following the video’s release, Combs issued a public apology, which was met with skepticism and anger from social media users who questioned the sincerity of his remorse.

Get this: Ventura broke her silence on Thursday, urging people to “open your heart to believe victims the first time” amid accusations of lying about the abuse, including from Combs himself.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney stated they could not prosecute Combs for the assault due to the statute of limitations. Ventura had previously claimed in a now-settled lawsuit that Combs paid the hotel $50,000 for the footage after the attack.

In the wake of the aftermath, even more women have come forward with sexual assault allegations against Combs, dating back decades. One recent lawsuit, filed by April Lampros, alleges that Combs sexually assaulted her multiple times during the 1990s and early 2000s, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. All that seemingly heinous and allegedly criminal behavior aside, his Hollywood star will remain.

Diddy’s Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Will Reportedly Not Be Removed, Despite Controversial Video

The demise of Diddy is far from over. Following the release of a graphic video in which he is seen violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend and former Bad Boy Records singer Cassie, public support continues to plummet.

Many organizations have already cut ties with Diddy including his own company, Revolt. Now, people are demanding that he be stripped of his professional accolades. Yesterday (May 25), it was revealed that talks about removing his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame had begun. However, according to TMZ, the governing committee will not take out the physical landmark.

In the outlet’s report, despite public support for its removal, a Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokesperson claims that “the committee is unable to make the changes.”

The source took a moment to explain the powers of the committee. “[The committee can] nominate star recipients, manufacture and install stars upon city approval and conduct the Walk of Fame installation ceremony,” they said. “[However,] it lacks the authority to remove them.”

This isn’t the only accolade of Diddy to come up in public discourse. During an appearance on PIX11, New York City’s mayor Eric Adams revealed that he is “considering” revoking Diddy’s Key To The City, which was awarded in September 2023.

Dr. Dre’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Ceremony Has Suge Knight Seeking Flowers From Prison

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is made up of over 2,700 stars – several of them belonging to some of the biggest names in hip-hop. On Tuesday (March 19), Dr. Dre finally joined the ranks, proudly celebrating at a star-studded ceremony alongside Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and other friends. “I’m incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years. Most of us have grown up together. And at nearly 60 years old, you’re still rocking with me, and I really appreciate that,” the former NWA member said during his speech.

“I’m nowhere near done. You better believe there’s a lot more coming,” the California native promised. “Pouring my whole soul and self into my passion for hip-hop led me on a pathway to an incredible career, and I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do.” While Dre and his contemporaries were obviously excited about the special occasion, criticism has been flying online due to the multi-talent’s troubling past with women.

Suge Knight Acknowledges Dr. Dre on His Big Day

One person who was unable to attend Dre’s ceremony was Suge Knight, who’s ineligible for parole until October 2034. Still, he made sure to commemorate the moment with a Twitter/X post demanding his flowers. “All you boys, [you’re] welcome!!! #DrDre #SnoopDogg #DJQuik,” the music executive wrote above a Getty Images screenshot from yesterday’s event. “And you contributed to this how??? Just asking,” someone wrote under Knight’s tweet, though he didn’t bother to give them a response.

As he continues to serve his 28-year sentence, Suge Knight is having no trouble getting his messages out to the public from behind bars. One of his latest viral stories is about Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Diddy, all of whom the former Death Row Records leader claims are in a “secret society.” Read what the “Gin N Juice” hitmaker had to say about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
