Foo Fighters Are Re-Branding As The ‘Dee Gees’ To Release A Collection Of Bee Gees Covers

The Bee Gees have clearly been living rent-free in Dave Grohl’s head lately, and now Foo Fighters are taking their admiration of the disco icons to a new level: Foo Fighters announced today that on July 17’s Record Store Day, they are releasing a collection of Bee Gees covers.

The album will actually be credited to the Dee Gees and is titled Hail Satin!. The release will be divided into two parts (as Spin notes). The first half, dubbed The Dee Gees, will feature the band covering five Bee Gees songs: “You Should Be Dancing,” “Night Fever,” “Tragedy,” “Shadow Dancing,” and “More Than A Woman.” (Technically, “Shadow Dancing” isn’t a Bee Gees song, but it’s in the literal Bee Gees family: It was a No. 1 single for Andy Gibb, the Bee Gees co-wrote it, and Barry Gibb sings on the song.) Then, the second half of the release features a handful of live versions of Medicine At Midnight songs.

Grohl previously picked the Bee Gees’ Saturday Night Fever as an album all kids should listen to, saying, “I like myself a little party every now and then. I do like to dance. I mean, come on, let’s just go with Saturday Night Fever. If you put Saturday Night Fever on, it’s going to feel like Saturday night, but it could be a Monday morning. So, I would have to go with those three albums. It’s a good way to start.”

Check out the Hail Satin! tracklist below.

Side A — The Dee Gees
1. “You Should Be Dancing”
2. “Night Fever”
3. “Tragedy”
4. “Shadow Dancing”
5. “More Than A Woman”

Side B — Live At 606
6. “Making A Fire”
7. “Shame Shame”
8. “Waiting On A War”
9. “No Son Of Mine”
10. “Cloudspotter”

Tate McRae And Khalid Are ‘Working’ It In Their Bouncy New Collaboration

When this year began, we named Tate McRae as one of the year’s rising pop stars to watch, and boy has she delivered on that. The multi-talented dancer, singer and songwriter has been on a tear of late, kicking off with her Too Young To Be Sad EP in March, McRae has since released a collaboration with Troye Sivan, “You,” and a gloomy new ballad for Amazon’s Panic series called “Darkest Hour.” Today she’s back with another new big collaboration, though, this time featuring R&B “Location” darling Khalid, who is “Working” alongside her on their bouncy new single.

Tate’s rise from dance superstar to one of the year’s most prominent new pop voices is well-documented, but it seems like this new single is going to catapult her into the spotlight in an even bigger way. On the track, the two young musicians trade verses about their, well, work ethic. “I am so stoked for this song I did with Khalid,” Tate said in a press release. “I usually release a lot of songs that are pretty emotional but this one is just a straight summer bop. We had such a fun time creating this song — I seriously can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Check out the new tune above and get ready to hear Tate and Khalid working it all summer long.

Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High Rumored Release Date Revealed

For months now, fans have been receiving teasers of the upcoming Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 collection. This is going to be a unique two-pack that features an Air Jordan 1 High OG and an Air Jordan 1 Low. Both colorways will have nods to the original Fragment x Air Jordan 1 colorway while containing a backward Swoosh which is an homage to Travis Scott. The anticipation for this collaboration has been building and many believe it will be one of the best shoes of the entire year.

In the images below via @zsneakerheadz, you can see how the High OG version will have blue on the toe box and back heel while the sides are white. From there, black is placed on the Nike swoosh and collar which helps bring the entire shoe together. Overall, it’s a great colorway that is going to be sold out immediately upon release.

When it comes to the drop date, it is now being reported that the High OG version could be out by July 29th which is just next month. This release date has not been confirmed although it certainly conflicts with earlier reports that stated this shoe would be dropping in the Fall. Stay tuned for more updates on this release as we will be sure to bring them to you.

Pooh Shiesty & 42 Dugg Read Mean Comments: “Poop Sh*tty” & Short Jokes

XXL announced their annual Freshman List on Wednesday, naming the lucky artists who are getting the publication’s co-sign in 2021. After monster years, Pooh Shiesty, Coi Leray, and Flo Milli were shoo-ins for this year’s tally, being joined by DDG, 42 Dugg, Morray, Blxst, Rubi Rose, Lakeyah, iann dior, and Toosii.

As part of the magazine cover’s rollout, XXL always stages some entertaining content for fans to get to know the rappers better. They start by having them read mean comments before dropping the freestyles, cyphers, and more videos for the world to fall in love with the next generation. On Thursday, the mean comments portion was released and it didn’t disappoint, especially when Pooh Shiesty, 42 Dugg, and Coi Leray were clapping back.

The episode starts out with the ever-positive Morray responding to a fan who told him he dresses badly. Considering he just got his first whiff of money, Morray actually agreed with the fan, saying he’s not used to designer clothing yet. Then, Pooh Shiesty faced the inevitable “Poop Shitty” comment, to which he responded, “Fuck you dude” with his middle fingers up.

As you would expect, when the camera got to 42 Dugg, the rapper was given a comment about how he doesn’t qualify because of how short he is, to which he said, “Depending on the height measurements, he might be right.”

Watch the video below to see how Blxst reacts to being called the fourth member of the Migos, how Rubi Rose responds to someone saying she stole an actress’ name, and how Lakeyah replies when someone says she looks like Mike Jones.

Nick Young Urges Chris Paul To Pray Following COVID-19 News

Yesterday, bombshell news came out of the NBA as it was revealed that Chris Paul tested positive for COVID-19 and would have to enter quarantine as part of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. This was especially bad news considering the Suns had just finished off their series against the Denver Nuggets, and were looking forward to some rest before playing in the Western Conference Finals. At this point, the Suns are still in a good spot thanks to a prolonged series by the Clippers and Jazz, however, there is still some concern that Paul won’t be good to go in time for Game 1.

Nick Young reacted to this news with a pretty blunt tweet on Wednesday, and it certainly wasn’t well-received by the fans. Young essentially said that Paul must be doing something wrong in his life because his Karma has simply been going against him for years. In fact, Young urged Paul to pray and to start living right.

“Cp3 you need to go pray … you not living right lol something somewhere dnt want you to win … every playoffs something happen to you,” Young wrote.

While Young probably meant this in the most harmless way possible, there were still some people out there who took it as disrespectful. After all, Paul is a beloved player in the NBA and many fans are hoping that he can get himself a title sooner rather than later.

Lonzo Ball Reacts To LaMelo’s Rookie Of The Year Honor

LaMelo Ball was an absolute force in the league this past season and many fans were hoping for him to win rookie of the year honors. After injuring his wrist late in the season, there was a fear that he would be passed up for the award in favor of Anthony Edwards, who had a much more consistent rookie campaign in terms of his health. In the end, however, it was the Hornets star who ended up getting the award and fans are ecstatic about how it all played out.

Ball’s oldest brother Lonzo was also quite excited about the achievement as he took to his Instagram story with a message for his brother, saying “just another step along the journey… keep going lil bro.”

LaMelo is expected to make the next step in 2022 and the blueprint is certainly there for him to become a Superstar. Needless to say, these next few years will be a fun time for the Ball brothers.

Cordae Funds Scholarships For HBCU Students With Help From Disney And ESPN

Cordae isn’t just a critically acclaimed, hit-making young artist on the rise — he’s also an outspoken activist and advocate for social change in America and the world. Last year, he was arrested at a sit-in protest of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s home to push for Cameron to file charges against Breonna Taylor’s killers (a felony charge against him was dropped) and now, he’s partnered with Disney Dreamers Academy and ESPN’s The Undefeated to stand up for education by funding scholarships for HBCU students.

His efforts are being fueled by his participation in the upcoming compilation project Liberated / Music For the Movement Vol. 3, set to be released June 18 in honor of Juneteenth, the Black American holiday celebrating the official end of slavery in the United States. The Music For The Movement series, sponsored by The Undefeated, celebrates Black history and accomplishments of Black American activists, artists, and athletes, spawning records like Tinashe’s cover of “I’m Every Woman.”

Cordae, who appears on the track “What’s Life” with Common, committed to donating his proceeds from the track to funding scholarships for HBCU students. The Undefeated and Disney Dreamers Academy matched his donations. Cordae explained his decision in a press release. “So many people need the money more than I do,” he said. “I feel as though when you’re in such a blessed position, it’s important to pay that forward to be a blessing to others. It’s especially important to me to invest in our youth and the future. Young people are the future of our society and the world, so we must do all we can to ensure they are properly positioned to succeed. If I can spark the brain of a few future world leaders and geniuses, I’ll die a happy man.”

Liberated / Music For the Movement Vol. 3 also features Chloe Bailey, Kamasi Washington, Lucky Daye, and Yara Shahidi, and is due 6/18 on Hollywood Records.

Cordae is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Joe Budden Left Strip Club After He Saw Stripper In Sandals

Joe Budden doesn’t seem to be one to take the art of strip clubbing lightly. The rapper and podcaster posted a joke photo to his Instagram story on Wednesday with a brief caption stating “I left” in response to a stripper wearing a pair of sandals instead of the typical club attire of heels.

There were no location tags or any distinguishable features in the background to properly identify the strip club that Budden was at, but it seems this stripper’s particular choice of attire did enough to rub him the wrong way and promptly spark his departure. Future hopefuls of Budden’s club philanthropy should be taking notes.

Budden sneakily took the photo of the stripper’s waist down — so she’s not easily as identifiable — but her shoe of choice for the night was more comparable to a pair of church shoes than anything else. Fans shared a laugh with Joe in the comments of the post, while piling onto the jokes that he set off by posting the photo to his story.

The Joe Budden Podcast has been the former rapper’s main source of prominence and relevancy in recent years, but underwent a recent shakeup when he seemingly fired longtime co-hosts Rory Farrell and Jamil “Mal” Clay in the middle of the since-deleted May 12th episode. There had been brewing discrepancies between Budden and the two in recent months over the show’s finances, which steered their relationship to a point of no return.

The duo has since gone on to start their own show on YouTube, seemingly doing just fine without Budden. On the other hand, Budden has continued on with the podcast after declaring that it was “over” during the aforementioned episode, substituting them with various guests to attempt to recapture the vibe of the show’s past.

What’d you think of Budden’s post? Are you still listening to his podcast without its co-hosts? Comment below.
