Kash Doll Reacts To Kendrick Lamar’s Apparent Name-Drop On “6:16 In LA”

Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar unveiled a new Drake diss track, “6:16 In LA.” The diss follows another called “Euphoria,” which he dropped earlier this week. It’s currently an Instagram exclusive and sees the Compton native take a shot at DJ Akademiks on top of Drake. He also claims that OVO Sound employees are working for him and more. Kendrick even appears to name-drop Kash Doll, leaving her a bit perplexed.

The lyrics are unconfirmed for now, but it’s speculated that he references Kash Doll’s robbery. She lost roughly $500K worth of jewelry as a result of the 2021 debacle. Others think it’s a nod to her 2019 track “Ice Me Out” and its flashy accompanying music video. “Ain’t no brownie points for beating your chest, harassin’ Ant/ F*ckin’ with good people make good people go to bat/ Conspiracies about Cash, dog? That’s not even the leak/ Find the jewels like Kash Doll, I just need you to think/ Are you finally ready to play have-you-ever? Let’s see,” he seemingly raps.

Kash Doll Is Perplexed

Kash took to Twitter/X earlier today to respond to a fan’s meme about the apparent name-drop, suggesting that she’s confused. “Facts cause I’m tryna understand the lyrics lol,” she replied. “Where the music lyric geniuses at….” Clearly, Kash didn’t get a heads-up about the mention and is trying to sort out exactly what the implication is here. Fortunately, most fans agree that it wasn’t meant as a diss. Many don’t even think he said her name at all, and instead repeated “cash dog.”

Others suspect that Drake could have another diss locked and loaded in which he accuses Kendrick of sleeping with Kash Doll or even having something to do with the robbery, and Kendrick beat him to the punch. What do you think of Kendrick Lamar seemingly name-dropping Kash Doll on his new track? Are you surprised? What do you think the lyrics mean? Kendrick Lamar’s “6:16 In LA”: Fans Theorize OJ Simpson & Father’s Day Ties In Drake Diss’ Title

Break out your tinfoil hats: we have another set of Kendrick Lamar bars to unpack, and the most layered bits of this new Drake diss, “6:16 In LA,” might not even be in the verse. Moreover, a lot of fans are theorizing on the meaning -– or rather, multiple fan-theorized meanings -– behind this song’s title and cover art, which is of a single black glove with the Maybach logo on it. So let’s see what folks are saying and start with an obvious observation: the diss’ title is meant to evoke The Boy’s timestamp series. The most recent of these was “8AM In Charlotte” off 2023’s For All The Dogs.

Furthermore, fans have pointed out that “6:16” (June 16) is Tupac’s birthday (and we all know how Drake feels about him), the date on which the OJ Simpson charges were presented decades ago, and Father’s Day this year. Kendrick Lamar dropped the song at 6:16AM Pacific Standard Time, and some have also pointed to not a timestamp reference, but a biblical one. There are actually multiple Bible verses that folks are bringing up in this discussion, including from Corinthians, Jeremiah, and Revelation. We won’t detail them here for the sake of not spoiling the fun of your interpretation.

Kendrick Lamar Fans Connect The Dots

Elsewhere, fans are also pointing to Kendrick Lamar’s cover art for “6:16 In LA.” First, there’s the Maybach connection, which could be notable because of Maybach Music Group boss Rick Rosscurrent beef with Drake. Also, the sole glove ties back into the OJ trial (as as authorities reportedly officially declared Nicole Brown Simpson dead at 6:16AM in Los Angeles), and could also highlight Drake’s love for Michael Jackson, who wore one white sequined glove. A farther reach is that this glove actually belongs to Drizzy, and that he’s the only person who’s meant to know what this really means, as it might be someone who took a picture of it and sent it to K.Dot.

Another Theory

Of course, this is all purely speculative and goes to show that Kendrick Lamar’s fans look pretty unhinged with the conspiracies. But when there are so many layers to peel back and so many connections to make, it’s hard to resist the fun. Perhaps Drake comes through with that same energy, as he surely doesn’t appreciate comparisons to a deceased white woman. But such is the art of love and war… or love and hate, in Kendrick’s case.

Meek Mill Roasted For His Sixers Game Outfit

Meek Mill is being roasted for the bizarre attire he chose to wear to the Philadelphia 76ers’ playoff game versus the New York Knicks. The Philidelphia 76ers were eliminated by the Knicks in dramatic fashion, losing Game 6 118-115. All of Philly was hoping their team could pull it out. Team ownership even bought 2000 tickets to keep Knicks fans from taking over their homecourt. Ultimately, the Sixers fell due to the relentlessness of the Knicks and Jalen Brunson’s stellar play. Meek Mill was in attendance, and now his outfit has somehow become a major talking point.

The Philadelphia rapper showed up for the competition on Thursday, May 2, in an interesting outfit. He was dressed in loose-fitting leather shorts and a long-sleeved shirt that was partially see-through. Many jokes were made about Meek when he shared the outfit on Instagram. It is especially funny to fans amidst the rumors that he is allegedly believed to have had a sexual encounter with Diddy. Overall, Meek Mills outfit was just another L for Philidelphia in a night full of them.

Furthermore, fans were especially vicious, particularly because he had recently been accused of having a sexual relationship with Diddy. The rumors came out amidst the music mogul’s legal problems. Meek Mill took to Instagram after the game to defend his outfit. Meek later responded to the jokes. He wrote on IG, “The propaganda doesn’t even want me wearing Rick, lol.” the rapper was referencing the designer Rick Owens, who is known for very outlandish, edgy clothes.

The rapper recently denied being homosexual when it was claimed that he was the same rapper that producer Lil Rod had cited in his sexual assault case against Diddy and that the Bad Boy CEO had sex with. Rapsody & Erykah Badu Are Lovestruck On “3:AM”

About two and half months ago, Erykah Badu celebrated turning 53 years young with a show in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. Joining her onstage for her birthday bash was North Carolina veteran femcee Rapsody. Their performance together went viral mostly because of thirsty men online. Badu sported booty shorts that male fans googly-eyed and simping. But hip-hop heads were also ecstatic because of the snippet that these two legends previewed. “3:AM” from Rapsody and Erykah Badu is now here, and it is quite spectacular.

This is now the third single from the “OooWee” rapper’s forthcoming record Please Don’t Cry. The May 17 release first began its rollout back in October of last year with “Asteroids” featuring production from Hit-Boy. It would not be until March that we received the second offering “Stand Tall.” The feature list is going to be stacked, with names like Lil Wayne, Baby Tate, Alex Isley, and Niko Brim also in the fold.

Listen To “3:AM” By Rapsody & Erykah Badu

From the brief audio we heard at Badu’s show, “3:AM” seemed to be leaning into the R&B side of things. Those suspicions were correct, as both leading ladies sing and rap about being infatuated with their partners. Badu’s high-pitched and nasally voice on the chorus and in the background complement Rap’s passionate performance. The instrumental is slow, sensual, and extremely dreamy and in our eyes, Rapsody is three for three so far.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “3:AM” by Rapsody and Erykah Badu? Does this get you excited for her upcoming album Please Don’t Cry, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on the track? Did this collaboration live up to the hype? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

You could take the sour out of lemons with your sweetness (Softly)
Solid, grounded like the ones that grows beneath us
I conceive your fetus, that would probably have my features (Haha)
We laugh, our sense of humor is what feeds us, I love you (I love you)
I trust you, staycations in St. Regis, like Weezy (Let’s go)
It’s hot boy, we hit the beach, sun tannin’ my peach (Mm)

Cardi B Compares Men To Dogs In NSFW Rant

Cardi B has been busy on her Instagram Live recently. She made waves after reacting to a controversial viral episode of 20 vs. 1. She had fans trying to find where the line is between the NSFW behavior in her songs and the content of the episode. That speculation doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as she returned to live with an NSFW rant about men. She compared all men to dogs, but she wasn’t just speaking in generalities. She listed some specific reasons why she thinks so.

“Because let me tell you about a dog. A dog f*ck anything. He could be a pitbull and he’s going to f*ck chihuahua. Real life dogs, you could put them in a cage with any type of animal and they’re going to f*ck all of them. That’s why men get compared to dogs because they just don’t give a f*ck,” she said during the stream. Unsurprisingly, fans online had a variety of reactions to the video with some finding her statements controversial and others just amazed at the level of detail she went into. Check out the clip that’s making the rounds online below.

Uproxx Music 20: Lay Bankz Wants Your Attention, And She Knows Just How To Get It

Lay Bankz Uproxx Music 20 interview
Pablo Flores Perez/Merle Cooper

For the past few months, Lay Bankz has been a mainstay on all social media platforms. Whether it be X (formerly known as Twitter) or TikTok, Lay Bankz’s reach continues to grow by the month. The rapper, who hails from Philadelphia and is just 19 years old, follows a simple philosophy: Make good music and make sure it lands in people’s faces. It’s an idea that’s become the status quo in today’s social media era, especially in recent years with the presence of TikTok. It also presents the harder task of not being too much in the faces of the audience where they feel trapped, get annoyed, and run for the fences. There’s a balance to be mastered here.

Time will tell if Lay Bankz masters this, but it’s been so far so good for her. Her rise to fame kicked off last summer with the release of “Ick.” The bass-thumping addresses the “sassy man apocalypse” and begs men to “tighten the f*ck up.” The song went viral thanks to a video of Bankz dancing to it at a gas station. Her moves, which were energetic to say the least, forced you to stop and watch. The same could be said about her latest viral moment, pushed by her new single “Tell Ur Girlfriend.” The hype single is wildly infectious and begs for a few listens before moving on to something else. Both records, as well as her debut EP Now You See Me, are proof that Lay Bankz wants your attention, and she knows just how to get it.

With more music on the way, we caught up with Lay Bankz for the Uproxx Music 20 series. Scroll down to learn more about the rising Philly rapper.

See Previous UPROXX MUSIC 20 Interviews:

What is your earliest memory of music?

I remember music from the time I was 3 years old. The first song I ever sang was “Irreplaceable” by Beyoncé.

Who inspired you to take music seriously?

Honestly, myself. Music is a form of expression and it’s subjective. Once I learned I could say how I felt in another form of conversation, I took advantage of that.

Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which one? If not, which instrument do you want to learn how to play?

I grew up playing violin, I play a little piano too. I wanna get better at the piano and hopefully start playing guitar.

What was your first job?

Sweeping in my stepdad’s barbershop.

What is your most prized possession?

My voice. It’s a gift that I can’t see or touch. Intangible, but not unattainable. It’s brought so much to my life and I couldn’t hold anything else to such high value.

What is your biggest fear?

Not being able to sing. Or not being able to take care of the people who rely on me.

Who is on your hip-hop Mt. Rushmore?

Missy Elliott, Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, and Jay-Z.

You get 24 hours to yourself to do anything you want, with unlimited resources: What are you doing? And spare no details!

I would create jobs with the resources for everyone in need.

What are your three most used emojis?

😭💖🙈💁🏽‍♀️ — I couldn’t pick between these four.

What’s a feature you need to secure before you die?

Raye.

If you could appear in a future season of a current TV show, which one would it be and why?

Bridgerton, only because I’ve been watching it a lot recently.

Which celebrity do you admire or respect for their personality, and why?

Beyoncé, the way she controls any narrative placed upon her on any platform is admirable as ever. She always shows a sense of resilience, and she never does too much nor does she try hard to be herself. I love that about her.

Share your opinion on something no one could ever change your mind about.

Black-own everything.

What is the best song you’ve ever heard in your life, and what do you love about it?

That’s hard to say, there are so many songs I love. Doubling down on only one would be unfair because I grew up on so much music that I love for different reasons. Even to this day, I hear new music all the time that I appreciate for different reasons.

What’s your favorite city in the world to perform, and what’s a city you’re excited to perform in for the first time?

Philly, the love different from your own city. I’m excited to go out of the country and show my talents overseas.

You are throwing a music festival. Give us the dream lineup of 5 artists that will perform with you and the location where it would be held.

Latto, Flo Milli, Cash Cobain, NLE Choppa, and Tyla in Atlanta.

What would you be doing now if it weren’t for music?

I don’t know. Maybe playing soccer or painting professionally. Whatever I would be doing would involve some sort of creativity or me being active because those are things I love. I got accepted to 23 colleges too, so maybe I would’ve went to school to study law.

If you could see five years into the future or go five years into the past, which one would you pick and why?

The past, just to visit moments and feelings I feel like I didn’t get to feel entirely because of how fast they happened. I experience so much every day and my life moves so fast that it’s easy to not entirely take in what’s happening to me. I wouldn’t want to see the future because I’m gonna always get there. Why rush to see what’s already written?

What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?

Love yourself first, because not everyone will love you how they say they do.

It’s 2050. The world hasn’t ended, and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?

I want my music to be held in high regard, I want it to be timeless. 2050 and after.
